After comparing prices, products used, and restoration processes with various trade professionals- I decided to go with this local small business. I sent him my inspiration photos via DM. Then scheduled a day for him to come to the house to see the piece in-person and give an accurate quote. I sent him a 50% deposit at the agreed price (his price includes pick-up and drop-off.) Then waited 3 weeks for my dresser to make its way back home. (Please note that he did provide updates of his progress via text throughout the weeks). After feeling confident in his work on my 12-drawer dresser, he is now working on another antique mirror of mine. Then next is a bedside table. And well you get the picture.... I originally had called several other businesses but they were either closed or they didn't answer their phones. Victor on the other hand was just the opposite. He said bring it in or give him the dimensions. I was in the area, I will drop in. The store was next to a car repair place, but his business is facing on Whittier Blvd. Visible signs on every corner. Street parking only. There's parking right in front of his store. The owner, Victor, has been in the family business for 35 years. He was easy to talk to and listened to your needs. He gave his recommendations. He didn't try to upsell or force to buy anything. Down to earth. There was a white sofa in the center of the room that has three different cushions of softness for testing. Firm, Medium, Soft. The firm was way too firm, Soft was way too soft and the medium was just right. I went with the medium. I took it in on a Tuesday and it was ready on Thursday. At first, when I got home and place the cushions back into the sofa and sat on it, I was like, whoa, feels like it was firm. It felt like it because it was brand new.
