My car was towed today. My fiancé and I came in last night and we couldn't find anywhere on our apartment complex to park. The only available parking spot was the handicap parking. Unfortunately, we forgot to move the car this morning and the car was towed. So I called 21 at 19040 A SW shaw St., Beaverton OR . I explained to customer service when I called that the car was only parked there because we didn't have much of a choice we had to park somewhere. He gave a little attitude but I brushed that off. So I go to the towing facility which was 20 minutes after that phone call , The towing guy he was the one that had to take the payment. He have a very fucked up attitude. I did not say I couldn't pick up the car the right now or it was too much money. I did not complain about the payment. I did not put the payment on my credit card. I put it on my debit card because I have the money to pay for it even if it was $1500 to get it , it was $308 to get it out , When you're dealing with the public if you're not a respectful person then don't deal with the public, if you're gonna take your personal issue and push it on someone else then don't deal with the public, racial then don't deal with . your reason is to disrespectful when you're running a business then do not deal with the public. My car is fully paid for my car is fully insured until January. I did not go there to be for any financial assistant. I am a hard-working woman. I am not a black woman or a immigrant that comes to this country to depend on anyone's money. He took photos far enough away that you can't see my disabled placard laying on the dash. Clearly visible. So visible that they released my car to me without a charge. They should pay me though for the hassle! Also in Portland, OR tow companies are required to let the city know the tow details within 30 minutes of the tow. It's a legal requirement. My car was towed at 8:35pm. I called the tow company at 9:25. I was told by the dispatcher that no vehicles had been towed from our lot today. So I called the police non emergency line and had to wait for an officer to call me back. At 10:04pm after much stress I was informed by the officer that the tow had just been entered into the system. He also told me of the legal requirements. I used emergency resources because 21ST Century Towing operates a Predatory practice and does not follow the law. Cost me no money to get my car back because they realized they were in the wrong when the lot guy walked out to my vehicle, actually walked up to it instead of looking at from a few yards away and saw my disabled placard laying there. It did cost me lots of time and stress. These guys are the worst! Also if you get your vehicle towed and you're not backed into a parking place to make it easy for them you might want to check your alignment and tread. Seriously they're the worst!! Towed my truck illegally. Truck was parked in my apartment complex lot with a parking pass hanging from my visor. They came in, broke in my truck, took the pass and tucked in the visor. Told me it wasn't in the truck, but I happened to take a pic that morning of the hood of my truck and got the parking pass in the picture. Not only that, I pay for my parking to begin with, and they have all my vehicle information on file as well. I couldn't afford to pay the tow fee, and when I did finally have money, the fee was so high I again couldn't pay. I talked to the owner several times telling him it was an illegal tow. He just wanted money. They ended up selling my truck. We have a court date coming up. I'm getting what I paid for from them for my truck, but really want my truck back. Not only did we wait far past our appointment time (2hrs) missing work but the man checking us out was incredibly unprofessional. My daughter parked in a spot and went to get her sticker for the car she just bought. She was not even out of her car 10 min when it was towed. Mark was the rudest person ever to speak to. He wouldn't allow any question so when we arrived at the lot with the wrong info they refused to help. Instead he belittled my daughter and told her these are her consequences for her actions. They came sneaking quietly and towed my friend car while she was helping our friend to move in order to save her money. The garage door was open, and our friends back door was open, so he obviously saw that they were in the middle of loading. They towed the car to aloha, to crowded garage, with small spaces between the cars. The person was very aggresive when he was asked question. He wore a mask under his nose and there were no coutious signs or behavior in the business. The person didnt use any divider, and it was impossible to keep social distancing. This company is practicing predatory towing tactics. My friend an Uber eats driver was delivering a meal during COVID19. She put on her flashers to indicate she'd be right back. Delivered the meal to the individual and when she got down to her car the driver demanded $254 to not tow her car. Really? This is the most shady tow company ever! They basically stole my car. I was parked in a parking lot that is connected to 4 businesses. I was at one that is a little Tavern. I've been parking in this lot for years wit no issues except on this Saturday night. I come out and my car is gone. I get ahold of the police to report it stolen only to find out that it's been towed. I get ahold of the tow company who informs me the businesses are closed and I'm now illegally parked. The Tavern was not closed when they towed me. I know it's pointless to argue because I'm never going to get my car back until I pay the insane price of 351.00 . When I went to get my car, they had it so buried in the back with a bunch of junk cars and a long bed tow truck blocking it. Seriously! So like many of the other 1 star reviews I was towed. The only reason I don't wish less than 1 on them was the very nice gentleman who tried to wipe the fees on our towed truck. To start the towing company didn't notify the complex we live in that they towed our truck, so we had no idea what to think when we looked out and our truck was gone. So we called them and the resulting phone call was the first of the bad taste in my mouth. The guys was rough around the edges from the beginning but I kinda expected it because of the rep tow truck drivers have. But this dude, when I asked why I was towed he told me the parking pass wasn't visible. I told him, it definitely it was it was in the cup hold right beneath the rear view mirror. He proceeded to raise his voice at me to tell he doesn't train his drivers to look in cup holders, they just need to see a pass. I almost hung up as soon as he raised his voice but I needed to know where to get my truck out of jail from. So when we finally get to the place and 2 more phone calls with the previous guy we're stuck waiting for another 10-15 minutes, just to file paperwork. This was the guy that glanced in our truck and went oh yeah that pass is definitely visible let me make some calls. Well even after talking to his boss he says the best he can do is $150. The contract they hold with our complex (The Jax btw) says the pass must be visible but they keep telling us it had to be hanging. So because the pass wasn't hanging, even though it was visible, and we went in literally the day we noticed our gone vehicle they had the nerve to want to charge us $150. So he said if we wanna lower it further management has to call them to try to get it lower. So I meet with my leasing agent today and not even 5 words in they've interrupted her and told her they won't speak to her, only HER manager. So I've been running around for 2 days now trying to get my wrongfully towed truck back. Oh I also failed to mention back when we got our spot in the beginning of June, we kept our pass up for about a month, but then the truck never came around so my husband and I have had that pass in the cup holder SINCE JULY 2017 AND IT IS JANUARY 2018. They have come around (not often but they have) since getting our spot in June and not hanging the pass for 6 months, without towing us. I parked my car in a seemingly abandoned lot at 6th and College and came back 10 minutes later to find it missing. Holy shit, did I just get robbed?! Wait a minute... I didn't see any tow signs... In fact I had just refused to park in the lot of a restaurant across the street for fear of being towed. I circled the block twice before pulling into this remaining option. I didn't see any parking meters or signs coming in... Oh wait, now that I'm looking, there's a sign: the fucking Where's Waldo of advertising, pasted inconspicuously under some overgrowing ivy, on the unlit wall of the abandoned building on the opposite side of the lot my car once occupied. I dial the number posted for 21st Century Towing, and a woman answers. I say that my car must've just been towed and ask what do I have to do to get my car back? "You'll need to come in and pay the fees." Ok, great. Where are we talking about? Surely public transit can get me there, right? "We are located 6 miles away from you on Columbia Ave (the last exit before Van-fucking-couver) but we'll be happy to call you a cab." Great. And how much will it be to get my car out? Technically, yes, I did park my car in a private lot. Whoops. Hey, an honest mistake, but surely a hundred bucks can cover this, right? No. This shameless bitch says I owe her $281. ARE YOU FUCKING FUCKING WITH ME RIGHT NOW?! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO PAY THAT TONIGHT?! "Sir, do you want me to call the taxi or not?" ...yeah...I guess that's the least you could do... as along as you're not charging me for it. "ok." click All the while this conversation is taking place, I see a 21st Century Tow truck slowly cruising by the lot, scanning the area for more victims. I wave him on with one lone, hostile finger. Everything is just fine here, fucker. As if on cue, as though this scenario had been perfected through repetition, the Radio Cab shows up within 5 minutes. He asks me how I'm doing. "Well, you know where you're taking us, you tell me." He goes on to explain that the tow drivers work on commission, that they have a circuit of lots that they monitor with spotters, and that the owners of the parking lots split the profit from each tow with the tow driver. Allow me to put this into plain, everyday, WTF english: There are people in America whose quality of life depends on how many people a day they can fuck over by holding our cars for ransom. They are rewarded for the totals of their receipts, leading them to find ways to charge you the maximum amount for services rendered. This is why you've never received a courtesy call from a coveralled grease monkey. It pays better to hook your car up and drag it to the state line before you've paid for your rented movies. The cabbie said that he once drove a driver to the tow yard who had parked his car, crossed the street (to the very restaurant we refused to park in), grabbed his take out, and walked back to an empty lot in less than five minutes. Once we arrived at the yard, I tipped the cabbie. I'm paying Mexico's GNP to get my car out of a private impound, I might as well be generous to the one guy that DIDN'T screw me over. Can I make this a -1? It bothers me to have to put any form of star here. My daughter borrowed my car so she could attend her friend's birthday party. Her friend (who's lived there for about a year) said to park in the "Future Resident's Parking" spot. At about 11:30 pm on Saturday night, the car was towed. It wasn't parked illegally. It wasn't taking anyone else's space. The office was closed. Nobody called in to complain. This tow company was just out doing some predatory trolling. It cost my daughter $250 to get the car back. The big problem for me is they do not have proper signage in the parking lot. The law proscribes very specific verbiage and none of it was there. You have to go around the corner to find the name and phone number of the towing company. There isn't one visible mention of the company's name unless you actually park in a tenant's space. There is no indication that the parking spot is off limits. This is against the law. We'll be taking this to small claims court in the near future. The tow co also damaged my tailpipe and bumper, so I'll be seeking reimbursement for repairs. I'll update in the future. read more

While watching a movie at Laurelhurst Theatre, 21st Towing did a sweep of all cars parked in the empty lot of the long vacated Chopsticks Bar and another vacated property in front. A car driving through told us that the the tow trucks come through and tow all cars, then charge $371 to get your car back. What a crappy business. Why in the world I ever had to go bail out my car will always leave a bitter taste in my mouth. So when said nanny takes the car and pretends she's going to her dad's birthday party but ends up at boyfriend's house where the car gets towed, you get two things: 1) One pissed off employer 2) One fired nanny So that's what led me to go bail out my imprisoned vehicle at 5:45 pm on a Friday evening. What a awful company..Everyont I dealt with had an attitude and 0 customer service. They are ambulance chaser preying on people that park a car in the wrong spot. They towed a single women with 4 kids that was dropping off her disable father who needed assistance to get to his apartment. They towed it and stored it in a unmanned building less than a mile a way and charged $300.00. Then they hold you hostage to wait to pick it up. Absolutely awful 'service'. My car was stolen and was towed to their yard. The title had been misplaced, and on their advice I got a new title from the DMV. During that time (1 week) they put a lien on my vehicle (would have been nice to know about that...) and now refuse to accept my application for a title (the actual one won't arrive for 4 weeks from DMV). In addition to this, every time I tried to meet up with them at their trashy Powell location, they either did not show, or were 2 hours late. These guys cruise around lots and tow cars illegally. Most lots do not meet proper signage requirements, and when I told the driver that I knew the law and that he couldn't tow my car he told me, "that he could do what ever he wants, because he was in possession of my car." It wa loaded on a dolly. Anyway if this happens to you, you should know that there are very specific laws and here is the one that they are breaking: Signage It shall be unlawful to tow a vehicle from a private parking facility unless the private parking facility meets the following signage requirements: 1. At least one sign shall be posted and readily visible at each entryway into the parking lot, not more than 10 feet from the public right of way or street edge. Such signs shall: A. Be posted so that the center of the sign is not more than eight (8) feet nor less than four (4) feet above the ground; and B. Be at least 18" x 24" in size; and C. State that parking is prohibited, reserved or otherwise restricted; and D. State who is authorized to park and the hours during which parking is restricted; EXAMPLE: Parking for customers of "[ ]" only during [ ] hours. E. State that towing and storage of a vehicle will be at the vehicle owner's expense; and F. Prominently display the PPI tower's name and 24 hour telephone contact number for release of a vehicle, and G. Be maintained so as to remain unobstructed by any tree, shrub, bush, vehicle or other obstacle. 2. When a private parking facility is shared by multiple business operations, (i.e. shopping mall or office park) parking spaces must be marked, or signs posted, so as to indicate which spaces are reserved for each business. 3. PPI towers may request an exception to the rules for sign location. Such request must be made in writing and offer an alternative posting for approval. 4. If I could give a negative star I would, God where do I start First off I parked my jeep in my own parking lot of my own apartment complex. It had snowed so every. Spot was invisible and you could not tell which ones were "visitor" or not, I come out to go to work and my jeep is missing. So I call the number on the sign thats only on two spots in the apartment complex, now take this into context as well. My neighbors (aka one apartment with 4 people) also have like 10 cars( which goes against lease and apartment rules, so if I was parked in someone else's spot it's because they took every other spot illegally) the reason I say that is because when all was said and done, the paper said a tenant called the towing co on me... okay... wow. Anywhoozle, so I call the tow co and a rude woman answers. I asked her what happened to my jeep, she says that it's been towed. I became erratic and asked why someone would tow my jeep. She responds " well that's what happens when you park in someone's spot, do you understand that?" Wha.... how can someone speak to someone like that. Rude bitch then told me that I had until 6pm to pick it up from what can only be discribed as the spot where Jimbo the molester drops his dead hookers after he's had his way, mixed with the smell of decay, metal and where dreams go to die, otherwise I will be charged over $400 to pick up my vehicle. So I had to take an uber to pick up my jeep because it's the only way to get there on time. Get there and a sweaty Paul Bunyan looking mofo greets us with a grunty " you gon need id , title, insurance card, first born and every ounce of good feeling you still have in the world" as if he was some over zealous dementor. So after all that and paying $240, the ground is so rocky and just unsafe for anyone to be around. This place should be shut down, it is an abomination. read more

Always helpful and reasonably priced for towing. Their trucks may not be as fancy as some of the others but they are much cheaper. Generally have just charged $50.00 for tows when they can be done on their schedule as trucks are available. Much more for rush tows. read more
