There's a trade off finding a caregiver company who would provide caregiver versus a private caregiver. When my husband was diagnosed with cancer, we signed with 24 hr home care. In the beginning, we have tried numerous caregivers. We started with 24/7 then cut back to only 12 hours once my husband was feeling better. Then back again for 24/7 as my husband's condition got worst. Some caregivers were very awesome and caring but some are bad such as sleeping on their job, showing up late, or just doesn't do anything unless you tell them to. We were fortunately to encounter some great ones who took great care of my husband until his final days. There are few things you need to be aware of: 1) Make sure you keep track the dates and times that the caregiver is present for your loved ones. I had a few days when there was no caregiver and still get charged for it. Or, I get charged double for the same shift. 2) Don't depend fully on the caregiver. They are like us, they might call in sick or have car problems. Make sure you have a back up plan and be ready to take the shift yourself. We had a hard time especially around holidays, when no caregiver would take the shift or cancel on us at the last minute. 3) Make sure your care plan is very clear as there's a potential someone new caring for your loved one everyday. 4) They are non-medical caregiver, so make sure you plan out the pills in an organizer so they can dispense and just let your loved one take the med. Overall despite some hiccups, some of the caregivers took great care of my husband until his final days and we are very grateful to them. It's a tough job mentally and emotionally. **Please read if you are searching for reliable care for your loved one** We had a horrible experience with 24 Hour Home Care. They left my 101 year old grandmother stranded. On 6/25/20 we had a Zoom call with a Client Care Consultant to set up my grandmother's profile and ask questions. He showed the usual pitch deck highlighting all their services and assured us there would be a caregiver who could help us with our grandmother's move to another apartment for 4 hours on Sunday (6/28/20). When we asked how much lead time they would need on any given day, both our contacts confirmed "even call us just 2 hours before you need us and we will be there". We gave them ample notice, notifying them 4 days in advance of our needs. "No problem", The Consultant replied. This was a call that took over an hour to complete, he took our credit card information, and we were supposedly all set. The day before we required services, we were informed the caregiver who was assigned to us had car problems and would not be able to help. Yes, the day before! They told us they were working on finding a replacement. As of Sunday morning (the SAME day we needed help), they still had not found anyone, but yet, only replied they were "working on it". They called back after a few hours and said their caregiver didn't want to transport our grandmother, but only wanted to meet at the new apartment. Because we were in a bind, we tried to accommodate their demands (interesting, since we are the paying customer, right?). They called back and said, "Sorry that caregiver no longer wants to help." We called our Consultant multiple times for help. He gave us his number during the intro call and he even said "if you need anything, please let me know." Never heard from him! They never gave us enough time to find a replacement from another company. We even tried to bend and meet their requirements just so we could have help. This was very stressful for my 101 year old grandmother. 24 Hour Home Care is very unprofessional, sloppy, and unacceptable. So key takeaway: Need reliable caregiving services for a loved one? This place is a BIG NO. Red flags everywhere. I've told several friends who were waiting for an update on my experience and told them all to look elsewhere. 24 Hour Home Care? Yeah, right. I requested home care because I had just returned home from skilled nursing with a broken hip. the person they sent stayed 30 minutes at most and refused to give me any care. I talked to 24 on phone and was told I wanted person to leave. They said I would only be charged one hour. I heard them tell employe that complain about their travel time they would pay them 2. hours When I got bill they charged me 4 hours. I have called and written emails to get this amount adjusted. I think this bill is outrageous for 1/2 hour in my home. But 24 hour will not respond or adjust my bill. Would not recommend them to anyone. They obviously care very little for customers. Update: After I posted my complaint about being billed a full 4 hour charge for 1/2 hour service, 24 hour kindly reached out to me and reversed the charge. Also apologized for the misunderstanding with the care person sent to my home. I contacted 24 Hour Home Care for a caregiver for my mom despite a previously bad experience with the Los Angeles location. This location turned out to be worse. My mother is recovering from both hip surgery and a fractured knee and needed a caregiver to assist during her transition back home from skilled nursing. Here are the caregivers they sent over the past week. Caregiver 1: Sleeping on the job - not just nodding off while sitting down, but actually laid down on my mother's couch and slept. We are not paying people to take naps. Caregiver 2: Left a mess on the kitchen counter, and failed to refrigerate food that she removed that ending up spoiling because of this. Good on her that she's not paying to replace the food she ruined, but we have to. My mother, who currently uses a walker, had to clean up the mess due to the ants that had gathered. Caregiver 3: Took my mother to a doctor's appointment via reckless and aggressive driving, frequently cutting people off and honking the horn. Why are you putting someone's else life at risk and elevating her blood pressure prior to an orthopedic appointment?? Subsequently, she ate a large meal at our home during her shift, making another huge mess by dripping food and liquid all over the floor. Why is she eating at the dining table while she's supposed to be supervising my mother who is a fall risk??? When my mother asked her to clean up her own mess, she did so very unwillingly, and when asked to clean up a spot next to her mess, she said "no, I didn't do that." Last time I checked, caregivers did not eat during a 4-hour shift and light house cleaning is part of the job description. Caregiver 4 was the only decent one in that she did was she was paid to do. Caregiver 5: showed up late, then repeatedly went outside the house to use her cell phone for 15 minutes at a time, and then ordered food - yes, you read that correctly. We are not paying people to talk on their phone or to have food delivered to themselves. Ridiculous. When you get paid to do a job, then DO YOUR JOB. If you need to attend to personal matters constantly, then don't put others' safety at risk. Just stay home. We called the agency to ask her to leave. We are fed up with the complete lack of integrity and accountability this agency has shown in sending incompetent, lazy, caregivers, including one who was a reckless driver and several who seriously put my mother's safety at risk. I spoke with a "quality assurance" representative who told me they'd look into this matter, which is all fine and good, but the fact remains that my mother has now been the casualty of your negligent hiring at the hands of the appallingly unqualified caregivers who visited her home this entire week. This company does an exceptionally poor job of both training and vetting these contractors/employees, if at all. I will NOT be using this agency again, and am immediately switching to another one. I will let others know about my experience, and hope that no one else gets these same "caregivers" sent to "look after" their loved ones. read more

I don't know other providers of caregivers, so i only know 24 Home Care as a base. Initially I've had caregivers that were really great, and as time went I've been better able to determine my needs for home care. In between as caregivers come and go, some of them were not so good (a caregiver with a cane is supposed to help me with a walker?). That being said as time goes on I see it's harder to get caregivers on a consistent basis. I know 24 Hour tries. I think I know it's hard to get caregivers. However it would be nice to have someone coming to me consistently until I don't need anyone and can live independently. read more

The staff is attentive and helpful as a call center. However, the caregivers they hire are not trained well and very unprofessional. They needed care themselves! I needed a caregiver to stay with my mom during the day while I worked. The assignments were easy. Take her to exercise class, make sure she eats lunch, and sit with her. I never asked them to cook or clean. One caregiver was an older woman who parked on our sloped driveway and didn't help my mom out of the car each time they went out. One of my neighbors saw it on multiple occasions and finally told me. My neighbor even came to help my mom out of the car and told the caregiver to help her! The woman also came into our house and rummaged through the kitchen to eat whatever she could find. She never even asked me. She just did it. I asked for another caregiver. Another one had no training on how to handle a senior with the onset of dementia. She called me and texted me so many times that I gave up and had to leave work to come home after a few hours. I tried to use her more than once to give her a chance and gave up. I asked for another caregiver. Finally, there was an older man that spent the most time with her. He became so overly familiar with us that he wanted me to pay for him to participate in my mom's exercise classes because he felt sorry for the teachers who get paid per student. He also expected me to pay for his lunches. It became super expensive because I left money each day and he would pick the restaurant where he wanted to eat and not where she wanted. $30 a day x 4 or 5 days? One day his old car broke down and he and my mom were stranded in the heat of summer on the side of the road. He called me and said that they were being taken by tow truck to a repair shop and could I come pick her up. Where was 24 Hour Home Care? She was hiked up into a tow truck? What? That's not the worst of it. I came home one day to find that he grabbed my mom's arm and bruised her. He did this on two separate occasions. I could see the fingerprints! I was so upset that I almost called the police. I left 24 Hour Home Care after over a year. I complained about the older man who grabbed my mom. I even sent photos of the bruises to their corporate headquarters. They basically said that they couldn't really do anything. I forewarned them. He will do this again to someone else. The only reason I didn't file a complaint with the police was that I felt sorry for him. He's a senior himself living in an apartment with his sickly wife! However, I gave 24 Hour Home Care every chance to take action and they did not. During the pandemic and after I stopped using the service, he stopped by my house several times. I saw him talk to my mom and then drive off. The last time he came by, he asked me if he could work on the side from 24 Hour Home Care. He said that 24 Hour had him taking care of an older man who he had to help shower and toilet. He had long nails and had to trim them too. He was disgusted. Obviously, that was not the type of job that he wanted. Believe me, I've heard him complain about other clients too. At any rate, he wanted $15/hour which was half the rate that 24 Hour charged me. I said "no" and that I lost my job. I started to get scared because he kept coming over. You never know what he would do since he already crossed the line twice before. Is he that dense that he doesn't understand that I got rid of him? I am not using 24 Hour Home Care for a reason! There were too many caregivers from this company that I felt were inadequate and bordering on unethical and dangerous. Find a reputable agency with trained caregivers. I could have lost my mom by the action of a man with no self-control and a company that wouldn't even address the issue with the man. I just didn't know any better at the time and had faith in a "professional" organization. If I could give them a minus rating here, I would. Do your shopping around and trust your instincts. Your family member is too important and the heartache, worry, and pain for yourself is not healthy. read more

This company has HORRIBLE customer service. The caregivers are good but when they don't show up they can never provide a replacement caregiver. They never call you, you have to call them when there is no caregiver at the scheduled times. Communication between the company and the clients and their caregivers is HORRIBLE. When you call them it's a minimum of 20-30 minute wait to talk to someone. I have been with them for 20 months and the customer service just keeps getting worse. Still waiting for a phone call back.... I guess when the going gets tough, this place likes to hide under a rock and hope unhappy customers go away quietly! Wrong! Thought this place was a gem from our zoom consultation. This Consultant knew all the right things to say to make you believe that this was a legit place to trust your love ones with. We were dead wrong. From the moment we logged off that zoom consultation on Thursday, it was all downhill! On Saturday, we received multiple phone calls throughout the day, or as they liked to say "updates".... impressive. These callers always started the call with "we would just like to update you.......". We were given the info of Caregiver 1 and everything was confirmed for Sunday from 4-8p. The nightmare begins. Some hours later, another "update"... Caregiver 1 cancelled, but they were actively looking for another caregiver. Couple hours later... another "update". Then another. Finally, Saturday evening, Caregiver 2 was finally scheduled and confirmed for the next day for a 4-8p shift. The morning my grandmother was supposed to move, we received a phone call at 10:30 "updating" us that they were looking for Caregiver 3. By this time, I decided to call our Consultant to see what was going on.... I thought this was just a communication error on their part because Caregiver 2 was already confirmed the night before. A call came in about an hour later "updating" us that Caregiver 2 cancelled. The same standard response of "we are still actively looking" was given. I explained to the rep that we were in the middle of moving and it was crucial for a caregiver to be present to help my 101 year old grandmother. Our main concern was safety precautions and fall preventions because of her age. Once again, I was reassured everything was ok. When I asked her if there was a possibility that they may not find anyone, she said she wanted to be transparent with me and mumbled that "there is a possibility". Another couple hours later.... I received more phone calls telling me they were still looking and that they may have found Caregiver 3. However, she wasn't interested in going to the first address. She just wanted to meet us at the new address. I found this a little odd, but we were desperate! We rearranged and scrambled to accommodate this caregiver's request and when I called back to let them know we would just go with Caregiver 3, I was told, "well, let me see if she's still available". I couldn't believe it. I told her it had only been 30 minutes. The rep told me she would call me back to see if this caregiver would still be available. At 2:45p, I received the final call telling me that there was no one that could help us. One hour and 15 min before we were supposed to move my grandmother. All this time, I was hoping Our Consultant would call me, as he instructed us to call him anytime on his direct line. Crickets on his end at this point! My family was left to figure out how to transport our grandmother to her new address and get her safely inside her residence. Today is Monday 6/29, not even an "update" from Our Consultant or even the Owner/Co-Founder, but I guess that was asking too much. We will make sure that this company is known to our friends, family, and especially our colleagues in the healthcare industry who are always in need of professional caregivers that this is NOT the company to trust your love ones with. They strung us along for 4 days until the final minutes. Pure abandonment on their end. Absolutely unacceptable, especially when it comes to this type of care. This company is without a doubt, a big scam. Bells and whistles to reel you in... and then no follow through. The only thing they followed through on was charging our credit card! read more

Caregivers are very professional & arrive on time. The VA offered us five agency's to chose from. I browsed through Yelp and "24 Hour" had the best reviews so I of course chose them. We had used a different agency before and I can tell you that 24 hour care is so much more reliable and they try very hard to match your needs. I also really appreciate their after hours hotline. Our last agency didn't have a 24 hour line and sometimes the caregivers would just not show up, it was very frustrating. At 24 hour, if a caregiver is calling out sick, they try their best to get a replacement so your not left with no caregiver. Caregivers also come dressed in professional attire and if running late, the will text or call you which a huge plus! Melyssa Rash has been a great help to our family! Our caregivers are kind, responsible, professional, and DEPENDABLE!!!!!!! My letter grade for this company is an A! When calling, you are placed on hold for a long time (only with Jessica) The after hours line, you literally have to wait 15 min or more. We had our regular caregiver quit within a day's notice after coming back from respite. So cold hearted and unprofessional. Prior to this, her car broke down a lot and there were several times that she would bring her personal issues to work. Lots of crying, talking to us about her problems, arriving late, cell ringing a lot, etc. I had let them know in the beginning that she wasn't a good fit but they suggested to give her a second chance which I did. Again, the communication was off....24 hour let us know one day before, and they told us our new caregiver would be a new person. Elderly people get attached to their caregivers and it is sad when people cannot promote professionalism and or at least give the family a standard two weeks notice. Even if things are not working out, it is still nice to give notice. I hope things change. Update 09/2018: We have had 3 amazing caregivers and they are still with us and they come on time and we are happy. We lost one caregiver due to them changing careers, she gave us a one month notice which was very kind and professional. We will miss her dearly! read more

This company could not guarantee coverage. They are clearly over-extended. Cancellations and unstaffed shifts were common. I had the experience of nearly losing my job from having to leave work so many times to care for my parents when this company failed to fulfill its contracted shifts. They shouldn't take on more clients because they cannot fulfill their promises. Additionally, one of their nurses dropped my 100 pound mother on her face and then blamed it on my mother despite the fact that this company was hired specifically to protect my mother from falling. I do not recommend this company to anyone who needs reliable care for their loved one. Despite what the co-owner's response below says, it was not a failure to find someone with whom my mother had a strong bond or anything of the like that caused us to end business with this company, it was a failure of their ability to find ANYONE to reliably show up. I am a 49 year old quadriplegic from a spinal cord injury. I am from Sacramento. During June 10th through the 13th of 2014, I had an opportunity to go to Newport Beach to stay at a beach house with my family. Being extremely expensive to bring my own care provider, I was informed about 24Hr HomeCare as an alternative. Before the trip, I made arrangements for the care I required with Grace Kim at the Irvine branch. She was very friendly and helped guide me through the whole process. After I arrived for my trip, the next morning I was greeted by a lovely young lady by the name of Jazsper. She was punctual, friendly, and very professional. I also enjoyed our conversations we had the two days she came in. Between her personality and professionalism, it made the whole comfort level of working with a new person much easier. In between the two days Jaszper came in, another lovely young lady named Margaret assisted me. She too was punctual, friendly, and very professional. Again, the conversation during the care provided was enjoyable; also making things easier for me to be comfortable while receiving my care from a recently-met person. Overall I am very satisfied with my experience: I was helped through the whole process by the management; I received the care I needed from professionals with great personalities; all while saving several hundred dollars by not having to bring my own care provider (sorry to her though). So if you are travelling and require personal care like me, you may save some money while having a positive experience with your care in the process. I'm in disbelief of the horrible communication with this company. I got a call I would have a provider at 10:30 this morning. No one ever showed. I called and they said no one was scheduled I attached a pic of the voicemail I received from the company confirming there was. On top of that the first time I used them I called to get a provider and they never got back to me that they found someone. So I found someone else. Then a provider shows up at my door. I got a ride to the Surgical Center via their transportation app (very prompt) and was picked up after my colonoscopy by Kathryn who stayed with me for 4 hours after the procedure. She was GREAT!! I had no problems except for the original sign-up with DocuSign. This is the second time I used their service and would recommend them again. Everyone has a different experience. I did an intake with them over the phone on a Monday for my developmentally disabled adult son. They told me later the next day that they needed a face to face meeting before they would accept him as a client. I had to take a half day off to accommodate their meeting request. About 1 and a half hours prior to meeting, they call and cancel. They said they couldn't handle my son's behaviors after all. I work 30 miles from my home and lost a half days pay because of their incompetence. read more

When I was hospitalized, Blake worked with my daughter and sister to set up a schedule for 24-hour care, which I required when first discharged from hospital. Blake came to visit me in the hospital and listened to my concerns and reacted appropriately. When my health improved and I became more independent, they adjusted the schedule appropriately. We were given a list of home health care providers from our hospice social worker. We called a day before the scheduled surgery and 24hr care had their Orange County Admissions Director, Jesse, at our home by 4:PM. What a professional young man. This company is top shelf! Jesse interviewed us to get a good match in a caregiver, as well as furnishing all the legal documents. Their employees are W-2 , not contractors. We were totally impressed with everyone, including the administrators and caregivers. A caregiver was at our home the day after surgery and I can truly describe her as an angel.
