Fun place right in the heart of downtown Temecula. Offers a variety of traditional appetizers and many specialized craft cocktails. It's amazing to watch the bartenders make each unique cocktail. Expect to have fresh whipped egg whites in your Pisco Sour and a smoking cinnamon clove in your hot tea with a shot of liqueur. They do one drink that involves setting a cedar plank on fire and capturing the smoke in your cocktail glass. Very creative. read more

Great holiday ambience. We had a staff meeting for seven people in the patio and it worked out great for us with reservations ahead of time. I ordered the carnitas chilaquiles, others the Cesar and stake salads. The holiday drinks were also a hit! read more

I came here for date night with my husband last night and felt the need to review the place before I forget the experience in whole. The place is located in Old Town Temecula and the entrance is to the side so it might be confusing at first. The ambiance is typical bar/gastropub type place without much decor or accent besides the bar being lit up. We arrived around Happy hour, which was weird on a Sunday but hey, we're not complaining. We got the pretzel with the IPA cheese from the happy hour menu but didn't get any drinks since we're coming down with a cold. $2 off wine and champagne, there were $6 cocktails and some brews. We found that they like to cook with their beers, like any other gastropub, this also includes dessert, so make room for that. For our entrees, I got the three cheese grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes and bacon and a side of house made chips. My husband got the fish tacos - both were delicious but not too unique for a gastropub menu. For dessert, we got the trio of mousses - chai, egg nog and mexican chocolate served with a peppermint spoon. It was cute and pretty creative and festive. The chai mousse was delicious and my favorite. This place is worth a stop for adults, I'm sure kids are able to come here too but it just seems more of an adults-only atmosphere. Location is great. Seating/tables are spacious. Service is ok. Drinks are yummy! Definitely recommend each member try a different drink. The food is eh. We just had my sisters rehearsal dinner at 1909, and our server for the whole party was Josh. He was excellent! He constantly checked to make sure we had everything we needed. We had a large party with lots of dietary restrictions and all of our food orders were correct! The drinks were excellent and food tasted great! I would definitely recommend this venue to others. Yum. Came here because their sister restaurant, Toast, was too busy. I am glad we did. It is located in Old Town and surrounded by cute little shops, which I LOVE. The food was pretty good and the portions were huge. The service was good too. Came here for the first time for lunch with my wife. We sat at the bar and had an amazing experience. The cocktails we ordered were superb. I had the house margarita and then switched to a Cadillac margarita. Being an LA native I can say these margaritas were top notch. My wife had the mango margaritas and she was instantly in love with them. The bartender was super cool and gave us his recommendations on different drinks. For food, we started with the ahi tartar which was excellent. Fish was fresh and the flavors were spot on. For our main course, we shared the 1909 burger. The only mistake was that we shared the burger and didn't get a burger each. It was super flavorful and the quality of the beef was a 10. Visited 11/4/2016 I give 1909 a Rating of between 3 and 4 Stars. It's a very trendy gastro pub in old town Temecula. Lots of seating inside as well as a nice large patio on the Main Street outside. The service was very good although our waitress was a bit pushy to get us to order. She was very nice though. The food was a mixed review with us for what we tried. The Three Cheese Grilled Cheese was just ok. The 1909 Burger was A Great Burger. Cooked perfectly to medium rare was big and juicy. 4 1/2 Stars. The Fries were only ok. Like frozen fries. Not Great. 2 1/2 Stars. They have a good selectionI of craft beers and well drinks. The live music gets overly loud for a enjoyable dining experience though. They get very busy most of the time and parking is very hard as anywhere in Old Town. All I can say is Great Burgers. read more

We loved having our son's rehearsal dinner at 1909! The event coordinator, Christina, and our server, Savannah, were both so friendly and very accommodating. The food, from starters to dessert, and the drinks were all delicious, and the casual atmosphere made the night so fun! The personalized menus were a great touch. Best service and best sandwich! I don't normally order sandwiches because they aren't my favorite meal item, but the falafel on pita sounded interesting. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It had sliced falafel, thick mushrooms, spinach, onions, tomatoes and tzatziki. And served with a mixed green salad. I'd drive back here just for that sandwich. That's all I had, so I'm not sure about the other food, but I'm sure there's lots of other great items. Really liked this place; I've come twice, once for a wedding and once for a dinner outing. I liked it better the second time around because I just got the burger and fries and a drink and it was so good! The food was amazing and the vibe was great. I really enjoyed the staff! They were very kind and fast with their delivery. Kitchen staff took a while to prepare food, but it was worth the wait. The rice was cooked to perfection and really complimented the chicken. The drink was really tasty and not bitter. Our waitress whom was African American with curly hair was very sweet and knowledgeable about menu. Although the time slipped by us, she was never rude or pushy. I would definitely be back again to enjoy more food! I will say that devil eggs are really a different taste, but not too bad. read more

About the food: I can only speak about the chicken dish. The fried chicken was flat and breaded like a frozen fish stick. It was flavorless, maybe even a bit on the sour side...said it came from the freezer or something. It certainly didn't taste good even doused with the hollandaise and I ate most everything else on the plate BUT the fried chicken. One of my two poached eggs was over cooked so when I broke into it, it didn't run. Just poor execution all around. Service: We were told by the busboy, that we had to flag down because our server was nowhere to be seen, that our food would be free after waiting 45 minutes for our food. Then they came back and said they took off 50%. Ok. In those 45 minutes, our water and coffee wasn't refilled. Hmm. In the midst of a pandemic and half capacity, I don't know how the service could have been so poor. I'll never return and I'd never recommend this place. In fact, I'd actively tell people to steer clear of this place altogether. Overpriced food that is poorly cooked and underwhelming service. read more

Me and husband decided to drive down to Temecula to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We ended up coming here the night of and had a wonderful time. Their food was delicious, hubby had the elk plate and I had the 1909 burger with the bacon salt fries. Can't quite remember the name, ranch was really good as well as I always feel like it's a hit or miss in different places. Delicious. Absolutely amazing. The Elk dish I had was so delicious. I never knew what Elk tasted like until today. The creamy cauliflower purée mixed with the gravy & elk meat was in a whole other level. The asparagus & carrot/ that were with it wasn't anything out of the ordinary but they were soft with a slight crunch which I love. It adds texture to the dish. I'm not a fan of cabbage & onion so I didn't touch it (preference, not judged on taste since I'm biased) my bf had the lobster which tasted amazing. It came with black beans & rice. the side beans & rice was ok but the lobster was great. The drink we had called "back that Glass up" was amazing. We ordered 2 & the wine with the creamy egg white mixed gave it a flavorful smooth texture. If you're not local parking can be hard but just go up fourth street & there's a garage you can park in. The server made up for all of the brisket shortcomings by providing stellar customer service checking on us frequently and ensuring our beverages were always full. We had a nice chat and Travis was very gracious and told us the intriguing story about how they came up with the name "QUAIL" so be sure to ask, I can only assume he'll indulge you as well. The back room changes from time to time depending on what art show is up. It's a very cozy comfortable spot and nicely decorated. The entire concept is brilliant, right down to the "merch" for sale and expertly curated interior design. This is an elevated scene for Temecula. I'm digging it big-time. I wonder if they ever have a DJ spinning in there or a jazz trio in the back room or something, that would be pretty groovy. Been a good 24 months since my last visit. Monday business lunch with an associate. We sat at the bar, as tables all looked to be full. Bartender took our order. Settled on the chicken sandwich at $14++. Ordered the Caesar salad as the side. First impression; Came out FAST - perhaps 6 to 8 minutes. Huh? Grilled chicken sammy that quick? Not a solid grilled breast, but a couple sections. Was it pre-grilled and then held in a warmer? I don't know, just wondering. Served on a brioche roll with the signature "1909" branded into the top. Cute touch. Unfortunately, don't just want cute, I want good (and quality). Oh, bartender was running orders. Before she disappeared, didn't provide us with napkins or utensils. Minor issue, but a basic expectation. Someone else served the plates. Didn't know who had what. Always sticks in my craw when they have to ask. She was gone before we noticed missing utensils so we flagged down another staff member to provide them to us. Training, training, training (or lack thereof). I had a sandwich here previously on the brioche. Same experience this time as before. The bread falls apart easily and seems not fresh to me. Perhaps that is just brioche, or perhaps it is just 1909 brioche. Not again here. I now know if I am back, won't be ordering anything on this type of roll. Caesar salad has actual anchovies (which I didn't immediately notice) topping very limp, soggy lettuce. Be aware if you are not a whole anchovy fan. Can't comment on the taste of the dressing, as I chewed my first bite of salad it was overwhelmed by the saltiness. Big Caesar fan, so very disappointed. Also pre-made to overcome a lunch rush timing issue? Ate a few bites and that was it. Lastly, consistently batting flies away from the food as I ate. Not just one or two, more like five or more. Also, 105 degree day and one end of the building is completely open. Beware, as it overwhelms any a/c system and can be very uncomfortable on a hot day like this, plus if the flies are not originating inside the building, they receive an open invitation based upon the building layout. Really want to like 1909, but my three visits have all been mediocre. Sorry. read more

They always have such fun specialty cocktails and themed drinks, and I absolutely love how they do pop-up events and themed nights where they completely change up the menu to match the occasion. It makes every visit feel different and exciting, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into creating a fun experience for their guests. Whenever we have friends or family visiting from out of town, this is one of the first places we bring them because it never disappoints. Everyone is always blown away by the atmosphere, the food, and the overall vibe. It somehow manages to be the perfect spot for literally any occasion, whether you're celebrating a bachelorette party, grabbing drinks with friends, having date night, or bringing the whole family with young kids. went back for 2nd time last night (Tuesday)- first experience was a 5 star winner for great food and service. Once again, we are told it was there soft opening but the place is packed- My wife was in the restaurant business for over 15 years and a soft opening should have limited seating so the staff/kitchen can have time to work there kinks out. It can take up to 6 months for a restaurant this size to work out all the kinks. Last night instead of a 5 star experience, we had a 1 star experience for food and service. Wife and I sat at the bar and waited 10 minutes for a bartender to offer us a drink. After we ordered drink- it took another 5+ minutes to receive it and instead of Vodka Tonic- they put soda water- it then took another 5+ minutes to correct that issue. We then decide to sit outside and have dinner- they have what I consider to be the best "thought out-creative" menu in Temecula - We ordered the chicken wings which were outstanding the first time we had them- but get the wings and instead of the Whiskey glaze they had on them the first time we ate- they have some lousy store bought hot sauce glaze - why would you change something that was so good the first time- hence I inquired with our waitress why these were different and found out the owners fired the head chef and were making changes to the menu- the server also told us no one understood why the chef was fired because the food and menu have been so successful-. you could tell she wasn't excited about the food any longer - what a shame as everyone we know who has been here has raved about the food. I came here to have dinner with my husband on date night. We sat at the bar and we were having drinks and dinner. The food we ordered was ok at best and the drinks at the bar were taking extremely long to come even though we were seated at the bar. I don't write reviews but I had to write one because of what I encountered while sitting there...I was seated next to a couple of young gentleman to my left...they were so rudely treated that I was shocked that this happens in 2019. They were waiting at the bar for awhile and when they finally got their drink they paid for it and started chatting with each other. They tried to order another drink but the manager Zach came up and started to speak to the in a very rude tone...I could tell by the young guys faces that they were caught off guard. I was taken aback by the rude manner of the manager, the young guys asked for the manager which Zach replied in a condescending tone that he was the manager and told the young gentleman they could leave and were not gonna be served anymore...The manager was extremely rude and I don't know what prompted this behavior...I was so upset my husband and I left our phone number on the receipt and waited for someone to call us...this behavior was uncalled for and I honestly don't know what prompted it..all I can say is SHAME ON YOU ZACH. I am sad that this behavior is ongoing in 2019...I don't want to say these people were discriminated against but thats what it seemed like. Great location. I have visited the restaurant many times and always had great food and service. The Bison burger is probably the best I have ever had. However, up until last night I would have rated the restaurant a 5 star. I do feel I need to share my 1 star experience that we had yesterday evening. After my girlfriend and I had dinner I ran into a good a friend and they were celebrating a special day. I wanted to treat her to a drink to celebrate so on our way out we quickly stopped by the bar area. We were greeted by a young male that took our drink order. After waiting for a few moments and watching several people come in after us receive their drinks I grabbed the guys attention to ask about her drink and he tells us that he can't take order (come to find out he was only a bar back but pretending to be a bartender). When I asked him why would he pretend to take our orders if he couldn't serve us. He became very rude even laughing at us so I asked to speak to a manager the manager came up to me and informed us that he will not serve me but will serve my friend with a matter of fact attitude. I was completely taken by surprise and embarrassed in front of my friends and other people at the bar. If we were being rude or intoxicated I could understand but we had just finished dinner and were headed home. The restaurant is great but I will not recommend visiting the bar. There are many other establishments in old town that are friendly and welcoming. This happened on 7-30 around 10:00pm. read more

This place offers fantastic food, incredible drinks, and the holiday decorations are absolutely on point! We've been here before and enjoyed the burgers and beer, which were great. This time, we expanded our selection and tried a variety of dishes, including the Korean chicken, fried deviled eggs, and the ribeye with veggies and rice. The Korean chicken is absolutely mouthwatering - you'll definitely crave it later. The rice, soaked in the juices from the veggies and ribeye, was perfectly done and added so much flavor. As for the ribeye, it was cooked to perfection. You can't go wrong with a ribeye, but somehow, places still manage to mess it up. Not here though - they nailed it. We also tried their "shots for tots" (such a fun concept!) and I really hope the money goes to the right place. The shots were delicious, and their drinks were just as impressive. I'm from the Midwest, and while California's cocktail game can be hit-or-miss, this place absolutely gets it right. The drinks are perfectly balanced - not too strong but still give you a nice buzz without overpowering the flavor. Overall, I can't say enough good things about this place - I'm really impressed. It was busy, so the service was a bit lacking, but that's to be expected during peak times. I just wish our table had been checked on a little more, as that would've elevated the experience to perfection. I highly do NOT recommend this establishment! The reviews are absolutely misleading! I CALLED to confirm if I could RESERVE A TABLE by phone. They told me no, you can't make a reservation by phone, only by standing in line outside. I clarified how long the wait was, and they said 5-7 minutes. Fine. I'm with two kids, so I head over. When I arrive, they tell me the wait is 1 hour and 15 minutes. I made a reservation for 5 people and came back after 1 hour and 15 minutes, only to be told, "Oh, your reservation is for 2 people," and that I would have to wait an additional 1 hour and 50 minutes. I was in complete shock. The hostesses were absolutely unprofessional and had no understanding of customer service or hospitality! On top of that, there were empty tables in the dining area, but we weren't even offered the option to sit there. It was as if they just didn't care about accommodating us. I asked for the manager, and a man with a beard came out. When I explained that we had been deceived, he didn't even listen and simply said, "Wait another 15 minutes," and left! This is blatant dishonesty! Train your staff to give truthful information over the phone. Okay so if you're sleeping on 1909 in Old Town Temecula, WAKE UP because this place is absolutely it. We rolled in on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday and left with full bellies, big smiles, and zero regrets. We went full send on the menu and ordered the mini burger sliders, whipped espresso french toast (excuse me?? SO good), fried chicken Benny, and a smashburger. Every single thing was a hit and the portions are absolutely massive. Like, come hungry. Seriously. The service was speedy, friendly, and just all around great. No long waits, no wrong orders, just good vibes all around. We snagged a table on the patio and honestly the people-watching alone is worth the visit. Old Town does not disappoint as a backdrop. AND THEN. At the end of the meal our server came out with a dessert drink float topped with a sparkler, completely on the house, just to celebrate our friend's birthday. We sang Happy Birthday right there on the patio and it was the cutest thing ever. I visited 1909 right after Christmas, and it was such a vibe! The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays, creating a festive and cozy atmosphere that really set the tone for a great experience. The ambiance alone was worth the visit--it felt like stepping into a holiday wonderland. For food, I ordered the chilaquiles, which were delicious and satisfying. We also shared the Korean chicken, which came in huge pieces lol --perfect for sharing, but a little too sweet for my liking. On top of that, we indulged in a couple of their specialty Christmas drinks, which were not only festive but also flavorful. They even had $5 Christmas shots, which added an extra fun touch to the holiday vibe! Overall, the food was good, and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. I couldn't help but wonder what the vibe is like outside of the holiday season, but I'm already looking forward to coming back and experiencing it again. First time here and I was very impressed with the food. It was knock your socks off delicious. Ginger Sea bass, smoked lengua, pesto, charcuterie, oysters - all of it was so well prepared and to die for. This is a 5 star restaurant with great bar and relaxing atmosphere and we definitely plan to return. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is the service. Very nice young gentleman served us and he was mostly on point. However, when our waters got low, we weren't offered refills for quite a while. When I finally asked for refills, he only refilled mine and not my gf and didn't even ask her. I'm gonna excuse that as lack of experience maybe and hope he learns from this. And also, I ordered the chili and blue cornbread to go and when I got home, no cornbread. I love cornbread so I was pretty disappointed. I'm a restaurant owner and manager myself so I will be both a tough critic and also forgiving. So I'm not looking for freebies or anything like that. Shit happens. I'm over it. My husband and I stopped by for some dinner before an appointment, we were going to go to Blackbird Tavern but after finding out it was closed on Mondays decided to walk around and find another spot and i'm so glad we did! 1909 has a great feel, it's very open, friendly and modern, kinda like a rustic gastro pub. The bar was huge, we did not partake in any libations but we will definitely be back to do just that! I saw on their dessert menu they have beer floats with Cali Creamin' and i'm super excited to try that! I got the fish tacos, they were HUGE and delicious with a little kick. My hubby got the Chicken Sammie and he said it was awesome, especially with the garlic mayo, but the clear winner was the french fries with bacon salt... BACON SALT. Dinner was fantastic. If it's a warm day/evening we recommend sitting out on their enormous patio, it was so great to watch the sun set over Old Town and watch the night life take shape. 5 Stars - A Must-Visit Brunch Spot in Old Town! We had an amazing experience at 1909 in Temecula Old Town! From the moment we were seated, our server Amy made us feel incredibly welcome. She was friendly, attentive, and had great recommendations -- a true gem of the staff! The Ube French Toast was as beautiful as it was delicious, with a perfect touch of sweetness and a fun twist you don't find just anywhere. We absolutely loved our experience at 1909 Temecula. We had been there before for food and drinks, and everything was always incredibly delicious, so when it came time to choose a spot for our welcome brunch before the wedding, it was an easy decision -- and we are SO glad we chose them. We worked with Christina from the events team, and she was truly amazing. She was super responsive, organized, and made the entire planning process effortless. Every detail was clear, communication was smooth, and she made sure everything was finalized exactly the way we envisioned. The day of our welcome brunch couldn't have been better. Our servers, Brandon and Josh, were absolutely on it -- friendly, attentive, and they never let a single drink run empty. Their energy and service made the whole experience even more enjoyable for us and our guests. We couldn't recommend 1909 Temecula more. I've been a frequent guest at 1909 because I've always loved the atmosphere, food, and drinks here. However, my most recent visit was a major disappointment and a far cry from the service I usually expect. I came in specifically to try the new Valentine's Day themed menu I saw advertised online. I sat at the bar to unwind, but the service was incredibly dismissive. Despite asking about the new specials, I was ignored by the staff and eventually had to find a sign myself just to see what was available. The bartender seemed more interested in chatting with a colleague than attending to guests; my drink took a significant amount of time to arrive, and unfortunately, it wasn't worth the wait. While the presentation was cute, it tasted like watered-down strawberry juice with no real flavor profile. To top it off, my food arrived without utensils or napkins. I had to wait and flag someone down just to start my meal. As a loyal customer, feeling overlooked and unwelcome was deeply disheartening. I'm honestly not sure if I'll be returning. read more

This pub is a true treasure ! Every person from the hostess to the server, to the bartenders, to the owner (who graciously gave me some of his time), was upbeat, delightful, and sincere ---( Insincerity is so obvious and always a turn off)... The menu is genius; tastefully constructed and artfully served! But what took me by complete surprise, were the truly gifted bartenders Jake and his cohort Mo. It is all the rage these days to brag about one's bar and local mixologists... But these guys are creativity reincarnate! I was amazed by the menu drinks, but after speaking only moments with the bartender Jake, he created a drink (off the menu) that was EXACTLY what I wanted! I have never enjoyed a drink more! It doesn't even have a name..it's original. This young man is truly gifted! I will go next month to Temecula for the sole purpose of enjoying another experience at 1909. Congratulations on your first anniversary 1909. I will be one of your regulars as often as I can! You have a long and very bright future ahead of you! read more

Ill be the first to admit that I'm not a big "yelper"...but...my lady still hasn't stopped talking about this place and its already been a week! We originally just came in for drinks and apps, but 2 hours later we ended up with a full meal literally under our belt. We started with the wings and I think it was the Harissa style...not only were they awesome but I was at the point where I didn't care that I had sauce all over my face. I just wanted to lick my fingers clean! Then after that, we started chatting up our server...I think his name was Chris. He was totally cool, and wasn't annoyed but our constant question asking. We were just so curious about the rest of the menu, even though we weren't that hungry. Ultimately, we ended up splitting the 1909 Burger and it DAMN good! I am so ready to come back to this place because I want to try everything on the menu. Seriously, this place rocks...everything from the Amazing Service, Awesome Food, and overall atmosphere. They definitely earned repeat business from this couple. read more
