Sadly, after 5 years of professional dental care, I can no longer recommend this practice. Two months ago I was informed my wonderful dentist, Dr. Iyer left the practice to work in Mid-Town, only to find out he was merely 10 minutes away. Why lie? Against my better judgement I choose to stay and have a crown replacement complete by Dr. Solomon, only to find out on day of appt, I was passed on to Dr. Iyer's replacement, the new dentist. It went downhill from there - injuring my tongue during the crown removal, a 90 min procedure was 3 hrs, with no explanation or apology. When I reminded the tx coordinator Dr. Iyer offered to replace composite filing at no charge, she tried to contest it. It was supposed to be done at my deat appt, it wasn't. No mention at all. So many other small issues, that all added up. Office manager Holly was rude and abrasive, saying this office is her "family" and they treat patients like family. My family isn't rude and condescending, saying she doesn't have time for my complaint. What a disgrace that this is the management representation for a growing professional dental practice. I am awaiting a call from Dr. Vaugh, but not holding my breath. If she should contact me, and make this right, I will update this review. If there is no update, she did not and I suggest you take your business elsewhere. read more

Was and I repeat was, a long-time client. My daughter went in for an annual only to learn that our Insurance benefits were maxed out due to wisdom teeth removal earlier in the year. So we were not able to proceed with the appointment because out of pocket was going to be over $400 and they insisted on her paying the $50 cancellation fee. Absolute crooks -- used car salesmen -- all they care about is $$$. Went in for a cleaning -- first they present you with a treatment plan where they add extras -- have to have those removed. Then they check you gums and miraculously find one "area" that needs a deep clean. A very expensive procedure. I decline and advise that I just want a regular clean . She argues and tells me it would be against their code of ethics to not do the deep clean. I walked out. My search for an ethical dentist continues. I should have known with this place and it is the same reason I stopped going the last time when they found a cavity that no other dentist had found .... just 6 months before. Dawn is the worst hygienist ever. Combative and prejudiced. Never informed me that if my gums started reading 4, 5's I would have to move to deep cleanings which are needed every 4 mths. As an educated young woman, I expected to be educated regarding next steps. Furthermore, she talks to me (her tone of voice) as if I'm a baby and I'm not comfortable asking questions because of her tonality as she responds. I really do not know why it's taken me so long to decide to leave this place. Overall, as I shared even with the office, it would be nice to see black dentists and hygienists in this space. MONEY HUNGRY UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE (Ashley is Amazing) I discovered that I have a cavity in my front tooth and I went in to have it repaired. I explained to Dr. Stephanie and everyone that assisted me that day, that my insurance company had a limit for the year of $1500. I also explained that this is the only procedure that I wanted because I had a hole in my tooth and I was experiencing some pain. I explained my financial situation before starting any procedures. I declined every service they offered as the fees were numerous. I reiterated that I was there to have my front tooth repaired. They advised they needed to take x-rays and that they would do a cleaning. I was not advised that they would do a deep cleaning I was under the impression that they were doing one of the free cleanings that my provider offers. After they did the cleaning half of my mouth, they bill the insurance company over $700 taking away funds that I needed to fix the tooth. My issue with them is that they did not listen to my concerns. I would they be offering a $700 cleaning after I told them that I only have $1500 and that my priority was my front tooth? Why would I care about a cleaning if I have a hole in my front tooth? And to make matters worse I drove over 40 miles just to go to the dentist because I trusted them. So tried to make me pay $100 to book a dentist for the next appointment. DISGUSTING If your business is struggling just say that but don't try to take it out on the customer. Three weeks later I still have a hole in my front tooth. I will never go to this establishment ever again and I recommend that you do not go here because all they wanna do is overcharge you and have you pay excessive fees. AVOID THE WOODSTOCK LOCATION! The Woodstock location is giving 1st Choice Dental a bad name. They are not a member of the Better Business Bureau and I see why they choose not to join now. Dr. Vaughns staff all need replaced including Dr. Vaughn. Once they have your money they treat you horribly. After attempting to start an IV on me poking me 19 different times in both my arms and feet they were never even able to start aV and they blamed me for it. After waiting several months to get my appointment now I not only have to find someone new and start the process over but I also have to pay for it to be done again. The worst dental experience I've ever had. The customer service is the worst. They are so money hungry. I only asked for a cleaning and they did unnecessary unapproved procedures that weren't approved by me, the policy holder and made me pay for them when I disputed the charges due to me not approving them. Called to speak to the manager Heather. She has an nasty attitude. She would t let me talk, kept cutting me off when I tried to talk. She could care less about my concerns. I called here on a Monday, had to go out of the country on a Wednesday and had bad tooth pain for a few weeks. They got me in on Tuesday, the day before I had to go out of town. Not only did they get me in for an exam and emergency x-ray, Dr. John also completed the 2 fillings on the spot. I can't express how awesome they are and professional. I forgot Dr. John's assistant, maybe Korey, but they both were great and efficient. I highly recommend coming here. The very first thing you should understand about this back alley used car dealership of dentistry is that they are all about the money; patients are simply a means to an end for them. My first warning was when I scheduled an appointment with one of the dentists for a few days out, only to have them call me almost immediately with the offer to come in right away. They said that they didn't want to leave me suffering, and in my naivety I believed them, but later events would change this opinion dramatically. I initially wanted a bad tooth pulled after years of unsuccessfully trying to repair it, but almost at once they began with high-pressure sales talk in an attempt to get me to instead go with alternative (read: much more expensive) treatment options, even using language like "there has never been a better time to do this than right now" and "you will not find prices lower than ours anywhere" -- things I would expect to hear on a sleazy used car lot, not in a dentist office. Much to my eternal regret, I permitted them to persuade me and walked out of there with an invoice for $4706 worth of work to be performed over the next couple of weeks. This was paid for via a quick line of credit from CareCredit for $4800, which is where the fun began. Unbeknownst to me, the manager behind the counter maxed out my line of $4800 for no reason and without any warning, rather than simply charging the $4706 agreed upon. This is something I did not discover until doing my finances much later, and upon confronting them, I got three different stammered excuses from three different people (two of the excuses being directly contradictory to each other), but this was dropped entirely when new information came to light during the course of the exchanges. 1st Choice has an in-house savings plan for people without insurance, allowing them to pay an annual fee and in return save money on work done with them in the future. This /only/ applies to people paying cash out-of-pocket, and obviously someone coming in with a pain emergency and no insurance would be a textbook case of the sort of patient you offer this to, right? Not these champions of integrity. Despite speaking with an assistant, the dentist herself, and the manager in charge of accounts, not one of their employees ever once told me about the existence of this plan. They slapped on their saccharine smiles and let me pay out over $5400 in cash to them before it was finally brought up, once the expensive work was safely paid for and they were trying to get me to use them for regular cleanings. Needless to say, I was incensed that they intentionally let me pay full price for such expensive work and only tried to save me money when pitching cheap add-on services. Their defense? "Oh, we thought you were okay paying full price since you said you were paying in cash." That's right, someone in pain and having to pay thousands for emergency work somehow did not strike them as being a suitable candidate for their savings plan, yet it made much more sense for them to later sell me this $200 plan to save money on a $60 cleaning. That I was the POSTER CHILD of the sort of person the plan should exist to help out conveniently slipped their mind. When I became irate over this deception, they offered to apply it to my past work retroactively in the form of a credit with their group. Fine. Disgusting, but no lasting harm done. It was only weeks later that I found out they only applied this to the very last and relatively cheap portion of the work done and flat-out refused to apply it to the very expensive initial stages for obvious reasons. After numerous occasions of being quoted one price, only to have them wait until I was in the chair and ready for work before applying more of the heavy sales tactics and surprise price increases, this final nonsense with their money-grubbing tactics was the last straw for me. For too long, I convinced myself that I was simply misunderstanding them but eventually even my forgiving nature could no longer look the other way when there were so many terrible things being done in plain sight. There is nothing that can be done to undo the money wasted or pain I endured (I'm actually in more pain now than I was before I even met these people), but it is my fervent hope that this review can save even one person out there from the mistake of trusting these predatory vultures. You have many, many options in the area, so please learn from my mistake and take the time to read reviews and do some educated shopping around before making your choice. I want to thank 1st Choice Dental for taking me on short notice, within 24 hrs. Was having an issue with an infected tooth. Was greeted by Dr. Stephanie's assistant, who took X-rays and prepped me for the tooth extraction. She was very nice. Then met Dr. Stephanie, who went over my X-rays and then performed surgery. She is very good and also easy on the eyes. I go back in 2 weeks for a follow up. They are close to where I work, which is convenient. I believe I found a new dentist. Omg! I cannot believe I'm the first to review. This is going to get lengthy. I've had a terrible past with dentists. So naturally, I'm terrified OF dentists. I literally tremble and I get palpitations when I pull up to a dentist office. I had to go though because I had a broken filling that another janky dentist, who will not be named (starts with a C and ends with a T), did not fix. Soooo a whole new insurance provider and new dentist later, I stumbled upon 1st Choice. I must admit, their website was impressive and initially what drew me in. Very professional and informative. The day finally arrived and I walked in. Felicia (I could be spelling this wrong so forgive me) was sooooo nice. In fact, that's why I remember her name. How many times have you remembered the receptionists name?? She's that amazing! She made me feel so welcomed and they even gave me a welcome bag!!! Seriously??? Dental welcome swag?!?! This was already going great. It was time to go back to be seen and the dental hygienist was super nice, super helpful and understanding of my fear. She made me feel like besides my obvious need for a root canal, I was doing ok with my teeth. Dr. Kelly Vaughn came in and she was no exception. Very nice, very honest about what I needed done and my options, and gave me the best referral ever for an Endodontist. She recommended a prescription toothpaste and flouride gel (Enamelon) to prevent any further cavities other than the 1 I had. I wonder why the other place never did that? Hmm. I cannot say enough how much this office has changed my view of dentists, hygienist, and dental offices. Don't go to this practice if you have insurance that provides you with two free cleanings per year. I was taken into an exam room where I was presented with a "treatment plan" that would have cost over $200 for treatments my last, very competent, dentist never recommended for me. I said no so she took my X-rays. Then the dental hygienist came in, looked at my X-rays, and "found" a bone problem that my last dentist never saw as a problem. She presented me with a treatment plan that was almost $300 and when I asked her just to clean my teeth she refused since I wouldn't go along with her treatment plan. Unbelievable. read more

AVOID!!!! Was on BCBS list so I went in for annual dental visit covered by my insurance. "Exam" consisted primarily of an hour of attempting to sell me this or that service, but refused to even clean my teeth as part of exam unless I bought another service beyond what my insurance covered. I repeated over and over I did not want any service not covered by my insurance as part of my annual dental exam. And even then the xrays they submitted to the insurance weren't the annual xrays but the every 3-year xrays, and so BCBS wouldn't cover it! BCBS rep seemed surprised they didn't just get my existing 3-year xrays from previous dentist and do the annual set. When I called office to complain that I hadn't approved anything other than what was covered in my annual exam and didn't want to pay more on top of that, Heather (the administrator there) berated and tried gaslighting me. "Shouldn't YOU know what's in your plan?!" As if I'm sitting in the dentist chair and I have to direct them to exactly which xray to do, beyond saying REPEATEDLY "only what is covered in my annual exam." (You had to, since they were trying to sell you something else every other minute). BCBS told me dentist office had contacted them on several days before to verify coverage for appointment, so the idea they didn't know a 3-year full xray wasn't covered at that time seems a stretch to me. And if that one HAD to be done, why not explain to the customer up front, rather than coming around for money on the back end? After arguing, they did reduce the fee by half, which I then paid only so I would not have to ever ever ever deal with them again. But WOW! So yeah, I did get some xrays, a proposal for treatment of "cavities" (some of which turned out to be stains removable with over the counter stain remover), and an hour long infomercial trying to convince me I had "a chronic disease, like diabetes" which required repeated special treatments every three months. Dr. Stephanie Fransoso is a wonderful dentist. That Billing department needs to be retrained or fired. They have no clue how to verify insurance. You can give them all day long the correct one insurance and they do the same thing. The unbelievable part they have one in Woodstock GA. Believe it or not there were two sisters over the billing department. One was terminated and somehow, they forgot the other one. I only went due to Dr. Stephanie Fransoso. I will never go there again or advise it. They need some serious training on filing insurance. It reflects on both of their offices. The visit felt like a car dealership. Like others have said it's clear money is number one here. Everything was an up-sell or nudge toward spending more money. By the end I wasn't even trusting what I was being told because of the non-stop hard sell tactics. Then I was sent a bill for something the insurance said they should have explained to me. The short: Steer clear. I've been in pain a year and they LIE. The long: If I could give 0 stars I would. First, the dentist insisted I get my fillings redone because they were sure to crack/fail soon. I had zero pain and a nagging feeling I should let them be, be I got 2 done anyway. I was in so much pain afterwards. Didn't eat for a few days. I was told it was fine to feel that way for 3-4 days while my mouth adjusts. After the 4th day, I went back in. The said my bite was off and re did a few things. I left. Two days go by and I was l STILL in pain. I went back in, saw a new dentist there (a male) and he redid the filling completely. After he was done I was told 2 things, that the follow up visits and any charges would be dismissed on my account because of THEIR error. And I was told if my pain persisted I should see a specialist. Well, not surprisingly my pain continued. When I informed the lady up front, Anita, about it she insisted I come back in. She said she'd stay with me the entire time. But the thing is I'm not afraid of the dentist, I have no problems going. I do have a problem with someone sending me home 3 times in pain. I'm not going to allow an error to happen again at my expense. She informed me that I have a balance due of $20. I argued it, but Anita stated that it was for my last filling. The one I was told BY HER, I wouldn't be charged for. She refused to release my x-rays to my new dentist until it was paid. Find somewhere else to trust your mouth to. read more

Stay away from this money hungry dental group! Worst customer service ever, after speaking with a lady named Lisa, and they are clearly low on patients since they were calling to collect a balance on my account.... Yet, i went once for a cleaning in July of 2013 (which was covered by my insurance) and then canceled my follow up appointment in August of 2013. Here we are the last day of December 2015, and Lisa, calls my mom to get my contact information to pay a debt from my canceled appointment of $100. I am 29 years old, married, and have since changed my number so my contact information was not accurate. I called Lisa after speaking with my mom, who did not provide my direct information because she did not feel comfortable giving my personal info to a random lady calling about a dental debt (sounds shady). After speaking with Lisa, she informs me of my $100 debt BC I did not give 48 hours notice, yet I know I called and canceled BC I knew I would incur a fee, but she could not provide that information. To be perfectly honest, I could not even remember visiting this group, and she tells me I've been several times. I ask her to tell me when.... After she mentioned "well you canceled 2", I said ok, so when did I come? She said I came for a cleaning in July of 2013 and that was paid, but I had a treatment plan signed and ready to go which indicates the 48 hour cancelation. So we finally established I came in 1 time, after her condescending tone before of saying I've been in many times. I told her I had never received one document indicating my debt ever, and my address has not changed. She informed me that is not how they operate, they do not send letters and I should be more aware of my finances. I said how can I be more aware when I didn't even know this existed BC it was over 2 years ago!!! A lot has happened in 2 years and her reply to my number being different and contacting my mother was "well you should be more responsible and update your patient information". A dental group asking for money from patients who obviously found better care elsewhere who have not been treated in over 2-1/2 years, needs to rethink how they operate. She ended the conversation by saying she is just doing her job... If your boss or owner are begging you to call 1-time patients for payment from a canceled appointment from over 2 years ago, you should probably start looking for a new job. She also said she will be sending it to collections, I will speak with a lawyer and see how I can handle this bc I refuse to give them a dime. If this is all you read, DO NOT GO HERE! I visited them on 12/8/15, very unprofessional service and a horrible experience. I had went there with an appointment to buy their in house dental plan, but the nurse was not aware of that and was trying to sell me their daily specials. When she found out that I was there to buy the in house plan they took me out of the patient room and asked me to pay first which took over 15 mts for them to process. After that I was promised x-rays, doctor check up and cleaning. After x-rays they said they can't do the cleaning because they don't recommend it as I need treatment for $3000 and I need to make a treatment appointment and the free cleaning will happen after that. Basically I wasted almost 2 hours of my time and hundreds of dollars for nothing. The poster child for corporate, solely-for-profit dentistry. I had a cleaning and a filling for what was said to be a small cavity. Their car dealership/furniture store sales antics were giving me the creeps, but I agreed to get the filling there against my better judgment. After the filling I was in extreme pain, and visited the office three more times over a month and a half time period to get an explanation of the pain. The doctor initially said I needed a root canal, then the next week that I didn't and my tooth was just healing, and then the next week that I did need the root canal (after barely glancing in my mouth). I visited a non-corporate, family dentist for a second opinion, and the new doctor said that he was pretty sure I didn't need a root canal, but that my bite was off and seemed to be causing the tooth/root distress, not letting it heal after the filling. He did a full exam of moving my jaw around and assessing pressure points, applying cold temperatures and different pressure around the painful tooth and gums-- something 1st Choice never did. The new dentist gave me a referral just in case the pain continued or worsened, but that based on his assessment, it was just the bite causing the pain. 1st Choice's time with me was fast-talking, in and out of the room while just throwing around that I needed surgery. So in summary, the incorrect bite that 1st Choice created was causing the tooth with the filling distress, and I visited 1st Choice 4 times and they never fixed it. Instead of diagnosing the very easy to fix issue that was their fault (incorrect bite), they jumped to the absolutely most expensive option and the doctor, quite literally, shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know what to tell you." I received inconsistent information across visits, correct notes weren't taken, and their "look how interested we are in getting to know you!" at my first visit was so creepy. Whenever a new person would walk into the room they'd be like "hey this is [name], she's from [state] but just moved here from [city]. She likes [hobby] and [interest]." It was so uncomfortable/forced/awkward. An hour and fifteen minutes later I was still sitting in the lobby waiting to get in. After 5 people went in front of me I went to the receptionist to ask when I was going to be called. She said after my wife was finished! They literally scheduled me to sit and wait for over an hour in the lobby! After they called me in my wife had to sit and wait for a full hour while my teeth were being cleaned. There were several people working and other people getting their teeth cleaned but for some insane reason they decided that my time was worthless. I have never been so unhappy with a dentist and I will most certainly not be giving those people my money after such awful customer service. read more

I love this office and the team! I was looking for a dentist near my house and a friend referred me to this office, and wow was she right about them! The people in the front desk were very friendly and explained everything to me from the get go. They answered my questions and helped me find the best available date to start my treatment. In the past I've been scared to go to the dentist but this office really focuses on making their patients feel comfortable at all times. Highly recommend them! read more

My experience as a new patient at 1st Choice in Kennesaw was fantastic. The office was clean, comfortable, and tastefully designed. Before I was taken back for my cleaning, the treatment coordinator explained everything that my visit entailed, along with cost of the visit. Dr. Stephanie and every staff member I interacted with was kind, conversational, and thorough. My visit required a follow up appointment and I was able to schedule for the very next day. Came back for my cleaning and crown placement. I was already super impressed with my last visit and the hygienist Dawn just made it all the better. The cleaning used to be the tho I dreaded the most and I had some pretty rough people in the past. Dawn listened and answered all of my questions and was very gentle. I also received the mailed special $99 exam & cleaning. New to the area I made the appointment. They are welcoming right up to the end, when Dr. Vaughn came in. After her exam, I was told I had periodontal disease and needed thousands of dental work done. I have always had 6 mo. dental checkups for over 30 years. This practice would not clean my teeth after taking the $99 check without agreeing to a peridontal program first. I located another dentist shortly after who said that that there was no evidence of any kind of dental disease and was impressed of how well I have maintained my teeth. If you go to this office, be prepared to have periodontal disease and no cleaning. read more
