This is a recently-ish remodeled hair salon in Chinatown right next to Hmart. Since its right by Hmart, parking lot is sufficient although it can get really packed. I go here for all my haircuts since they're usually able to accommodate same day appointments/walk ins. Prices vary depending on the stylist, but I think it's pretty reasonable since it includes wash, haircut, and styling. The con is that some stylists are not very fluent in English so it may be a bit difficult to convey your message. read more

A great salon if you want to walk in or make appointment. Significant other desperately need a hair cut and this was the only place that had availability with many hair stylists. Joe cut his hair and it came out pretty decent for a last minute cut. Joe used the traditional Hong Kong style to fade. At first, I was iffy as I was watching from far away but sometimes, you just gotta watch the professional till the end. Cute place as far as wall murals. They were able to get my daughter and I in last minute for back to school cuts. The massage during my wash was amazing! Given the side of town I understood the language barrier and was prepared with photos and easy explanation of requests. I absolutely loved my cut! I had very long hair all one length and now still long.. trimmed the ends with long layers and bangs that framed the face. I wish I would have gotten a name. My daughter on the other hand has very curly hair and the bangs were cut as if she would be straightening her hair. So when they curl it is very very short.. (we know to point for length next time) Very happy only massive dissatisfaction was that no one uses hair protection products before applying heat. read more

I wanted to change up my look and came here for some partial highlights. I didn't want something too dramatic and made sure to tell them I wanted it to look more on the natural side. Rice did my hair and it came out wonderfully! I also wanted Korean style whispy bangs and she did a good job with the bangs and trimming. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she nailed it! The picture is my 1st visit with Rice. My 2nd visit I saw Joe and he was also great! I just wanted to get my highlights touched up and he also trimmed my hair and bangs the way I wanted it. Seems nice and professional, but there was a bit of a language barrier that caused a misunderstanding. Jack really takes his time to cut the right styles or trim. I trust his expertise when I am in doubt of trying a new style. The whole team of stylist are Taiwanese. Again on salon 22 old lady with short hair who put Japanese straightener in my hair and did not use neutralizer ruined my hair it went from long healthy to short thin and brittle. I haven't had a hair cut in a while, so I was hoping to get a decent cut that was still kept long. My stylist also washed my hair, and he really thoroughly cleaned it well. Then he cut my hair, and then he styled it with curls. All for a decent price of $35! In my mind, I wanted the haircut to be shorter before I went in, and I guess somehow my stylist read my mind because he cut shorter than I told him too, but overall I like the look. I got a japanese straightening treatment done for my 4" of regrowth. I originally got my hair done in Japan. The process done here was not the same as done abroad. In Japan, my hair was washed before the treatment, and two stylists worked at once. They set timers and were attentive to my hair, and explained every step and plan. At this salon, my hair was not brushed until after the first solution was applied, which led to a lot of tangling and tearing through my hair. It seemed like the time for setting the solutions was random or whenever the stylist finished a conversation with someone else. There was no discussion. The stylist was very rough, and burned my scalp often. It's been about a week after, and parts of my hair (that weren't part of the regrowth) are FRIED from how rough the stylist was. It's been a week and my hair still smells BURNT and like chemicals. You know when you use a straightener in an inefficient way on your ends? And, it ends up kind of straight but not smooth? That's how my hair was straightened. It was like it was warmed up, but not smoothed. Not sleek, not smooth. Sometimes, the straightener cord was in my face. My hair often fell down from the stylist not putting it up while working on other parts. I also had to hold my own hair up towards the end. The result is what I paid for. However, the experience was underwhelming. The treatment in Japan did not leave my hair smelling like it was burnt. However, that's what I have today. read more

Today I had a great experience with Jay! I called literally at 10am this morning to inquire an appointment for japanese hair straightening, and he was able to set it up for 1pm that very same day. As soon as I walked up to the salon, he welcomed me and started right away. I have long, mixed hair that's on the coarser side . After 5 hours of intricate work, Jay turned my hair into silky and straight pocahontas-like hair. Throughout the whole process, he made sure I was comfortable and had my questions answered. (On a side note, for non-Chinese speaking people like myself, hes awesome to work with and communicate with). I really appreciate how he soley concentrated on one client at a time.He's a perfectionist, and that's the type of person you need when getting a japanese straightening perm done. The staff as a whole were very kind. Teamwork was everywhere I would highly recommend Jay to anyone. (Also, he did an amazing job at cutting my boyfriend's hair. I came here to get my hair cut a while back. The stylist (Male, Black hair, Tall, Around 30-40 years old), who did not know how to speak English, had one of the young ladies translate for him. She asked if I tie my hair up often, and I told her that I do not, and she translated in Chinese to the stylist that she thinks I actually do tie my hair up often. Seriously? Why would I lie? And just because I am speaking in English does not mean I cannot understand you. The stylist then proceeded to cut my hair, and did an absolutely horrible job. One of the worst hair cuts I have ever had. I recommend going to one of their sister salons, Secret Salon, which is across the street. Came in for my straight perm appointment with Jin today. I explained to him that my last perm was about a year ago and about how long it has grown since. He listened but tested my hair to see where the perm needed to start and end. I appreciate this. He explained the process at every step and made me feel very safe. I came here for a haircut and booked it with Jin. I did not expect the place to be busy at 4 pm on a Tuesday. I saw Jin juggling two clients with long hair getting different treatments for their hair. Although I came a few mins before my booked appt, I was told to come back in about 30 mins. I left and came back in 35 mins and Jin was wrapping up with one of his clients. Afterwards, he called me over and sat me for my haircut. Jin has high skill and precision for mens haircut. It was definitely a much finer cut than I have received anywhere for under $50. The total cost of the cut was $28 plus tip. I would recommend coming here for a men's cut. read more

The service I requested was a styling, I needed my hair done for a sweet 15 and don't have much experiencing in doing my own hair. So I decided to go to this salon that I've been considering for my future Japanese straight perm (will soon update on how that goes). On their website I saw they did styling and a woman named Elin was very kind to me! Her service was outstanding and the entire hair washing to styling treatment was perfect. The hairdresser has very little knowledge of how hair dye works. Walked out with lighter hair roots color and darker middle part hair. Under the sun, it looks ridiculous. I did not want to cause a fight when it was done, simply pointed out what is wrong with the results and the hairdresser told me there was nothing she can do or will do cause my previous hair dye color was darker than my new growing hair so the color naturally won't be even... And I did not understand why did not put the darker color on the top and add water brush the remaining hair so that can even it out. It is not a hard job honestly. Very disappointed. This was my first time trying out this hair salon place. I thought that this place would know how to cut a 2 block Korean men hairstyle, but I was wrong. The lady who cut my hair was nice but she did not know what she was doing. She could not get an idea of how she was going to cut my hair. She used a clipper with no guards on it and just trim my hair little by little, at different spots. She also just use a hair thinner scissors to thin out my hair and that was it. No styling, no adjustment, and definitely not a Korean hair style that I was going for. My hair was a bit shorter on one side to begin with but because I'm not a hair expert so I don't know how to fix it. She could have been able to fix it somehow if she had the knowledge or know what she's doing. For the price of $24 for just some hair trim and thinning, was not worth it. Even the trim was uneven on some parts and there was hair sticking out. Does my haircut look like it was $24? I'm sorry but it looked like $10 haircut. The picture with sunglasses was at my old hair salon place that does it for $10 and it was definitely way better than this. That haircut is what I had previously got before coming here. I grew out my hair and wanted to try something new. This is my first and last time here. The lady was nice but she did not know what she was doing and I was a bit frustrated looking at her trying to fumble with my hair. I can't believe I had waited so long to find a salon! I had looked around the Galleria area where I live and stylists were charging $90-100 for a simple cut. I heard about this place from a friend and gave it a try because the listed prices for a women's cut and style is $25-45. I walked in around 2PM on a Friday and was seated within a couple minutes. Linda has been dubbed as my new haircut auntie because of how wonderful my experience was. She spent about 2 hours total between washing, cutting, and styling. I only asked for a 3 inch cut and layer, so that should give some insight into the attention to detail and patience that Linda had! I would highly recommend this place and I am ecstatic that I have a reasonable priced and really cute new hair salon in Houston! read more
