Fried green tomato with pepper sauce and goat cheese.
Karen F.

3.5 Stars When I lived on Davis Islands, I used to eat here regularly. Once I moved off the island, however, I never made it back. Flash forward to a Friday lunch with the girls, and we were able to make a reservation here, so I came back to my old stomping ground. Our waiter was busy, but very personable and efficient, and though drinks took some time to appear, once the food order was in, it all arrived in a timely manner. Our group of four started with the fried green tomatoes topped with goat cheese appetizer, and though obviously not made in-house, they were surprisingly good. My friend and I split two lunch entrees - the fish tacos and the special of the day, an ahi salad. For $1 extra, they actually split the salad for us, which was incredibly convenient. Both meals were good, and a generous portion, although I do wish the fish in both had more (any?) flavor. I think their prices are a little high for the quality of what you get, but I understand that's probably to cover the cost of being located on Davis Islands. They have a small parking lot out front which is usually full, but fortunately there is plenty of street parking and neighborhood parking nearby. Even after all these years, 220 East is still a solid choice to grab a leisurely lunch.

Calamari Fingers

Cool little spot right on Davis Avenue. Quick service and friendly servers. The food was good. The presentation of the Bavarian pretzel was uniquely exciting although the cheese dip that accompanied it wasn't very flavorful. The Calamari Fingers were delicious. Perfectly battered, they were lighter than most. The Chicken Quesadillas were also really good. Also noteworthy were the Cuban Sandwich and the Seafood Linguini. Overall, a large selection of appetizers, salads and entrees. Almost anything you're hungry for you can find on this menu (from burgers to pasta to pizza ... Filet Mignon to Soft Shell Crab ... Apple Pie to Creme Brûlée) . Perfect for a date or a family dinner. And a shout out to our server, Abby, who was super friendly and attentive!

Eh, it's ok. Nothing to write about. Service mediocre. Grub, tasteless on the Lobster Bisque and to much bread on the BLT. Cheers

Niki's Smashburger

Two thumbs up for Niki's Smashburger. Love the vibes. Service is top tier. Bottomless mimosas are flowing.

My father exclaimed, "Frasier! These fries are just as good as McDonalds!" I rebutted," They very well may be dad..."

220 East? More like, get me 220 miles east of this establishment. Tonight I dined here with my father who had been craving a cheeseburger (much to my chagrin, my famous home cooked duck à l'orange was not suitable for his palate). My father's cheeseburger was overcooked, sprinkled with bagged shredded cheese, and bun- untoasted. Do not even get me started regarding the random lemon wedge on my plate. Was it garnish? And why had only one of us been selected as holder of the lemon wedge- it was biased and unbalanced. For the record... garnish should not contain seeds! I can only describe this place to be a "fictional depiction of a restaurant one would find in an Off-Broadway play, its food false and a mockery of dining." My father Martin however noted the restaurant was charming, with "cozy" lighting and kitchy Christmas lights around the perimeter of the ceiling. All I wanted was for my detective father to have the pleasant cheeseburger that he had been craving. Maybe this time he'll think twice about passing up an offer of my duck à l'orange. I should have just taken him to McDonalds- but with the looks of the fries we received, it seems like we might have done that already. I'm listening, Tampa. Cuban Sandwich
Andres A.

Visited this establishment for lunch. They have a very extensive menu. Once we entered, we were immediately seated and the waitress was very quick to get us our menu and drink orders. For lunch we ordered the Cuban Sandwich, steak sandwich and the chicken sandwich. For drinks we had the summer Sangria and a few beers. Our lunch was very good I really enjoyed my Cuban Sandwich. The food was good, fast delicious. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for quick food and good service.

This recent visit found all four of us wanting more of Chef Jeannie Pierola's creative and flavorful cuisine! We shared some burrata at the bar while we visited with friends and then moved to our table for a delightful dining experience. The tuna tataki was a fantastic sharing plate to kick off a night of amazing flavors. I had the coconut lime glazed black grouper which featured purple sticky rice, a red curry emulsion, pineapple jalapeño chutney & herb salad. Sharing a bite with my partner was a challenge but I played fair as he gave me a divine taste of his seared duck breast. Our friends shared the octopus tiradito and wild caught sea scallops. They raved about the size of the scallops and the accoutrements. We had no room for dessert and plan to return when we fly back into Tampa later this year.

We started with the sourdough bread which was good. Very unusual butter but it was nice to have something different. For mains we had the street corn agnolotti, grilled honeynut squash, and a fish entree which was black grouper that night. The grouper was overcooked quite a bit. Granted that wasn't the dish that I got but if that's what I specifically ordered I would have sent it back. The street corn was very different, probably wouldn't get that again. The only decent item was the squash. Very good flavors and clean. Overall since I haven't really been pleased the last two times I probably wont be back.

Not only the drinks are phenomenal, but the food is absolutely amazing. The hubs really likes the brussels sprouts here. I think they are too wet. I wouldn't order them myself. I normally like them crispy on the outside and moist in the middle and not wet. It was a weird sauce almost like Cajun, which is unusual for brussels sprouts. I still think Yeoman's has the best Brussels sprouts in the area. The onion rings here are the absolute best. The breading is flat and smooth, and the onions are thick. Places that make the crispy bumpy batter usually scratch my throat being so crispy however, the onion rings here are flat and smooth, and that doesn't happen. I like to order it with a side of beer cheese dipping sauce; it is absolutely incredible. I definitely recommend ordering a side of beer cheese dipping sauce. The drinks here are so strong. I was only able to get one since it was so strong. They are just too strong for me but very delicious. The hubs likes all of the drinks here he's tried them all. I ordered the espresso reposado martini, and I explained it to the server that I didn't want it sweet and he had a smarta$$ remark. I never saw him again after that drink hopefully, I never get that server again. He was ridiculous. The remainder of the service is absolutely incredible. Everyone is super sweet that we ordered food & rest of our drinks from. They must really enjoy their job. They're just a lovely bunch there. Know the menu extensively well and can recommend anything that you're craving for. Except for the first guy that we ordered our drinks from I would avoid that person. He was weird.

There are a few parking garages, but even those are a pain because people park like idiots. The parking situation isn't On Swann's fault, but it's an annoying factor. We had reservations well in advance, so we didn't have to worry about a wait. It was reasonably busy for a Saturday at brunch time. The decor and overall ambiance was classy but comfortable, which is great imo. Our server was nice and checked on us a good amount of times. The wait time between ordering our food and it coming to the table felt a bit lengthier than I would typically expect, but the food was delicious so it's hard to even complain about that. I got the short rib hash and a croissant and both items were wonderful. The croissant was flaky and buttery, it comes with a honey dip and butter on the side, would def get again. The short rib hash was also a menu item I would order again - the eggs were cooked perfectly, and I'd say I'm a little picky with how runny my eggs are. These were runny, but not TOO runny. The potatoes had a nice crisp to the outside but nice and soft on the inside, the short rib was so tender, so juicy, it was just a very well rounded, great tasting hash. This was my first time visiting On Swann for brunch, I'll be back for sure, but maybe on a weekday instead of the weekend since it seems to get pretty crowded in the Hyde Park Village area!

Our table ordered many of the items on the menu as well as specialty cocktails and there's only one thing that wasn't impressive- the gulf fish. Otherwise, all items were delectable and provided complex flavors. My standouts were the pork belly, the beet and crab salad, the duck confit special, the hogfish (and I'm not even a fish person!), the chicken Milanese, and the toffee pudding. For brunch, we ordered deviled eggs, whipped feta, lobster Benedict, sweet potato hash, and the fish amandine. Everything was excellent. The fried oyster on the deviled eggs was inventive and super tasty. The whipped feta has pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top which made for a yummy sweet and savory bite. Hubbys sweet potato hash was flavorful and filling. The lobster bennys had quite a bit of lobster and the old bay hollandaise sauce was perfection. The fresh fish amandine was yellowtail snapper that came out with a beautifully crispy skin, a delicious brown butter almond sauce and sautéed green beans. We were seated at a super small table so it made for an uncomfortable situation with so little real estate available. Also the place looks like it's converted from a garage or something with metal walls and roll up doors that made the sound bounce around. The service was nice. We were well taken care of but they seemed to be spread thin because getting refills and getting our check took a bit longer than expected. One ssue was that the menu was very different from what was online via Google. I should have gone to their website I guess, but several items were not available and the filet I was so excited for had a very different set of items. No Brie au gratin potatoes or braised rainbow chard, citrus gremolata and a fig chutney. Now, let me say that my filet was delicious. I loved the sauce and the asparagus was good but for me, the potatoes were super underwhelming. A nice sauce or something would have made them better. They just tasted bland, were really dry and lacked any flavor. My wife expected the lamb or pork chops, they were both not on the menu. She got fish and chips which she really enjoyed, so it was a win. The Asian wings were our appetizer and were delightful too. Now the only real negative for us was the noise. We got there at 5:30 and it was fine. But as more people came in, the sound bounced around so bad that it became almost unbearable for me. I wanted to go so bad because people laughing and talking made my head hurt. Would I go back? Probably not. I didn't enjoy how loud it was. The food was very good though, so perhaps takeout would be more my speed. We had a nice meal and my leftovers were delicious later that evening.

The space is big with lots of natural light coming in which I loved! Bathrooms: They have restrooms for men and women. The women's restroom had two stalls. The bathroom was pretty clean. I didn't like the coloring of the bathroom, it would make me crazy if I had to sit in there for a long period of time. Service: The minute we walked in, we weren't greeted by anyone and we just looked around because we'd never been here before. It took about a minute or two for someone to help us get a table. The rest of the service was good overall. Our food came out quick. I do wish the happy hour options were explained to us when we sat down, we had to ask our waiter to explain it to us. Food: I'd say overall their food is good, it's not the best I've had in Tampa. If you want to come for a decent brunch and drinks this is a good spot. We tried the 'potato latkes' as an appetizer which was really good. I had their 'Smashburger' for my entree which was good, but I've had better. I did like their fries. The drinks were the best part! I had their 'Pink Hugo' which was really good and my friend had their 'Green Machine' which was delicious. Overall the food was good, but nothing amazing to me. Maybe I didn't order the right thing. I'd be willing to come back and try their brunch options as that seems to be what people like the most. Overall, it's a good place to come for lunch with a friend. It wasn't super busy on a weekday, so you don't need a reservation. The prices are decent, but everything in Tampa is more pricey now. **Parking Tip: they have a VERY small parking lot for customers behind the building. There is a larger gravel parking lot behind the building where you have to PAY to park. It was around $6/2 hours, I'm not sure if it's more expensive at different times. Try to look for free street parking in the area if their free lot is full before going to the paid lot! Or if you can car pool with friends do that!
