I was scouring the entire Beaverton area for any Korean Corn dog places to eat at after we found out that Two Hands in Hillsboro had recently closed their doors for good. One door closes and another door opens in this case. After searching on Yelp, we were glad to find this place in old downtown Beaverton and so my daughter and I decided to check it out after watching the Masters of the Universe movie at nearby Century 16. The Korean Corn Dogs did not disappoint. I loved the sweet, crunchy coating on the outside and of course the cheese on the inside. The corn dog didn't have a full-size dog from end to end but that didn't matter as you get a chance to work your way to it at the end after you get through the cheesy part. Corn dogs came drizzled with ketchup and mustard but you may want to ask ahead of time not to put that if you're not a traditional kind of corn dog eater or if you want yours plain. We got the 3 pack for $12. We also grabbed a side order of cheese corn and seafood pancake. I found the pancake not having many pieces of seafood in it and mostly scallions so not my favorite. I may want to try their soups and also rice dishes on the next visit but our primary visit was to try their Corn dogs and it was a hit! Located in Central Beaverton with street parking or a paid parking lot across the street. Upon entering, there's plenty of seating right when you enter along with different K-Drama/K-Movie posters plastered all over the walls while K-Pop is playing. Very much a spot you'd want to go out with your friends to. As I entered, the staff came from the back to the front to greet me which was nice instead of having to walk all the way to the back to get seated. I ordered the Half and Half Korean Fried Chicken which came with Soy Garlic and Sweet & Spicy. The chicken was very crispy, had a nice crunch, while still maintaining its juiciness. The crunchy coating almost acted as a heat retention shielding as the chicken was hot throughout almost the entire time I was eating. The Soy Garlic wasn't overly powerful with either of its flavors which was nice for a change and made it enjoyable to eat. The Sweet & Spicy was absolutely delicious and I wish I ordered more. A long overdue review for a place I absolutely LOVE! My partner and I come here so often that our usual waitress told us "see you next weekend!" on our way out last time. I love this place so much but I can really only speak to the rose tteokbokki and fried chicken, which is what we get every time. The tteokbokki is so good and better than some other places I've been to. The fried chicken is just incredible (the soy garlic is our fav). We also always add ramen to the tteokbokki! The prices are incredibly fair so this place is an awesome experience without breaking the bank. We usually only come here if we are exceptionally hungry (which is most of the time) because the portion of tteokbokki is pretty generous. The service is exceptional and the people that work here are attentive and kind. You sometimes have to wait a bit on the weekends but we usually just go nearby to Breakside while we wait for our table. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough! read more

The walls were filled with K-drama posters, the tables were small, and there was not a lot of walking space. The menu is very diverse and has many comfort food items, which adds to the street market vibe. Parking in the area is all street parking We got several items, and each was really good and well-balanced. The kimchi was tasty. The seafood pancake was crispy, and the bosam was very filling and shareable (recommend, though pricier!). We went on a Saturday night at around 8:45pm, and it was PACKED! We waited outside for about 20 minutes, and the food was certainly worth it. We had the fish cake soup, which was perfect on a cold night such as this. We also had half/half chicken wings (soy + garlic and sweet + spicy). They were really crispy and flavorful, and went perfectly with some beer. Inside the restaurant, it is quite loud, but not too loud. We had a really fun time! Six stars. Seven, even. This little gem of a restaurant serving Korean bar food occupies the space where Du Kuh Bee once was. If you're familiar with the space, you'll recall that it's intimate. Essentially it's a hallway with two and four tops leading to the "main" dining room, which is another couple of four tops. Kitchen's beyond that. If they're busy they will take your number and give you an estimate of when you can expect to be seated. They can get VERY busy so set your expectations accordingly. They open at 4:00 pm and we often like to get there right when they start accepting guests. Service is friendly and outstanding. What we've eaten (that I can recall): Rose Tteokbokki: add ramen and cheese. This dish has kinda sorta changed my life. I think it's in the top 5 things I've ever eaten. Rice cakes, fish cakes, bacon, sausage, a few green onions and the aforementioned ramen and cheese in a sweet, savory and spicy gochujang sauce. Always PIPING hot and ever so satisfying. I've never finished the entire thing in one sitting which is perfectly fine, because it's delightful heated up the next day or so. Ten stars for this. Pocha Wings, both soy garlic and spicy sweet: Very good. Sauce is on the milder side, but I think it compliments the crispy, tasty chicken a little better that way. Supremely executed. Hotdog (Korean corn dog): Again, outstanding. Beef sausage with mozzarella cheese and a mildly sweet panko crust, along with a drizzle of ketchup and honey mustard. Hot, crunchy and a fun appetizer. I used to routinely get these but I've abandoned them in favor of enjoying the tteokbokki even more. Bossam: seasoned pork slices with cabbage, kimchi and other sides. Wife loves this. Wrap up the pork with sides of your choice in some cabbage and have at it. Delicious. Mandu: fried dumplings. These are basic, but quite good. Another terrific appetizer. There's probably an item or two that we've tried that I'm not recalling, but it's because the items listed have made such an impression on us. Looking forward to trying other items such as the Korean fried rice and corn cheese. That's if I can ever get past the rose tteokbokki! read more

It is a cozy and welcoming space and upon entering, you are greeted warmly by the staff and a wall of Korean movie posters. A very polite staff brought US menus and explained some of the highlights. We found the food to be different than your usual Korean restaurants around the area, messing its not all BBQ or cooked with enough kimchi and gochujang to make everything red and taste the same. It's a very nicely flavored and varied set of menu, and more representative of the broader Korean cuisine. If the items we had, surpringly we found the rice ball to be the biggest hit as it compliments and enhances both the soup and the chicken dishes. Located in Central Beaverton. The road in front of the store is blocked off and so you will need to find parking around the block. There is a small parking lot across the street and down the road a bit that is pay-to-park. This place is only open towards the end of the week and does not open until 4pm most days. They get very very busy and seating is very limited inside so expect to wait at least 30 minutes to an hour to either sit and/or to get takeout. We like to call in our order ahead of time. The chicken noodle dish is one of my favorites. Also, the best chicken wings you will find in town. I like to get the large order and have it split with both of the two flavors. 1st street pocha has been on my list for a long time but we never came because the menu seemed limited. So we came for my birthday since I really wanted Korean fried chicken. So, the menu was limited and it was not cheap. Given the size of the place, the food took a long time to come, which we were warned when we were seated. The corn cheese was excellent. The corn was sweet and the cheese was stringy and delicious. The rest of what we ordered were ok not outstanding. The duk bokki was very average. A MUST stop when in Beaverton! I was visiting a friend and figured I would stop by. It did not disappoint. Best corn dog I've ever had. I recommend going when they open because the place filled up very quick and it's not a large space. The staff were so friendly and helped us decide on what we should order. The wings were on point. They kinda drizzled the sauce over instead of tossed them in and since I'm a sauce kween, I asked for extra sauce on the side which was perfect. I'd love to go back and eat dinner. What a fun spot! It's small but very cozy and got great energy from the staffs as well as the music and ambience. Lots of Korean drinking food on the menu so be sure to get some sojus with your meal. We got the Haemul Pajeon which to me was one of the best I've tried in town! Love how evenly crispy the outside was, yet the inside was still soft and packed full of seafood. The Half & Half Truffle Soy and Sweet Spicy Wings were also great. They came out a bit later but that's because they make them fresh. They were so crispy on the outside. Tender on the inside. Both flavors were really good. We also got the Gizzards which I was particularly excited about but unfortunately they were sorta dry and tough. I think they wanted them to be crispy but overcooked them...alas. I liked the accompaniment of jalapenos and garlics in the dish tho. I love love LOVE coming here for some pocha. Portland doesn't really have a true pocha spot (ie. small and good Korean drinking snacks, a good assortment of drinks, and open late) except for this spot. The inside of 1st Street Pocha is pretty small, but that makes it very intimate. There's lots of decor and the dim lighting at all times, makes it the perfect atmosphere to chat and drink with friends. Service is always super quick and the woman running it is so fun and kind. They have a smaller but pretty diverse menu with items you typically don't see at other Korean spots in Portland, such as fish cake soup, truffle chicken wings, rose tteokbokki, and chicken gizzard. I haven't tried everything on their menu but from what I have tried, I can say that it has all been phenomenal. The fish cake soup is a hearty broth with yummy fish cake that makes for a perfect drinking snack to make you feel warm (or to even help with the headaches the day after). The wings are crispy and the radish compliments it so well. And, their tteokbokki and corn dogs--well, you can't go wrong with them. Merlin's Beard ! This place is truly remarkable, and I'm glad we ended up here after deliberating between a couple of other options. The restaurant is quite small, with only a few seats. I noticed the server had to turn away at least six or seven parties after ours because they just didn't have enough seats. The place looks like a local Korean spot with movie posters adorning the wall . We started with a round of Korean soju that our server suggested and followed it up with Korean style hot dog. It was cheesy and delicious, and I am so glad that we were able to get the last one. We followed this up with green onion pancake and rose Tteokbokki . The food does takes time to arrive because this place truly was a two people show - They only have one chef, and just one server. Between the two of them they were doing it all - taking orders, seating , serving ,cooking , takeout orders etc . The food is phenomenal , we were appreciating every single bite we put in our mouth. The Tteokbokki had great flavours , the sauce was creamy and spicy and packed a punch. The Haemul pajeon was excellent - thick , crispy edges and soft texture in the middle with a lot of seafood . Despite the food being excellent there was no way we could finish all of it so we brought it home and they heated up very nicely next day .
