I was introduced to this restaurant a year ago by a colleague and I loved it! We're both Italian and I'm very picky. I had the pear/gorgonzola pasta and was not disappointed - it was fantastic! Finally got back here today, luckily due to a work meeting, and ordered the lasagna. Now, being spoiled by my mother's and grandmother's lasagna, I hardly ever pleased when ordering it out so rarely do. There was a restaurant in Miami - Coral Gables to be specific - in the mid-nineties that made lasagna with bechamel and I ordered it every time I went there because it was that good. So I am pleased to say that Amaretto's lasagna is very good! Quality ingredients and baked al forno so quite authentic. I would order it again and that is saying a lot! Worth the trek to this off the beaten trek restaurant. The seared bread complimentary with olive oil and herbs, the creamy from the beans pasta fagioli soup, the daily special: linguine with a generous amount of fresh hand peeled lump flower crab, so delicately sauced!!!! The creamy pasta dishes were good, such as the Alfredo (delish), the Gorgonzola sauce with pear ravioli, and the vodka sauce. I'd say this is their specialty! The chicken dish was chewy and not so good. I'd focus on their pastas here. The salad starter was okay; pretty basic. The tiramisu was dry which made me sad. I think this place is generally probably good for the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. Regardless, the service was warm and friendly and the place was homey and cozy. read more

Wonderful Italian restaurant! I visited tonight with my girlfriend for Valentine's Day and we had a great evening. It was my second time in and my girlfriend's first. We had the meatballs & mozzarella appetizer, chicken with roasted potato & mixed vegetable meal, fettuccini alfredo w/ chicken, lemonade, sangria, limoncello cake, and cannolis. Everything tasted amazing- no complaints from either of us. The staff were very friendly and even gave us some chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day! My experience here was very disappointing. I understand that when you order for Pick Up, sometimes things don't taste the same as eating in a restaurant, but that was not the issue the appetizer were not edible. I have tasted frozen meatballs that taste better than this. They have also gone up in price and I understand but $10 for little meatballs cut in half is not acceptable and my appetizer which was a bruschetta I had to make it at home myself. I visited Amaretto Ristorante on a Thursday evening. My husband and I were the only guests the entire time we were there. It was really strange. I give the food 5 stars but the ambiance and decor 1 star. I had a really hard time rating this place because the food was really great, the staff was enthusiastic and attentive but the inside is really drab. We ordered the lobster ravioli and the Sacchettini which I had never had before. It's made with cheese and pear. The sweetest of the pear is delightful with the cheese. Dishes are priced well in the $15-20 range so you get a lot of quality and flavor for your money. You just don't get ambiance. read more

Best homey, Italian restaurant ever!! Once we found them, we go at least twice a week for lunch. There is one dish that is a must and that is Grouper piccata. To Die for!! Lunch is served with salad and bread. The prices will definitely meet your budget. The lunch portion of Caprese Salad was just perfect! The tomatoes and mozzarella cheese were cool and room temperature. I loved that they had the basil diced up as well. Not a lot of balsamic vinegar, it was just right. They brought freshly toasted bread to the table with real butter! Yummm I had linguine primavera but instead of linguine noodles, I had mine with bow tie pasta. The veggies were cooked well. It has peas, carrots , zucchini, and Broccoli in extra virgin olive oil. This might be my new favorite local Italian restaurant. It is the definition of a hole in the wall; do not let the facade discourage you. The inside is a bit outdated but what is lacking in decor is made up for in the quality of the food, which is what truly matters. The service was friendly and transparent. We walked in on a Friday night with no reservation and were sat and greeted in a timely fashion. Our server kindly advised us that a large holiday party would be ordering soon so that we could put our order in first and not have to wait for all of their food to be done. We shared the tomato bruschetta, fried calamari (a special that evening), fettuccine alfredo with chicken, and farfalle principesa. All of the food was delicious and the portions were perfect for us. This was one of those meals where immediately after eating you feel satiated and ready for a nap, so plan accordingly. Our food cost right around $50 which was surprising considering the quality and the cost of similar dishes at other local restaurants. They do have separate chef special seafood items of the night other than the menu. I also like the bigger dining room with compare to old restaurants. The ventilation also improved from old setup. We start the night with the fried calamari. The coating has a special flavor with seasoning. The dipping marinara sauce is fresh and different. I love it. Ingredients must be good condition to have the good sauce. My wife have the chicken parmigiana with spaghettini with pink sauce. The chicken is breaded with marinated coating. It was crispy and tasty with cheese and marinara sauce. The pink sauce also interesting. My dish is a signature of the restaurant. I have the sacchettini with added grilled shrimp. This is the first time I try sacchettini. It is dumping stuff with pear and mozzarella. Then it cook in Gorgonzola Sauce. It is heavenly good. Great place for some amazing Italian-! We dined on minestrone soup, bruschetta, spaghetti and meatballs, spinach ravioli. All were notable- delicious, flavorful and made you wish to order half of the menu to sample because it all was so so good & from scratch. Brought a group of 8 in tonight for dinner. Everyone loved their meals. I ordered the Sacchettini with Grilled Shrimp. This might be the best pasta dish I have ever had in my life. I didn't know how the pear would work with the pasta but WOW... it was out of this world!! Everything from the bread to the dessert (tried the cannoli, and mousse cake) was perfectly prepared. I never believed in going out for spaghetti and meatballs. It's like going out for black coffee, or ordering vegetables with your side of plain chicken. If I wanted something plain, boring, or average.. I'd eat at home. My bf always orders spaghetti and meatballs at Italian restaurants and I always make fun of him... like..are you 5? Would you like chicken nuggies and fries with that? I was shocked when I took a bite of the spaghetti and meatballs... I've never tasted marinara so delicious..or just spaghetti and meatballs this good. It was delicious and I will return for more. My bf has good taste. I have lived in West Tampa for over 3 years. I could walk to this restaurant. I have passed it hundreds of times. My partner and I came here to avoid cooking and boy did we stumble across a new favorite spot. The atmosphere is certainly odd but the service and the food make up for it and some. We started with the calamari (not on the menu but they have it) and I think it's one of the best I've had. I ordered the lobster ravioli and my partner ordered the chicken parm. We ended up splitting the 2 because of how much we each enjoyed them. We had to order dessert after such a great experience and neither of us regretted our choices of tiramisu and cannoli. Not wanting a traditional pasta dish, I decide on Chicken Marsala. I was not disappointed. My meal was accompanied by 2 side dishes consisting of potatoes and steamed broccoli. Great little neighborhood Italian restaurant in West Tampa. I was that this place had 5 stars, so I decided I absolutely needed to try it. The restaurant is in a tiny mini-mall. We went at 7pm on a Friday and were able to be seated without reservations or waiting. There's plenty of parking in the private lot outside. Service was very friendly and good. The food was all delicious. We started with the margarita pizza, the tomato and basil bruschetta, and the fried calamari (it wasn't on the menu, but we asked, and yes, they have it). I thought the bruschetta was the best, the other two were fine, especially since we were all hungry. For my main, I had the sacchettini with chicken. It was absolutely delicious. My husband had the lobster ravioli with shrimp. My kids each had the spaghetti with meatballs (there is a kids menu, but you need to ask for it). They have wine and beer, but the selection is quite limited. Basically, there's one option per varietal. I had a passable Chianti. My husband enjoyed his sangria more. After reading reviews my bf and I wanted to try this place. We were sadly disappointed. My bf had rigatoni bolognese , to say the least he ate it but it was so tasteless and tasted like jarred pasta and jarred sauce. He was hungry so kept eating. The chicken was horrifying and I normally don't give a restaurant lower then 3.5-4 stars but this was just not for me. I replaced my food with the spinach ravioli and it was 6 sad ravioli for I think 15.99 (ended up at pdq later that night and ate for $15 4 chicken tenders , 4 nuggets and macncheese cause I was starving) which I could've easily saved and gone to Casa Santo Stefano which is in Ybor City and incredible! The spinach ravioli had a weird texture and after taste . I am not picky but I've had my fair share of Italian restaurants and this one missed the mark. I didn't pay for my meal and the waitress was understanding . The inside of the restaurant was kind of depressing not going to lie. Just some random paintings on the wall but music was calming , it just looked like an old person had decorated it. Most of the people eating were in the retirement age so I don't know if that says a lot due to the lack of seasoning on their food. Only good thing was the starter bread . The bread they gave us at the beginning got us excited for our meals which we were really let down. The sausage pizza was perfect (appetizer). I had the linguini with crab meat and it was delicious. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Finished the evening off with limoncello cake. Divine.
