She worked with me until we got the spa package just right for our group. The outside is very deceiving. The place looks so tiny. But then you come inside and there are 3 floors with a hip interior. They truly want you to have a relaxing experience. We had blueberry foot soaks, mini-facials, back massages, and hand treatments. Our package included wine and cheese. Granted, we couldnt all be together in one room because each service needed a different location, but there was a lounge area where we could all gather. It was a lot more casual than where I normally go (tangerine salon), and at first my initial thought was "I probably won't come back to this place". But after my experience, this is going to be my new salon! She loves her working environment and it shows. And she cares about her work...she did a great job with my daughter's cut. I have put off leaving a review but others really need to be warned about this place. I came here once several months ago and am literally still paying the price for the shit job they did frying the hell out of my long untouched hair that took forever to grow out. I specifically said I DID NOT want the top of my hair highlighted I specified minimal highlights on the second half (went in for color not full highlights like was done and charged for) as I already have nice blonde hair and she insisted she was going back over it with color after( all of which I had to pay a hefty price for of course). Pardon my language but this blonde chick (not worth remembering a name idk and honestly don't really care) She fried the ever living shit out of my previously un-died long blonde hair and charged as much as she possibly could for the hack job. My hair gets literally ratted and comes out in clumps when wet in the shower and it tangles immediately. It just plain SUCKS that this happened. It's been a pain in my ass for months dealing with. Avoid this place at all costs, really. They don't know what the fuck they're doing here. TRUST ME. Decided to give it a try since is close to home, I requested a higher level stylist, they recommended Shauni the first time it was ok she took her time. So decided to go back she had two other clients processing spect about 35 mins both shampoo, haircut and blowdry my hair was damp both times by the way. When I got I noticed it was very uneven, called them to have it fixed they offered week later with the same person. Fine I took it, 10 minutes before my appointment to have it fixed they called to reschedule I was outside their salon. I said I will have it fixed somewhere else, "ok" was the response. I was very excited for my appointment on December 9th. I got a cut and color appointment- but was very disappointed upon going home to find the stylist had not cut my hair the way I wanted and hid the awful cut with the curls she had done on my hair, which is why a few days later when I tried to straighten it, I noticed the "bob" she had done was very poor. Also, I paid $200 in total for this appointment, and was VERY displeased at how the color literally washed out after one wash at home, which was done with cold water several days later. If you hate your hair, don't know what to do or where to start, drop everything and run here! From the minute I walked in to when I walked out of the door, everyone was so nice. The first appointment was awful, the air conditioning was out and it must have been 100 degrees in the salon. There was one fan and the stylists were fighting over it, not for the clients but for themselves. The owner was there and instead of getting more fans or rescheduling the appointments he walks around cracking jokes about it. 3 hours later I dripped out. I scheduled another appointment in hopes that this time would be better as the hairstyle was good. The second experience was better. Not knock out of the park but better. Third time was it for me. I was having lowlights and highlights done. I sat down and the stylist walked over to put my color together. She walked back over and said I am going to use my hands to pull the color through instead of the foils. This took hours 3 hours again. When I went to the register the girl rang it up and said $255.00. I was shocked and ask why. She walked over asked the stylist came back and said because of the hair color. Now I already think they are over priced to begin with but $100 more because she used her fingers, um no. The owner came over and said what she did was an art form called borgnais (not sure of spelling ) so I know for the future. He took the charge off but no apology or any acknowledgement of the fact that they just embarrassed me or by the time I got to my car and thought about what just happened was totally ticked off. So I've been living in Downtown McKinney for over a year and STILL driving back to East Texas to get my hair done. Needless to say that treking all that way for a cut and color was hard to work into my FT school schedule yet I still I kept putting off finding a salon because of said schedule and my hair has suffered greatly for it. Now let me start by saying I am uber picky about who cuts and colors my hair. As one with natural curls it is hard to get a stylist to listen to me when it comes to the cut and styling. So once I find someone who does listen I'm hard pressed to leave (hence the driving for a year). But I had a break from school and decided to do my research on finding a new salon close to my pad in Downtown McKinney. Before I go into the WONDERFULNESS that was my experience let me say I chose this salon for one reason and one reason only. After all the reviews I looked at, Negative Nelly down there with her bitching and moaning caught my eye. I looked at her profile trying to get a closer look at her hair and realized that her whole Yelp page was nothing but complaining about all the places she has been to (here's a tip: if you have a problem EVERYWHERE you go and you are the ONLY common denominator it's probably not the business, it's probably YOU) but her asinine review didn't sway me because...... BECAUSE....... I found it absolutley amazeface that the owner called her out on it AND stuck up for her employees. Any owner that does that instead of honoring the sometimes NOT TRUE 'customer is always right' BS is a business I want to be a patron of! So on to my new hair and my groove-o-licious experience: I called for the appointment and the owner is the one who took my call. It was after 5 on a Friday so I was really impressed by that. After I gave her my schpeil and explained the curently horrid status of my hair she booked me first thing Saturday morning with Phyllisia. When I arrived on Saturday (hair up in a ponytail to feel better about walking my tired old mop in there) Phyllisia already knew my poor hair's tale of woe. I asked her not to judge me too harshly at the Medusa-like mess on my head and true to her word we entered the no judgey zone. After a brief consulation on what I liked and disliked we were off. Start to finish took about two hours, we had great conversation (and discovered a shared love of Authentic Mexican food) and she made me look and FEEL like a million bones! She used a lot of stellar products that made my coarse hair feel soft and shiny and although she explained every one of them she wasn't 'hairdresser pushy' about me HAVING to buy them or I would look like a turd. (I hate when my stylist is a pushy sales broad!) This was an absolutely stellar experiene for me! I am so in love with my hair and this salon! If you live in Downtown McKinney and get your hair done anywhere else, well, you're crazy! Great stylist, awesome owner who sticks up for her crew, and walking out feeling like a hair model.....you can't get any better than that! Kuddos Guys! You just scored a new regular customer! DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON- MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR REPUTATION. THE PICTURE NEXT TO THIS IS WHAT THEY DID TO MY HAIR AND THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY MONEY!!!!! I was in this salon and was going for a color change. I asked their receptionist to be put with their most senior colorist who would be farmiliar with using a color remover to color correct my hair. Not only was I not put with the most senior colorist, they did not remove the color first-they colored over it and I was there for over 4 going on 5 hours. The result was a mess. I scheduled to come back in to have it fixed the next day. My stylist called in sick, so I was put with a new colorist to fix the color who did not know the color line which made me very nervous. After another 4+ hours I thought it was ok when I left. However, when I washed it the first time, it was red at the roots and grey on the ends and I was beside myself. I had originally thought about giving them a third chance to fix it, but after consulting with some friends in the business back home in Chicago where I am from, they told me to go to a salon that would use the color remover as originally prescribed. And besides- after sitting there 2 days in a row for almost 10 hours, would you want to go back? I tried to call the Lori the owner for 3 days but never got a return phone call from her. When I finally did talk with her, she accepted no responsibility and offered no help and refused to refund my money. I have never written a negative review about someone, but when I called to just to ask for a refund, I was told that it was my fault and they would absolutely do nothing more to help. I have searched and searched for a hair salon since moving to McKinney and to be honest I have not been impressed. I was in bad need of some serious color and a haircut and decided to give this salon a try. I was able to be worked in today and I had a great experience. My color is amazing and is much better than I expected. I opted for a Kerastase conditioning treatment and I must say this is something everyone should get! My cut was great and I left a very happy person. The salon is a bit pricey but you do get what you pay for. Most importantly Sara let me know that if I had any problems to be sure to let them know and they would help in any way. Friendly staff, great cut! And all for a reasonable price. Kristin was perfect; she listened, she reviewed the photos I brought in, she made me laugh, and she gave me a great cut. All of that was enough for a 5star review, but you add in the price point and I'm ecstatic! I'm a woman who rocks short hair, and it always drives me crazy when I pay twice as much for a hair cut as men do. But 209 Salon charged me a men's cut price, which is great, because let's be honest, the price of your haircut should be determined by your hair, not your genitals. read more

I love this Salon! They've rescued me twice now! In March, I had a medical test done that destroyed my butt-length hair. 209 got me in quickly and helped me during a very difficult time. They were kind, compassionate, and I walked about if there smiling instead of crying. Fast forward to yesterday, and I was getting ready for a wedding. I decided to try a salon my friend told me about. All I needed was a simple up-do. The poor girl I went to was not very experienced and after 2 hours of fumbling with my hair, I had to stop her and leave. I felt bad for her but I was running out of time and I had no confidence in her. I still needed to do my make-up also! I headed straight over to 209! I ran into that salon like a wild animal and they instantly saw the panic on my face. I told them what had happened and what I needed. The owner switch around some schedules and assured me that everything was going to be ok. They brought me a glass of wine and the stylist had my updo done in under 30 min! I can't remember her name and I need to find her card. She is from Las Vegas and has extensive experience with updos. If you need an amazing updo, ask for the girl from LasVegas! She is amazing! The style stayed put the entire evening, as we danced and partied. I slept on it and woke up to perfect hair still! She placed the pins perfectly and they aren't stabbing me or showing. I'm definitely going back to her when it's time to cut my hair again! When I find her card, I'll update my review. read more
