I got the elote egg rolls to start and the chimichuri steak sandwich and BKB burger to share. The elote egg rolls were pretty good but, IMO, would have liked some more chunks of corn to represent the OG elote. BKB burger was ordered medium and was juicy and tender. The chimichuri steak sandwich was disappointing, however. I wasn't a fan of the chimichuri sauce or the lack there of it as the flavor was very subtle and too herby for me. I'd definitely come here again tho to try more of their drinks, especially the beers. I got the cali creamin which was a nice smooth stout and the mango tango soju cocktail that was pretty light. Came here during happy hour on a very hot day. There's some seating inside the bar, but the majority of the seats were in a patio and make shift out door seating of what used to be a parking lot. The parking itself was on the busy street. It was cooler sitting outside, compared to inside, but overall if it's a hot day it'll be hot. This place would be better if they had some cooling fans. A nice little local joint in Monterey Park! The service was excellent as we were checked on often, but didn't feel rushed. There is plenty of patio seating which is also pet friendly. They'll even bring a bowl of water out for your fur baby. And they had the Dodger game playing during our most recent visit. My hubby and I have only been a couple of times, once for happy hour and another visit with a larger group. There's street parking to get here. There's loads of seating both indoor and outdoor. They have shaded covers for outside so you don't get too toasty outside. Plus they have a tv for watching sports. The staff are really nice and friendly. It's very chill and casual here. They have you sit down then arrive to get your order. The menus are on the QR codes on each table. I got the BKB burger medium rare. It was delicious! I was able to easily eat it all. The food is well portioned. Even with the fries I was just full. I also got the strawberry mochi cake. This is a cute space, and I'm sure it would be great to sit in the evening to have dinner out on their patio area. I got the fish and chips and I thought it was okay. I enjoyed the flavor of the batter, but I found the fish to be cut too thickly so it was pretty wet and mushy in the middle. The tarter sauce was nice! I also found the plate to be very awkwardly small. I could not fit my mouth around the burger because the beer-battered pollack was so large, which is not a complaint at all. It was super crispy and piping hot since it was fresh out of the fryer. I thought $18 seemed a bit steep at first but this lasted me two meals because I got full so quickly. I ordered it with mixed greens as my side so that it could act as a palate cleanser to balance the fried food. We hosted a 30 person birthday gathering here on a Saturday night and everyone was so welcoming and attentive. On top of that, they called to check in a few times beforehand to confirm the reservation and let us know about the mandatory service fee and give us a heads up that food might take a while for larger parties. This place was so fun with our dog! There is ample outdoor seating for brunch in the front. The patio is covered in tarp or you can eat under the side of the building. There are also heat lamps for those chilly days. If you drive by too fast you might miss it and there is street parking only. I think the alley is in the back but not sure if there is parking there. The place was more of a hipster Eagle Rock vibe located on the south side of Monterey Park by the 60. Service was prompt and friendly. They always filled our water glasses and made sure we were ok. I had a craving for chicken & waffles (A+) and this place popped up. The chicken was crispy and tender and the waffles cooked to perfection. Had this Monterey Park gastropub bookmarked forever and finally got around to going. Glad I did, as the food was pretty darn good. Located near the 60 freeway on Garfield, parking is fairly easy to find on the street. It's a hip little burger and brew joint that has very friendly service. The menu is not huge. It's basically a few burger and sandwich items. They have seating inside, but the inside is not huge and keep in mind the music playing (a blend of euro house and indie hip-hop) can be loud. They do have a rather large outdoor patio attached to the side, where many people chose to sit. On to the food and drink. They offer a good variety of brews on tap from various microbreweries, as well as some wines and soju cocktails. For food we got the fish and chips, the BKB burger (a bacon, cheese burger), and the steak chimichurri sandwich. All three were great. I would say the stand out was the burger, though the other 2 dishes were really quite good. Their flavor combos are kind of original without going bonkers. I'm sure there are other things we'd go back and try like the fish burger (a high end fish filet) and the hot chicken sandwich. All in all, this is a reasonably priced, good eating gastropub.
