Korean Bowl with shrimp and a watermelon Mojito
    Krista P.

It's been a while since I've been in. Cody at the bar was my server and we both recognized each other from my last visit. He is such a hard worker and always on top of it with everything! He quickly got me started by suggesting a watermelon mojito to go with my water. It completely hit the spot on this hot summer day. I also ordered by favorite Korean Noodle bowl with shrimp. You cannot go wrong with this dish! While the food and drinks were amazing the interaction with Cody completely elevated the entire experience! Highly recommend True Food Kitchen!

Good food but very overpriced. I guess what do you expect from Midtown? The ancient grain bowl was great. Shrimp was okay... some parts were chewy and tasted like they needed a couple more minutes on the grill. Service was good. Waiter came by to check on us a couple of times. Nothing exceptional though.

True Food Kitchen in Midtown is a win if you want healthy food that still brings flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is perfect, situated right in the center of the square.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I started with a $5 happy hour Stella and their hummus appetizer, which was fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. The Jambalaya Pasta was my main dish. It was made with chicken, sausage, and shrimp, and just the right amount of spice. Service was friendly and fast. Great spot for dinner, especially if you like meals that are "better for you" health options.

First time here and not what exactly what I expected. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked that it was very well lit from all the windows and seating was spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were friendly, but seemed a bit busy and sometimes were not always attentive to the table. Bright side - the size of the salad was huge. It was more than i could finish in one sitting, but was very fresh and I enjoyed the ginger dressing. I was not a fan of the fries as they were not crispy and nothing is worse than half soggy fries that are advertised as crisp.

Drove an hour and a half just to eat here because its my husband's favorite place in the world lol. It didn't disappoint. It was good and the service was top notch. Please note, We ordered the chicken parmesan without parm due to an allergy and it was still fabulous.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]True Food Kitchen is basically a wellness retreat that serves food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The iced matcha looked like a layered science experiment and tasted like my stress levels got evicted. The roasted cauliflower was crispy, herby, and somehow the loudest dish at the table (in a good way). The grain bowl (steak added) was packed with grains, sweet potato, mushrooms, edamame; aka "balanced" and filling.

One of my favorite restaurants (for healthier choices that is) to dine at. This particular location is in the "new" Midtown area of Dale Mabry. We've visited here a 3-4x and my only complaint is the long wait to order/get service and the time it takes to get your food. It's never packed or busy when we come here, so I'm not sure why it seems to take a while to place your order. The staff are very friendly and we never seem rushed. I don't have a favorite dish, but I do like all the healthier options to choose from. I will say some of the menu items don't have a whole lot of flavor, but maybe that's intentional since this is more of a healthier food choice.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]So before I go into the unique menu, terrific food, excellent staff, lovely atmosphere, and super caring kitchen, I want to address the restroom situation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had avoided True Food at this location because we'd read reviews here and on Google about the restrooms. Most were negative and said things that implied the restrooms were outdoor facilities basically open to "the street", filthy and unsanitary. Our experience couldn't have been further from the truth.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the restroom entrances are outdoors, they are blocked off from the casual passer by and are only accessible through True Food's patio seating area. We found both the men's and women's to be clean, well stocked, and perfectly fine[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I am very particular about public restroom cleanliness (OK, I'm a bit of a freak about it), especially in restaurants. If you have been hesitant to try True Foods because of all the "bad potty" reviews, I get it; it's a little weird. But I promise you the restrooms are just fine and you won't regret giving True Food a chance[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We started with the Kale Aid and the Sparkling Pear Cactus Tisane which were both refreshing and delicious. I had the Mediterranean Breakfast Bowl and Clyde had the Southwest Tofu Scramble. Both were fabulous. I really appreciated that our server caught that my pita was not gluten free. She whisked my plate back to the kitchen and within five minutes I had a completely new plate with the gluten-free bread. Super impressed with how seriously they took my food allergies! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is beautiful, but the outside patio is the great attraction here. It's spacious & lovely, with live music playing in the plaza and people watching at its best.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For those who don't know (because we didn't) Midtown is an upscale outdoor mall/community space shops, restaurants, and vendor markets on weekends. There is free garage parking. It's a bit of a drive from our side of the Bay, but it's well worth it. Highly recommend!

We arrived at 5p to share an evening with our daughter. She stayed at the Eclectic (Marriott) hotel and this gastronomic experience is on the adjacent Green. Location location !!! Highly disappointed with their lack of draught beer. Cans don't make it. With lots of margaritas on the drink menu I really expected to find a frozen concoction to ease us into sublime Olivia, our server, said they didn't have the appliance. . . Yet?!! Disappointed I was but Olivia suggested the spicy fruity margarita special. Eh? So so. I had the spicy jambalaya pasta. This is a new item and I didn't leave hungry. But more could have been done to enhance the experience. There were no accompaniments. This is a gluten free restaurant but there are alternative crisps that would have complimented the pasta. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Aside from location, the surrounding exciting multitudes, it is a novel experience to park it and walk around a new urban community full of tourists and local workers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A nice experience. Our daughter has enjoyed her meals here. We will return

Grilled Sustainable Salmon with Wild Rice Pilaf, Snap Peas, and Thai Basil Vinegarette.
    Ruthie R.

Our server was very slow on this particular Saturday afternoon. She was very nice, but very slow. Luckily, TFK will always get 5 stars from me because their dishes are always clean, healthy, and delicious. The Grilled Sustainable Salmon Entree with wild rice pilaf, snap peas, and Thai basil vinegarette has become my new favorite dish at about 600 calories per serving. I'd have to try the Air-Fryer Fries again to give an accurate review. I think they were probably not at their best, so I'd like to keep an open mind and give it a 2nd chance. If you're looking for guilt-free, nutrition food that tastes amazing.... you can't go wrong with True Food Kitchen.

    Natalia B.

The burg was alright. It was overdone and lacked robust flavor. Their special ketchup sauce was good though. Fries were meh. I got a bunch of small fries that seemed like they came from the bottom of the basket. Prob won't go again. Server was also just okay. He didn't even introduce himself lol

Clean Eating is something that's intriguing, and I'm guessing by the name and their messaging, that everything here is quality and fresh, and while eating it seemed that way for sure. I guess I'll take them on their word. Hope it's all clean stuff. The side kale salad was a steal at 4 bucks and I'd get it again if I needed a meal enhancement. The shrimp lettuce wraps were also good. The lettuce was small which worked out great actually as I just made single shrimp wraps so I just popped my mouth to the "gape" position, and ate my crafted "wrap" in one bite. That peanut sauce was good! They have a bunch of bowls as well and they can substitute grains for rice and vice versa (rice versa?). Good pivots and lots of substitution options in their meals. The outside bathrooms were pretty disgusting. I'm guessing people in the streets see it and use it and just wee-wee all over the place. Huge miss for this establishment. The floors were soaked! 1 Star Bathrooms! It's in Midtown Tampa and was right across from the Aloft/Element hotel so super convenient for a quick bite. I'd go back, but I'd use the bathroom at the hotel first.

I came to True Food Kitchen for an event, and the buffet-style food was really very good, fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you'd expect from their healthy, seasonal focus. The staff was super attentive to our group the whole time, which made everything smooth and enjoyable. I grabbed a glass of wine, and while it's on the pricier side, it was nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location in Midtown Tampa is really cool, I don't get over there that often, so it's definitely on my list to check out again for a regular visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great spot overall

The person running the to-go line(s) was very helpful when she heard I was a first timer, and gave me lots of helpful tidbits. I ended up going with the buffalo salad: carrots, celery, romaine, tomatoes, croutons, then sub feta instead of blue cheese, and the spicy buffalo ranch dressing on the side. I topped this was a side order of grilled chicken. I also ordered a single pretzel stick. Food was ready incredibly quickly. I'm used to a chain restaurant I frequent a lot for salads that takes an unusually long time to prepare food, so this blew my mind a little. I did not love the pretzel stick = it had the taste of garlic, which I hate. I did really like the salad though, although I would have preferred all the ingredients to be mixed, instead of sitting on top of the salad. Plenty of toppings though, over a generous portion of lettuce. No ambiance review because from what I gather this a to-go only kind of place, which is a cool and useful concept. I will definitely be back when the salad craving hits.

It keeps me full the whole night, and honestly just makes me feel good after eating there. The texture is spot on, the flavor is amazing, and I genuinely feel healthier eating it while still hitting my protein goals. Some people prefer Chipotle as their go to meal -- personally, I'd take Fresh Kitchen every time. I also love that they don't use seed oils. I can't stand putting that stuff into my body. Dear Mr. Eric Smithers…read more I am writing to share a disappointing experience I had at your New Tampa location. While placing my order, I felt that I was being rushed before I had an opportunity to decide what I wanted. The staff appeared impatient throughout the interaction as I was on the phone with my elderly mother trying to explain the options to her so I may bring her a meal from your popular establishment. When I calmly expressed that I felt I was being rushed and asked for patience, instead of addressing my concern, I was told that i was being rude. The staff were rolling their eyes and purposely ignoring my corrections as I tried to clearly give them my choices. They were also throwing the food in the plates. My concerns were dismissed, rather than acknowledged. They were just silently being nasty by using body language and they were very intentional so that I would be provoked. My plates were pushed to the side while they finished other orders and when I called the server on it. The manager came over and accused me of being rude and became very provoking by gaslighting me, into I being the problem, and instead of helping I was chastised and told that if I did not stop talking my order would not be completed and I will not be served. When I tried to tell the manager that I was not angry and that Im trying to talk loud enough so they can hear the order over loud music and other background noises I was again accused of being rude. I did not cuss or say anything that was disrespectful to any server just begging to finish my meal request so I may pay and leave, the manager proceeded to chastise and berate me in front of other customers and took my plates and threw them away. The situation escalated to the point where I was told that the staff would not continue taking my order. I left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and unwelcome. I sir with all do respect am a 53 year old grandmother and a nurse for over 30 years of service. The level of disrespect I received was horrible and instead of protecting the customer the manager encouraged that behavior even when I begged to just finish the order. I understand that restaurants can be busy, and I always try to treat staff respectfully. However, I believe customers should also be treated with patience, courtesy, and should be heard before judgment was made. I hope this incident can be reviewed so that future customers do not have a similar experience. Also my poor mother was on the phone listening to the entire interaction and she agreed that I was not given an opportunity to explain or to finish my order I was dismissed and continuously provoked during that interaction. I would appreciate a response regarding how this matter will be addressed. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Ms. Sakinah Haynes Sent from my iPad
