These guys are worse than dealing with the DMV, or the Social Security office! All they want to do is try and sell you pet insurance with their high-pressure sales pitch that rivals Amway and its methods. I was trying to do a simple transfer of ownership for a cat and it took over a week. I had to re-fax in a form twice, make about 8 calls to customer service. I'm still waiting for that to happen, and, I'm paying a $12.95 transfer fee for the pleasure of this experience. I've never witnessed such bad customer service. During the transfer process, they blew-out my entire account and the other pets I've had registered. That was phone call number 8 to restore my account info. Fortunately, a competent agent named Sherman was able to help out with that. Holy crap, these guys are bad. If it were possible to give half a star, I would. read more

I adopted my dog 5 years ago from a rescue in Colorado and this tag was included as part of my adoption fee. I logged in, registered my pet and didn't think about it again until I moved across the country to Massachusetts. This morning, I logged in and was given a pop-up to call in when I tried to update my address and phone #. After waiting on hold for nearly 20 minutes I was told that I had to pay $14.95 or $39.95 as others have been told. I told the agent that I thought it was completely preposterous that I have to pay to update my pet's information since I had already bought the chip. She apologized to me and said that they have to defray the costs of providing 24-hour service. I then asked how this was fair since I have absolutely ZERO documentation about there being any fees associated with maintenance. Again, an apology. I asked what good their product was if I didn't have the money to pay and my dog was lost? She said their product was no good. I COMPLETELY AGREE. read more

I am cancelling my policy. Very tricky funny company. We couldn't get any reimbursement out of 1000$ we spent. I waisted lots of time on the phone with the company and they we assuring me that my reimbursement amount is positive. But at the end it finished as 0 dollars reimbursement. Very greedy and tricky insurance company. read more

I just got off the phone with these folks - I called because I have moved and wanted to update my information. They told me my account was "frozen" right now and that I needed to pay to unfreeze it before I can update it! I can't remember the amounts they wanted me to pay because I was too busy picking my jaw up off the floor. So unless I give them a yearly fee (was it $20/year?) my dog has outdated information in their system. This was never mentioned to me when my dog was microchipped, nor when I registered here. Another review mentions that this is a recent(ish) development and wasn't originally the case. For anyone else in my position - don't give them your money. I get that they're a business and they're in it for the income, but it's super shady to hawk your product as being free, then charging for it once your customer is hooked in. SOLUTION: Register your pet with "Found Animals" Microchip registry (google will take you there). It's free now, and it always will be free. read more
If I could give a negative star or two, BELIEVE ME I WOULD. This is a scam, a racket, a scheme. Whatever you call it, it's anything but insurance, unless you're into insuring that your money will be taken, month after month, and there's no way out! Literally. A promotional complimentary month was included in the starter packet from the Humane Society, where I adopted my darling little beagle puppy last year, and which I consider a very reputable society. Nervous about everything with my new little one, I signed up, thinking I would cancel or see where it lead. Biggest mistake of my life, which, happily, means I have a lovely life. Last July, I realized it was still charging $23 or so a month to my VISA check card and promptly tried to reach them. I called, and called, and called, and could never get past "you are in position #2". Yep, that's right, not after hours on speaker phone, so long that the call was disconnected. I've also tried calling the "new plan" line which picked up immediately on several occasions, tried to get in that way, but am ALWAYS effectively hung up on when they transfer me to the most-likely-non-existent-policy-cancellation-line. It has been EIGHT MONTHS of trying, and still unsuccessful. So, in March, I attempted a stop payment with my bank, who oversees the check card. It didn't work--they got through again and it payed out on April 3rd. Today, I tried reaching them again, to no avail--small surprise there! And so I called my bank (again) and explained the situation (again) and have been reimbursed for one month, now working on a formal dispute for the past 8 months with lawyers and the bank itself, who is being very helpful! Furthermore, this incident has caused me to FULLY CANCEL MY VISA CARD forever in hopes that 24 Pet Watch cannot break through into my bank account proper. Let's hope--May 3rd is just around the corner. Otherwise my bank will also lose my business, but that's another matter. So, if you like being scammed or enjoy a good scheme to the tune of $23.90/month (my 2014 rate), then by all means, sign right up. If not, don't get your credit card near them. I'm prepared to pay 3x the legal fees to recoup what I paid them over the last year. And, no, I'm not crazy, I'm effing CRANGRY! Yup, that's crazy angry. At least the lawyer who will represent my case will be remunerated for doing her job, so that's something! Look out 24 Pet Watch, you've no idea what's about to hit you. read more

Several Issues: -Hold times have been as long as 40 minutes when you need to call customer service. The shortest I've waited is 15 minutes. -They do NOT call you back, even if they say they will. You have to be proactive and contact them, even if it means waiting on hold for 40 minutes. -Their payment system, they say, is "down" quite a bit. I was told I would be overnighted a check when I asked to have my premiums refunded due to fraudulent sales practices, and it has been almost a month. -After I canceled service, I told them that they were not authorized to bill my credit card again. Of course, they billed it again. I have yet to receive that refund. Terrible company, in my opinion fraudulent when it comes to insurance. I had questions about what would be covered under my cat's policy if I signed up for the service. The sales rep confirmed that the condition my cat had would be covered, so I bought the policy. Well, a couple months later, I had to file several claims (from repeat visits) on this health condition. The company denied my claim after MONTHS of waiting, though I was guaranteed by the sales rep that it would be covered. I told the company this, they reviewed the sales call, and confirmed that yes, I was given misinformation and was mislead by the sales rep. However, they still refused to cover all but the very first, tiny claim. I am currently so angered by this company that I am contemplating legal action to get my money back, or at the very least, writing a detailed complaint to the BBB. read more
I should've looked on Yelp first for reviews of this so called Pet insurance. I do it for everything else. I didn't think the Humane Society would steer me wrong though. The Humane Society of North Texas gives you this "gift" of insurance on them for a whole month after you adopt an animal from them. I just renewed it after the month. For $48 a month, the insurance will cover everything the Rep said. They are hard to reach for a live person. When you do get someone they are about as clueless as a box of rocks. You get the recording that the system is down all the time. You send in claims by fax, mail, or email. I emailed mine and they say they never got them. After emailing it a dozen times, they finally got them. It takes 30-60 days to complete the claim. They make up shit is as they go as far as what's covered and not. My cat was diagnosed with FIP. First was Uveitis; an eye condition. I got a denial letter saying it wasn't covered and it was pre existing. How is it pre existing? He didn't have it when I got the insurance. The denial letter would state what it did cover. It said All eye conditions excluding Uveitis. Second denial letter for the FIP said it was denied because it wasn't covered, but ALL infectious diseases were. FIP is an infectious disease. Eh, shame on me for not researching. I would not recommend this to anyone. HSNT can keep their "gift" read more

If I could give zero stars or negative stars, I would. We have had two instances where we have had to fight for six months to receive payment for legitimate claims. It seems to be their MO to try and delay or put you off, which is not good business practice. Still fighting for one claim, which they claim is pre-existing DESPITE a written letter from the vet who treated our cat saying that this was not the case. These guys are the pits. Steer well clear. read more

This is a great company! You get lost pet protection when you register your microchip. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I have a regular insurance plan for my dog, but wanted to add the wellness plan to it also, and he let me know that I could make the change at my renewal in November and at that time they can go over the two options of coverage I can pick from. The only thing that I don't like is you have to submit claims yourself, so make sure you keep your receipts. In other words you pay up front and then they reimburse you. I believe the RX pet discount card came from 24 Pet Watch also. I discovered this company when I adopted my rescue dog. read more

Very frustrated dealing with this microchip registrar as it seems that their business is structured to SELL SELL SELL pet insurance and membership dues. I have email communications with 24PetWatch going back to 2008 when a @petcareinsurance.com representative attempted to extort dues from me to conduct an "ownership transfer"--because I adopted my dogs from a rescue and experienced several address changes since then. Ever since, I've noticed they've removed email contact from their website and force you to go the phone call route for any questions and concerns, no doubt to solicit more money from you. Any attempt to update your profile information online results in an error--most likely intentional--which will undoubtedly force some hapless users to call the toll free number and be subjected to fear mongering and sales pitches. I have carefully avoided that route. I'm not against pet insurance, but I do have a problem with a provider that is more interested in selling policies over your pets' healthy and safety. I am saddened to see many shelters and rescues have signed onto 24PetWatch as a provider. There are plenty of free online microchip registries and lookups available these days that I will be populating with my pets' data (e.g. microchipregistry.foundanimals.org). I just got off the phone to cancel my policy and I'm really hoping I'm not one of those who will continue to be billed after the fact. I took my cat to the vet right away when I noticed he was straining uncomfortably in his box, and kept returning to it over and over again in a short amount of time. The vets determined he had Feline Urinary Tract Disease. I put him on antibiotics, changed his diet, and made sure he drank more water. This happened around the end of June. I sent in the claim pretty quickly thereafter, but never heard anything for weeks (which I took for granted since I was told it could take about a month to process). When I finally called to ask what was up, they said they hadn't received the claim. Well, around October, my cat ended up having another issue (a cyst on his rib cage). I took him to the vet, put him on antibiotics again, and then put both claims on the same form, with both copies of the medical bills attached. After sitting on hold forever, and getting the run around on more than one occasion, I finally got a-hold of someone and emailed the documents to him then and there. Later, I got a letter saying I still needed to submit the medical bills (which I had already done), so I emailed this same guy all the forms AGAIN. And I even saw in the previous messages that they were all there before, but somehow this inept guy failed to see them. Several more weeks passed and I still hadn't heard anything. Did the claim really get submitted?! Low and behold, my policy renewed July 1st... and no one bothered to tell me until February that somehow my policy doesn't cover "First Time Illnesses" from the previous coverage period. My claim was denied because I told my vet that my cat had peed outside the box several times when we first got him (two years ago)... and that was considered a preexisting condition. WHAT?!! I got him a bigger box (he's rather long) and he stopped peeing outside the box! Yet that's somehow connected to his UTD. So, I cancelled my policy... it's such a run around, pain in the butt it's barely worth the hassle. I have the option of getting this claim reassessed AGAIN... but then I have to get a note from the vet saying the two conditions are unrelated, somehow I have to prove that the fact he peed outside his too-small box had nothing to do with a UTD, submit the claim and hope it even goes through, and then wait around for them to make a decision... and assume they won't bother to contact ME. But I probably won't because I feel pretty certain it won't make any difference. I do NOT recommend this shady company. read more

I've had 24PetWatch insurance for my cat for over 8 years. I've never filed an insurance claim because fortunately my cat has been very healthy. My rates steadily increased from ~$220 per year to nearly ~$300 per year last year. I didn't think that was a big deal, since my cat is getting older and likely to have more health problems. Then, last month, 24PetWatch sent me a letter stating that my cat's insurance plan has been discontinued. They offered me a comparable plan that now costs $874.20 a year. That's almost three times the cost of the discontinued plan for a similar level of service. Of course, now that my cat is getting on in years they're giving me the shaft. These guys are a bunch of scumbags. Avoid at all costs. read more

Hi Hubert,…
I had this insurance since my little lady was a puppy and it was called PetCare Insurance in approximately 2004. I initially thought it was great. They always promptly processed and reimbursed my claims. In the last few years it was acquired by 24 Pet Watch. Since then, I know that I may or may not get reimbursed and, if I do get reimbursed, it may come after waiting many weeks or maybe even 2 months, and arguing, in order to get reimbursed. I submitted my little lady's final vet bills about 6 weeks ago - they received it 5 weeks ago. She initially had cancer almost 2 years ago, but we treated it and it was, somehow miraculously and by the amazing care of her oncology team, nowhere to be found in her body. Fast forward a year and a half later and my little girl was suddenly having serious renal issues - a UTI gone bad, that ended up causing pancreatitis, acute renal disease, seizure, and ultimately, pneumonia. I had her amazing vets submit the claim - the renal team submitted it because it had nothing to do with her cancer since there was no cancer in her body anymore (they tested it that day and proved there was no cancer). I waited 5 weeks - called almost every week for a status, and they keep saying that it can take 5-6 weeks! Ridiculous! Now they are saying that the acute kidney disease, pancreatitis, seizure, and pneumonia had to do with the cancer and they are not fully reimbursing me. HUH? She had cancer in her tonsil and it was removed almost 18 months earlier and it was nowhere in her body. No connection at all. I asked to speak with a supervisor and, of course, I have to wait 24-48 hours for them to return my call! WHAT?! More time to wait to get my full reimbursement. Not to mention that they would reconsider my claim if I submit a re-assessment from the vet saying that it was not secondary to the cancer and wait MORE time!! Just awful!!! It was bad enough to lose my wonderful lady, and this does not make the process any easier. Shame on you, 24 Pet Watch! read more

If there were am option for 0 stars, I'd give that. Horrible, horrible company. Submitted a claim with everything they said they needed, no one contacted me when it didn't go through. 2 weeks later I called to check the status, they said they were missing information about her adoption....which they never said we needed. I submitted it along with everything else again. 1 week later...missing information....finally figured out what they were missing...confirmed TWICE that they had everything...TWICE they told me it was all good, I have email proof of this. Today I get an email saying they are missing the invoice...even though in my confirmation it specifically says that they have everything including the invoice. This company sucks. They basically want to detain you as long as possible and I'll bet it's because they want to keep your money. I spent over 1000 dollars on an unexpected hospital visit with our dog and I have insurance so I can be covered in those situations. This company is horrible and I will be switching immediately. Would never reccommend. read more

DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE. They have been using delay tactics for two months to avoid paying a $950 claim. They allege they have not received the documents FIVE different times from my vet and myself by fax and by email. Now that they have magically received the documents, they are "too dark" to use, though they are very plainly visible on my computer. Customer service: You'll wait at least 20-40 minutes every time you call. The call-back feature does not work. I waited on hold for 50 minutes to cancel my policies. Then I was told by the cancellation department they couldn't find my account with my account number, that I was missing a digit. THIS IS THE ACCOUNT NUMBER I HAVE USED TO MAKE EVERY PAYMENT AND FILE THE CLAIM I'VE BEEN FIGHTING WITH THEM ABOUT FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, where they have had 99 complaints in the last three years, 17 of which were in the last year alone. STEAR CLEAR OF THESE CROOKS. (PS--After reading that others have had their card billed after canceling the policy, I cancelled my credit card after I cancelled the policy. That's the only way I can reliably ensure they will stop billing me--They have done so much shady crap that I have no doubt they will continue billing my account.) read more

I adopted a dog from a rescue and they installed their microchip.. When I called to activate it it was $21.00 a year or $59. For life time.. So I did life time.. Really Home again is only $17.00 for a life time.. That is a $42.00 dollar mark up or you can look at it as 200% higher than Home Again.. And I forgot to mention I was told I could only register the chip with them!! They lied!! And I fell for it.. Pet key can register over 21 different companies and have all the same stuff 24pet key does.. I now know.. And you can see with all of their complaints.. If I owned that company I would be embarrassed.. But I'm sure they won't be in business very long.. They are obviously scammers read more

I had them for 10 years but of course my dogs did not start having major issues until their golden years. I changed to a different plan with them in 2015 after speaking to an agent who reassured me that preexisting conditions were not precluded from the new policy. For 2015, they were not excluded and (albeit you had to jump through hoops and wait 3-4 months for payment) they eventually paid. This year 2016 they are refusing to honor my claim for refills For my dog's arthritis that they previously paid for and said that they do not pay for pre-existing conditions and said that musculo-skeletal degenerative disease was not going to be paid. I can have it Re-reviewed with a letter from my vet, again with all the attachments that I already sent in. Arthritis - from looking on the net - arthritis in an old dog seems like a degenerative joint disease, but they said it was not. they said that it will not be paid because my old policy with them had that exclusion. On another note, Let us see if they reject my newest claim for my eldest dog that died of a musculoskeletal degenerative disease in 03/2016. Lukasz - save your rhetoric and look at all the recent posts - pattern is obvious - your company should be working on improving operations and client relations. The only reason I stayed with the company is the reassurance that pre existing conditions would be covered when I switched to a higher policy. Awaiting for the outcome on this. If not paid - why stay? Like almost all the other posts - I wish I could give them a negative number. read more

Worse than human insurance companies. Do not even waste your time registering for your free trial through adoption agencies. tl;dr 1. Nothing will be covered 2. You'll never get ahold of someone to cancel your plan. The whole point of the Humane Society giving you this insurance is so that if something happens to a newly adopted pet, they'll cover it. HOWEVER, there is an illness WAITING period of 3 weeks. So of course when my kitten got sick and had to be hospitalized after a neutering complication it was NOT COVERED AT ALL. So when I went to cancel this god-awful plan there is nowhere online to cancel it and I was on hold for 30+ minutes and told someone will "call me back." Basically, this is all a scheme to make you give up and keep the insurance and they'll never cover anything and you'll just be robbed. Glad I came on here to see where I could register the microchips FOR FREE. https://www.freepetchipregistry.com https://www.foundanimals.org/ read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY!! To make an obnoxiously long story short(ish)-- I got a free month of coverage w/this company when I adopted my cat. During that time he developed Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease. It cost about $450 in emergency vet and medicine fees, which miraculously 24PetWatch covered! It was a huge relief. At the end of the month, I signed up for a regular policy which cost about $21/month. Fast forward a year. My cat's FLUTD flared up again, and this time the company wouldn't cover it. They claimed that it was a pre-existing condition since the first time it happened was during the free gift insurance provided by... THEIR COMPANY! I've paid for an entire year of coverage only to find out now that they will never cover his condition again (the only health problem he has). Additionally, they've made sure I can't get it covered by any other insurance company since they covered it the first time (establishing that it was preexisting). I can't believe how this company is willing to screw people over to save a little money. When I called in to ask why my claim was denied, I spoke to a woman named Patricia who was incredibly condescending and rude. She said that a pet is considered 'property' and she compared my pet insurance to car insurance. I do realize that in the eyes of the law pets are considered property but REALLY? You're going to make me feel better by repeatedly comparing my beloved cat to an OLD CAR? On top of that, they don't cover any preventative care. When I told her I didn't see that anywhere in my policy she said there's a note on the policy to check their website for restrictions. I asked if the law allowed them not to disclose the restrictions on their policies and she rudely told me that they DO disclose them (in the form of a tiny line saying, 'also go to our website for other restrictions'). Then she patronizingly lectured me for not knowing the ins and outs of my policy, reminding me AGAIN that your car insurance won't pay for a broken transmission which could have been avoided by regular oil changes. The moral being that 24PetWatch won't pay for health problems that could have been avoided by regular vet visits.. that they don't pay for. If you want to retain any degree of sanity (I'm clearly losing mine as I write this) STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY!!! read more

I have had nothing but good experience with 24 PetWatch. My 11 year old Springer Spaniel has been covered with their insurance for 7-8 years and has had two surgeries which they reimbursed without hassle. (Poor 24 PetWatch, they had paid me out way more than I have paid in.) The customer service has been great and people were always very kind. For what it is worth -- I have never been transferred to India. Most of the people I have spoken with have been Canadian or had a very Northern (Minnesota-ish) accent. They even have this automated phone system that calls you when they have received your claim and when the check has been sent. I recommend them to all the dog owners in my family and let my vet know how pleased I am with their service. I am so grateful I invested in this insurance when my dog was young. I took out insurance for my recently adopted dog through 24 PetWatch and I cannot recommend them for any services. Please, take your business elsewhere. I took my dog to the emergency vet and have found it nearly impossible to submit my claim. Emails were never returned, I waited at least 15 mins each time I called them and was usually put on hold many times once I finally spoke with someone. 24PetWatch insisted that I get the treating vet to fill out sections of the claim form, which is near impossible in my case. The emergency vet clinic where I took my dog is 45 miles from my house, and the treating vet only works there occasionally. I emailed and called 24PetWatch many times to find a solution but they kept stonewalling me. Once, they thought they put me on hold while the rep went to "speak with her manager," but the line was still active. I overhear the rep say that she only had to give me the run around for four more days because then my 30 day claim period would have expired. I will never give them my business again and you should not either. I am lobbying the local Humane Society shelter to cease association with this dishonest company that doesn't care about your pets. They just want to make a buck and will go out of their way to avoid paying out a legitimate claim. UPDATE (13 October 2014) When I called to cancel my policy with 24PetWatch I got the expected run around right out of the Comcast playbook. They tried to delay me and offered different services, but their final act of desperation was disgusting. The rep said if I didn't keep my 24PetWatch insurance my dog would not receive "life saving treatment." This sales approach is what I expect from a used car dealership, and not a professional insurance company. read more

Update: PetPlan is AMAZING. We bought an 80% coverage plan with a $200 deductible, and then our poor dog ended up having a TON of medical problems the next month. PetPlan came through way beyond the extent I was expecting, and I will love them for forever. We ended up saving a few thousand dollars because of them, and our first thought (after "omigod thank you pet insurance gods") was how much worse off we would have been had we stayed with 24PetWatch. Pet insurance in general seems like a very difficult subject to navigate, so I can't promise that everyone's experience with PetPlan will be as good as ours, but in our case, there's no way I'd ever change pet insurance providers from the one we've got now. Also, our dog is completely fine now, as I sort of left that on a cliffhanger. read more

I would just like to say, look at all the horrible reviews this company has gotten in the past month alone, let alone a year. If I could give this negative 100 stars, I would. I am not even going to explain what happened. It's been said by everyone else who went through what I did on here. I'm just writing this so Lukas or some other company representative will respond. I DARE HIM. Just know, everyone who works there: I am disabled. I have a brain injury. My dog is a service dog in-training. He prevents me from self-harm, he helps me walk, he helps me with so many things. He gives me a reason to live. I was just trying to take care of him the best I could in case anything horrible happened to him like what happened to me. Instead, I was already living in poverty due to my disability, and now I am out even more money. I just want people who work there to know that when they try to sleep at night. These are not just people's pets that they thought would be fun to have. They are family members and MEDICAL EQUIPMENT that saves their life. So there's your daily dose of shame. My lifesaver has no insurance now. To kick me while I was down, ERIK, who worked there, was put on the phone with me after the rep I talked to cancelled my plan. He had no plan in talking to me. He didn't even try to convince me to stay. What was the point in talking to me? It was idiotic. He told me to not use curse words. Was he there to shame me? I'm sorry, I'm an adult and I have freedom of speech, and I am the customer you fucked over. I can use whatever words I want as long as I am not abusing the staff, which I was not; I taught abuse intervention for a living, I know what it is. read more

This service is terrible. I have been a customer since October, paying $45 a month, thinking i am going to be able to claim my dog's vet appointments. it seems as if every time i try to submit a claim, they say they will fix the problem, and nothing seems to get done past that. The only thing i have received from this company are survey links. Which, the customer service reps seem nice over the phone. But, I want what i call for to be resolved. My 8 week old adopted puppy came with a "free" microchip from 24 Pet Watch, which at the time, I thought was a nice benefit. I registered for the free service. About a year an a half later, I moved and needed to update my dog's contact information (phone and address) in the database. I was able to log into the system only to find out that I need to pay an annual free (about $20) or a lifetime fee (about $60) to update any of my dog's info. I called the company and after 20 minutes on hold the representative told me that she could not update my contact info unless a paid the fee. Plain and simple, this is a racket. They get these chips implanted in poor shelter dogs and then don't let the person that adopts the dog update their contact information in order for the dog to be found (isn't this what the chip is for??). It would be very bad for the dog to try to remove the chip and you can't really put in another chip, so you're pretty much stuck paying their fee. If you are a shelter or adoption network, please consider a different chip provider - this company doesn't care about dogs getting back to their owners if lost. If you are considering putting in a 24PetWatch chip on your pet, I'd look at other options like Avid or HomeAgain (HomeAgain will at least update contact info if you call them and I think Avid has a MUCH lower fee to update contact info). If you already have a pet with a 24PetWatch chip, I'm sorry! read more

Don't bother! I'd give them 0 stars if possible. They bothered my veterinarian for medical records that I had already submitted twice. Then denied the claim for lack of shelter records that they didn't request. Just typical delay deny insurance scam. read more

Would give 0 stars if possible. Can't call them without being put on terminal hold. They do not tell you upfront that you will be charged a maintenance fee yearly to keep your information updated and available. If you do not choose to use their $18 yearly fee, you can opt for $50 for lifetime of pet fee. These are charges that other pet microchip companies do not charge. Ask questions, research! This is a total waste of money and time. Your pets are not safe in this program. I tried to search their database online for my pets using their chip numbers, and they were not found. Having a. This is the Absolute WORST company. I would give them 0 stars if I could. I have faxed the same receipts over and over again and they claim they never get them. This is a habitual problem, I am NOT exaggerating. I am so sick of these people. When I add up the cost of my time dealing with these people, faxing and bothering my vet. I may as well pay the vet bill as my time adds up to more than the bill ! I am finally canceling and going with Trupanion. read more

DO NOT INSURE WITH THIS HORRENDOUS COMPANY. I had all the information for my newly adopted cat and they wouldn't even cover a copay, atter that I attempted emails and phone calls to cancel with no response. WARNING! You MUST pay monthly charges for this ID system. It is PER PET MICROCHIPPED! If you do not pay the $17-$50 charges, you can not update any information. You will NOT be informed when it is about to be canceled. I was NEVER informed there was a monthly fee, were you? It is useless unless you are NEVER going to move or change your phone number, unless you wish to pay the fees. For me, it will cost $250 to change the address on my pets. read more

I received a free trial to this from the rescue that I got my kittens from. the coverage wasn't worth continuing it so I went to cancel the following month. Little did I know that you can't cancel it from your online account. This resulted in me being charged because they were closed when I tried to call. I called the next business day after I was charged and they refused to refund me and only said they can have it cancel after the end of the current billing cycle. Worst company ever. They have no problem taking your monthly payments. But when you file a claim , they make it impossible to get approved. I spent a month and over twenty emails trying to supply them with all they needed for the claim. In the end they denied it. DO NOT USE 24petwatch. Run from this company !!!! read more

i'm on the border between 4 and 5 stars. By the time i finish writing this i'll probably decide. i first got this health insurance in the early 90s, around 1993 because it was the first year i had my cat and i saw an ad for pet health insurance in the LA Times Sunday magazine for it and liked the idea. i don't know how many changes in the company there were over those years, there were some name changes. i don't remember the premium, it didn't bother me. i first used it when my cat was getting older, she was about 15 when she was diagnosed with hyperthyroid. She was successfully treated with a medication that she took the rest of her life. She lived to be 20. I got my dog in early 2006, signed him up with the insurance when he was 5 months old, there was a 30 day waiting period before it went into effect. Because of a mistaken serious diagnosis by an inexperienced ER vet, my dog started out with a permanently excluded pre-existing condition and it was hard to get that cleared up but eventually it did get cleared up and the exclusion was removed. That is important because it was for my puppy's heart and the most important reason for getting the insurance for him was that his breed, cavalier king charles, has a high incidence of mitral valve disease at some point in their lives, i really needed insurance in case he got it, and he was pretty certain to get it, it varies how old they are when they get it, he didn't need treatment until he was almost 13, so he never cost the insurance company much before that. He was extremely healthy, still is, so that although he went into heart failure last year and there have been a lot of cardiologist appointments and procedures, he's better than most dogs who have MVD at his age. He has not been to his regular vet in just under a year, and before that, he hadn't been to the regular vet in 3 years, and hardly ever before that. He hasn't been terribly expensive for the insurance company, but definitely it's on the gradual increase. His prognosis is that he's not going to live very long, not possible to say, but i think under a year from what i read. i always liked the insurance, for my dog i had the Quick Care Gold Triple Coverage Plan, the premium was pretty high, went up steeply toward the end when the new underwriter took over. Then they got rid of the plan altogether. Over the years i had overall great customer support on the phone. Many reviews say that their emails went unanswered. i wouldn't even bother with email, they're available on the phone and easy to reach, i did find pressing extension #4 got smarter reps than the one specific to why i was calling (#4 is for general customer service questions or something like that). i have felt personally cared about which was shown in various ways. No claim has ever been denied, no part of a claim has been denied. If i want email documentation of a phone call, i ask them to send me one, summarizing what was discussed. The change to the new underwriter was traumatic and painful, i'm paying a lot more now, but still really glad to have it, i struggled with which plan to choose, they would give me deadlines to let them know by and i wouldn't be able to decide, all bad choices in terms of affordability and no way his only illness would be covered by anyone else. if they were going to cancel somebody, i gave them reason to cancel me. when i finally did make my choice, i was past the ultimate deadline and very worried about that, a representative followed up on it personally with his supervisor, took my number to call me back because i was supposed to be canceled and documented that my policy was renewed in email. i know when they made this change, the CS reps listened to a lot of pain and grief and anger expressed by customers, it wasn't in their power, that was clear enough but in my case they did a good job of communicating sympathy. My dog was already diagnosed with mitral valve disease and was having periodic cardio evaluations during the years before the new underwriter (Praetorian?) took over, and the prognosis was well known for mitral valve disease, especially for his breed, most of them die from it. When i first got my dog i called them and asked about it and was told yes, we cover that. That has turned out to be true. When i gave them reason to cancel me, they didn't. Since then, their new online claims thing started and i do love that, though it's had glitches but i appreciate that those are being fixed, only about one left now. Processing is lightening fast, my last claim, earlier this month was paid one week after i filed it, payment sent electronically to my bank account. This reduces the stress of having a sick baby, appreciated. 5 stars. read more

watch out! claims seem to disappear into thin air when submitted to 24petwatch and you end up waiting for a long time before anything gets processed. they say 25-30 days is the average wait time but it turns out to be months and months before anything even gets started on. and be prepared to love redundancy because you will have to submit the same claim more than twice. i got my pet insurance with petcare 11 years ago and they used to be really good. if there was ever an issue of anything missing, they would follow up with the vet that sent in the claim to get the missing information. unfortunately this has changed. ever since it switched to 24petwatch, the "care" was not just dropped from the name but from the service itself. it's sad to see a good service turn bad. i used to have no issues with claims but now after reading previous reviews, i am seeing that there is a pattern: - they claim that information is always missing therefore the claim is rejected and you end up waiting for nothing unless you call to follow up only to find out that nothing has been processed. -they say they notify you via e-mail if a claim is rejected due to missing info. -there is never an e-mail notification received from them. -when you call the claims department, you are greeted by an apathetic person who just keeps repeating the same useless information. that your claim was not processed due to missing info. -all they can tell you about your rejected claim is the service date. not the amount of the claim, not the name of the clinic you went to, and not even what was missing. they apparently delete all the details as soon as a claim is rejected so now you have to figure out which vet it was that you visited a month ago. and if you had to go to several ones, then you have to do a lot of searching. -when you ask to speak to a supervisor or manager, you are told that no one is available and that they will get them to call you back in 24-48 hours. - these past 2 months i had to go to 5 different veterinarians, some of them specialists. there were 8 different claims from 8 different vet visits submitted by 5 different receptionists. apparently none of them were received. how is that even possible? are all of these clinics suddenly incompetent? the only common factor in this equation is 24petwatch. seriously sad to see that this is what the service has gone down to...majorly downhill. i have never been so upset as to write a bad review for any business in the past but this has been a repetitive thing and i felt the need to warn others about this. i really hope you bring the good service back. read more

This company seeks to take advantage of people who adopt pets from their local Humane Society, which is disgusting. I was given 30 days of free insurance with the adoption and received an email saying I could get 15 additional free days if I called in. When I called, the rep I spoke to asked if I wanted to "reserve" a spot to extend my dog's insurance when the 45 days were up. I said no thank you. He said reserving a spot did NOT place me under contract and that there was no obligation to actually buy the insurance. He said the point of reserving was to ensure that if I did decide to buy the insurance, I could, because the dog would become ineligible for coverage should the vet find any health issues at the free vet visit you get when you adopt with the Humane Society. He acted very interested in hearing about me and my new dog, asking all kinds of questions about how she's adjusting to her new home, presumably to make it seem like 24PetWatch really cares about animals. I made him repeat to me TWICE that reserving a spot did not place me under obligation to purchase the insurance. He said no, there was not any contract involved. He then said he needed a card number on file to make the reservation, even though I was under no obligations at that time. A month and a half later, I received a stack of papers in the mail from the company, and the very first page read, "This document is evidence of a CONTRACT between the Insured and the Insurer." It said my coverage was scheduled to begin in 3 days, at which time, I would be billed my premium. Luckily 24 PetWatch takes calls on Saturdays because the letter arrived on a Friday. Had it arrived one day later, I may not have been able to call in time to cancel the policy since they're closed on Sundays. The guy I spoke to said he cancelled the policy, and I would not be billed. I never should have been scheduled to be billed to begin with! I went to the bank to cancel my card to be safe after reading the horrific online reviews this company has received. I certainly can't trust that a company that insists I'm not under contract and then mails me a contract will not fraudulently charge my debit card. Now I get to wait 7-10 days for my new card. All because I adopted a dog who was dropped off at a shelter by her owners of 9 years. read more

I own 7 pets and insured all with pet watch, paid my monthly always worrying about the what if? Over the years I had 4 claims, not one was paid out. Our female dog had an internal infection, Claim not paid, why? They will not insure a dog for any female problems if they're Not spayed. Our Male dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur, tests not covered, procedures not covered, meds not covered. Remainder is 75% coverage, minus 300.00. My claim payout Big Fat Zero! Now my 12 yr. old cat is diagnosed with diabetes. Cost me 900. All my pets were very healthy. Nothing other than usual regular yearly check up and shots. Insurance company wants an extensive medical report. My vet submitted it and apparently it's not extensive enough. My vet is fed up. I've continue to pay $128.00 per month for her. Now that I needed help, they giving me the runaround. My vet is fed up, he doesn't know what else they want. The initial claim was 899.00 submitted 5 months ago, the deductible is 300.00, The vet charged me 75.00 for the reports. I paid out 500.00 in fees insurance since I submitted the claim. Out of pocket 1500.00 between initial claim and money I've continued to pay out since. WHAT A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Save your money. Open up a pet account, put away monthly what you can afford and you'll have it when you needed. The aggravation of knowing that for years I paid out money for the emergency and every single time NOTHING. I'm so furious and disgusted with myself for continuing to pay for BULL::::::::::: Insurance. read more

I don't know about this company for pet insurance, so I want to say upfront that my rating has nothing to do with pet insurance. It has to do with the microchip. I want to start by saying, that if you cannot afford $49.95 for this service then maybe you should rethink having a pet. They are providing a locating service. This requires hiring people and, yes, paying them. In other words, if you want to use this service. you need to pay for it. I would like to laugh at the individuals who give poor ratings because this company charges a fee of $49.95 for the LIFETIME of your pet. This is a company who relies on profits to continue. It is ridiculous and laughable for anyone to think that this company can provide this service for free. Yes, you have to pay to have your vet pay to put in the microchip. However, you are paying this to the vet and NOT to 24 hr pet watch. ALL companies that do this service charge. All vets who microchip charge. Why would anyone believe that you should get this for free is quite laughable. If you cannot afford $49.95 for the life of your pet for this very valuable service, then most likely you cannot afford to have a pet in the first place. Grow up! Life is not free and neither is your pet. read more

ZERO STARS ZERO STARS ZERO STARS! Shame on you 24 Pet Watch! Hiding a fee and refusing to update basic, yet critical information until this fee is paid? What does that pay for anyway, the salary of an employee who only pretends to update your information when you call it in? When someone finds a pet the first thing they look for is the phone number. The resulting phone call brings instant piece to a frantic owner of a lost family member. Without it, owner and pet may never be reunited. All for the want of a dollar by a greedy, useless company! In this economy to boot, surely there are plenty of people who couldn't pay that fee if they wanted to. Shame! Shame! Shame! I can't speak for the insurance at 24 Pet Watch but I'd say their microchip service speaks volumes. As a Petplan member for many years I've had nothing but excellent service and can recommend them with great confidence. There are plenty of other registries out there that will accept your pet's microchip #, some require fees and some never do. The ones I've seen thus far that do charge are up front about any costs to you, unlike 24 Pet Watch. A quick search will give you plenty of alternatives to look into for yourself. read more

We have been using 24 PetWatch for close to 20 years. We have always been taken care of by agents who really do care about animals and understands how upsetting it can be for us, the pet's human companions, when our pet is sick and needs a great deal of help. As an example, our beloved Oriental Shorthair was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. He needed a huge amount of veterinary care from time to time, requiring hospital overnight stays, and the cost of his care was extremely high. Fortunately, we had chosen the Champion care policy which helped us so much to be able to give our kitty the help he needed. Payment was prompt and the support we received helped to give our kitty a the chance to continue a good quality of life having the coverage that made that possible. I trust that 24 Pet Watch cares for us and our pets. This company offers an excellent range of insurance coverage . I am very glad that I chose 24 Pet Watch as our insurance provider and I highly recommend this company. read more

Awful, awful, awful, if you do not want to lose your money, stay away from their insurance. They turned down my dog's claims saying they were due to her pre-existing condition. She had a stomach problem, got treated, recovered, all happened several months ago before I owned her. Dogfood fed before me was a different brand, so she had a tummy problem again - not a big deal, but for them, suddenly it's a serious pre-existing condition. Even my vet was shocked how greedy they're. I made a protest (and they make sure the protesting process is lengthy and difficult) If you try to talk to a customer rep, you're on hold for good 30 min. and there's no guarantee someone will answer. If someone takes your call, you're lucky. Frankly, I feel so much better if I just cancel my membership and switch her insurance company. What they claim they cover is "if you're lucky"! Make sure they won't come up with any slimy excuse to turn down your claim. I won't ever consider their service again. read more

I have had 24Petwatch insurance for all my pets for 4 years. I decided on insurance the day one of my dogs died. At the time, I did not have insurance and she had cancer twice. Her treatment bills were outstanding. I decided that day to insure all my pets and made the phone call. I currently have 3 dogs and 2 cats. I feel confident they will cover my claims quickly and professionally. The pet portal makes it so easy. I have one dog with congestive heart failure and the bills are substantial. This peace of mind is something you can't really imagine until you have a sick pet. Having to decide whether you can afford lifesaving treatment without insurance would keep me up at night. I suggest to all my friends to get insurance before a condition is preexisting. I have given out 24PW phone number to many friends and to people at my vets office. 24PW turns around claims quickly and I receive my checks before the credit card bill comes in. Thank 24Petwatch. read more

I can say this company is a crock of bull... I bought my policy and paid a years worth of coverage to only find out six months later that they wouldn't cover my cat's diabetes. My cat showed symptoms of something was wrong on two days prior to the policy affective date which was noted on the vets paperwork. So since I was being a good pet parent and telling my vet the truth to ensure that my pet got the best care I got denied coverage. My mind you my cat never showed any signs of diabetes before me taking him to the vet on that day nor was he ever diagnose with it before. So I guess I am suppose to be some kinda Vet and know automatically that my cat has diabetes. GREAT JOB 24 PetWatch you just condemned my cat to a slow painful death! I adopted a miniature poodle from a shelter. At the age of two, he developed bilateral cataracts. Fortunately, I had chosen to keep the insurance offered at the shelter. My puppy had cataract surgery in 2016. He requires follow-up and maintenance for the rest of his life. He's four. 24 hour petwatch has always paid on this claim (and allergy shots as well as sick visits) in a timely manner. In fact, my identity was stolen and I didn't remember that the card stolen was cancelled. When I called 24 pet watch, even though my premium was late, they continued to honor our policy. I really can't say enough about how great their customer service is. I filed many claims and they've never lost one. Thank you 24 hour pet watch. Insurance is great when you need it, and I need it now. Well worth the cost considering I'm literally filing a claim every week for what could be a year more. I have not had any issues with customer service, in fact, everyone has been really nice and I got help when needed, questions answered, and had my name on my account updated without issue. I'm sad to see the other ratings. I think you also have to cut people a break considering the pandemic. Lots of things have had to change and it takes time to work out the kinks when companies shift dramatically. I can assure you this company is not a scan or terrible. People are just lacking in patiences these days I think. Thank you 24PetWatch for your great service. read more

Our dog just recently bolted after a deer and became missing in action. My wife and I could not find our little dude. It was not like our little fur ball not to return right away, since he is very well trained. I knew that there could only be two outcomes, either he was dead on the side of a road or someone took him in for the night. After an entire night and morning of searching, My Pet Health/ 24 Pet Watch notified us that a kind person had our fur ball and that we could be reunited. The rescuer took our dog to the local vet where they scanned the microchip and got our contact info. I highly recommend this company for microchipping your pet. We are so grateful. We have had experiences with other pet insurance companies but have absolutely no complaints with 24PetWatch. I am very pleased with the quality and responsiveness of their customer support and claim settlement process. One example I would like to share is a positive insurance claim reassessment after the 180 day limit for filing claims. I realized, after the deadline, that our veterinarian had mistakenly given an incorrect timeline, in his medical notes, giving rise to a medical per-condition exclusion. I wrote to the 24PetWatch underwriter and provided them further clarification on the matter and they promptly approved the claim, even after the claim filing deadline. read more

I've had a policy since my dog was a puppy (~8 years). They are great! Especially their claims portal- so easy to file a claim and they turn around reimbursement pretty quickly via direct deposit into my bank account. Also, if I ever have questions their customer service agents are very friendly and (more importantly) helpful. The policy pay for themselves if your pet ever has an issue (I certainly don't with that) but the peace of mind is well worth the cost. I can attest to this as my fur baby is in great health but has had a few ACL's and copper storage disease treatment (she is good now). Aging- highly recommended :-) read more

Can not stress enough on how important it is to get insurance for our fur babies! Had my one cat fracture her arm, was in the hospital for 3 days (needed an operation). My boy cat got so stressed without his sister, got urinary obstruction, got it a second time and last had to get operated. They've always seem to have urinary issues due to stress (have a one year old, he is a little terror). I would of been done if I did not have insurance. 24PetWatch is super quick and understanding. I'm amazed that Purina sold them all of their contracts - talk about stabbing their customers in the back!
