The hygienist was awesome. I went back a week later for 2 extractions. Dentist was polite and it went well. Two days later I developed a dry socket infection. I don't blame them. Those things can happen. I called the office and let them know what happened and that I needed to be seen They told me that I had to wait four days!! Then said to go to urgent care. I did. Urgent care laughed and said that this is your dentists problem. We do not treat this. I called back the dentist office and got the run around. I did get quite upset and told her I needed to be seen right. This kind of infection can migrate to your brain. I ended up going back to my old dentist who does not take my insurance anymore and paid out of pocket for treatment. I would not recommend this practice to ANYONE!! read more

I am a new patient and this was my first visit to this practice in Delmar. I had a GREAT experience, and I am A very anxious and scared person when going to the dentist. everyone in this practice was so nice and went out of their way to answer my questions at reception and during checkout. The person that checked me , Bree is a gem who spent quite a bit of time on the phone with my insurance company getting me the answers I needed. And their hygienist Pierrie is a wonderful kind man, who made me feel relaxed from the start and very comfortable in spite of my anxiety that had nothing to do with him. The dentist I saw was professional. He checked my teeth and told me the plan. I haven't had any work done by him yet. after dentist left the room Pierre took the time to explain to me in more detail and help me understand why this was the best plan for me and the lady who checked me out was also pleasant tho I can't remember her name A very good experience for my first time here. i'm happy to have found them. once I've had worked done by their dentist, I will come back to yelp and report on that, but I expect that will also be a great experience based on everything else I've experienced at this practice. very pleased with this practice so far. thank you. read more

Horrible experience. I scheduled a new patient appointment about 6 months ago. I received a VM yesterday at 4:02pm asking me to call to confirm. I called back at 4:16pm and left a VM confirming the appt and giving my insurance information. I received a call at 9am this morning saying my appointment for 3:20pm was cancelled. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told that my appt was cancelled because I didn't confirm by 1pm the day before. I explained to her that I didn't even receive the call until after 4pm. She said that's because they were short staffed. She said they didn't get a confirmation from me before they closed so when I asked what their hours are she said they close at 5pm. I explained again that I left a VM at 4:16 and she said the messages weren't checked before they closed. The manager took no ownership for the fact that this was a problem on their end not mine. read more

I would recommend this place for things like regular cleanings but not major dental work. They are a corporate chain and profit driven. The techs and front desk are all very nice. Especially Tricia. She has gotten me through this very grueling experience. The doctor I ended up with for this work is very unfriendly, does not explain what he's doing in my mouth, and doesn't even tell me when he's done. He just leaves the room and the tech is left to do all of his patient interactions. I left the office crying last time I had the temporary bridges put back in. They've fallen out 5x in 4 weeks. I've lost 8 lbs because I can't eat without them falling out and I'm doing my best to keep them in. I truly regret my choice of bridges rather than the much more expensive and involved process of oral surgery, braces, implants, etc. I wish they had informed me of my other options and discouraged me from filing down healthy teeth that I can never get back. I feel like a place with a little more integrity and less desire to make money would have told me not to do bridges. But I did make that decision, and it was 100% based on cost. I never thought I'd be fully familiarized with Fixodent in my 40s, yet here we are. As I stated above, my temporary bridges have fallen out 5 times in 4 weeks. I'll spare you the gory details. This doesn't seem normal, but maybe it is. I've never had major dental work. They did promptly fix it every time, however, so I'm giving them 3 stars, for courtesy, the niceness of the office and receptionists, and the willingness to repeatedly replace the failed bridges. However, I went for a second opinion today and was told that the reason the temporary bridges keep falling out is because my teeth are not prepared correctly relative to my bite. If this doctor hasn't figured that out by the 5th try, what are the chances he'll get it right for the permanent ones? I don't want his incompetence causing permanent damage to my teeth (what's left of them). So I'm taking my chances and switching doctors halfway through this process. My advice to this practice is to hire a better doctor who AT LEAST talks to his patients. I have no crowns on my teeth right now but I canceled my next appointment with 1st Advantage anyway. I have been going to this office for years. Previously when they were up the road and then at this location. I stayed with them because I liked the hygienist. He was very polite and did a good job. But over the last few years it seemed that at each visit I would see a different dentist. The last one I saw was the worst. He had a partial bridge made me for me and it didn't fit right. He had me leave the office after the fitting without even giving me a bite test. Well, the bite was all wrong and it was painful. So I went back the next day and told him. He did the bite test and it was way off. Well, yea, I even knew that and I'm not a dentist. He ended up grinding 2 of the teeth in the partial so far down that they didn't look like teeth at all. Took about 6 bite tests for him to get it right. Leaving the practice to find a more local dentist that is not part of a chain. read more

First the good news. I have been treated very well at the Delmar office of First Advantage Dental, particularly by Dr. Lina, but yesterday was not one of those days. I had a scheduled appointment for a post-extraction checkup. I walked in, presented myself at the reception desk, and was told by the lady sitting at the desk (Nicole) that I was not going to be permitted to see the dentist for the checkup unless I immediately handed over $288 because of some thousands of dollars that I allegedly owe. Shocked to say the least. I know for a fact that I have a zero balance. I don't carry balances. Anywhere. This afternoon I found the latest statement online and saw one error (being charged for an item that I did not purchase). I called my insurance company and then the Clifton Park office of 1st Advantage (Erica) and they all confirmed the other errors. Indeed, my balance is zero. The fact the person sitting at the front desk felt emboldened enough to deny me service, while looking at a statement that contains errors is pretty bad business practice. How am I supposed to ever go in there again, knowing that at any moment I could be denied service because their accounting people are not doing their jobs? Is this how the practice manager (Maria) trained the front desk people? I fear for the people who are not as literate as I am, who are not as self-protective as I am, people who are so cowed by the system that they wouldn't think to question incorrect bills, who stand there and take the humiliation and pay money they don't owe and probably can't afford while facing down a completely erroneous accusations of not paying a bill that one does not ACTUALLY OWE. Never will I ever walk into that office again, or any of their offices. They will get terrible reviews all over the internet, as often as I can write them, in as many places as I can write them. read more

Bryan is a star but the rest of the practice leaves a lot to be desired. A different dentist each time or no dentist seen at cleaning at all. Now they messed up the billing and are fighting with the insurance company. But they still send me a bill each month even though they tell me I don't owe anything. One of the worst, those people have no respect for their patients. They only care about money. Yesterday called them asking about $25 charges that they added to my aacount because I forgot to show up. Their customer sevice (Rachel) who indicated that I am stupid that I should have read their fine prints and understand that there are a $25 fee for not showing up. My uargument was that I should have been worned before they do that. She insisted that I am stupid for not reading their fine prints. She was willing to lose my familiy business (7 patients) forever and not take $25 fee off. Wow read more

I would describe the experience of dealing with this dental office as dealing with a car dealership. While they have top of the line equipment and excellent doctors, the office is more concerned with money than teeth. They have tried to push all sort of unnecessary procedures such as removing my wisdom teeth, and attempt to overcharge for the medically necessary procedures. read more

I wish dentists and hygienists would/could disclose if they've had a covid-19 vaccination and when. I would love to get dental care but I have health issues and dentistry is a major concern during this pandemic. I know that vaccination is voluntary but some employees may be willing to dislcose their status to help vulnerable people. Knowing that my providers are innoculated would help immensely! read more

There has been such a high turnover at this dental office that I have been seen by three different dentists over three years. The x-ray technician here needs more training because she keeps taking the wrong pictures so much that my deductibles for my x-ray is spent for the year! I don't mind if they made a mistake but they billed their mistakes to my insurance company. Also, they lack equipment to do a proper filling on my tooth and the dentist did not even check my bite after she was done and I had to tell her my bite was off before she did something about it. I suggest checking out another place before you consider this office. The front desk staff lied to me when she told me she will make a copy of my records when she didn't. read more

I have an infection in a tooth, which is abscessed. My jaw is swollen, lymph nodes hard and painful, and I am in agony. I haven't eaten in over a day because of the pain and have been taking 1000 mg of ibuprofen every two hours, such that my stomach hurts now too. My jaw, neck, ear and side of my head are throbbing with pain. No sleep. I went to this dentist because they accept my insurance and are close by. The facility is decent though the front desk staff have no personality whatsoever. The xray person was very nice but clearly had no idea why I was there even though I had written it all over the intake forms. Then the dentist came in. She did not introduce herself, and did not seem to speak English very well. She proceeded to tell me that I might have referred pain from other broken teeth, until I insisted I had an infected tooth and pointed out the xray, which clearly showed an infection. She eventually decided I needed an antibiotic. When I asked about the pain she said "chew soft food." What?? I haven't eaten in a day and can barely tolerate just sitting there. When I reminded her I was gobbling handfuls of ibuprofen she said "have you tried mixing ibuprofen and tylenol?" I walked out. The doctor had not read my intake paperwork. She seemed confused and uncertain and totally ignored my reports of horrendous agony, that I have endured for three days. As I sit here and type I am in so much pain I can hardly see straight. She had the power to relieve this and did not. I am horrified. Scheduled with another dentist, days away. I am literally writhing in pain while waiting. Stay away if you want a real dentist office. read more

I ended up here as my dentist of 30 years retired and sold his practice to these guys. With my old dentist it was a always a quick in and out-everything looks fine. OK I missed a couple of years when going back to these guys-shame on me. The hygenist was very thorough and I needed it. She was a little preachy about flossing but if she wasn't I wouldn't have started paying attention and now i am (almost) flossing everyday. So she did her job and I am better for it. I was a little concerned that this new dentist was finding cavities and a little suspicious after reading other reviews. I was scheduled to come back for a major cavity work and possible crown. Me a crown! How could that be! Well after a couple of weeks I noticed that the tooth in question was sensitive and the gum was a little painful. Another words that tooth needed some work and this dentist-Gardocki saw that. Looking at other reviews, I saw that Gardocki was characterized at lacking good bedside manner with a patient. At first I thought the same and it was coupled with suspicion about the need for the work. Well I needed the work and he was just fine. He constantly asked about my comfort. He was providing the right amount of detail about the work he was doing and where we were in the process. I think Dr. Gardocki is fine and he really seems to know his sh.......stuff. Attendant was extremely rude and condescending while cleaning my teeth, and I decided to leave before my consultation. After I had conversed with her in English about my dental x-rays she thought it was appropriate to ask if I spoke English. I have been lived in the U.S. my entire life and found her incredibly ignorant an insensitive. I hope her ignorance is not shared with her colleagues. I moved to the area recently and went to this place (74 Delaware ave) for my regular check-up. Like the previous reviewer, I also experienced the same thing - they are just after your money. Every business wants to make money but they have to be ethical. I can honestly tell you this place is not. They took a bunch of unnecessary x-rays even after I sent them a series from my previous dentist from 6 months back. They charged me for a "follow-up" appointment when they actually promised me it was really free. They wanted me to get a bunch of cleaning and scaling when it wasn't that necessary and called me about 3 times in 2 weeks for available appointments in the next day or so or the same afternoon (when you call them for an appointment they give you one 3 months away, lol) I saw him only once but I wasn't impressed with Dr. So as a dentist. Maybe I am biased based on the above experience or maybe I am not. I recommend avoiding this place like a plague. Even if you are planning to go there for whatever reason, be very careful with the financial aspects. Ask what the overall charge is to the insurance company and what your portion is, etc. If they overcharge the insurance company will reject their claim and you will be responsible for that portion. Best Dentist EVERRRRR. Staff make you feel very welcome

I was a patient here for about 3 -4 years and had very good experience with the hygienist I saw, however, there was a new dentist every time I went which led to disjointed dental care - a lot of plans were made, but not much done. Most recently, I had an appointment for a crown. I had called the week before to see if there would be any charges for the upcoming visit and was told there would not - my insurance would cover it. Upon arriving for my appointment, I was given a sheet of paper to sign agreeing to what I was told were additional GHI copays for certain procedures (one of which was a crown). I was unable to keep the appointment as I didn't have the money to pay and was given no other option. I later found out that the charges are NOT GHI charges but additional office charges to cover the increased cost of materials and that only GHI patients were being charged. I asked about a payment plan because I'm unable to pay what they wanted all at once and was told upfront payment only. Pretty sleazy was of doing business - it's all about the money - not the patient needs. Don't go there! read more
