Everything seemed good until it wasn't. I went in asking for a perm since the last person I went to left my hair bad. I asked Andy if he could do my hair the way a certain picture looked. He looked at my hair and looked at the picture, and he said I would need to do the chopstick method. I said fine, as long as he could do it like the picture. He scheduled me with Mac since he's the one who does that service. Hours of time off from my job plus $300-$400, all so Mac could use regular coils. When my hair was done, it looked permed, but not like the picture. I thought time or a few days would give it the final touch after following the instructions I was given. Nope. My hair literally has straight roots and curly ends. I have a picture from just days after having it done. My husband informed Andy, and we had to go based on Mac's schedule. Unfortunately, my schedule also involved having a family member in the hospital at that time. After we finally were able to schedule a day, we were told we still had to pay. Walked in, and one of the guy asked me what service I was looking for, I told him I need a men's haircut but only if they know how to do a taper/fade. He said yes and pointed me to one of the women hairdresser. I was hesitant at first, but decided to give her a try. Asked for a mid taper and lots of texture to the top, hit the mark probably like only 30%... I can't even style my hair the way I usually style it because the cut was so bad. I asked for a lot of texture to do spikes, but she left me with straight cuts and no texture at all. I've asked her to fix some stuff multiple times to the point where I didn't even want anything fixed anymore because it was only going to get worse and worse. I've learned my lesson. We've taken our kids to salons in The Woodlands and have found that the stylist and haircut here has been better than you'd find up that way. Went to Andy yesterday. He helped me took care of my messy hair that's overdue because of the COVID. I always wanted gray toned color, and Andy was able to make it happen. Andy is the man!! I made a previous hair appointment and the day prior he called to confirm. He gave me an accurate price (I came to the salon first so he could see the damage) and he also informed me of the payment methods available; cash or QuickPay. The day I arrived, I planned on being there for awhile. It was approximately 4 hours. He took some clients in between my wait time. Which is completely fine with me. The only reason I didn't give him 5 stars is because there were moments I feel like I was left hanging because he didn't tell me where or what he is doing next. I liked that he had a cubby storage unit where you can store your personal belongings while getting your hair done. Many places don't have that. I will definitely be back when it's time to touch up. I went to Andy's to get highlights for the first time + a haircut, and let's just say it was a disappointment. I want to mention that I had texted him the video of the haircut I wanted + the highlight reference I was wanting. When I got there, I showed him the reference video for the haircut again, and he cut it WAY shorter. I also specifically asked him to make the bangs "not too much" and wispy, but he did the opposite-- now they're chunky. He cut off a lot of my hair length, without even saying anything (about 4 inches of it!), and it wasn't even close to the reference picture. But I stupidly trusted the process hoping it was better. Now onto the highlights-- prior to coming here as mentioned, I showed him the reference photos. He said he was able to do it. But it wasn't even close! I wanted ash blue highlights, but they turned out grey. Not even close to what I wanted, not even the style of highlights (they were thin when the reference photo had a thicker highlight). I left feeling upset but didn't say anything. Paid $230. When I texted him asking how he styled my hair before I left, he ghosted me and left me on read. Don't recommend coming here. read more

Andy is the absolute best! I've been going to him for over 7 years now, starting back when he was at 22 Hair Salon, and I'm so glad he's striking out on his own now. As someone who's got awful vision (when I take off my glasses during a haircut, I see a vague black blob of hair atop a beige face blob) and no fewer than three different hair textures (I don't know how, but I manage to have hair that's curly, wavy, and straight in different areas), getting my hair cut is truly an exercise in trust. That's why when I say I only go to Andy, I really mean it! I've been to tons of hair salons across the city and he's the only one I trust. Andy's so talented, you can show him any photo and he can give you the most flattering version for your face shape. I've been getting my hair cut in an asymmetrical undercut since before people knew what undercuts were. Back then, I tried several different places and people would actually refuse to take a razor to my head because they thought the style was too edgy for a girl . My cousin recommended Andy and he didn't bat an eye at my request. The first time I went to Andy, I got my hair bleached platinum blonde, cut, and straightened with a Japanese perm. He handled all of these with precision and worked dutifully across the hours I was there (let me tell you, bleaching pitch black hair light blonde takes a loooong time)! After that, I've returned for every haircut since. He's really dedicated and takes his time making sure every bit of my hair looks great. Usually, he starts with a wash, then a quick cut, a second wash, then a blow dry and another cut with layering scissors to thin out my hair, then a quick pass with a straightening iron and finish off with final detail trimming and a touch of wax and hairspray. I was hoping for a great experience based on the raving reviews, but unfortunately this wasn't the case. I came in for a haircut as a walk-in. I was perfectly happy to wait as long as needed, but when they did get to me the haircut seemed rushed - it took maybe 10 minutes max from start to finish, including the blow-dry, and ended up looking nothing like the photo I showed. They cut off far too much hair and the shape wasn't right. There is no doubt Andy has good skills and is pleasant to work with. He listens to your preference first then offers his own professional opinion. That's why I read the other reviews and decided to try him. And if you don't mind a smoker works around your face and head, then you will be fine. The only question you should consider is how much you care about the hygiene of a hair salon. Andy uses the same tools (styling brushes & scissors) over and over again without cleaning in between customers. I noticed the brushes he used on my head already have loose hair on them. Came here late night with my wife after work after she called a few places and no one was available after 7. Andy talked to my wife and said sure, I'll stay here for you granted that we were to come for sure. We arrived at about 6:30 and my wife had been wanting to cut off her hair that rached nearly her waist and try a new style. She ended up getting a bob cut and Andy made it look very cute. He even took a few photos that he posted up. he was very detailed. After cutting it and washing her hair and blow drying it, he ended up fixing it up a bit again. He really showed some attention to detail making sure when the hair grew out that the under side wouldn't be longer than the outter.
