We always use 1st Class Heat and Air for our servicing needs. We had put off our routine maintenance for a couple years but set up this appointment a week ago. The technician was on time, he assessed our unit, it needed an acid washing and also needed a new capacitor. There was no pressure, but we listened to his recommendations, and he performed all maintenance in a timely manner. I was a customer for 22 years and 5 AC units to replace or repair . My last unit was put in in July of 22 . The first maintenance was about 5 months after to find a leak .I was charged to put dye in the unit to find the leak. The unit has stopped working and the coil must be replaced . With a new company , I found out that 1st class has been charging me double for faulty equipment and service . The third AC unit was installed incorrectly and the ceiling, walls, and interior wood had to be replaced and painted due to a severe leak. This company took advantage of me and overcharged me about 20 thousand dollars . I can not recover this money , but at least I may prevent someone from being overcharged and taken advantage of. read more

These guys tried to sell my recently widowed mom a new unit for $16k! My brother in law fixed it for $300. This is a scam and they should be ashamed for operating a business that preys on unsuspecting widows. They claimed the board was burned and it was perfectly clean. I was very disappointed to find out that the alleged issues the technician claimed were present on my mother-in-laws AC unit were, for the most part, a complete fabrication. While there was a legitimate issue with the blower motor not functioning, she and I were both told by the technician that there were burns on the back of the control board, cracks were visually found on the heat exchanger, low Freon levels, a noisy outside unit, and that the furnace needed to be replaced. She was quoted almost $15K for a new system or almost $6K for a furnace-only swap. After receiving this information a second opinion was obtained - there were no burns on the back of the control board - so that was a flat out lie; there were no visible cracks on the heat exchanger (and the proper way to test for a cracked heat exchanger is with a combustion gas analyzer while the furnace has been on for a few minutes - a visual inspection is only sufficient if there are cracks seen at the front of the heat exchanger, where cracks would be easily visible, but there was no evidence of cracks found by the second technician) - so another flat out lie; the Freon level was exactly where it needed to be (the initial technician could not possibly have tested for proper Freon levels without the blower fan functioning, which it was not) - so another flat out lie. And of course the outside condenser unit was noisy, as it was attempting to run in an incorrect state, while the inside blower was not functioning - it would of course make weird/loud noises before ultimately overheating and going into a safety shutdown mode until it cooled off and tried to run again - so a misleading statement that was designed to make the homeowner think their outside condenser unit was failing or had failed, without offering a valid explanation for the noise. Once the blower was replaced, the outside condenser operated normally, with no abnormal noises. Ultimately the problem was completely resolved with the second technician (not from 1st Class Heat & Air) installing a replacement blower motor for less than $300 total service call - this was MUCH less than the cheapest $6K furnace only replacement cost that my MIL was quoted initially (and only a small fraction of the almost $15K she was quoted for a full system replacement). Thank the Lord for knowledgeable people who DON'T want to take advantage of the elderly, females, and uninformed. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these folks, especially if you are a woman and/or elderly. And ALWAYS get a second (or third) opinion! read more

I had a fan failure in one of outdoor condenser unit and called 1st Calls Heat and Air as they installed two indoor AC units few years back. Technician was quite skillful, diagnosed a faulty motor and replaced with new one. The first one did not work and then replaced with new one next day. Since I had enormous trust in technician since my first interaction 2-3 years ago, I accepted $1,100 for motor replacement cost. Upon searching for same make of motor, I found it costs only $208 max. And when I called owner, he straight forward said they don,t negotiate service cost and are flat rate charge company. Can't believe they cannot even justify the price they charge. It's weird to see the negative reviews on here. I'm very skeptical about service companies, because I've had plenty of bad experiences with poor service and ridiculously high prices. But that's not been my experience here. We've had two a/c emergencies, two years apart from each other, and called them both times. Both times, they came out and did a major job on the same day. Both times, I checked prices online afterward (when it's 90+ degrees in your house, you don't have time to shop around), and the prices we got were fair. Both times, the part they were replacing (furnace first, condenser second) was well past its life expectancy. Again, I checked online afterwards, looking up serial numbers, and our condenser was 20+ years old. They warned us about it when they replaced the furnace, but we weren't ready to pay for that. I've had nothing but great service, and they've saved us in two Texas summers. Call me a loyal customer. read more

This place is the bomb, in a good way. We noticed our upstairs A/C went out when my wife went to put the kids to bed on a Monday night. We called 1st Class Heat & Air 24 hour emergency number and were told a crew would be out the following day at 9am to figure out what was going on. We knew out A/C was old and probably needed to be replaced. They recommended the entire system be replaced and we agreed. They had an install crew come out at 1pm the same day to install the unit we agreed to. The crew worked until 10:30pm that same day to finish the installation. It was 108 degrees outside and 103 in our upstairs room. I'm not sure how the crew can work in the attic in that extreme heat. What amazed me the most was that from realizing there was a problem, having it figured out, and having the entire replacement unit installed was all done within a 24 hour period! I did have one thing that came up on the thermostat and called the next day. We were promised a nicer thermostat than what was installed. The sales person was very understanding and sent the crew back out to swap out the thermostat for a nicer one that we were promised. I highly recommend this company for any A/C issues you might have. We had our downstairs A/C replaced about 5 years ago and it's worked great. read more

I want to say how pleased I was with Keegan Dutil with A1 Heating and Air. My AC went out late evening! I called to get technician on July 3! Not great week to have a AC problem. I've been a customer of 1st Class Heat & Air for six years and always received excellent service. My current air conditioning condensing unit was less than ten years old but required numerous repairs due to poor quality parts and workmanship by the manufacturer. I recently contacted 1st Class Heat & Air because the unit was no longer cooling. The diagnosis indicated a replacement part supplied by the manufacturer from a previous repair had failed again resulting in extensive consequential damage and costs not covered by the manufacturer warranty. Since it was not cost effective to continue repairing the poor quality unit, they made a competitive offer to replace the condensing unit with a brand that had a significantly higher reputation for quality and reliability than my existing unit. The new unit was promptly installed the next day to my complete satisfaction. I highly recommend 1st Class Heat & Air due to their outstanding integrity and service quality. read more

I'd give them zero star if I could. Go and find a more competent AC company. My two 4-year old AC units were not efficient early this year so I called 1st Class to check them up in May. They told me my refrigerant level was low and there must be leaks somewhere in both systems and suggested put a die in each system to perform leak search. My refrigerant level was also low last year, so I gave them the green light. However, when they came back two weeks later, they couldn't find where was leaking. So I spent $500 for nothing and another $500 to fill up the refrigerant, which turned out to be nothing as well because it all got leaked again in months. Yesterday, I called another company to check my units again and it didn't take them long to locate the leak. They used a meter only instead of a die to locate the leak, because they think the die is bad to the system. I didn't have to wait two weeks either because of this approach. It turned out the leak was due to the coil and I learned later that 90% of the cases the leak is in the coil. And this company told me that they could feel the oil and water coming out of the coil, besides the result coming out of the meter. This sounds so obvious so I don't understand why 1st Class couldn't find it. Anyways, this other company helped replace the broken coil today and luckily the parts is still under warranty. I'm glad that I called another company this year because the warranty is going to expire in months. So don't be tricked by the low service call fee. It is more important to find a competent AC company, because their incompetency will cost you more down the road, not to say their higher refrigerant price compared to other companies. read more

When called them after waiting for 3 hours, lady on phone told (who is helping this business to close down BTW), lied that we called you many many times. When in fact i was waiting for their tech to come holding the same phone all the time. When asked about reason, she suggested to get the refund rather resolving and taking care of it. The temps this week are supposed to steadily stay around 99*. The inside of our house was hotter than being outside. Got out of work and just as promised... 5 pm Chip came to our rescue. They worked around our schedule. He tried to fix the AC by swapping out a worn out part but the machine wouldn't budge. Chip tried again with a higher quality part but the AC was shot. This unit was 12 years 1 month old... Solution = we needed a new unit. After figuring out the finances Victor and his grown son soon arrived to do the install. They know their skill!!! These guys gave it their all to get us (including our dog) comfortable today...they left @ around 9:45 pm. PROMPT and PROFESSIONAL... These men live up the their company's name. AC is a necessity in TX not a luxury, get some from these guys if yours is broken. read more

My A/C was cooling intermittently for a couple of days until it finally went out on a Friday night. I called 1st Class because I had used them before. The last time, they were able to fix my issue at a small cost, so I was hoping for the same. I was given a range of two hours for the technician to come out, and he was only about 15 minutes late, so I was okay with that. I'm just glad he was able to come out so late on a Friday night. The tech's name was Chip, and he has been doing this for over a decade now, and his experience showed. He was able to diagnose the exact issues and fix them immediately. He was in and out in about two hours. The cost of the repair was a little high for me; especially since the last time was so little, but I imagine it would've been a pricey repair no matter where I went. I just had peace of mind knowing that Chip took care of me this time. His expertise made me feel better about the amount I spent. I didn't have to replace my unit, so that's a good thing, and I'd been in that house for 10 years now. If I ever need air or heating services, I'll definitely call 1st Class and specifically ask for Chip. I always go with the guy who has the most experience. read more

I think this company does a good job on fixing AC problem, but I question their pricing. I used them to fixed common AC problem, but just this past week, my AC completely stop working and determine by 1st Class Air technician to be unrepairable. I agree with the diagnosis, because it's a very old unit and replacement was overdue. I got a free estimate, which was $7,400 for a new AC Unit with gas furnace (Rheem 3-ton, 13 seers)...Naturally, I thought it was over priced and told them I will think about it. After doing some research, I found the average cost for this AC unit is around $2,000 to $2,500 range. So this tells me they charging $5,000 for labor and other fees.... I was able to find a much better AC Unit (Rheem 4-ton) with installation by skill technician for $4000. I'm so happy with my new unit and glad I went with a different company... Anyway, to make the long story short, this company is OK for simple repair, but look somewhere else if you need to replace your AC unit..... read more

Do NOT trust this company. I had them come out to figure out why our AC went out. We talked to our friend who has an AC business but lives far away and couldn't make it out soon. He said it sounded like just a simple blown fuse. I specifically asked the gentleman who came out if it was a blown fuse and he said "I wish it was that easy of a fix." He kept telling me different things were wrong and then said he was going to double check something outside and came back in with his iPad with $1100 dollars worth of charges for a "burnt low voltage wire." He left and we talked to our friend who has his own company and he said that was ridiculous and that he'd come out and check it out for us. I called 1st class technician back to see exactly what they needed to do and he ended up saying that he didn't really know what he was wrong but that it would be hours of labor to figure it out. Our friend came out and a little fuse was out. Took 2 minutes to plug in and air was up and running. Either this technician didn't know anything about air or he was just trying to manipulate me to make money. UPDATE - I talked to the company and they said they had just hired this technician and he was very upset that this had happened. My brother in law has had great experience with this company in the past so it was probably just that new technician. read more

BE WARY OF THE 5-STAR REVIEWS. The technician came out on time. The inspection of my home A/C was done reasonably quick. This is the only reason I gave them 2-stars. So, then what happened? STICKER SHOCK! The quote for the TXV replacement was 50% higher ($950 total) than what I eventually got the repair done for. I ended up paying under $600, all parts and labor by using a different co. ALSO, I turned down the $2400 quote for the replacement of the entire coil. It was less than 4 years old. REALLY? Glad I wasn't misled into doing agreeing to that repair. Plus the technician kept on trying to sell me the $129/yr maintenance agreement. I ignored answering him after the 4th sales pitch. Afterwards I was presented with a bill for $80 for the initial inspection. I had originally called in to the company dispatch based on the $39.95 internet rate from their website. I pointed that out to the technician and he corrected the bill. FWIW I phoned in to ask about reducing the quote since the part is under warranty. The dispatch tells me its the technicians decision whether to pursue the warranty replacement. The technician told me its the managers decision. The final answer was NO discount even if the part is under a manufacturer's warranty. ALSO, use google to check info on repair costs. Verify with manufacturers what is required for warranty repair. Make certain you register with the manufacturer. Read the mfrs website about ALL the details required for them to warranty a part. For example, a compressor's warranty requires that you replace the drier, otherwise your are SOL. read more

Called in for a quote to replace existing AC unit with a budget in mind, he flat out categorized my budget as a low end budget does not deal with it. I understand them not being able to cater my needs but a little more humility and customer service would go a long way in this business. I have never dealt with a more psychotic company in my entire life! I'd give negative stars if it were possible. My outdoor unit starting to sound really bad, so I called 1st Class Heating to come check it out. The fan was going out. I was told, since it's such an old system they'll have to special order a motor for it, and it will run between $500-$700. Ouch! I said, ok if it needs to be done. Next day I had to call to see what the total cost would be...$700. I asked what's the breakdown of labor vs. parts. I got a labor rate and then vagueness. So they come out and install the new motor. Afterwards I investigated to see how much the motor was since I wasn't told. It was $140. What?!?!? That evening I call the office to find out why a $140 motor would cost $700 to install. Right off the bat I was met with hostility. How dare I question their pricing. For 10 minutes I'm using math saying, with a generous labor rate, it should only be a $300 job, what's the extra $400 for?? I got back more anger and hostility and he asks me, "how do you sleep at night?" I sleep very well thank you. Finally he says, "look. Here's what I'll do. I'll give you back your check and take the motor back." I said, "will you put my old motor back in?" He said, "no!" So I said, "No way. I am not going to be left with a non-functioning unit on a hot summer day. I will keep the motor and chalk it up to an expensive life lesson." You'd think at this time the situation would be over. He has my money, and I now own a new a/c motor. Wrong! A half hour later there is a tech, trespassing on my property and attempting to steal my motor out of my a/c unit. I said, "what's going on here!!!" He said he was ordered to take back the motor. I told him to leave the motor and get off my property. Had I not been home, MY motor, that I PAID for, would have been stolen out of my a/c unit, thus leaving it inoperable. So any company that would try to steal your property because you made them mad is just plain psychotic!! read more

At 7:30 last night we discovered our Air Conditioning was not working. We were told that help would arrive in about an hour. Their employee who regularly services our system arrived at 8:40. He inspected the system and reported that both the compressor and fan "starters" were blown. He quoted the repair cost would be $553.90 and he had the parts with him. Obviously, I was greatly relieved and asked him to proceed. He completed the repair in about 45 minutes! Our bedroom temperature was comfortable when we went to bed a little after 10:00!!! We have used their service for a number of years and have always been glad to have discovered them. I suspect some companies would have tried to sell us a complete replacement system. With this company, that was never a worry. read more

Our workhorse unit (1 of 3) went out yesterday. Troy came out at noon and by 2pm we had a brand new 4 ton system in place and cooling the house. We did NOT get "up sold"like we have by others in past. I believe the reason the person below was quoted $7k was due to attic guts. We paid $3900 and were extremely pleased. We had to replace a coil last year in one of our other units. It was $3k with some other components.
