This place is horrible! I'm only giving them 1 star because I have to, otherwise they wouldn't even receive 1! We came in for ONE quick drink to kill some time while waiting for our dinner across the street. My family and I asked for 3 micheladas and the waitress took our order, came back and said, " I can't serve him alcohol, I can only serve you two" (him meaning my boyfriend) without even giving us a reason why. Umm, we all were like, "why?!" Why can't you serve him a beer? And the waitress said, "my manager said he looks intoxicated" WTF! All we said was "are you serious?!" We weren't going to argue, so we all just got up and left. My family is Mexican and this "manager" was a young white dude who gave us a dirty ass look from the start, which made it very uncomfortable from the moment we walked in. He did not say a word, didn't bother to greet us nor give us menus, he only looked down on us. Maybe he was hating on the fact the Raiders lost today and my boyfriend was rocking his Kansas City Jersey, I don't know but I honestly do believe he was being racist towards us and discriminating based on our appearance. Shout out to my girl Brittany tHat totally took care of my cousin and I . We walked into a crowded ass bar to watch the UFC fight and maybeeeeee it's because we all have FABULOUS curly hair lol but she spotted us and took care of us immediately ... she then about 20/30 mins late came back and asked me BY NAME if I wanted a refill . Um yes I do and I also want to come back because you're amazing !! Ok enough about my girl britnay and onto the calamari is was bangin . The crust was perfect and the calamari was fresh . The sauce that comes with it was horrible ! HOWEVER it was a chipotle sauce and I hate chipotle .. so there you go ! I also ordered the empanadas that came with this delicious green sauce that had hints of lime cilantro and avocado . Yummm... so the chicken lacked flavor big time. We called few weeks in advance to get reservation and they told us "first come first serve." Hosts said if you have a part of 4 or more you could sit anywhere you'd like. After a while the waitress came and said "we have to move you guys due to this bigger party having a reservation." Reminder they said "no reservations" so they said they were friends of the owner and they bought a bottle so we offered to purchase a bottle as well but felt so unwanted and awkward that we got kicked out of our seats. We came here because Rabbit Hole (which is a bar right next to this bar) had dress restrictions on our male friends. They weren't allowed to wear slippers, which was weird because I saw under dressed women and men inside the bar (with guys wearing slippers). We didn't realize downtown Alhambra had that kind of vibe. We were irritated, so we found out that this bar had a more relaxed and chill vibe. Everyone was allowed inside! So here I am once again. This place is thee place to b!!! Alhambra has several culinary and bar choices but none that stand out like this place. The manager , although new to the family, is AMAZING!! As a hospitality and customer service professional, he exudes great ( excellent really) service to his newly adopted establishment. He greets customers, shakes ur hand and remembers who u are which is a nice personal touch. Not found really these days . His staff looks happy and are also very great to b services by. Their polite and in point with the performances as servers and wait staff. We're here for a 21 yr bday party and instantly he greeted us and made certain we were cared for and if we needed anything to make our celebration/ experience a greater one!!!! We called ahead of time to reserve a space in the bar and they made certain we were accommodated. The music was cool but not in the taste for a 21 yr old party so we asked if we could possibly change to a more upscale beat. And within a minute we were grooving in our seats!!!!!! So all in all we have had great times here and as an Alhambra resident of 19 years. This place is surely a great place to go. Sports tvs , great decor, live bands , dis. And happy hour till 8 pm. There's a TouchTune™ jukebox that will play your picks at a very reasonable volume. The service was very accommodating for our big group. We came as a cohort. Cohort 118, to be specific. Cohort is an adopted word (orphaned by the Italian mafia), used to describe a class that sticks together, because it drinks beer together. We are the future of governance for sport. We are the heirs of administrative art. We are bound to annoy the piss out of our constituents with our redundant pedantics (that's not even a word), and through their squirmy discomfort, they will realize themselves and bloom like the golden lotus. I came in with a group of my buddies on a Saturday. We could hear the music from outside, so we decided to come in. Riley greeted us at the door and sat us at a table. She always made sure we had drinks and constantly kept coming by to make sure we were okay. I saw two other girls working, but neither of them stopped for our table or asked us if we were okay. By far, Riley is the best server here. She told us about the live band on Wednesdays and the jack Daniel shot deals, so we'll be back to see her again and listen to some good music. The servers are amazing and the friendliest you'll find, it's like going to Hooters without the Hooters' uniform. Try the street tacos or the pizza with your beer. Came here for the 2nd time and mostly for the music. After my 2nd time dont think I will be coming here again. I ordered a second drink of the jalapeño margarita and it had WAAAAAYYY tooooo much lemon/lime juice it was SUPER SOUR!!! Not drinkable at all... I went back to the bar to ask ALEJANDRA (bartender who did my drink) if she can remake it because it was not drinkable. It was like drinking straight lemon/lime juice ... she didn't seem to understand what I was talking about and she told me she would add more liquor to it which didn't help at all. When I told her to try it like any bartender should before serving to their customers she told me with an attitude "I don't drink I'm sober" and I replied "I'm sober too and I can tell this drink has waaay too much lemon/lime juice... its really SOUR" so she took my cup and shook up more alcohol into it and gave it back. No apologies or anything. Along with the SLOW service a disgusting drink when the crowd gets bigger is what you'll expect. Never did I think I would turn into a quote, unquote, YELPER, but here I am. My boyfriend is an avid yelp user and we were trying to find a bar to watch the Dodger game and upon putting bar in the search we decided to go with the first result that came up. 28 west. Dodgers ended up winning, go BLUE!!! We received exceptional service from both bartenders, a girl and a short guy. We were about to order another drink when all hell broke loose. A man that I later was told by other bar patrons was actually the owner named Adam, went behind the bar and started mopping. Now you say, whats the big deal with that right!?! Well Adam was absolutely way too drunk. (I heard that this place is a Raiders bar and opened up earlier in the day so its not too far fetched to assume this man was drinking for atleast 8 hours) Back to the mopping incident tho. Its a fully packed bar and Adam goes behind the bar and tells the girl bartender and short guy bartender to get out of the bar while he mops. They looked beyond confused and embarrassed as this was all happening in front of so many customers. There was another guy behind the bar, im assuming was the barback or possibly busser, and this guy tried to calm the situation and offered to finish mopping for Adam, then Adam went on an absolute drunk rampage and said "F*** you Erick", "F*** you!", "Get the F*** outta here!!! im going to mop myself since you dont know how to clean!". Keep in mind this gentleman Adam was beyond drunk! I felt so bad for the bar staff because obviously they have to deal with this a lot because their reactions werent those of a staff that is seeing this for the first time, and I felt bad for myself and the other guests because we wanted to order another drink or two but there were no bartenders behind the bar, only a drunk owner mopping and being belligerent. There is no way this yelp can be refuted by anyone, there were so many people at the bar witnessing this and the bar staff witnessed it. It happened around the 9oclock hour. Dont believe me? check the camera. Ask the pretty girl bartender that wears a lot of makeup that was working sunday night, ask the short bartender named barry or brian, ask Erick. Sad the only reason I remember that guys name is because of the words that were spoken to him and in the manner in which they were. Safe to say I will never come back here again. No way can I support a local business with owners like this. I hope next time this happens someone calls the police and gets this place shut down for having a horrible owner and submissive bartenders that over serve their guests/owner and make this bar an unsafe environment for everyone who comes in. I have been living in Alhambra all of my life, and have never tried this place till recently and I sure do regret it. My servers name was Riley, this is hands down one of the worst experiences I've had with customer service in a restaurant. I took my daughter and husband to enjoy some sports and good food. She came to our table smelling like cigarettes and liquor. Which I didn't think anything of until she started slurring her words and cursed in front of my 9 year old daughter. She forgot about our table and was relaxing with co workers on the other side of the restaurant when my husband wanted another beer. The beef empanadas and tacos were amazing and the older gentlemen who cleaned our table helped us more then our server did. The bartender was a light haired girl, she was nice and helpful, considering the fact we had to get up to ask her questions about the menu. The music Is a good atmosphere and drinks are well worth the price, but I honestly don't think I will be returning to this restaurant with my experience here. read more

0 stars if possible to give. I was taking my girlfriend out on a Saturday night a couple weeks ago and we decided to try main ST in Alhambra knowing there is good spots to bar hop. This was my first time coming into 28 west and will be my last. It was semi crowded and we wanted to find a fun spot to eat and drink. We were greeted and sat at a high top table because the bar was filled up. I do not re call the name of our server, she was blonde with glasses. we ordered a Moscow mule and pink kitty martini for drinks and ordered the carnitas tacos and wing platter for food. The drinks were great tasting but our food took a really long time and didn't seem fresh, it was very cold. Some of the wings tasted like they were not cooked enough. We were left without any plates nor napkins. Whenever my girlfriend and me tried to wave down our server, she was no where to be found or did not happen to see us. When my girlfriend went to the restroom she had told me she saw our server sitting at a table with another party. So as soon as she got back we waved down another server and told her we wanted our check. We did not finish our food, we still paid. We thought about contacting a manager but we don't like being " that " couple that complains. We brushed it off. The night was still early so we decided to stay and drink as soon as a seat at the bar opened up. We took a seat at the bar and continued to order drinks, as our night went on we decided to take a seat by the window in the lounge. I noticed the more I went back to the bar the more terrible my service was getting. I felt like I was being ignored, when I was waiting longer then other customers. When I waved down the bar tender and let her know I needed service, she continued to ignore me, serve other customers ahead of me and give attitude. When I finally got ahold of her she told me she didn't attend to me first because " I didn't tip." What kind of service is this? I am not forced to tip if i am given bad service. This bartender did not look happy nor like she liked her job. She looked frustrated and angry that she was there. I responded to her that if she had better customer service she would have received a tip, she responded to me " my name is Erika , my manager is over there if you have a problem then go talk to him " I still did not get my drinks, but at that point I just wanted to leave. I have never been treated that way in any bar/grill. Very un professional employees. This completely ruined our night, we ended up leaving to 38 degrees. This is by far my worst experience at any place. I do not recommend coming in, especially on a Saturday night. read more
