One of my favorite hole in the wall (literally) pizza joint! Pizza is very good, perfectly cooked crust through out the pizza, right amount of sauce and cheese. Perfect amount of topping, well spread out. They have a handful of different pizzas and I think they rotate a fun one every so often. They also have vegetarian and vegan options. There usually only two people working because the place is so so small. There is no seating because it's literally a hole in the wall type place. You come up order a pizza and leave. The people who work here a very kind and they definitely work very hard! They are very fast and with immediate in person orders and togo orders over the phone. Usually 15-20 mins if they aren't busy. I've never seen a super long line and if there is a line they are pretty quick to get it down. I want to be clear: These aren't fancy pizza, just a good ol' standard pizza. If you want better than a chain but you don't want to pay for an over priced pizza, this is the place for you. Prices are very reasonable since the last time I've i gotten a slice there :) The only problem that might turn someone off is the location for pretty obvious reason if you know the area. We ordered the pepperoni pizza, mushroom, olive and green pepper pizza and the Mediterranean salad (large). The pizzas were pretty good and I'm sure better if eaten right out of the oven. It wasn't too greasy and the pepperoni had a nice bit of spice to it. The veggies on the other pizza tasted fresh and both pizzas had plenty of toppings. Yes, this fine establishment has good pizza but that's not what this review is about. Today I'm here to talk to you about their meatball sub because it's worth talking about. Now I am by no means an avid meatball sub enjoyer, I would say I want a meatball sub roughly quarterly. On one such day (starving after a work conference wherein I was fed only salad like some kind of rabbit) I got off the 6 that stops conveniently close to this place and thought 'goddamn even a mediocre meatball sub would really hit the spot rn' so promptly acquired one from the very nice dude at the window. But this was better than a mediocre meatball sub. First of all, structurally I'm a big fan of how they cut and stuff their bread to make a kind of cradle, almost akin to a bread bowl which is really what a saucy sandwich like this has been missing all these years. Secondly, their red sauce has a lil more bell pepper to it than other sandwiches I've had which personally I liked a great deal. It was slightly spicy in the way good sausage is, where it causes no real pain or sweat but reminds you you're alive. Thirdly, the meatballs are big enough that I didn't feel stiffed by the price, but small enough as to not be unwieldy to bite into. It also came with a drink and chips, which I think is just a nice and classy touch. Makes me feel like I'm having an actual meal and not just hoovering a sub like a wild animal. Wish I could rate this place higher but sitting at a solid 3 for me based on their pizza week slice. I dropped by with a friend for their pizza week slice and tbh was a taaad bit let down. The slice sounded amazing -- margherita pizza-esque with tomato slices on top of cheesy goodness. However, it left a lot to be desired. It looked beautiful but gosh it was sooo incredibly under-seasoned, I was confused. I just wanted someone to sprinkle some salt on top of it to save it. The saving grace of this entire slice was the crust which had the perfect texture; crispy on the outside with a good chew on the inside. Service was swift, the slices are well priced, and parking in the area is street parking. Caveat here -- I have literally not tried any other pizza slices here and for all I know, they're more well seasoned and amazing. Like I said before the crust was amazing so that's a plus. Gotta love it when the quality of the food match the attitude of the people. Made a call in order and the person at the other end couldn't be friendlier. They do a lot of customization for a window pizza spot: think crust/thin crust and half and half options available. Order was made quickly (~25 mins) and we got one of the freshest pies we've had in a while. Went with the large (18 in) half and half the Tony and 21st Century Veggie. The crust was thin as we've liked. Dough wasn't super flavoful but had a great texture. Toppings were plentiful and high quality. The Tony had a sheet of melted cheese all over and every slice had meatballs on it. Especially a fan of the 21st Century Veggie with tons of olive, artichoke, and peppers. Usually I just get a slice as they're pretty huge, but of course you can also get a whole pizza if you prefer. Slices are quick and oftentimes I can call from my apartment, walk directly over, and they're waiting for me. That's fast, my friends! I'm partial to the Hawaiian pizza, though I am firmly #TeamPineapple. Their marinara has a little touch of spice to it, which I think is great on pretty no matter how you slice it. Get it... slice? HA! Here's what people don't tell you: The sandwiches are so good! I love their meatball sub, and it's interesting in that it's more like a carved-out little bread canoe with meatball passengers than a traditional sandwich. The SS Flavorful? Sure. That works for me. The cookies are legit, but sometimes they're sold out. They usually have a Yelp Check-In offer for free dough balls, or whatever they're called. One thing I'd add: it's almost always best to call ahead. This corner of downtown is feeling pretty sketchy lately, and I can say that because I live here. If you aren't acclimated you might find yourself a bit shook by the waiting conditions outside of the immediate vicinity of their window. I love this place! I've ordered from here a handful of times so far, I really enjoy their pizza by the slice and also their garlic bread!! I have other friends that also rave about this place.
