What good can come out of Temecula? Try 1909 in Old Town Temecula! My wife and I saw a crowd in their sunshade drawn patio and decided to try this place out. The decor is hip and trendy. They have the dining area set up to be casual and inviting with dimmed Edison bulb lighting. It's not just the decor that was great, the food was great too! We ordered the shrimp and chorizo, chicharrones, and the smoked wild boar. So, the creamy sauce for the shrimp and chorizo was awesome! We used it to dip the chicharrones and also the boar (I like getting everything down in sauce). The chicharrones is freshly made to order. The boar meat didn't have much smoky taste, but the meat just melted in your mouth. We washed everything down with a triple chocolate stout...just an overall great experience....gotta stop by this place next time you're in Old Town Temecula! read more

I heard about 1909 from a friend who couldn't get in bc the wait was so long, so I decided to give it a try. The interior is wood and steel, so I'm t feels clean. I like the booths (where I sat) bc I had access to see everything, including the game! The lady next to me (not with me) ordered the shrimp ceviche... which I made a note not to order bc it looked soupy. Oh!... I also ordered the Sammie (chicken sandwich) it was good that I didn't get to take a pic of it. Also, watch out for the poles under the booth tables. I knocked my knee on one of the steel poles! First thing I wanna say is our server was amazing and sweet, I didn't catch her name but she was working Saturday night. We had reservations for a friend's bday and was seated outdoors. The burgers and the curry poutine was good but the Korean fried chicken was a bit salty. One thing I did notice on the menu that I would like to mention to the owner is PLEASE consider renaming your Banh Mi salad. It resembles nothing of a banh mi, Banh mi translates to "sandwich/bread". You would never find majority of the things you have in the salad in a banh mi. Especially a Thai peanut vinaigrette? On a dish you named after Vietnamese food? Probably better calling it a Spring Salad than what it is not, a banh mi. read more

Walked in on a Sunday night . Not even that crowded Sat at the middle of the bar . Two bartenders working . Not a single acknowledgment or greeting. Both bartenders stayed at each end and poured drinks and conversed. Waited about ten minutes to long. Never again ! Taking my business else where. Enter at your risk !Hate leaving bad reviews but when you take your customers for granted then I don't mine being brutally honest. Hopefully management will review and make the necessary adjustments. read more

Wait time is a bit long and you can't reserve over the phone unless you have a big party . Once your actually seated there's plenty of seating .. Celebrated daughter's 16th birthday. Great service ! we had reservations and due to the rain they kindly moved our reservation to the inside. Since the start Josh our waiter was so attentive to detail, kind, and assisted us with anything we needed. He was amazing,excellent he went the extra mile to make our celebration a good one. Great outdoor options with heat lamps to stay warm. The Bloody Mary had enough spice and flavor. I felt good after 2. Love the variety of options for starters. We ordered about 5 dishes to share. This is a very popular spot so be ready to wait for a table. Even if they tell you that wait time is 50min to 1hr, they will seat you down quick. We waited 30min. The food and drinks were very good and the waiters/waitresses are very attentive. They're also pet friendly. read more

I would like to think we came at peak time (12pm) however I understand the hour and half wait (went super quick!) My wife and I sat in the bar area and were greeted by a friendly server Sam. She happily took our order offering suggestions and telling us in detail about the food item we were torn on (secret...my wife can't make up her mind on anything!) the cauliflower came quick and was tender and paired well with the served sauce. My wife had the coconut blueberry rolled French toast (she's a sucker for blueberry) and I had the bison burger on a brioche bun! I could die and go to heaven now! Such a cool spot to hit up in old Town. Between the service and food you can't go wrong. We started with drinks of course and I swear with the different mix drinks you can't go wrong not finding one you wouldn't like. I had the resting brunch face all I can say is, it wasn't enough.(but is one drink ever enough) So freaken good but seriously two gulps and it was gone. We ordered the crab and shrimp empandas for appetizer , 1909 burger and for dessert the creme Brulee. Omg everything was so delicious and beautiful presented. This was the first trip to the charming town of Temecula ~ 1909 was very busy and we had to wait awhile to get a table, but it was worth it and we scored a table outdoors looking over the street. Our fish tacos were made with yellowtail tuna and absolutely delicious. I ordered a skinny margarita (off menu) which was terrific. JOSH was our waiter, and he was amazing, annswering my husband's questions about the the history of the building as he took our order. He exemplified what good service is all about, prompt, friendly, attentive. 5 stars for our waiter, the food, and the restaurant itself. read more

WORST PLACE TO EAT ! The staff and management had the worst customer service I've ever dealt with . I came into the bar mistakenly thought that it was open seating just as most bars and sat at a table at the bar. Not only did the person who refused to give me their name " Because he didn't work at the Yard House" (see attached picture) he chastises me about sitting at a table without checking in with the sever in front . He told me to leave and that I cannot dine there even if I was on the waiting list. Not only that but the place was filthy with empty glasses not picked up from the empty tables they had in the bar area. THEY DONT EVEN DESERVE THE ONE STAR THEY DESERVE NO STARS . read more

When the steaks came out, the waiters seem confused as if they weren't sure which plates went where and when asked if that's a medium rare steak, they stated yes. That steak was medium and it was also dry and under seasoned. It was also tough and chewy. The fries were either undercooked or overcooked. Chimichurri sauce had no flavor to it. At the end of the night, Leila asked our friend how he liked his steak because it didn't seem like he ate anything. He said it was okay and she kept insisting you can be honest and kept pushing the matter. At one point, the server forgot to put in my order, which was fine since we were all full, but it was a bit funny waiting for a burger that wasn't even in the system. We were excited to hear the band, but with some tech difficulties and having been there over an hour, we decided it was time to head out. I had the short rib Benedict , the meat was dry as if they were freeze dried , the egg did not flow and was more on the soft build egg side and not up to par at all. There Belgium waffle was server was crispy and not light an airy , sub par. You could get a more satisfying breakfast at dennys. Totally did not meet expectations. I ask if these were the same owners as a few years ago and they said they were in transition. There drinks were room temp Go at your own risk at least for breakfast. Good luck!

The server made up for all of the brisket shortcomings by providing stellar customer service checking on us frequently and ensuring our beverages were always full. The server gets 10,000 stars for being the major reason I'd go back. When servers go out of their way to treat me kindly and by providing creature comforts I didn't even know I wanted or needed? Been a good 24 months since my last visit. Monday business lunch with an associate. We sat at the bar, as tables all looked to be full. Bartender took our order. Settled on the chicken sandwich at $14++. Ordered the Caesar salad as the side. First impression; Came out FAST - perhaps 6 to 8 minutes. Huh? Grilled chicken sammy that quick? Not a solid grilled breast, but a couple sections. Was it pre-grilled and then held in a warmer? I don't know, just wondering. Served on a brioche roll with the signature "1909" branded into the top. Cute touch. Unfortunately, don't just want cute, I want good (and quality). Oh, bartender was running orders. Before she disappeared, didn't provide us with napkins or utensils. Minor issue, but a basic expectation. Someone else served the plates. Didn't know who had what. Always sticks in my craw when they have to ask. She was gone before we noticed missing utensils so we flagged down another staff member to provide them to us. Training, training, training (or lack thereof). I had a sandwich here previously on the brioche. Same experience this time as before. The bread falls apart easily and seems not fresh to me. Perhaps that is just brioche, or perhaps it is just 1909 brioche. Not again here. I now know if I am back, won't be ordering anything on this type of roll. Caesar salad has actual anchovies (which I didn't immediately notice) topping very limp, soggy lettuce. Be aware if you are not a whole anchovy fan. Can't comment on the taste of the dressing, as I chewed my first bite of salad it was overwhelmed by the saltiness. Big Caesar fan, so very disappointed. Also pre-made to overcome a lunch rush timing issue? Ate a few bites and that was it. Lastly, consistently batting flies away from the food as I ate. Not just one or two, more like five or more. Also, 105 degree day and one end of the building is completely open. Beware, as it overwhelms any a/c system and can be very uncomfortable on a hot day like this, plus if the flies are not originating inside the building, they receive an open invitation based upon the building layout. Really want to like 1909, but my three visits have all been mediocre. Sorry. read more

1909 is hands down one of our absolute favorite places in Old Town Temecula. Every single time we come here, we leave impressed. The menu is incredibly unique and eclectic, and honestly, I have never ordered something I didn't love. Everything is consistently SO good. Whether you're coming for brunch, dinner, appetizers, or drinks, there are so many creative options that make you want to keep coming back just to try something new. The drink menu is equally amazing. They always have such fun specialty cocktails and themed drinks, and I absolutely love how they do pop-up events and themed nights where they completely change up the menu to match the occasion. It makes every visit feel different and exciting, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into creating a fun experience for their guests. Whenever we have friends or family visiting from out of town, this is one of the first places we bring them because it never disappoints. Everyone is always blown away by the atmosphere, the food, and the overall vibe. It somehow manages to be the perfect spot for literally any occasion, whether you're celebrating a bachelorette party, grabbing drinks with friends, having date night, or bringing the whole family with young kids. It's energetic and fun without feeling overwhelming, and it really has something for everyone any day of the week. One of the biggest reasons we continue coming back is the staff and management team. Their customer service is genuinely outstanding. They are always incredibly accommodating, quick to respond for reservations or special requests, and they truly go above and beyond to make things happen for their guests. went back for 2nd time last night (Tuesday)- first experience was a 5 star winner for great food and service. Once again, we are told it was there soft opening but the place is packed- My wife was in the restaurant business for over 15 years and a soft opening should have limited seating so the staff/kitchen can have time to work there kinks out. It can take up to 6 months for a restaurant this size to work out all the kinks. Last night instead of a 5 star experience, we had a 1 star experience for food and service. Wife and I sat at the bar and waited 10 minutes for a bartender to offer us a drink. After we ordered drink- it took another 5+ minutes to receive it and instead of Vodka Tonic- they put soda water- it then took another 5+ minutes to correct that issue. We then decide to sit outside and have dinner- they have what I consider to be the best "thought out-creative" menu in Temecula - We ordered the chicken wings which were outstanding the first time we had them- but get the wings and instead of the Whiskey glaze they had on them the first time we ate- they have some lousy store bought hot sauce glaze - why would you change something that was so good the first time- hence I inquired with our waitress why these were different and found out the owners fired the head chef and were making changes to the menu- the server also told us no one understood why the chef was fired because the food and menu have been so successful-. you could tell she wasn't excited about the food any longer - what a shame as everyone we know who has been here has raved about the food. I came here to have dinner with my husband on date night. We sat at the bar and we were having drinks and dinner. The food we ordered was ok at best and the drinks at the bar were taking extremely long to come even though we were seated at the bar. I don't write reviews but I had to write one because of what I encountered while sitting there...I was seated next to a couple of young gentleman to my left...they were so rudely treated that I was shocked that this happens in 2019. They were waiting at the bar for awhile and when they finally got their drink they paid for it and started chatting with each other. They tried to order another drink but the manager Zach came up and started to speak to the in a very rude tone...I could tell by the young guys faces that they were caught off guard. I was taken aback by the rude manner of the manager, the young guys asked for the manager which Zach replied in a condescending tone that he was the manager and told the young gentleman they could leave and were not gonna be served anymore...The manager was extremely rude and I don't know what prompted this behavior...I was so upset my husband and I left our phone number on the receipt and waited for someone to call us...this behavior was uncalled for and I honestly don't know what prompted it..all I can say is SHAME ON YOU ZACH. I am sad that this behavior is ongoing in 2019...I don't want to say these people were discriminated against but thats what it seemed like. I will not be going back due to the behavior of Zach or the rest of the bartenders...I'm sure I'm not the only patrons that saw this. If I could give a ZERO I would. read more

Great location. I have visited the restaurant many times and always had great food and service. The Bison burger is probably the best I have ever had. However, up until last night I would have rated the restaurant a 5 star. I do feel I need to share my 1 star experience that we had yesterday evening. After my girlfriend and I had dinner I ran into a good a friend and they were celebrating a special day. I wanted to treat her to a drink to celebrate so on our way out we quickly stopped by the bar area. We were greeted by a young male that took our drink order. After waiting for a few moments and watching several people come in after us receive their drinks I grabbed the guys attention to ask about her drink and he tells us that he can't take order (come to find out he was only a bar back but pretending to be a bartender). When I asked him why would he pretend to take our orders if he couldn't serve us. He became very rude even laughing at us so I asked to speak to a manager the manager came up to me and informed us that he will not serve me but will serve my friend with a matter of fact attitude. I was completely taken by surprise and embarrassed in front of my friends and other people at the bar. If we were being rude or intoxicated I could understand but we had just finished dinner and were headed home. The restaurant is great but I will not recommend visiting the bar. There are many other establishments in old town that are friendly and welcoming. This happened on 7-30 around 10:00pm. read more

This place offers fantastic food, incredible drinks, and the holiday decorations are absolutely on point! We've been here before and enjoyed the burgers and beer, which were great. This time, we expanded our selection and tried a variety of dishes, including the Korean chicken, fried deviled eggs, and the ribeye with veggies and rice. The Korean chicken is absolutely mouthwatering - you'll definitely crave it later. The rice, soaked in the juices from the veggies and ribeye, was perfectly done and added so much flavor. As for the ribeye, it was cooked to perfection. You can't go wrong with a ribeye, but somehow, places still manage to mess it up. Not here though - they nailed it. We also tried their "shots for tots" (such a fun concept!) and I really hope the money goes to the right place. The shots were delicious, and their drinks were just as impressive. I'm from the Midwest, and while California's cocktail game can be hit-or-miss, this place absolutely gets it right. The drinks are perfectly balanced - not too strong but still give you a nice buzz without overpowering the flavor. Overall, I can't say enough good things about this place - I'm really impressed. It was busy, so the service was a bit lacking, but that's to be expected during peak times. I just wish our table had been checked on a little more, as that would've elevated the experience to perfection. We hosted our rehearsal brunch at 1909 Temecula, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! The staff was so communicative and accommodating throughout the planning process, which made everything feel stress-free. The food was amazing - the fish tacos were a standout, and guests are still talking about them! The cocktails were also delicious, perfectly crafted and just what we needed for a celebratory afternoon. Service was top-notch; the team was attentive and thoughtful, anticipating needs before we even had to ask. One moment that really stood out: we had forgotten a sign holder for our welcome sign and had it propped up to the side. A staff member noticed and immediately brought out a stand without us even saying anything - such a small gesture, but it really made us feel taken care of. We were seated on the semi-private front patio, which had a great vibe and worked well for our group. Our only small feedback is that we would've preferred the side patio, which felt a bit more private. Still, it didn't take away from the overall experience. I highly do NOT recommend this establishment! The reviews are absolutely misleading! I CALLED to confirm if I could RESERVE A TABLE by phone. They told me no, you can't make a reservation by phone, only by standing in line outside. I clarified how long the wait was, and they said 5-7 minutes. Fine. I'm with two kids, so I head over. When I arrive, they tell me the wait is 1 hour and 15 minutes. I made a reservation for 5 people and came back after 1 hour and 15 minutes, only to be told, "Oh, your reservation is for 2 people," and that I would have to wait an additional 1 hour and 50 minutes. I was in complete shock. The hostesses were absolutely unprofessional and had no understanding of customer service or hospitality! On top of that, there were empty tables in the dining area, but we weren't even offered the option to sit there. It was as if they just didn't care about accommodating us. I asked for the manager, and a man with a beard came out. When I explained that we had been deceived, he didn't even listen and simply said, "Wait another 15 minutes," and left! This is blatant dishonesty! Train your staff to give truthful information over the phone. Okay so if you're sleeping on 1909 in Old Town Temecula, WAKE UP because this place is absolutely it. We rolled in on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday and left with full bellies, big smiles, and zero regrets. We went full send on the menu and ordered the mini burger sliders, whipped espresso french toast (excuse me?? SO good), fried chicken Benny, and a smashburger. Every single thing was a hit and the portions are absolutely massive. Like, come hungry. Seriously. The service was speedy, friendly, and just all around great. No long waits, no wrong orders, just good vibes all around. We snagged a table on the patio and honestly the people-watching alone is worth the visit. Old Town does not disappoint as a backdrop. AND THEN. At the end of the meal our server came out with a dessert drink float topped with a sparkler, completely on the house, just to celebrate our friend's birthday. We sang Happy Birthday right there on the patio and it was the cutest thing ever.
