The tofu was so delicious and really soft. Beef and mushroom were a good texture too. Don't even get me started with the portion size. It was easy to get a table on a Wednesday night and loved all the pictures on the menu - made it so easy to select what looked good. We selected the steamed pot stickers and green onion pancake for our appetizers and honestly combined with the bulgogi, the banchan, and the rice it was more than enough for 3 of us and even had some leftovers! I was captivated by their selection of banchan and it didn't disappoint, the potato salad was amazing! The seafood pancake was light and eggy, loaded with seafood. I asked if the military soup was spicy and was told no... but it was a bit spicy hahaha It did pair very very well with the rice cake soup, light and loaded with beef. Definitely will be coming back! 1)The way they just threw out plates etc at the table. Very uncouth. Tables were not the right size for cooking and eating. 2) the bbq arrangement on table top was on a propane camping cooker and was a cast iron pan, no idea what was inside under the lid. And a cover on top of pan to cook on. Wow never in all my travels in asia have i seen such a setup. 3) way way too expensive. 3 adults and 2 young kids bill was over $200. 4) food on a scale of 1 to 10 , 1 being worst my daughter was graceful with a 4. SO DISAPPOINTED in this place. I was born and raised in Seoul, so I know my Korean food. This isn't it. This is some kind of American-Korean fusion, which might be ok to the people who doesn't really know authentic Korean food, but if you're looking for that flavorful, authentic Korean dish, stay away from here. We ordered spicy cold noodles, galbi, and squid stone pot bibimbap. They were ALL BAD- spicy cold noodles were so soggy/mushy and had starch taste, which means they didn't wash the noodles well, which is a critical step of making cold noodles. The sauce was mediocre too, not much flavor. Galbi was the most disappointing, because they didn't even cook it on the grill(which is a must). It looked like it was cooked in the oven or on a pan, unevenly. It wasn't marinated very well either. It tasted soooo gamy and blend, I couldn't finish it. And the squid dolsot bibimbap.... Wow, how do you mess that up too? The squid was so chewy and tough and the bibimbap sauce was so bad, store bought bibimbap sauce would've been much better. Only thing that was OK was the banchans. I've heard this place went down hill, and it was true. We will NEVER come back here and will tell our friends the same. read more

One of the best Korean restaurants in Beaverton! I came here one evening about 30 minutes before it was supposed to close. Normally I feel super bad about coming so close to closing time and typically try to make my meal quick, but the staff was super friendly. They have plenty of seating inside and you can choose whether to eat al carte or grill meat. Service is quick. We ordered two soups and a platter of bulgogi. I was thinking that it was a bit pricy at first, but compared to the portion size that you get, it is well worth it. The portions are huge. Nakwon has been on my to try list for the longest so I finally decided to give it a go. There was already a line out the door even tho I came 10 mins after opening and they open at 5PM so we had to wait for the second wave and it was about 45 mins of waiting. It's just first comes first serve and you can leave your name and number on the wait list. With limited opening hours and small space inside so the long line makes sense. Try to decide what you're gonna order while waiting so it'll be faster once you're seated. Food comes out fast and the portion is so much bigger than I thought! Great banchan variety, we got bulgogi, tteokbokki, and soondubu. Everything was good bulgogi was a bit dry for my liking. Overall great food with decent prices but would I come back? Every time I try to come here, there's a long wait. Luckily, I came on a Thursday night at 7pm and there was no wait time! We got japchae, seafood pancake, and tofu stew. We got the Galbi, the Beef and Mushroom Soft Tofu Soup, Soybean Paste Soup, The Remedy (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup), and Stone Pot Rice. We had five people, and this was more than enough for all of us. I really enjoyed the Galbi and the Soft Tofu Soup. The Galbi was marinated super well, and the soup had a generous portion of beef. The soybean paste soup was also very flavorful, and both of the soups were literally served in huge stone pot bowls. Service was quick and friendly throughout our meal. Their main draw is that they give huge portions for their food, so come hungry or at least get ready to take half of your meal home. It's definitely a comfort food and makes you feel warm and cozy. They give you some red pepper paste and sauce if you want to add some spice to it. Some other workers came out to deliver orders too. Even though they were obviously having a busy night, they kept a uplifting and welcoming vibe. Be ready to wait though. We didn't mind it at all considering how many workers were working to keep a very busy night going. Food: SPICE LEVEL: 4/5. For those who love spicy, I rate it 2/5. Their banchan is so delicious and flavorful. We got the beef bibimpap and able to spice it up to our liking. Spicy pork belly was the perfect complimentary to the beef bibimpap. It was sweet and spicy and yummy. Their soondobu- SPOT ON. This was definitely the star of the night. The base wasn't watery and gave out so much flavor. Ok so I reaaally wanted to give Nak Won a higher rating, but alas the food just didn't hit the right note for me. My friend and I dropped by Nak Won on a weeknight and were able to snag the last empty table before a crowd petered in woohoo! We were able to put our order in quite quickly but it did take a looong time for food to come. We went with the tofu stew for my friend, dolsot bibimbap for me, kimchi jeon, and ddeokbokki. I am a huge fan of spicy rice cakes ddeokbokki, but gosh they made it way too sweet here. The glass noodles, the sweetness, and the overall flavor of the rice cakes was a total letdown for me. The kimchi jeon, which I was also equally as excited for, was also a bit too fishy tasting for me. My friend loved her tofu stew and my bibimbap was good as well. The banchan was plentiful and we both enjoyed the variety and options. My wife, who is Korean, and I, love Asian food and eat at Asian restaurants regularly. Without a doubt, if asked to name the best Korean restaurant in Beaverton (or greater Portland), we would both say, "Nak Won!" And we eat at a number of other Korean spots in town. Portland is blessed to have a number of Korean restaurants to choose from. While having choices is nice, still we have been going to Nak Won for years. Somehow, Nak Won has been able to be very consistent with the cuisine that they serve. I am not an expert on Korean food, so I leave that expertise to my wife. I believe Nak Won has a secret weapon that is the key to their culinary success - it's a close-knit family operation. The warmth and respect they feel for each other is passed on to their customers in every dish they serve. I order one dish so regularly that the owner's son, who runs the front of the restaurant, just looks at me and immediately says, "I know. Spicy Pork Bulgogi." LOL! I would be more willing to expand my meal selection at Nak Won if they didn't make such damn good spicy pork bulgogi! I'm totally hooked on it! I can't help myself. Quite seriously, their pork bulgogi is the standard that I use to measure the quality of any other Korean restaurant I try. The pork is tender, grilled to perfection, presented on a bed of translucent, slightly caramelized onions, dressed with the most flavorful Gochujang sauce you can imagine. Oh, and there is usually some duk (rice cake) thrown in, too. (There is a photo attached). I do also order bibimbap, which is a dish everyone loves (and a great dish to have newbies try). There is always just enough rice to fill you up, with fresh vegetables, a beautiful fried egg on top and of course, the sauce, which is done just right. Yum! I was extremely happy to see that Nak Won has a spicy pork bibimbap! For me, this is an absolute two-for-one treat! My wife and one of our friends ordered the bibimbap, while our other friend decided he would live life on the edge and got a spicy Korean stew. Good for him! He was sweating by the time he finished, but very happy. My wife was hoping for her very favorite summer Korean meal of Naengmyeon (cold noodle), but sadly, it wasn't offered on the menu. She has always said that Nak Won's cold noodle is the best. But she was very happy, as usual, with the dish she ordered. I should mention that a necessary part of the Korean food experience is banchan (the name given to a selection of side dishes)! A Korean restaurant wouldn't feel right if you didn't get a number of delicious sides, usually served before your meal. My wife and I agree that Nak Won's banchan is the best of the Korean restaurants we frequent. It's best not only in terms of the selection of items, but also the quality. Recently Nak Won opted to discontinue their lunch service and instead focus only on dinner. We were bummed to hear that this is going to be a permanent situation, as lunch at Nak Won was always something we looked forward to. But, if you can only eat one Korean meal in a day, let me assure you that dinner at Nak Won is a winner (no rhyme intended)! I thought the change in hours had something to do with the pandemic and that perhaps they suffered from a lack of service help that has plagued a lot of other restaurants, but I was told that this isn't the reason. Mom, son and daughter, who are always busy, can still handle any crowd. Instead, It's just that the chef, their incredibly talented Korean Mom you never get to see because she's always in the kitchen, simply needs a break. And as someone who turned 70 this year, that is totally understandable. She is a real gem! I told me wife after our last dinner there a few days ago (we brought friends who were new to Korean food), that I thought we should find out if Mom could come live with us. She agreed. So, the bottom line folks is that you should strongly consider eating dinner at Nak Won, if you get the chance.
