Here for the happy hour to grab some food and beer to catch up. We ordered fried calamari and nachos. The fried calamari was all tentacles, a bit over cooked and greasy. There's quite a bit of cheese on the nachos. However, the melted cheese was a gloppy mess and the chips were stale. The beer flavor had a good flavor though. The waitress came by and asked how's everything, we mentioned the chips were stale so she switched out a new one for us. But it's still stale... Beer selection is very decent here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a lively bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But our experience with food here was not great this time.

I came here after a long day at work with a coworker and it was exactly what we needed. It had great happy hour food and drinks. We shared tacos, fries, and wings, and everything hit the spot. We got so happy, we forgot to take pictures of our delicious food. There are plenty of parking with a lot behind the building plus nearby free structures, which is always a bonus. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is a fun atmosphere, good vibes, and a great place to unwind after work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is definitely a fun hang out spot. We would definitely come back again!

Post-work St. Paddy's Day date night at 38 Degrees Ale House & Grill did not disappoint! The green beer was festive, and the corned beef & cabbage was a must. Wings had a serious spicy kick, balanced perfectly with crispy sweet potato fries. We were quoted a 1.5-hour wait, but it flew by and was totally worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The lively atmosphere, great beer selection, and game-day energy made it even better, especially catching the World Baseball Classic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fun, flavorful, and perfect for a casual date night or hangout. Will definitely be back for more! @jhennybventures (ig & tiktok)

My husband and I love to come here for date night! We always get their beer flights as well which is not pictured, since we can never remember which ones we like or didn't care for they have a plethora of beers to choose from so if you are like us and want to sample them all, get a flight! The food is always delicious, our favorite is definitely the jalapeño chorizo pizza! Service is always super friendly & helpful offering great recommendations! We love coming here and will continue to come back

We came here for happy hour. Got the tacos and paloma margarita. Food and drinks were overall okay. Pricing is reasonable for hapoy hour. On the day that we went, they messed up our orders a couple of times. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I do enjoy how lively it was and how they put on sports.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The food was so tasty I didn't even get a picture of it! My friend and I stopped by for their happy hour during a weekday and split a beef brisket smokehouse bbq tray with a side of green beans and fries. Their garlic aioli is divine. Stefanie was our server and she was phenomenal. She recommended the hibiscus margarita with Tajín and it did not disappoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is quite roomy and we were able to sit off to the side to enjoy a some quiet away from the crowd.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came during a busy day since a dodgers game was on. Calamari was probably the best thing we ate. I didnt use the dip though because it kinda tasted like bbq sauce? I liked the fish tacos because it was crispy but not the sauce they added on it. I think its the same sauce they use for their wings. It was interesting but ruined it. I tried their brisket and it wad a bit dried. Felt like they boiled it the sliced it up. Service was great though!

This place seemed like a cool stop to eat and grab a drink. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside was calm and sophisticated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My pizza was soo good! This one should stay on their menu. The service was ok and waiter was friendly. I would definitely recommend this place.

Dropped in to 38 Degrees, our local go-to spot, to eat, drink, and catch the Dodgers game--and the place delivered across the board. We checked in with the hostess and were seated right away. It was busy but not uncomfortably packed, which made for a fun but relaxed vibe. We walked over, but if you're driving, there's a parking lot located right behind the restaurant--super convenient. We landed right in the middle of Happy Hour, which was perfect. We ordered a mix of IPAs, a whiskey flight, and a couple of solid Old Fashioneds. For food, we went with the calamari, brisket nachos, and some side orders of carrots and celery to balance things out a bit. The energy in the room was great, with the Dodgers game and NBA Finals playing on multiple TVs. Everyone was locked in and having a good time--exactly the atmosphere you want from a neighborhood ale house. Big shoutout to Adam, who took care of us all night. Attentive, polite, and on top of it. Service was smooth, and we never had to flag anyone down. Highlights: - Happy Hour deals worth showing up for - Great drink selection: beer, whiskey flights, cocktails - TVs everywhere for live sports - Walkable and parking lot access behind the building - Excellent service (ask for Adam!)

38 degrees is a spacious bar with multiple TVs to watch games with local fans. Stopped by for a drink and appetizers and got the ceviche and poke. Pricing was reasonable with the bill being around 70 for a group of 4. We were seated quickly with options to choose where we sat and our server was professional. The drink and food was good, nothing in particularly extraordinary. Great choice to pick as your regular bar, but not if you're looking for a special night out. I'm sure we'll be back one day.

Nice offer. Used it in calamari (good) ended up paying $4. with entree Pork Cheek Sandwich $15.

The menus change constantly and although it says on the door that sundays there's $2off all tap beers it isn't. So it's good to ask or look at their most updated menu. I come here once in a while for the beer since it's close by. Today we had a Pranqster (North Coast Brewing) which is a Belgian I believe. It's good, 3.7/5 for me. The Lucky Bunny with a Chainsaw Hazy IPA which was great! It was a Sunday special for $6 a pint. 4.8/5 for me.

One of my favorite places to eat for lunch! The food is always delicious. They have a really great happy hour menu. The drinks are good. I love that they have a large variety of beer on tap. The restaurant is very spacious. They have large screen tv throughout the bar so it's a great place for game night. This is also a cute spot for date night. The servers and owner are always so kind!

Ordered and it was vodka soda, so I told the guy who took our order, I watched him make the second drink and he used the liquid pump for the soft drinks, unfortunately again, no tonic, it tasted the same. I really didn't want to send it back a second time, but my daughter told me, how are they supposed to know if I don't say anything. So I did, I explained it was still the same, no sweetness, just bland, tonic normally has sugar, I explained maybe the package they were using, was out of whatever? I didn't realize they used syrups like for soda or carbonation, I always saw bars use tonic from a bottle. The guy took it back a third time and I watched the other bartender taste it, at that time I saw them changing something underneath the bar, he brought back the third drink, it was cloudy and did taste better, but at this point I was over it, I had one drink there for my birthday, and left after that. Super disappointed. I have to say when they closed down, (still not sure why) I wasn't surprised. I had some good times there due to the staff, but other members of the staff could be difficult. Several times over charged, and not very accommodating when I had to complain, but we would still go back. After this I don't think I will be back anytime soon. Nothing was updated during the year they were closed, they said they were renovating, not true. The woman's restroom still had broken hand towel dispensers, and soap dispensers, the door lock to the handicapped stall is still messed up. Nothing at all changed to make any upgrades. Really makes you wonder why they closed down to begin with, or shut down?

I'm a second-generation Irish-American from New York, and St. Patrick's Day has always meant something in my family. Growing up it was about heritage, family, and a little joy. Now that I have two daughters of my own -- very Irish-looking girls who are proud of their roots -- I wanted them to experience some of that same Irish pub spirit. So on St. Patrick's Day 2025, I took them to Griffin's of Kinsale in South Pasadena. They were so excited to be there -- the decorations, the music, the feeling of a real Irish pub. For a moment I thought, this is going to be a great memory for them. We came early because it was a school night. The restaurant was busy -- which is understandable on St. Patrick's Day. I ordered three salmon dinners for my daughters and myself. The bill came to about $150. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Over an hour and a half. During that entire time: * No one warned us the kitchen was backed up when we ordered. * No one checked on our table. * No updates. * No communication at all. Had someone simply said "Just so you know, food may take an hour or more tonight," I could have made a different decision -- especially with two kids who had school the next morning. Instead we sat downstairs watching the clock while the evening disappeared. By the end of the night my daughters -- who had been so excited walking in -- were tired, hungry, and miserable. When I asked to speak with a manager, no one came. No explanation. No apology. Restaurants get slammed on holidays. Kitchens fall behind. That happens. But ignoring a table for 90 minutes -- especially a family with children -- isn't a busy night. It's bad management. What should have been a fun St. Patrick's Day memory for my daughters turned into a long, uncomfortable evening where we felt completely invisible. For a place that trades so heavily on Irish identity and hospitality, this was about as far from hospitality as you can get. Save your $150 and celebrate St. Patrick's Day somewhere that actually wants you there. And if management would like to explain how a family ends up waiting 90 minutes with no communication, I'd genuinely be interested to hear it.

You have the reds, whites, the sweets, the sparkling and etc. Not only the difference in profile, but you can pair it with food to enhance the overall flavor. Overall, our recent experiences have been solid. It's always great when an "old favorite" still feels like a good value. I miss some of the menu items like the lentil shepherd's pie, but we have very much enjoyed the hearty English breakfast. They also have a good selection of European beers on tap. Service has been friendly, but it is lightly staffed and pretty slow, so it's not a good place if you are in a hurry. They don't keep an eye on the patio, so if you sit out there, it's best to go inside and let them know. They also seem to have more rules than before - but I have to imagine these have come from experience. I don't think this is an ideal place to go with a large group. If it's a quiet night you might be able to pull tables together long-ways, but most tables seem ideal for 2-4. We come with our dog and sit on the patio when it isn't busy. The dog meals are massive (more food than ours eats in a whole day and she weighs 60 lbs). It's a good value, but beware if your dog is on a diet! Overall, my favorite thing is that genuinely feels like a pub, in that you can just come as you are and take your time without being rushed. A good fit for both locals and visitors in Pasadena.

My best experiences have been when I sit at the bar (alone or with friends), drinks only. Even at that, the service has rarely been stellar. Sierra Madre is the exception as far as the service is concerned. Never have had bad service there. The other 2 locations.....meh! The Old Town location is the worst as far as comfort is concerned. Super cramped and claustrophobic. No elbow room whatsoever. The other two locations aren't as tight but still need better spacing. The food here is mediocre at very best. The traditional Fish and Chips equal 3 words.....soggy, Soggy and.....SOGGY!! Crisp isn't even in their vocabulary. Both, Fish and Chips are very under-seasoned and just very disappointing and unappealing. The "Bangers and Mash" are equally disappointing. Are you serious.....deep frying the Brats to "finish them off "? The flavorless Mashed and Gravy really seal this dish as a sucker's bet. And don't get me started on the nasty frozen peas that they serve. The British Curry is the best of the traditional fare and it is barely average. Desperately in need of flavor. I go to the East Pasadena location on New Year's Eve to meet a very large group of motorcyclists for a ride, but after 3 years in a row of very disappointing breakfasts now all I do is meet them there and ride. I mean, have you ever had greasy pancakes?! And the kitchen couldn't cook an egg to order if their lives depended on it! I have to say that they do have a couple tasty Burgers though. Not what most go to an "English Pub" for but pretty much the best stuff on the menu is in burger form. The "English" is a pretty solid burger, well rounded flavors and a big seasoned and juicy patty. The "Irish" is good too. I just don't understand the Swiss Cheese, why not an Irish Cheddar?! The rest their Burgers/Sandwiches seem very uninspired, something you can get in just about every restaurant in America! Do yourself a favor and get the Steak Fries (well done) with your Burger, not the soggy homemade Fries. I went this Sunday 07/05 with some out of town guests to hit up a futbol match. They wanted to watch in a "real pub atmosphere", and had heard of Lucky Baldwins on Big Bang Theory. There was 7 of us and we arrived early enough to get a good table for the match. The place was virtually empty when we got there but filled up quickly. We all ordered our beers, then my buddies unloaded on some appetizers....5 Scotch Eggs, 2 Irish Nachos (with Steak Fries, no Tomato) and 2 Buffalo Cauliflower (1 with no sauce). Everyone Loved the Scotch Eggs, they were grub. The Grain Mustard is such a compliment. The Cauliflower was very good, with a crispy breading and very well seasoned. The Buffalo Sauce added a great kick but the Bleu Cheese Dressing was not up to par.....watery and where was the Bleu Cheese?! Our Irish Nachos were decent but came with Tomatoes (which I cannot eat). I do have to say that they do have a great variety of ale and beers. They are a little pricey though. Go for the beer, stay for the beer, be mindful of what you order!

Love that they have a parking lot! Love the cookies! In short, I'm just so grateful that our friends invited us to join them here for weekly trivia fun on Tuesdays! This is such an amazing brewery! Highly, highly recommend!!

It is now our favorite local place to unwind with a few libations, some games and usually an enormous, delicious pretzel. The staff is next-level friendly, and it rubs off on the customers, most of which are regulars. They host so many events and always keep the menu exciting. Plus they have an awesome dog-friendly patio! Love this place. The only negative thing I'd say is that the roar of the customers against the hard-surfaced walls and ceiling can really get overwhelming at times, but whatever. Not usually a big deal. Just hit the patio if it's too noisy inside. Definitely check out the place if you haven't yet.

My group of friends and I went during the World Cup craziness. We had just come from another bar after the game had concluded and with an hour left before closing the hospitality was still as great as ever! I can imagine how crazy busy they might have been before we arrived but I'm glad the quality of service we received was good. I didn't know what to try and the sweet lady at the register gave me some great recommendations. I went with a seltzer and it was amazing (especially coming from another bar I wanted something light haha & no I was not driving). I will definitely be returning and with a group of friends again because the space is very nice and the vibes were great! Perfect spot for game days or an outing with some buddies. As for parking, it's located in the busy area of Pasadena and centered around a residential area expect to park far or in a parking structure; that means walking! Although, that's not a deal breaker as the area offers plenty to do and all within walking distance.
