I bought my sister a gift certificate for Christmas to this salon. She went in and started with a pedicure. They clipped her toenails to the point of bleeding. Didn't scrub/buff her feet very much. Didn't file the nails and they were rough. She had to go home and file them. And they watered down the polish with acetone which made it thin and streaky. Terrible experience and the staff didn't care much. Don't go there! read more

Aside from a great pedi, if you are looking for an AMAZING MASSAGE, Lyly from 1st Nail Bar-Erie is your girl! I got the Signature Massage because of the longer massage time, since that is what's most important to me. I was pleasantly surprised at Lyly's variety of massage techniques that she obviously took the time to learn in order to please her guests. She spent a lot of time on my feet. Outstanding massage on legs, under knees and even around my kneecaps. Who would have thought that felt good? Very strong hands. She was so sweet and so appreciative of my tip for her. She also saw me filing my fingernails while waiting for my toes to dry and took over for me. She's a keeper! No longer will I go to Magic Nails in Erie. I've been going to this place a for now to get dip and pedicures. I've always had an OK experience, nothing outstanding but nothing bad either. Until my last experience. I came in for a Mani Pedi. I came in at 11:30 and had to leave by 1:50 in order to be home by two. Plenty of time. Had my pedicure first. it was smooth sailing. Then time for my Mani. A large group had come in in the meanwhile. They told me to sit in my pedicure chair and wait. 15 minutes later, my girl put acetone on my nails with gloves over the tinfoil and told me five minutes. She then went to the larger group to give a pedicure. I sat there for 30 minutes. My girl never checked on me. The lady next to her I tried to get her attention and she ignored me. With acetone on my fingers. It felt like they were burning through. Finally I was brought over to the manicure side. I told him my fingers were hurting and I needed to hurry because I was now going to be late to my 2pm meeting. He got the acetone off and handed me over to another lady. She said it was $55 for the manicure and $10 more for the manicure part. I was so confused. Shouldn't the manicure include the manicure? I asked what that meant and she said the cuticle part I told her my cuticles are really bad and I of course need that part. She commented multiple times about how dry my cuticles are. I know lady! I have bad cuticles I always have. I don't need you to tell me that. Especially after I've been sitting with burning fingers and I'm stressed out because I'm gonna miss my appointment. By then it was 1:45. I told her I had to leave. Paid and walked out with bare nail feeling deflated and frustrated. They didn't give me a discount or apologize or anything. I've never had a nail experience that bad. I won't be back. read more

The past two times I've gotten a dip manicure, it has barely lasted 10 days or just over one week. I returned to ask them to fix it the first time and I was charged the full price even though I was told "they would fix it." Eventually I got a small discount, so I returned for another set a few weeks later and it lasted 8 days before it started chipping on 4 of my nails. I won't be back; it's too expensive of a service for it to not last! read more

I had a great first experience at this nail salon. I asked for a natural dip manicure and got in right away (this was on a Wednesday around 10am). Everyone was super friendly and I was very happy with the nail techs work. She was efficient but I did not feel like she was rushing. She also gave me some direction on color choice and which product to go with since it was my first time getting dip nails. The salon felt clean and had a great atmosphere. Just okay, barely a massage on a deluxe pedicure. Other salons nearby do much longer service. Felt rushed when the place was empty. There went $100 for my daughter and I in a rushed 30 min what seemed like an express pedicure even though deluxe was paid for. I even asked was that the massage? My first visit to 1st. I've called a few times in the past to ask for last-minute availability and they seem to always be busy (I also stink at planning ahead and making appointments - I am who I am). Today though, they had availability so I got in right away for a dip mani. COVID precautions: I was asked to sanitize my hands first thing, we both wore masks the entire time, and they still had plexi up between nail techs and customers at every station. The two nail salons I've been to recently had these precautions at one point during the pandemic but seem to have since gone by the wayside. Glad to see that 1st still does it all. However (and ultimately the reason for my 4 stars instead of 5), I remain disappointed in the number of salons that no longer sanitize/package tools separately - 1st does not. Generally speaking though, it's a very clean, bright, calm environment. Cathy was my technician and she was fabulous! Attention to detail, a pleasure to talk to - efficient and timely. I will absolutely ask for her next time I go! Lastly, they were $5 less expensive than the two other places I've been to for the same service which I'm hyped about. Thank you for a great experience today - looking forward to returning in 2-3 weeks!!! read more

If I could give no stars I would! I have never experienced such a painful manicure! I wanted it to end before she was even done! I tense up during them idk why I just do. And other people just tell me to relax. Not Cathy she pulled and forced my hands to move. To the point I had to take Tylenol they hurt so bad when I got home! She also made a comment to me saying I was the worst client to ever sit in her chair! On top of this she left all the dip powder and paint underneath my nails. I was picking it out the whole way home ! When she had finally finished she did not give me any lotion. And my hands were dry. When paying 100+ for a manicure the least you can do is get the excess off underneath the nail and put lotion on my hands! read more

Rip off! I went since I normally go to a competitor in the same shopping area. They were offering 20% off so I opted for dip nails and gel pedicure. Not only was my dip just so so but when I checked out I noticed my bill seemed high. I asked the girl if she included the 20% off and she said she did, come to find out that she hadn't when I asked her to print me a receipt. I thought I'd try them out since they are a new business in the are. It is a small salon that focuses on gel, dip or acrylic nails. Very very small selection of regular polish. I opted for the deluxe pedicure, it was $55. The tech was very sweet. The massage was meh. There was no technique and it was quicker than the standard pedi at most places. After I got home I noticed my cuticles to be very rough and there are small spots of missing or uneven polish, luckily I chose a light color so you can't tell from a distance. I will be going back to one of their competitors close by rather than returning here. Bummer. read more

the manager was an angel, however the customer service was very poor. the lady doing my nails was on the phone the whole time and kept coughing onto my hands. after she finished she ran out of the store in a hurry. they never welcomed you into the store. the prices were absurd. they charged me $80 for a full set french tips. other places i have gone will charge you $35-40. i am very upset and will never be going back. read more

Walked in and was told to please take a seat and wait. Waited for 30 minutes. A mother and daughter walked in without an appointment and were both taken back before me. Then when I asked I was told to stay seated they would get to me when they could. Then another woman walked in and they seated her before me. When I got up to walk out they said no no wait we can help you, just wait. I waited over an hour, was treated poorly, and did not feel as if my business was wanted or cared about. Went in for a gel manicure. Very poor cuticle trimming, and the tech actually crossed her arms and pouted when I asked her to trim my nails instead of just file them. Paid extra for a decoration on my nails. Five days later the polish was all peeling up from the bottom, and 7 days later, the polish was nearly all off. I went back after the 7 days to show them what happened, and was made to wait in a chair for 40 minutes while others without appointments were helped and they acted mad I had returned and repeatedly asked me when I had had them originally done. All that was done was one color quickly painted on my nails-did not redo the decorations that I had paid for-and ended up with nail polish all over my cuticles and sides of fingers. There was lots of talking not in English and laughing while the polishing was going on. Never got an apology for my wasted time and money. Far cry from their mission statement! Will never return. read more
