Honestly the service here was great and friendly but the food is terrible. Everything was mediocre and it just did not taste good and not worth paying for. We always pass by this place and decided to give it a try. Its a dark atmosphere and a simple menu. I feel like in a way the menu was too simple because I had a hard time ordering. We went with the fried chicken and waffles, roasted chicken, potato taquitos, fries, hummus and a side of mac and cheese. The food came out pretty cold. All the chicken was dry, not juicy, not seasoned well, just boring and tasteless. I stopped eating shortly after because nothing tasted good. Even though this was all standard food menu items, the food was underwhelming and tasted below par for a restaurant. Sadly, would not come back here at all. read more

Going to start off by thanking our server, Donna. She was truly trying her best. I've been going to chicken Koop consistently for years (at least 5), sadly this is likely my last visit. Taking away bottomless mimosas hurt! It was my favorite brunch spot to go and have given countless recommendations to visit here. We sat and it was completely empty, which was very surprising. Then we learned brunch mimosas were no longer an option. Half of the soda options were unavailable, rum was out- so no mojitos, and it just felt so bleh. We truly felt the overall experience shift and not for the better. I came here for my birthday and it took over 30 minutes for my drink pitcher to arrive, they said their systems have shifted so sometimes orders get sent the wrong side of the restaurant but still Server was alone for most of the time we were there but she was trying her best to manage all the guests. Many tables left due to changes and we considered it as well but stayed. I hope management reconsiders the changes that will ultimately hurt the business. Came on Easter Sunday around 4pm with my wife. We sat at the bar and service was great. Turns out they have all day happy hour on Sundays where Margaritas are $7, Mojitas $8, and Modelo on draft is $5 each. For 6 drinks (2 mojitos, 1 margarita, 1 michelada, 1 modelo, and 1 tequila sour) our bill came out to just $58 before tip. The bartender "Angel" was great always made sure we were good and remembered our preferences. Music was bumping, good music playing and speakers were actually decent. We asked Angel to put on the Laker game and he gladly did. Would def come back for their happy hour in the future! read more

I've been to Chicken Koop's Whittier location a few times ever since they first opened up and I loved every bit of it. I haven't been to this location in a few months but went twice within the first month of dating my gf. This location having a full bar is a huge plus! I've had several items here including their Cuban Style Plate, Grumpy Chicken Sandwich, Esquite, and Fried Cauliflower. Along with that, I've had several different beers and margarita pitchers. Everything has been spectacular! One thing that stands out is their service. Both times, I had great service. Not only did our servers deliver, but also servers that were assigned to different tables would interact with us on a friendly level. I 100% this location and we will back in the near future to try out more of their menu and drinks. It's located in the heart of Downtown Alhambra and the vibes are great! read more

I was in the area a few weeks ago meeting a friend and her family. We went around lunch time on a Saturday and it wasn't too packed. We got seated pretty quickly. One thing I that caught my attention right away was that the music was pretty loud. I have been to the Alhambra location before but do not remember the music being that loud. Any chicken dish here is pretty solid but this time around I got the poutine and it wasn't that great. Not as flavorful as other ones I have tried in the past. My kids loved the mac and cheese and devoured the whole bowl. The staff was pretty attentive too so we never had to wait too long for things. Especially with kids that was a plus! I have been going to this chicken koop for over a year now and yesterday was probably my last time going. I was so excited to go because on Instagram they were promoting $7 margaritas and happy hour specials during the fifa World Cup games. We arrived, there was only 1 server so we had to wait like 20 minutes for a drink and another 30 minutes for our food. We ordered our food and drinks and when it was time to head out, the bill came out to $16 per margarita so I asked the server and she said they were not doing that special anymore yet keep in mind they had just posted about it on their instagram story that morning and it says "ALL LOCATIONS/ ALL DAY MON-Thurs" so it was clearly a lie. FALSE ADVERTISING AND THEY JUST LIKE TO STEAL YOUR MONEY. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION!! Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

I always order for pickup so not sure about the ambiance or the service. My go to order is the taquitos with extra everything! I'm not a fan of chicken taquitos, I prefer shredded beef but these are the exception. If you don't like them loaded at least get extra salsa on the side because it's delicious. The chicken Koop used to be our favorite spot for brunch and dinner but not anymore. They recently changed the menu and removed the bottomless mimosas, which was the best part. They also increase their menu prices. The mojito pitchers went up by $10. The menu is no longer fun just like the ambience. I've dined here a few times and it never disappoints. The bar has to be one of my favorites since it has great additive free tequilas! You can catch a game, have a great drink and good food and go home completely satisfied. The service yesterday could have been better, our server didn't check if we needed anything or if we were enjoying our meal. Had she have asked, I would have pointed out the Mac n cheese. It's probably my least favorite side dish here. The taste was off and I didn't bother with it. I did however, love the potato salad to go with my chicken and naan bread. My son ordered the chicken and waffle sandwich with poutine fries which he devoured. Overall, this restaurant is always a good time and the music is always a vibe. If Boston Mkt was grown up, it would be The Chicken Koop! Tasty roasted chicken that is juicy and falls off the bone. I've never been disappointed eating here! Elidia was running back and forth as she was the only one that was taking orders, bussing tables and delivering orders as someone had called out and leaving her to handle everything. Even though it was busy, she handled it like a champ! The vibe playing 90's music and it being brunch happy hour made the ambiance pretty energetic. Brussels sprouts were perfect as well as sweet potato fries. The garlic sauce and cilantro green sauce is always delicious. I've been to the Chicken Koop location in Whittier and really enjoyed it. When my boyfriend suggested their Alhambra location for dinner I was easily convinced. It's a busy area over there, but it's pretty convenient that they are right across from a parking garage. Upon entering it was really busy and popular. It was dark and pretty noisy in general and compared to their other location. We were lucky to score a small table in the corner, but it was cramped. My boyfriend and I both ordered their 1/2 Roasted Chicken Plate ($18.99/each). I had my chicken upgraded to their Butter Garlic style ($2.50). This plate comes with 2 sides and 2 dipping sauces. My boyfriend had the mac and cheese, brussels sprouts, garlic spread and garlic ginger sauces. I had their roasted corn, sweet plantains, garlic spread, and chimichurri. The food was ready in about 10 minutes after we ordered so that wasn't too bad. The meal also came with some toasted pita bread, which was a nice touch. My boyfriend was really disappointed with his chicken. Mine was okay but not as great as I remember it being from their Whittier location. We did not like the mac and cheese. The brussels could be crispier. We agreed my roasted corn was the best side. The sweet plantains had a nice crispiness on the edges and I treated it like a dessert after my meal. As for the sauces, I did not like the chimichurri at all. I should have stuck with double garlic spread. The one thing I remembered most about this experience was the AWFUL WATER. Gross. The worst water I ever sipped, to the point I had to spit it back out. Gross. If service was more attentive I would have ordered a soda or something. I was thirsty and dry throughout my whole meal but couldn't bear to touch that water. Service was neglectful down to the last minute. We had to waveeee down stuff to get the check. The young lady who got our bill said this is the bill, but we needed to wait for our assigned waitress to close us out. Thankfully that girl went and grabbed our waitress, or we would have been stuck there even longer. We asked for a small box for my leftovers so we had to wait around a bit longer. Portion was decent, but the standard chicken seems dry and the sides were a hit or miss. For such a stressful area and disappointing service, I'm not really in a hurry to come back. read more

Came in today to watch a game during lunch. I got a cucumber drink that was pretty refreshing. Also got the Belly Buster sandwich. I was expecting the waffle to be crispier? Or at least hold its shape but it was really soggy. It was hard to eat because everything was falling apart. Aside from that, the flavor was great. You do need to add the maple syrup though because the chicken sandwich alone is a little dry. The garlic fries on the side were great too. This was about $19? Other people in my group got the bottomless mimosas for $25 a head. Price point is alright. Not the best but not bad either. Service was great. Our server was attentive. He did forget our drink once but that's alright. It was pretty busy during the time we went. I assume it was cause of the basketball and baseball game going on. It was a lively feel. I'm not sure if I would come back. Maybe if it's for social reasons. They do have drinks here but didn't try them today. I think that they are a great deal and I especially love how many fun flavors they offer, it gives us a chance to mix it up ok every order. Between the three of us we tried the blood orange margarita and the strawberry mojito. I like that they provide you with rimmed glasses for the margarita. My friend and I stopped here because our first choice had a 25-minute wait and we saw this place on the way back to our cars. The Chicken Koop is a lively establishment - a sports bar with a night club vibe. It was packed at 7 p.m. but there were two spots at the bar. The darling hostess directed us to the available seats where we received an equally warm greeting from the bartender. I ordered the Jaimito's Way while we decided what to eat. It was a tasty concoction of Mezcal, elderflower, cucumber, jalapeño, mint, & lime. The menu is extensive and everything comes with chicken, but you can request it without. We decided to share the Loaded Nachos (mini) with the chicken on the side for my friend. The food came out fast and was delivered by Iliana. It was her first day and she was fantastic! The nachos were a base of wontons instead of tortilla chips (which I liked) and were topped with black beans, cheese sauce, jalapeños, Pico de Gallo, & sour cream. We also got a cheese quesadilla (without chicken). The quesadilla comes with your choice of dipping sauce, and we selected Habanero. The Habanero sauce was awesome! The playlist was great, and I was digging the music. However, it was a bit loud, which made it hard to converse even though we were seated next to each other. I had to turn around to see if there was a dance floor behind us - nope, just booths. Overall, the appetizers were good, my cocktail was yummy, and the staff were all incredibly friendly. False advertising... False pretenses... Let me start by saying we use to like this place and would often recommend it to many of our friends. This place used to have a great variety of good options at reasonable prices. Drinks were exceptional as well. That is no longer the case... we visited yesterday after a long hiatus & am unsure when everything went downhill. We were the first to arrive upon opening at 5 p.m. looking for good happy hr drinks & bites . The black awning outside has Happy Hour in yellow letters so you can't miss it. We decided to go on in. Sat at the bar and we're handed a single leaflet for a menu which lists Happy hour bites , drinks and prices. The bar tender was courteous enough to serve us water without us asking. Next question was what would we like to drink & if we were ready to order food which we were & we did. 2 palomas, 3 taquitos, small esquite & small brusells was our initial order. Following up with 1 paloma (which I had to ask to be prepared with less mix as the fist were way too sweet) & 1 Mai Tai. Needless to say we had to request a cup of soda water to cut the sugar in the drinks. By that point my drink tasted exactly like a soda Instead of a cocktail. We requested our bill from the bartender and once we saw it immediately noticed something was wrong. I asked him if the items reflected Happy Hour prices? To which he replied, sorry we have no more Happy hour here. He claimed the establishment had new management & Happy hour was cut and so was the menu. I asked if the menu we were handed was the full menu he said yes but that there is no longer Happy Hour even though it is advertised from 5-7 p.m. he also mentioned the restaurant was loosing too much money by offering Happy hour prices. Well... you're loosing more than you think. On our way out, my husband and I agreed we will never come here again. Not only were we not made aware that there no longer exists a Happy hour despite their advertising and menu. Word of advice... Don't be fooled into coming here... we sure won't be again. Do yourself a favor, go across to 38° instead. At least there you won't be served $16 cups of flavored sugar water & their prices are exactly what they advertise them to be. read more

I had such a great time here with my besties! I have came here on numerous occasions with friends to say it colorfully, "messed up". Went here recently with my sister and friend. Great place to chill and hangout, great for drinks too! But we don't drink so we just got food. The food is delicious and great portions. Service was great as well! I felt bad for the server though because I was in a rush to go back to work after my lunch break so we were rushing them a bit for my order. Loaded Nachos were awesome and extremely filling. Paired phenomenally with a beer. Popcorn chicken was very batter-heavy and didn't have a lot of meat. The drink was a morning old fashioned...basically an espresso old fashioned...really good, not too strong and perfect for sipping for brunch. Food I had was the grumpy chicken sandwich which was recommended by our server since I was stuck between this and the taquitos. I was expecting it to be spicier but it still hit. I recommended it with the coleslaw. I also had the jalapeño Mac n cheese, I dont recommend. I'd say it was a maybe a 4 out of 10. I dont want to disrespect the cook but it honestly tasted like boxed mac n cheese. I expected some actual jalapeños in it but, there was nothing like that. Stopped by for happy hour and ordered the loaded nachos for $14.99. The portion seemed about the same as the mini loaded nachos on the regular menu, which are $11.99. When I asked the server if the happy hour nachos were just the mini size, she just said that they were the happy hour portion lol ok. I also asked if I could pay the extra $2 to upgrade to the regular portion ($16.99), but that wasn't an option. It feels like the happy hour food menu isn't really much of a discount. If anything, you might as well order from the regular menu and you'll probably pay less. I'd probably just stick to drinks for happy hour, or ask to clarify portion sizes before ordering food. Otherwise, the drinks were fine. We got the hot chick and the farmer's daughter. The restaurant was fairly dark. I saw a couple using their flashlights on their phone to order. The staff ought to call OSHA. We didn't have anywhere else to go at that hour other than that obnoxiously long line at the 50s burger joint, you know the one, so we didn't fly from the Koop. The food was decent. Not great, but not bad. The menu seems to have so many tasty things, but I haven't been impressed by Chicken Koop's implementation of them. Maybe they shouldn't spread themselves so thin and focus on fewer items and make them better. I never returned to this place, not even for pickup. read more

I did a to go order so I can only speak based on that. I had ordered the chicken sandwich and chose the spicy level with garlic fries. The chicken sandwich itself is pretty huge - at least for me. I couldn't finish it all, but I choose the spicy level, just know that it is going to be spicy. The food itself was OK. I was really just disappointed with the fries because by the time I got home to eat my food, my fries went stale. Which is not a great sign since I don't live too far (less than 10mins). Anyways overall I would rate it a 3.5 out of 5. I definitely will be back to try other options as they seem to have other food options. read more
