After meeting with 4 different pool companies on site, we are so pleased we settled on 1st Choice Pools. From the very beginning, the guidance, service, timely communications and commitment to their work was 2nd to none. Seriously. After meeting with the owner Daniel, his confidence and knowledge were undeniable. Contract signed, began working with Devin that week, lots of patience and advice getting us to an executable CAD drawing. Not pushy, really felt valued, Devin listened to our concerns / preferences and got us to a simple and geometric design we loved. The build went wonderfully, from excavation to pool fill - the program management and critical path was on point. In additional to the pool, we included two cement pours outside the coping to support a future grill and lounge area - fantastic workmanship. This review is about 10 months late, I share that because we recently had a minor issue - and without question, 1st choice returned and made it right without hesitation. Finally, a tip of the hat and the biggest thank you I can render to Estrella. Estrella was the front office interface, she was always 100% positive and professional. Her email / phone call response time was seconds not minutes and that is not an exaggeration. Responding to my questions on schedule, material inquiries, adjustments - Estrella was the liaison that brought it all together. We had a really great experience with 1st Choice Pools. We got a total of 4 quotes, we ultimately chose them because they had an answer for all of our questions, seemed very knowledgeable, and didn't try and rip us off. They are also a small business. For our design, we wanted a simple rectangle with a Baja step and umbrella holder, and later adjusted to add a waterfall. They were so helpful every step of the way. I was nervous about the pavers and turf in my yard getting ruined, but they did a wonderful job protecting it all as best as they could. Their timeline was also very realistic, they showed up when they said they would, and all of their contractors were friendly. I really have to credit Tim, the project manager, he set the expectation and explained what the yard would look like in the interim, the timeline, and how everything goes. I'm noticing some of the reviews are mentioning a mess or trash but it's a construction zone, so expectations are really everything here. When all was said and done, my yard was clean and put back. The office manager, Estrella, is wonderful. She was so responsive and helpful whenever I had questions. They also walked me through financing, which I had never done before, they provided information and helped to point me in the direction of who they've found to be the easiest to work with. First Choice should be your last choice! We had issues from start to finish and can't even get parts replaced because they didn't order them in time. There have been so many problems it's hard to remember them all but they chipped out the pool and replaced it with mini pebble which had to be entirely redone because there were areas that were smeared, they tried to start filling the pool on top of it and we turned off the water. The team frequently left garbage behind including dumping items in the wash behind our house and the side of our house, they gave us a filthy "new" chlorine tab holder, we were told the components would be replaced and they did not order any so now it's too late since the pool is done and filled. We are told they don't make them anymore but could have been changed during the process. They left the pool light dirty and replaced it in the pool and was not initially working. The filter was leaking and they just left it, they also did not leave the warranty or any information about the new filter. They replaced the ladder and left the old one behind; they were supposed to haul it away. We were told we would get a new creepy crawler; they didn't order it until I asked. Nobody did a final walk through. I'm telling you there were multiple issues and I regret using this company. read more

Horrible Service. They have been servicing my pool for my tenants. I live hours out of town so could not see the pool service for myself. They would send weekly emails that said who serviced my pool ect. Found out the emails are automated. They haven't serviced my pool in almost 3 months and I got weekly emails telling me different. I now have a green pool. Extremely green. It's been 3 weeks since I canceled service and today I got that automated email .... Lol. They don't do the work. They are garbage. read more

I am an out of state property owner who has used 1st Choice Pool Service for over 10 years. My pool tech called me last week to tell me that my entire filter needs to be replaced at a cost of $2000. He had taken it all apart and shared that he was waiting on my decision (and he left). When I asked if he would put it back together until I could make a decision, he refused, saying "there's no point because it's not doing the job". I called another pool company who not only reassembled the filter, but also gave me assurances that, while the grids are getting older, they are still function (translation: not at all broken/defective). This isn't the first time 1st Choice has left me hanging, but it IS the last. read more

Do not use this company, they take advantage of the elderly!! The owner Daniel is very unprofessional, he let my Mother know "He does not need her money" His Sister Sofia is who he sent to service my elderly parents pool. She told my mom that they needed to empty the pool and refill it because it was not holding chemicals. This is understandable, she offered to acid wash the pool while it was empty for $500, Sofia told her the pool would look like new. My mom knows that the pool was rough and that it would be hard to get that "new look" but she thought maybe they knew something she did not. Sofia later brought both my parents out to the pool and explained that she could not get it clean. My father told her that you have to get though the layers of calcium. She said she could not do that because the pool has chips in it and she did not want to make a hole, as she was showing him, the chips, that were actually dirt came off! If you look at the photos you can see where I circled the white area on the first step where she demonstrated and it came clean. Later my mom spoke with Daniel and he said it was very bad and it would not look new but he guaranteed it would look a lot better. Sofia used muriatic acid and a power washer and only cleaned the shallow end. What little dirt she managed to get up drained to the deep end and then she just refilled the pool leaving all the dirt a newspaper and a dead snake in the pool. (Please see the photos they were taken AFTER the cleaning.) The pool looks worse than when she started. My mother sent Daniel a message with photos and said she would take him up on his guarantee. He laughed at her and said he did not guarantee it. She said that she only pre-paid for half, and she would not pay the second half and that is when she was told "He didn't need her money" however he will not refund the $250 she already have him. He is scamming people! He never offered to come out and see it in person or send a more competent employee to rectify the situation. They say a photo says 1000 words judge for yourself. read more

Have viewed him several times trying to look into my home to see if anyone is home and then quickly picks up a few leaves, empties the baskets and then takes off. Daniel cuts corners and I do not believe he does what he is paid to do. He tries to do as little as possible and it shows in the quality of my pool. I asked why the price would be different with a community pool and he got angry and hung up on me. Don't do business with someone who won't answer politely asked questions that are only trying to gather information. People who are honest won't get angry with inquiry based questions. read more
