Went to get my hair dyed. Spent 4 1/2 hours in the chair . Wanted a blonde streak in the front and on the side. The blonde turned pink because the red bled . After trying to correct in three different ways I saw the writing on the wall it wasn't going to happen . Just asked for those streaks to be the same red as the rest of my hair. Those turned more bronze which is not what I wanted at all. I hate orange and I really just know having experience with having dyed red hair what's going to happen to those pieces. $320 later including tip and I left with not getting what I wanted and not really liking parts of my hair. . Took my daughter to Vernis for her 21st birthday to treat her to the hair coloring that she wanted. I've included a picture of what she wanted and showed Vernis and a pic of what she actually got before we asked for it to be fixed. We were there for over 6 hours which caused my daughter to have to cancel her other plans for that day. I even tipped her because I felt badly that she stayed an extra hour to try to fix it, but in hindsight, we should have left when we started seeing that things were going wrong. read more

I went to Crystal for a haircut. She was so sweet and did a great job! She had fantastic communication while initially scheduling the appointment and was understanding when I showed up a few minutes late. Courtney is amazing! I had a hair disaster and came into Southern Sister's for help. The staff is amazing and so welcoming. They did my hair in half the time any other salon has ever taken and didn't charge me an arm and a leg! I'm the happiest I have ever been and I get so many compliments! There is a long explained review on Google and Yelp about this place. One of their hairdressers scammed me. She didn't Bring enough product the day of my appointment and stated she would do it the following weekend. She canceled (even though I had already paid for the service) and has blocked me. I've reached out to the salon numerous times and have been blocked on every social media platform I have attempted to reach them on as well as they will "take my name and number down to give it to the salon owner" and either hasn't done that, or the owner could careless on what her hairstylists do. I had another several professionals look at my hair and quote me $400 to fix what Southern Sisters Salon did to it. Even given all proof of time line and the cancelation, this salon still believes it's okay to charge their clients for services that aren't completed and won't give refunds when the STYLIST CANCELS. Not just canceled, but blocked me as well after I brought up wanting a partial refund since my service was never complete. This place is a joke and doesn't deserve to be "best of mckinney". Spend your money else where! read more

I had my hair done by Chelsea. She took a lot of time to make sure she understood exactly what I wanted. She was extremely friendly and provided an excellent service. She gave some great and easy to follow tips and product recommendations on how to style my new look at home. She made sure I was 100% satisfied with my service before I paid. Took my daughter's to get their hair cut by Kyleigh for the 1st time and she was absolutely Wonderful! She was so nice to them & made them feel so relaxed, they really enjoyed it! Trash salon. A few very nice ladies, but completely unprofessional. Specifically Laura Keilman. I'm surprised she even is allowed to practice in a professional setting such as a salon. No follow thru when contacted for an appointment, she did my lashes and while they looked great, they were clumpy and she used literally TAPE on my eyes. It hurt so bad when she took it off. Lashes coming off in CLUMPS (this has never happened to be before and I've been getting my lashes done for 6 years) But I understood she was new- even though she claimed to have done lashes for years, she said she needed to brush up her skills. Offered her a $20 tip, she refused. She even asked me to tell my friends she would use as models for free lashes (to which she told them all they would have to pay which is completely fine) but I was giving her a chance. She told me to make an appointment for a fill-TO WHICH IVE BEEN IGNORED. I even wanted her to quote my mom a price on balayage because she does hair as well and I'm all about supporting women in business but she is unprofessional and inauthentic. Will not be going back... so you see the giant clump of my natural lashes that fell out? read more

The owner Courtney Warnell is the definition of a perfect business owner. She has a beautiful heart, loves her customers, and genuinely cares about others. A month ago I called her based on a referral from a very good friend of mine. She answered the phone and she told me to come in right away. This appointment was for my granddaughter and for myself. It was my granddaughter's birthday weekend too. It was her day off and she took care of us!! I was so impressed with her kindness to us and those around her. It feels like home. If I could give Courtney 100 stars I would. I flew in from Los Angeles to visit my family and my mom recommended Southern Sisters. Courtney took care of me and it was a fraction of the cost of what LA salons charge but it looked even better than what those expensive salons would have done!! Courtney makes you feel like family even if you've only met her 5 mins ago. The customers and other stylists in the salon are super friendly as well. I fell into this cute corner of McKinney accidentally and not only found the boutique fun and inexpensive, unlike downtown, but heard about a lady who loves to do "sassy" short hair cuts. I met with her later and she did a cute flattering cut which entailed some work on my part (not accustomed to that). Finally tried to fix it myself and it worked! Sadly the front wasn't quite what I yearned for so went back for a quick lesson and trim of the front part. I said I was looking for someone who didn't put me down and so on and I found that in Carla! But I had to leave before I had the chance to complete my comment. At least she did hear my thanks for her tact. Oh well, misunderstandings happen. She indeed has tact, imagination and lots of skills and can make your hair sassy if you want. First let me say the Salon very friendly people seen other hairdress do ceints hair look great. So this reveiew not toward the salon but one of there hairdresser Rachel Riojas. She was hired by my daughter to do her hair and make-up plus any other bridemaids any mothers that wanted it to be done.I did go to salon and paid for a trial hairstyle and make -up., she did good job little to flat on top and make-up little to light for pictures only trial. Even that she was hour late for my appointment, had to call her. Did findly get there, she said run after her sister dog. That day I told her day of wedding to use little darker make-up and highter on top. No problem. Day of wedding she did my daughters hair good and make-up. She was running late, seem stress. That's why she did my daughter makeup first, she had get dress. Came to me my hair was not done right, even before I came put rolls on my top, took them down before I arrival, because know my hair to get volume. So all she had to do is take straight iron straight side little put long curls in back, push hair back. My daughter even told her that you can't make curl with straight iron hair stick out, she has one. Wasn't toward mirrow couldn't see what she doing. Turn around hair top was curly side stick out so bad, nothing I could do as she put so much hair spray made my hair grease. My hair was not dirty. Came to make -up ok. She put false eye lashes on med. size, daughter gave her 3 differents sizes was smaller ones. To big for my eyes or wasn't put on right. I told her that hard see didn"t feel right. Give it time she said. She was to busy taken pictures of my daughter getting dress and her hair and putting my hairspray on bridemaids then doing my hair and make-up right. My daughter told her that pictures would sent to her and that she need to get me ready so I could get dress. More important for she to take picture of bridemaids and Bride. When I got to venue most of bridesmaid were already had their hair done. That was 11:30am, I was schedule for 2:00 Daughter at 3:00pm wedding was to start at 5:30, but pictures were at 5:00pm. I had Dawn go first it was 4:30 still make-up and get dress. Rachel knew she running late because to busy talking and taken pictures. It was 5:20 before she start my make-up and still had get dress. They all went down for pictures really late. Came up she still was doing my make-up start take more pictures until my daughter said mom has to get ready. It's 5:35. She has to go down before me and my dad. I was just so stress out. Top of it Rachel told everyone she be there after service if anything need fix. Service 35 mins My eyelashes came off at corner and doing service Dawn cry a little black running down her cheeks, groom wipe it off. She didn't even use waterproof make-up. Mind was mess. My daughter law when up to get Rachael she was gone. lady venue said she left right after we left room. Friend of my sons took the lashes off so use glasses to see and Rachael knew I wore glasses. Bobby pins started come out back daughter hair, bridemaid fix it, she has thick hair. She has done her hair at least twice that I know of, to busy taking pictures then doing her job that she was paid for that day. She maybe good doing one people at salon, not wedding party group. I will never go to her or referral her to anyone. Two mothers at the wedding that their daughters and granddaughter getting, they know me, watch how my daughter and look. Seem me fanny style for wedding one said what happen to her and other say your daughter has little black or something on her cheeks being. Ask me what her was, told them so pass on, I don't another mother of Bride to go throught I did. We would of been on time as groom party and everyone all dress by 4:40, even flower girl . It was just My daughter and I was ready. Picture were more important to her. To bad for Southern Sisters, McKinney seen be very nice place seen the other hairdresser while waiting for Rachel, that they we doing their cients. Really notice one next to Rachel, wish got her name she did great job on her cient hair. One bad apple can broke at business. I never redo way my hair and lashes look in pictures. read more

Melissa Cross is a Godsend and totally saved my life! One week before a really important wedding and family vacation, I got a balayage from a different salon that totally botched the job. I was heartbroken! On a Sunday morning, I called Southern Sisters to see if they could fix it. Melissa answered the phone and said she was the only one there and just happened to be working that day and could see me immediately. She fixed my hair so incredibly fast and saved my vacation! She was sympathetic about my situation, was honest, friendly and personable and down to earth. I felt so comfortable talking to her. I will never go anywhere, again. She has earned a very loyal customer in me. I can't say enough good things about her. I trust her completely. Thank you, Melissa! I will also say how much I love the Southern Sisters Salon itself. It is decorated with so much personality. You feel like you're at a friends house. Other salons I have gone to recently are so void of any style or warmth.
