I was walking around Alhambra on a Wednesday, trying to figure out where to eat. I walked by this place and heard they had a live band playing, so I decided to walk in. We ended up staying because the band was so good, the band by the way, is call Steel Rod. Our waitress Mandy was very attentive and nice. We ordered the wings and empanadas and I highly recommend both dishes. The green sauce that came with the empanadas is so good I took some home. I definitely will come back to try more stuff on the menu, while I enjoy the atmosphere. Must stop place in Alhambra. read more

Super fun crowd here! Came in for a few drinks with the hubby and a friend before dinner. I love that they have a happy hour on Sunday. We ordered the calamari, the aioli that it comes with is awesome and the calamari was cooked perfectly, but it was a little on the salty side. I loved the Stella Cider I had, it was super refreshing. My friend was able to convince me to take a Pickleback (shot of whiskey followed by a shot of pickle juice). First off, I hate, hate, HATE pickles; so it is a miracle that I actually drank this. But she was right, the pickle juice clears out any residual taste of the whiskey.... I doubt I would do it again but it was definitely worth a shot. When we left we saw a plate of the Carne Asada Fries, which looked amazing! So we will definitely be coming back to try those out soon! Street parking is a bit of a pain here, but there is a free parking structure on 1st Street. read more

Very friendly service and great drinks, particularly the Jalapeño Margarita! I also love all the screens for game watching--even a super large one in the lounge area. However, I haven't stayed to eat for a long time, because of the volume of the music. It's inconsistent, in that you can come in and it's fine, then all of a sudden you can't hold a conversation anymore without yelling. Tonight was my first time at 28 West. My boyfriend and I wanted watch the McGregor/ Diaz fight, but weren't sure where. Since we live down the street, we figured we would give it a go. It was a $15 cover charge- whatever, not bad. Better than paying for the fight ourselves. I was sat in the lounge area, which was actually really comfortable. The security guy was really nice. We came here to kick off my sister's 21st birthday celebration before she headed out with her friends. Apparently we just missed happy hour (5-8pm), but we just came so she could choose any poison. After taking a seat at the bar, we were quickly tended to. The bar tender came and explained it was Whiskey Wednesday. This entailed $2 dollars off any whiskey or $4 dollar Jack Daniels ( I could be totally wrong). Man, those shots were not single shots. They were like DOUBLE. Quick buzz for sure. The bartender made my sister's day special by giving her a chocolate cake shot (no actual cake involved in the drink). Super sweet of her. On top of that, let us try shots of pineapple upside down cake shot. Interesting and creeper status drinks. Great bar service. She knew when to come back to get us more shots and was really easy to talk to. 28 West has a lot of seating and TVs all around. This place would be great to watch games or anytime you need a drink. Relatively EMPTY on a Friday night in comparison to the other bars nearby. Good amount of seating space. DJ in the corner. I went to 28 west for a school christmas get together. It was very clean and staff were extremely friendly. The drinks were loaded with a generous amount of alcohol for those of you that enjoy drinking. My husband and I came here for happy hour. The happy hour prices were pretty high. We ordered the happy hour buffalo wings and they were BURNT. We asked the waitress if the regular sandwich items come with fries because it did not specify on the menu. She replied "no they don't". So we ordered the happy hour seasoned fries. When our food came out...it came with FRIES. I don't know if she did not hear us because of the blasting music or what. Our order consisted of the Torta Sandwich and the Cuban sandwich. This is DEFINITELY my go to sports bar. Before I found this place I would drive all the way out to the beautiful South Bay to watch a fight. Glad I found 28 West. The owner is super sweet and friendly. I support her business fully :-) Even more awesome, I can always count on them to have any kind of fight showing on the big screen.. Glory, bellator, ufc, invicta, all of em! They're sound system is top notch and i can count on the dj to play a good set! Also, the food is impressively fresh. Not the gross fried stale type. Soooo....I've been coming here for happy hour with my girls for over two year, and I've realized that their service here has gone down hill. Twice in a row, we've ordered well drinks and they taste like juice, when we brought it to their attention, they wanted to charge us for an extra shot. The waitress just smiled and we explained again it is juice then we asked to take it back. After who we think is a manager actually took care of it. I understand that happy hour doesn't mean that the drinks will be strong with alcohol but they should make an attempt to have some alcohol taste. Another time I paid cash and didn't get my change, I guess the waitress assumed that was her tip and kept it. I think we will be looking for a new happy hour location with better service. read more

Anytime you go to a popular sports bar you should always expect a wait time for drinks/food and a lot of commotion. That's what makes a successful sports bar a successful sports bar and it's almost impossible to avoid that. So expect those things here at 28 West. But on top of all that a couple things you can always expect here are great quality drinks, amazing beer selection, fun staff and delicious food. I'm not really into cocktails or mixed drinks but if a drink is recommended to me every once in a while I'll try it out, and I can say that every single cocktail/mixed drink that has been recommended to me by their staff or friends has been superb. They definitely don't allow rookies behind their bar. The beer selection is always rotating and never lacks diversity. I'm big on stouts and always have trouble finding places with a stout variety but 28 west always has a couple of choices for me. As far as the food is concerned I have 3 recommendations: 1. Green Day pizza 2. Shrimp tacos (salsa is amazing) 3. Jack Daniels burger (medium rare, upgrade the fries to bacon cheese fries). If I can recommend a day to come by and really get an intimate experience of this place I would say to check it out on a Sunday. It will be a little slower so you can get to know the staff. Also, the kitchen and bartenders will have more than enough time to really focus on your food and drinks. There's a million TVs so don't worry about missing any sports. read more

I hosted my sister's baby shower here, which was the first private party since 28West opened. I received countless compliments about how nice everything turned out; how beautiful the inside of the restaurant is, the atmosphere was intimate yet comfortable and the food/drinks were on point. The wait staff did an amazing job taking care of all my guests and their needs. I'm very appreciative of everyone's hard work and attention to detail. Places had really bad food a group of us went to the bar to catch a game with some food and beer. We all ordered the same plate and each plate was made different some were good and some were nasty as heck. Some plates had cheese Some didn't and some had sauce and others didn't. Idk if the cook didn't know how to make it or was coming up with stuff. The service is just as horrible at the kitchen. I wasn't a fan of yelping but I go out and spend so much time at different bars that I thought it was only right to give my opinion on the many spots, I visit. I don't want to sound to harsh but here it is. This venue is nice inside as far as the décor and look of the bar with all the neon lights but I was here last Thursday and made it in time for happy hour that was great what wasn't so great was the bartender- the young lady with the black hair and black eye makeup wasn't a friendly person. I felt unwelcomed almost like I was bothering her when I asked for another beer. After a stressful day at work no one wants to sit at a bar and feel more stress just to order another beer. So after my 3rd beer I decided to just pay and go. Like in any business customer service is key and when you lack that customers won't become regulars. I work for a local company. I want to like this place and maybe have some work events here mainly for the location and look of the place but I'm not bringing any of my coworkers here until maybe I get better costumer service or find a new spot to plan such events. I will probably try this spot out again and see if I have a better experience or a better bartender. read more

So this was a dope spot to come to until the security guard felt the need to put his hands on me! Came here one Saturday night for my cousins birthday Celebration. Was a good time. Then the dj started to get on the Mic and chant raiders. So on SUNDAYS this is a full blown raider bar cool whatever. But im a Dallas fan so i chanted back Dallas. Apparently the security guard did not like that, he came over to me and was about to whisper something in my ear, but before he could i chanted out Dallas again and I believe that annoyed him so he then proceeded to grab my drink out of my hand and then pulled my left arm down as if to try to bring me to the floor! Luckily he didn't succeed in doing so. My family all then surrounded him getting me out of the way, and he then started to shout F*** that F*** that. As if he did nothing wrong. I have the whole thing on video, i was not bothering anyone nor did i act out! He had no right to be soo aggressive with me as he did! I then called and left messages for the owner, Rich I believe his name is to return my call in regards to this incident, nope never heard a word. So beware of the African american security guard there before you choose to go against there very own raiders football team, apparently he feels the need to put his hands on people let alone a female who has a different opinion. read more
