As an autistic patient with significant dental anxiety, I am writing this to warn others. I have stayed with this practice for 2 1/2 years because the previous providers were careful and neuro-affirming. Today was a complete failure of care. Clinical Safety & Professionalism: The new hygienist was incredibly rough, 'digging for gold' and causing me to bleed--something that has never happened here before. To make matters worse, they didn't even confirm my penicillin/amoxicillin allergies until AFTER the procedure was over and I was already bleeding. Judgmental Conduct: I felt deeply judged and stigmatized for taking Doxy-PreP. The hygienist knew nothing about it, had to look it up, and then treated me with an inappropriate, 'positive' bias. As a patient, I should not have to educate my provider on preventative care, nor should I be made to feel uncomfortable for my medical choices. The Office: There is a sign at checkout apologizing for a doctor and hygienist leaving, which explains the drop in quality. While the reception and checkout ladies are perfect and deserve 5 stars for their professionalism, the clinical side is currently unsafe and unprofessional. If you value your privacy, safety, and energy protection, I strongly suggest going elsewhere. read more

The staff put the wrong doctors name on m paperwork to my insurance and they wouldn't pay because it was a doctor out of network. when you call the recepionist Kathy says it's up to u to know what your insurance covers like they won't tell you before the work you have to guess what kind of place does that too there patient read more

Be careful of this dental office he's all business and they have no human factor. After developing a relationship with the dentist in the office for over a year it is very unfortunate to be the victim of damaging dental work in a dishonest dental practice. In the summer of 2023 following months and months of prep and planning dentist sunny Lou Play stay bridge a crown on the same side of my upper mouth. Directly following that visit the pain setting and I placed many calls to the office for relief. After trying to deal with the pain for weeks, I was just brushed off and given over five different antibiotics that they were aware we're not working. Finally I just showed up to the office along with my mother for support at 7:45 AM. It was clear to the office staff and the other patrons in the office that I was an agony and excruciating pain. After waiting over 30 minutes in their office and the staff trying to send me out of the office I asserted my rights that the doctor needed to Lance open the infection in my mouth to give me relief. After that the doctor took me back and my mouth is so inflamed and it was so painful I let out a scream and the neighboring oral surgeon came over to see what was going on. The infection was so bad that the oral surgeon was guarding the dentist on how to drain the infection and the oral surgeon who is typically booked out for three months gave me an emergency appointment for the very next morning. Even after the dentist dr. Soni Lou acknowledged that she did not explain to me that there was a possibility for a tooth to crack under the bridge or for the permanent crown for out, she told me in the office to make this right by refunding all the dental work and surgery to remove the infection. After I recovered I contacted the office today and have the office fail me and not refund me anything. The only things I gained from being a patient at first advantage dental more missing teeth no money to replace the teeth and a bill almost in collections for the remainder of the botched dental work. After diligent communication with the office they have left only one option for me to recover from this that is to file a lawsuit be careful of this dental office he's all business and they have no human factor. read more

Being in a customer service field and also being a retired office administrator I can safely say I have left the practice due to rude women answering phone calls. It was a difficult office to get through to for an appointment. Even my request to speak with the office manager was less than stellar. I seemed to be bothering the person on the other end of the phone with my voice. Over 2 months I've fought an infection. 3 antibiotics later the dentist and I decided the tooth can come out. I will not return due to the way I was treated while in pain being told "what do you want me to do about it?" ,by the female on the phone. And as stated I could hear the rude frustration in the office managers voice which made me snap back that I was aware of my appt but could not continue on that long. 2 months and 3 antibiotics which I'll take some credit for because of my demanding job. It wasn't the treatment as much as it was the awful inconsiderate females I dealt with. I thought about my decision to write this review was it pain are you angry? This place is an absolute train wreck. They should be called - just a place for teeth cleaning! It is worse then a puppy mill! Their website is fraudulent! I had a severe cracked crown, wide open! Called the number- answering service picked up. They said they would get back to me in about 20 minutes. 1 hour later, then the lady said that the on call dentist refused to assist- they advised me to respond to the hospital! I received another call back telling me to show up on Nov 28th at 7am and they would treat me, she said that she booked me in the computer and that I was all set! I waited the 3 days - 3 long, hard days. Show up Monday and the reception lady basically said - nothing she could do! She even said that she saw nothing in the schedule- not even a note! I also told her that the phone calls were recorded- she said that doesn't matter. So I couldn't believe this even was happening. She had no other suggestions, said no dentists were available for a week. I asked for the office manager - no! I asked her to call another 1st advantage for me- no! Then she says if I go to another 1st advantage in Latham that I would not be allowed back to the Clifton Park one! Unacceptable and so unprofessional! Just a number - they could careless! If I could give zero - they've earned that. I haven't been a patient here for ten plus years because they double dip on insurance - charge the negotiated rate to the carrier, then bill the insured full fare, even though they are not allowed to. I had to pay it to avoid a hit to my credit... That said, haven't been a customer ten plus years - just got a bill for $188 with a threat to collections again. This place is a racket and embarrassment to proper dental practices. Simply a "chain store" - while OK for restaurants, I wouldn't entrust my dental health to this fluoride mill..... Very unhappy with Dr Behlmer. Went last August with a front tooth that hurt. He did a partial root canal and told me to come back October 17. Returned to complete and after it was done he preceded to tell me he thinks I have a crack in the tooth and be very careful. He said I should have come back at an earlier date. I said you told me when to come back. He then said and I quote "I'm a very busy man. " I lost the entire tooth 3 weeks ago while on vacation. Very upsetting. I have a new dentist and I am able to smile again. read more

Went to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth out and having bad anxiety i was pretty scared but they got me settled in and did everything very nice, fast and professionally. They are all very friendly and understanding, I don't remember anything after being sedated but after I woke up at home. The dentist gave very clear instructions on what to do for the next couple of days for my mouth to heal and even called to check up on me. read more

Most of the first advantages are AWFUL. They can't just stick any doctor at these places to deal with people's teeth... their health! My mom went in there to have a crown put on one of her back teeth and is currently in SO MUCH PAIN. Turns out she had a cavity that had to be filled before the crown and now she has a tooth infection. I don't know the doctors name who did the crown, but he is male and Asian. She is currently calling specialists to see who can help her asap. She is on penicillin. Personally, I used to go to the 1st Advantage in Rotterdam and they could never correctly fill my cavity. I went in three time until I finally went to a private practice (Central Park Dentistry on Union St) where they were able to fix the problem on the first shot. read more

Referred for extraction of fractured wisdom tooth close to nerve and sinus cavity on 10/29. Prescription for Penicillin given by private dentist in anticipation of possible infection prior to extraction. Took first appointment available with Dr. Weiss (oral surgeon) 11/16 @3:50pm. Cancelled 7 hours prior to appointment time because of "double booking" issues. Not once was I asked if I had any pain or signs of infection and there was total disregard to any scheduling issues I may have had to make my appointment. Not able to be rescheduled for ANOTHER 2 WEEKS. This office is totally unethical and unprofessional! This office is aligned with Saratoga's 1st Advantage Dental. I left that office because of Dr. Knoll's unprofessional behavior when he ridiculed me in the presence of his staff when I complained of pain during one of my procedures with him. **Update 07/31: Received a second opinion today of proposed work. Provided x-rays taken from Glenville Dental (1st Advantage). This dentist acknowledged while there was some evidence of a problem, it was so slight that it could have likely gone for a long time without needing restorative service especially in the absence of sensitivity or symptoms. Bottom line: 1st Advantage practices in my experience (Clifton Park, Glenville) are hyper aggressive with their treatment approach. While technically justifiable, their system does not put patients first, but rather their bottom line. I have cancelled all remaining appointments with this practice and will seek care elsewhere. Original Review: First visit today to this practice for a cleaning, x-rays, and to establish care. Front office was friendly, and seemed well informed. Hygienist took her time and explained each step of her thorough examination. Cleaning was average. My family has been using the same dentist for many years, but due to insurance I had to find a new dentist for a couple years (back around 2006). I went to First Advantage in Clifton Park, and suddenly began having to get 3-4 fillings at every cleaning. I eventually returned to our former family dentist, and the cavities seemed to disappear. I ended up selecting Glenville Dental after moving to the area this year. I didn't realize that First Advantage was a chain, and had taken over Glenville Dental before my visit, or else I would never have gone to begin with. In retrospect I should not be surprised that this dentist also found several cavities that would require two visits to repair. The dentist referenced various "dark spots" (there were others that looked identical, but were not cavities?) as the evidence of cavities. Deja vu all over again. I contacted my insurance company, who suggested I have the office submit a pre-authorization so they could review the evidence of the proposed work. When I called the office, I was advised they don't normally send this sort of documentation as the insurance companies just pay for restorative service. They very professionally obliged to do so, however. I'm interested to see the results of this pre-authorization. Also, the hygienist was attempting to sell a fluoride service during my visit "because as adults we need fluoride"... This was a general statement, and not a result of her findings during examination. I was offered a fluoride treatment, and a fluoride toothpaste to purchase. This is the equivalent of taking your car for an oil change and being offered additional services simply because you own a car. This does not put patients needs first, but makes it obvious that sales are driven factor of their day to day. After doing more research and finding other patients who have mysterious cavity problems when visiting this practice chain, I will be getting xrays at another dentist for a second opinion. Regardless of the outcome, I am cancelling my relationship with First Advantage. In fairness, if the other dentist agrees with the need for fillings I will amend my review appropriately. read more

Chipped my tooth and was told I had to wait three months. I advised it hurt and I could not wait that long for the receptionist to tell me sorry that's the next appointment. I called an old dentist I had in Troy and one in Latham who would had appointments for me within the week. Secretary needs better knowledge bc there is no way it take three months for a chipped tooth. I will not go back. read more

I was seen by Dr. Mukundan for several visits. Fillings and Crown placement. He has great bedside manners. He explains everything that he is doing and why. This helped me tremendously with any anxiety. I would recommend him to all my family and friends. I am sure he would be great with children as well. Five stars to Dr. Mukundan and his assistant. The waiting area had plenty of literature. Clean and organized environment throughout. The only reason I gave 4 stars was....the office staff, checkout office staff had too much going on and I wasn't her top priority when the work in my mouth was finished. read more
