The Belly Buster Sandwich, Fried Chicken Sandwich

The Chicken Koop has an old classic feel to it, but in reality its only been around on Main Street for a few years. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by music and friendly smiles from the employees. I want to highlight that our service was absolutely out of this world, and that I would most likely come back just for that. I'm not a super big fan of fried chicken sandwiches, but I was feeling really indulgent, so I gravitated to The Chicken Koop. I will say that the chipotle fries are super tasty and a great option! The Belly Buster lives up to its name, I felt like I was going to explode it was so much food. The fried chicken sandwich is tasty, and there is multiple options for flavors and rubs! I think The Chicken Koop is a great spot for your next lunch or dinner experience! I would recommend you stop by and give it a try! Overall, The Chicken Koop gets a 7.7/10! Not my style of food, but definitely see the appeal! And the service was great!!!

Came on Easter Sunday around 4pm with my wife. We sat at the bar and service was great. Turns out they have all day happy hour on Sundays where Margaritas are $7, Mojitas $8, and Modelo on draft is $5 each. For 6 drinks (2 mojitos, 1 margarita, 1 michelada, 1 modelo, and 1 tequila sour) our bill came out to just $58 before tip. The bartender "Angel" was great always made sure we were good and remembered our preferences. Music was bumping, good music playing and speakers were actually decent. We asked Angel to put on the Laker game and he gladly did. Would def come back for their happy hour in the future!

Came here to celebrate my bday with some friends on a Friday night. Made a reservation as I know that they can get quite busy from what I've heard. The restaurant has plenty of spacious seating, cool decor and colorful lights that set up a great environment. Our waitress was super friendly and answered all our questions regarding the menu. We shared a pitcher of their mango flavored margarita and it was so delicious. Perfectly sweet without going overboard and the balance to tequila and base was perfect. The Tajín rim with chamoy was also a great pairing to the drink with the tartness I love so much. Our table ordered an array of food from their waffle chicken sandwich, spicy chicken sandwich, sliders, taquitos and fries. The chicken was juicy and my oh my what a crunch on those sandwiches! The toppings, sauces, and sides all complimented the mains very well and left us all satisfied. I was gifted a shot for my bday which was cool and overall our time there was fun and enjoyable with the staff making us feel welcome and comfortable. Would definitely recommend for a celebration, happy hour or just because!

I've been to Chicken Koop's Whittier location a few times ever since they first opened up and I loved every bit of it. I haven't been to this location in a few months but went twice within the first month of dating my gf. This location having a full bar is a huge plus! I've had several items here including their Cuban Style Plate, Grumpy Chicken Sandwich, Esquite, and Fried Cauliflower. Along with that, I've had several different beers and margarita pitchers. Everything has been spectacular! One thing that stands out is their service. Both times, I had great service. Not only did our servers deliver, but also servers that were assigned to different tables would interact with us on a friendly level. I 100% this location and we will back in the near future to try out more of their menu and drinks. It's located in the heart of Downtown Alhambra and the vibes are great!

I've dined here a few times and it never disappoints. The bar has to be one of my favorites since it has great additive free tequilas! You can catch a game, have a great drink and good food and go home completely satisfied. The service yesterday could have been better, our server didn't check if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meal. Had she have asked, I would have pointed out the Mac n cheese. It's probably my least favorite side dish here. The taste was off and I didn't bother with it. I did however, love the potato salad to go with my chicken and naan bread. My son ordered the chicken and waffle sandwich with poutine fries which he devoured. Overall, this restaurant is always a good time and the music is always a vibe. I would recommend dining here for any occasion.

$16 margarita that was suppose to be $7

I have been going to this chicken koop for over a year now and yesterday was probably my last time going. I was so excited to go because on Instagram they were promoting $7 margaritas and happy hour specials during the fifa World Cup games. We arrived, there was only 1 server so we had to wait like 20 minutes for a drink and another 30 minutes for our food. We ordered our food and drinks and when it was time to head out, the bill came out to $16 per margarita so I asked the server and she said they were not doing that special anymore yet keep in mind they had just posted about it on their instagram story that morning and it says "ALL LOCATIONS/ ALL DAY MON-Thurs" so it was clearly a lie. FALSE ADVERTISING AND THEY JUST LIKE TO STEAL YOUR MONEY. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION!! Save your money and go somewhere else.

It was here where I introduced bowling to my mom and we come back every year to bowl as a family. When we arrived, it was only a 10 min wait and staff were really nice to squeeze us in since it was pretty a packed house at 10 am! Things were nicely renovated and the AC was a comfortable cool to escape the heat. Snack bar was open but we didn't get anything. I do miss the foozeball table, air hockey, and the few arcade games that lined the hallway at the prior establishment. Despite the gutterballs, we all had a great time and thank you for keeping this place alive and going. We'll certainly be back again!

TLDR: Improved technology, more modern look, still affordable…read more I had been meaning to check out this newly reopened bowling alley for a while now, so I'm glad I finally got to go! I'm not sure if it's being run by the same owner or if someone else took over, but the building looks much more modern now. It's a little bittersweet to see all the nostalgic pieces of my childhood gone, but it's hard to deny that it's for the best. Prices were still pretty affordable. The staff member let us know that there's a cheaper deal on weekdays, which is pretty normal for bowling alleys. There is clearly a lot more seating on the top floor. The addition of all the tables is really nice. I also noticed that they removed the extra TVs that used to either play ads or sports and stuff. They also got rid of all the pool tables that I never saw anyone use. The screens and control panels are all updated to this modern design too. Something else that was interesting was how the old bowling ball racks were moved to the side of the building to make room for bag hooks behind the people bowling. Although it's a good idea, it's kind of hard to watch your belongings when they're behind you like that, so it leaves your stuff kind of open for stealing. It's also easier to grab the bowling ball you need though because they're all in one place instead of spread across the whole building. The only thing that I kind of hate is the seating down by the alley. There's actually less seating down there with these standalone dining table sets replacing the old benches. Since our party arrived when there were many other people there, we only had one side of the lane while strangers were on the other side. It's just a little awkward to sit at a dining table with strangers like that. Not to mention, the seating arrangement left a lot of people standing and kind of made it hard to communicate with each other. In terms of bowling mechanics, I think the amount of time it takes for the bowling ball to return has been reduced significantly. I'm so glad we don't have to wait ages for the ball to return for the second throw! The machine also didn't seem to experience incorrect racking, which used to happen all the time here. Sadly, the screen does not tell you the mph your throw was at anymore. I always thought that was a very helpful feature, so it's a shame to see it go. Lastly, the floors seemed well cleaned and waxed. I didn't have to powder my shoes and felt like my bowling ball glided pretty smoothly down the alleyway. Overall, I think this bowling alley is nice. I'm glad to have an alley that's close to my house again!

I think adding mozzarella with burrata would improve this pie, but nonetheless still good. The truffle pig pizza was also good. I remember when it was the Diner on Main and, since then, the interior has been remodeled. The interior is comfortable, clean, and the lighting makes the place quite intimate. As for the food, I thought it was very well-seasoned without being too salty. These were the dishes we got: Chicken Salad ($28): A cold chicken salad with fried taro strips, pickled peppers, shredded carrots, cilantro, and sweet pickled onions. I thought this would be very bland, but it turned out to be my favorite dish because of how refreshing it is. The chicken is boiled like hainan chicken and seasoned with a light, tangy sauce. Everything went well together. 4.5/5 stars Orange Chicken ($18): This is a pretty typical orange chicken. I don't think it wow'd me, but I liked that it wasn't overly breaded. 4/5 stars Black Pepper Filet Mignon with Mushrooms ($25): I'm not a huge mushroom person, but I really liked the mushrooms here. It was a combo of oyster mushrooms and button mushrooms with cubed filet mignon. The beef was also really tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth. 4/5 stars Shrimp in XO sauce ($25): This dish was slightly spicier than I expected, but it was also pretty good. The size of the shrimp was huge and the vegetables were on point. It had snap peas, bell peppers, and mountain potato (aka Japanese mountain yam). 4/5 stars The service was very attentive and the owner of the restaurant was very kind. I was pleasantly surprised when I sent an email to the address on the website and received a reply with the password in a little over thirty minutes. After parking, we didn't have any problems finding the entrance even though it is not marked. Look for the big wood double doors and doorman standing in front. After giving him the password, he opened the doors and we walked in. We were surprised in several ways. The place is way bigger than I would expect for a place named "The Speakeasy". And at 6:30pm on a Sunday, we were the only guests inside. Only one other couple came in during the 30 minutes we were there. I would assume they are a lot busier on Friday and Saturday night. It is dimly lit, and very red inside. The bar is large with many bottles of liquor on display and many seats. The rest of the space is one large area that must have at least 20 tables, and the ceiling is high. It gives off more of a nightclub vibe than a speakeasy vibe. I tried the Naked & Famous cocktail which has two of my favorite spirits (Vida mezcal, aperol, yellow Chartreuse, lime, $18). It was nicely balanced with a good mix of smoke and herbal flavor. She had the Pablo's Poison (Altos reposado tequila, strawberry, lime, jalapeno, elderflower, $17). The jalapeno flavor really stood out with strawberry and elderflower in the background.
