As a guy, I dont normally experience getting my hair washed after a haircut. But with Julie, shes gives me a hair wash after my hair cut every time. Less hair shedding on me after the cut. The salon itself is right next to Crawfish Cafe. They used to have an entrance from the mall side. However, they now only have access from the outside right next to Ocean Palace. I usually avoid Asian hair salons because of a bad childhood haircut experience. Still, I recently decided to give Top T&Y a try, and it was honestly the best decision I've made. Henry was so joyful and amazing. You can really tell he loves beauty and music, and that passion comes through in his work and conversation. He kept the whole experience uplifting and fun. On top of that, he truly worked his magic on my hair. I couldn't be happier with the results, and my haircut is still looking great days later. You know how sometimes the fresh cut looks good at first, but doesn't style the same after you wash it? That's not the case here; my hair is still on point. I am leaving 1 star because of 1) my haircut ended up damaging my hair more than how it was originally and 2) the reaction I received when giving Maggie a chance to correct my hair. I voiced my concerns, and even got multiple comments under my TikTok video regarding my experience about how unprofessional the whole service was. She did my entire head in 15 minutes. For context, my family has gone to Maggie for my haircuts for over 20 years (when I was 3 years old) and we've followed her to every salon. She would be very detailed when I needed layered haircuts in high school, but I haven't gone to her since going to college. Today, I needed a haircut and asked for 2 inches off, and verbally said "straight in the back, with face-framing blended layers in the front," and showed Maggie a video for reference for my layered haircut. She said she understood, no questions were asked. Here is where she messed up: 1) She only used electric razors and a feather blade to trim my hair. Electric razors are bad for your ends because they can get dull, thus leaving your hair to be more prone to split ends. She used that for my lower half, and then for my top half of my hair, she used the hand razor and just grabbed random sections and eye-balled how much she was cutting off. As a kid, she would properly section my hair and use shears. 2) When she was done cutting, she showed me the results, and I told her that my hair looked choppy. I asked if she could use shears to even out the front layers, and instead, she told me she wanted to style and curl the ends to "match" the video. I told her "no" because I don't style my hair everyday, and asked specifically for blended, seamless layers. 3) She lightly misted my hair with water to check for unevenness, but immediately used her straightener on my hair WITHOUT blow-drying the moisture out. She did NOT use heat protectant on my color-treated hair either. It left my ends so dry. She fried the ends of my hair. I make hair content on social media, and my followers agreed that my ends never looked like that before the haircut. 4) When she finished, I told her I did not like the cut and asked her to make it even again, because all she did was straighten it. She did NOT trim the uneven bits in the front. She then tried to say I requested the wrong kind of haircut, but she couldn't even achieve blended layers. I just walked out while my mom was getting her hair dyed because she would pay for us both. 5) Ten minutes later, I came back, and asked her to trim the front pieces that were fried. I told her she could just cut them off completely because it was so damaged from her straightener. She then tried to deny the damage from her straightener (no heat protectant in my hair either), saying it was chemical damage, but I showed my hair to people on the internet and they agreed it was a HUGE mistake to mist my hair and straighten it. People were comparing it to my hair video from last month that got 500k views, and agreed my hair looked so unhealthy after the haircut. She tried to trim a few more pieces, but ultimately took the easy way out and said "come back in 6 weeks, and I'll trim your hair for free" because having shorter pieces would mean that she would have to take the extra time to blend it into the rest of the layers. Basically, if you want a cheap, simple, and quick haircut (dry cut, no wash, choppy), this is the place to go to. I don't know if I was just expecting different results because my old hairstylist in Austin during college was able to cut my hair as I wanted with the same video reference.... read more

I really wanted to like this salon by the reviews and recommendations but... needless to say I came in with blonde hair asking for brown with hi-lites and was assured it wasn't a problem. If she thought my hair was not in good shape she should've said so... yet she went on to do my hair. The first color turn out was this black with blonde hi-lites... I asked to make it lighter.. she said it wasn't a problem... then proceed to recolor my whole head.. looks better at the time but today... you can just see the pictures and judge for yourself. I'm surprised I have never reviewed this salon as I have been a customer of Yvonne for years! What can I say about a place that gives you a top notch haircut and great customer service! I just found out this past year that Maggie was Yvonne's sister. I had no idea...as Yvonne has been cutting my hair for years! My daughter was back from college and she hadn't had a haircut in a long time so I suggested lunch at our favorite sushi place Hokkaido and a visit to see Yvonne who had styled her hair before. We made out appointment for the early afternoon and we met Yvonne. Yvonne has the nicest personality and really takes her time in making sure you are satisfied with your haircut. She does a fabulous job and is very friendly as well! I know all about her kids and what they are doing etc. For your haircut you would start off with a nice shampoo and a little bit of a scalp massage and then your haircut. I will never support a salon that belittles and demeans their customers the way I was treated today. I was recommended this salon by a close friend who had a keratin treatment done there, and had my keratin treatment done more than week ago. Unfortunately the results were not what I expected and after speaking to my stylist, Yvonne today, she asked that I come back in for a touch-up. Yvonne was very nice and professional, as always, and blow dried my hair straight. I explained to her this was nice for now, however, it doesn't fix the root of the problem which that the keratin treatment didn't work on my hair. That my hair was still frizzy and that the treatment had almost disappeared leaving my hair back to its original state when the treatment is supposed to last months. At this point, the owner of the salon became involved in our conversation and literally began yelling at me " What do you expect? You want a miracle? Your hair is already damaged" in front of the whole store. She also began hurling insults such as "Go back to your country."As I turned to leave I heard her speak about my appearance and my weight. I was appalled. Here is an owner of a salon, working in the service industry, who literally stooped to the lowest of the low and completely trashed one of her customers. I have never been treated like that in my life, and will tell everyone to stay far away from this salon. I am seriously disappointed with Maggie! The first time I got my hair done by her; my hair was blonde so I wanted her to tone it down. She bleached highlights to give it some body but the quality of color she used was so horrible that within two washes my hair color came off! I reached out to her again and she was nice enough to tone it again one shade darker than before but same shit happen: my hair color came off within two washes and I was back with bleached hair! So I requested her to do something and she toned it dark brown which eventually turn into blonde after two months! I decided to take a break and not touch my hair thinking the bleached hair I had previously was too strong. After two months I just reached out for a hair cut but she convinced me to get my hair color again so trusting her I did it again! Sadly within two washes the whole color was gone and when I went back to ask her to fix it, she had an attitude. She snatched the color book from my hand, told me she was going to do it Red and just colored the whole hair. Once it was done I looked like a clown! My hair matched with the clown from IT movie! It was so bright that I looked horrible and she just let Me go! I cried so much that I left to another salon to fix it immediately since I had a wedding event to attend that night! Unbelievable. Awful. Worst salon experience EVER. If I could give a zero star rating, I would. Experience: My daughter and I walk in, receive a quote for a shampoo + trim from Stylist #1, who is with a client. My daughter is directed to Stylist #2's chair. Stylist #2, who is about 5'3" and has a short angled bob and tattooed eyebrows, begins brushing the bottom half of my daughter's long angel curls and hands a second hairbrush to my daughter, instructing her to brush her own hair. When asked, the stylist responds, "If I brush it, I will hurt you. Don't you want to brush it yourself?" Um...she doesn't have tender hair. (bad vibe #1) Stylist #1 is shampooing her clients before cutting. My daughter looks at me. I mention to Stylist #2 that salons generally shampoo my daughter's hair before combing/cutting. Stylist #2 responds "That's how we do it here." (bad vibe #2) She then takes bundles of hair, pulls down, and cuts 2-3 inches at a time. It is a method I've never seen used. She seems to be frowning the entire time. Hoping I was being unnecessarily paranoid because I was at a Vietnamese salon with a biracial child, I let it go. She the shampoos my child's hair and, without a word, heads back to her chair. When my daughter returns to the chair, Stylist #2 has her stand for the rest of the time. What is going on??? When she stepped away, she didn't offer a handheld mirror. I started combing my daughter's hair, looking for adjustments I wanted her to do. When I request adjustments, she says that I'm not a stylist and don't know how to cut hair. I'm a paying customer making a simple request. What is wrong with her?? Trying to calm her down, I asked her not to raise her voice, especially with children present, as I was making a simple request. She continues to interrupt me, accuses me of intentionally giving her a hard time, makes random comments about living in a million dollar home and starts demanding Stylist #1 to finish the cut. Mortified, I paid and told my daughter to come away from Stylist #2, who was still ranting and apologized to Stylist #1 as we left. The worst experience EVER. read more

Went here for a much needed haircut after a recommendation. Yvonne was very nice when I called to ask if she was busy on a Saturday. She told me it would be closer to 2PM before she would be free. True enough when I walked in at 2PM she was finishing up with her customer. I waited only five minutes before she came over to ask me if I knew how I wanted my hair cut. I told her and she quickly took me back to wash my hair and then proceed to cut. She worked very fast compared to other hair salons. She was careful with my bangs and did not cut it too short until I told her it was okay. She is attentive and listens to what you want while giving input. I was referred here by a friend. Bad experience. When I first walked it, I was given dirty looks like I must have been lost. Sorry I don't look like the people that shop at Hong Kong Mall. Then when I went back for my micro-blading appointment, the lady barely spoke or understood English. Understandable I guess considering the area. She shaved off half of one brow and tattooed it much lower than the other. She told me my natural brows were uneven. One is wider than the other. I called to make my appointment for the touchup and they refused to do it because I waited 7 weeks instead of 6 weeks. Mind you, they never took down my information for the appointment, they never told me or gave me anything in writing stating that if I come back AFTER 6 weeks they won't do it. Salon was disgusting as well. Bathroom smelled really bad and very unclean. Please consider long and hard before spending hundreds of dollars on bad service and bad work. I went there for a facial. This is the worst facial I have had. I am use to taking off my top and placing a robe on because a facial includes your neck. Neck was ignored. I had my shirt on the entire time. My face was not cleanse with an electric brush. She did not put cool pads on my eyes. I don't believe she is a professional.
