I took in 3 sofa cushions in for foam replacement. They were deflated after owning them for 20 years. I originally had called several other businesses but they were either closed or they didn't answer their phones. Victor on the other hand was just the opposite. He said bring it in or give him the dimensions. I was in the area, I will drop in. The store was next to a car repair place, but his business is facing on Whittier Blvd. Visible signs on every corner. Street parking only. There's parking right in front of his store. The owner, Victor, has been in the family business for 35 years. He was easy to talk to and listened to your needs. He gave his recommendations. He didn't try to upsell or force to buy anything. Down to earth. There was a white sofa in the center of the room that has three different cushions of softness for testing. Firm, Medium, Soft. The firm was way too firm, Soft was way too soft and the medium was just right. I went with the medium. I took it in on a Tuesday and it was ready on Thursday. At first, when I got home and place the cushions back into the sofa and sat on it, I was like, whoa, feels like it was firm. It felt like it because it was brand new. I have never wanted to hug a sofa! After months of researching re-upholstery and about a month of searching for someone I trusted, I chose to work with Victor at Artistic Upholstery. I had emailed detailed photos of my sofa to a few places who either didn't bother to reply, took weeks to reply and were not very helpful, or quoted outrages rates. NOT Victor! Victor replied in a timely manner the first time and continued that throughout the process. He welcomed me to the shop where the work would be done and was happy to show me around. I needed to have the springs in my sofa repaired. It was my great-aunt's, purchased over 60 years ago, well cared for and well worth saving. The only reason for having any work done was to have the springs re-tied that had come loose after years of wear. I later decided to just have the sofa re-upholstered since re-tying the springs would be equally labor intensive and would not cost much more. Victor and his technicians took care of the 8-way hand-tied springs on the bottom and tightened the springs in the back as well. Since the springs in each cushion were still in great shape, there was no need to replace them which would have cost more. I didn't realize that choosing a fabric would be so difficult. Victor was patient, taught me lots about upholstery fabric based on my lifestyle and the style of the sofa as was able to recommend the perfect fabric that fit within my budget and exceeded my visions. Victor had set a goal of having my sofa back to me for the holidays. Even after I'd told him to take his time. I honestly did not expect to have it back until January, which was completely fine after I'd held up the original timeframe with the fabric selection. He delivered it the week of Christmas. I was elated, speechless and just completely blown away by the craftsmanship and attention to detail. (see photos posted) The soft champagne velvet made me want to HUG my sofa! I'm sure that I'll have her for another 50-60 years. I could not be happier and highly recommend working with Artistic Upholstery. read more

I have had my antique sofa for many years and finally got around to getting it reupholstered. I found Victor through Yelp and can now contribute to the reviews that speak truth to his professionalism, his courtesy but mostly to his artistry. As the sofa was so old, I bought it in England - it was made somewhere in between 1890s-1900s - I was nervous about how well it would be treated. When Victor came to view it, he noticed things I had not, such as the depth of the seat, the need to add more cushioning to the back of the couch. I saw immediately that Victor was an expert at what he does. He showed as much care and attention to my sofa as I did. Victor was patient working with me to find the best fabric for my price point. Meaning I got what I wanted at the price I wanted to pay for it, which isn't as easy as it sounds! Plus he is extremely polite and responsive to communication. We got a free chair when we picked up furniture on craigslist. It was an older chair but it was still in decent shape so we decided to bring it home with us. We purchased a 8-way hand tied hardwood frame Thomasville sofa 20 years ago. With daily use the fabric became worn and dated. We debated about replacing versus reupholstering. After a good discussion with Victor we decided to go with reupholstering since purchasing a new well constructed sofa would be more costly. Victor was very patient and spent lots of time with us. He had us sit on a sample sofa with soft, medium, and hard cushion foam. He showed us many fabric samples that he thought would go with our style and other furnishings. He encouraged us to take the samples home to see them in the lighting of our own room. Once we chose our fabric, Victor ordered it the same day. Due to Covid it did take a couple months to obtain.
