Such a cozy coffee shop! Stumbled across this coffee shop, thanks to Yelp! I was craving a good pour over and wanted to go to a place that I know would do it right. The good reviews won me over and here I am sipping my drip away. Delicious beans! The owner (I suspect he's the owner) was so friendly, and the coffee shop has a old bar vibe in that the people know the owner so well. A good sign of plenty of relationships built around coffee in this place. Not too many seating available but the place isn't so crowded during off hours (11ish). Ah it was great coffee, and this is one of the nearest coffee shops to where I live, which is 30 min away. But there is very little staff- actually just one guy at the counter- he kept saying our bagel is coming, and finally we had to leave hungry for our hike without the bagel bc he never got around to it :/ not worth the drive for us. read more

Great selection of coffee if you're a true coffee lover. They bring in different selections from different roasters and regions every week. It gives you an opportunity to try out different beans. They remained open even during the pandemic. Pair that with a friendly staff and owner, and you get an excellent cafe. Finally a local coffee shop in Fairfax Station, that's not Starbucks. The Caramel Latte was perfect. It was sweet enough with the caramel and the coffee was bold and flavorful. I have to update my first review since visiting 29th Parallel Coffee consistently over the last year or so. I have to say that Amir, who is the owner, and his son are engaging and fun to be around. They run their shop as a family business and they are both really knowledgeable on all things coffee. It's a great place for coffee nerds. The in store experience is relaxing and it's easy to get work done here. I often stop in to work on my computer or read. The coffee itself is premier and I still have not found a better, rotating selection of coffee in the area. After getting more into coffee, I now appreciate how they rotate coffee from notable vendors. The pour over menu changes often which means you get to try new things when you stop by. I love it. I come here nearly every other day to get my Ice Mocha. You would think I could have gotten that at any Starbucks. True but it's not the same. Unlike Starbucks that put artificial flavor and sweetener in their drinks, this place is the real deal. Their coffee and espresso are just so much more flavorful. So I refused to go to Starbucks after my disappointing experience seeking good coffee and a chill spot for studying. I will not be discouraged! A family member mentioned this place. And I owe him many thanks for saving my President's Day-off. First off - was warmly greeted by the barista. How nice. :) Next - the latte was about $4. And was absolutely delicious. Wholy moly. Tasty and rich (and I didn't receive 2nd degree burns down my throat - yay!). Last but not least - ambiance is perfect. Beautiful art on the walls - some artist that uses wood from construction sites - tasteful and very interesting. I would buy a piece if I wasn't a starving student...and the music is spot-on. What can I say about this place?! It is wonderful. It is like a coffee oasis out of nowhere. I first didn't even believe while we driving to the shops that there can be a coffee place studded in the complex! It is super cute,cozy and I loved it! What this coffee shop has that Starbucks doesn't have is personalization, an ever changing menu of specialty brews based on coffee bean, a multitude of ways of preparation (pour overs, cold press, French press, etc.) a living room type atmosphere and well, soul. You walk-in and are instantly greeted by lovely aromas that caress your nostrils with caffeine and complicated flavors that comprise of the amazing coffee you are about to order. You NEED coffee now, your mouth salivates for that bitter with a hint of velvety sweetness that is provided without fail every time you order your favorite brew... Mine just happens to be mocha. :p the best mocha in the world thus far and the fact they do the latteart in my cup makes me grin like a five year old. This open floor plan of a shop invites you to sit at the bar and watch the magic unfold and then because you end up having some great form of conversation, you now end up hanging out pleasantly pleased when an hour has passed and you realized the time was worth it.... I tried this place on a saturday afternoon with my boyfriend and I would give this place 5 stars. They still doing the promotion, buy one get one free if you check in on yelp, so do that before you purchase anything. This one located in fairfax and I believe its in a new shopping center. Parking can be hard to find on the weekend, so expect to circle around if you can't find for the first time. I ordered the vanilla latte (with artwork) and my boyfriend ordered macciato. I love the artwork they did on my latte since I know the barista tried hard for that (before I ordered I ask for the latte with artwork and he jokingly said "now I have so much pressure" and I just smiled). Regardless if artwork was a little mess up, I still give him credits that he tried to make it perfect since he knew it was my first time. I would definitely come back to try other coffee on the menu. The place was not crowded therefore it was a good time just to sit there and gossip and enjoy the cup of coffee. If you do not want to stand around to wait for coffee, you can definitely find a table and sit and wait, the barista will actually bring it to you when he's done with it. Well, you should be. 29th Parallel is not only the coffee shop that helped me fall in love with coffee, but it's also where my now-husband and I spent many a weekend- talking, laughing, and yes, falling in love. So when the old location closed, we were devastated. I'm happy to say the new place is perfection. Of course, the real gem will always be Amir. Not only is his passion for coffee apparent, but his appreciation for his customers is undeniably genuine. Ben and I haven't been in the area for a year and a half, but a couple weeks ago, we decided to visit. The coffee is still made with care, and Amir sat and talked to us for over an hour, catching up on life. The only downside was that we were reminded of how much we miss this place and the people. This is the coffee spot that my husband and I go to and boy, are we happy we found it! Hubby goes for the coffee products, buys the whole beans from time to time, and talks it up with Amir for hours. I, on the other hand, have a huge crush on the hibiscus berry tea, and happily sip that while I listen to their conversation and/or look what's happening in the coffee shop. You know what I find to be really cool? I didn't know if there was an iced option for the hibiscus berry tea, so I asked Amir if he could make it, and without a single amount of hesitation...he went on and did it. I know it's not difficult, but I usually don't like to ask if it's not on the menu! Anyways, it tasted FANTASTIC! That's pretty much my usual there. Rarely a breve, rarely! Also, like some other reviews, I know the wait time is a downer (to me, it's not that long, but I can see how it can offput others. And pfft, drinks don't take 25 minutes. I say 5-10 minutes.), but Amir puts a lot of attention and effort into creating the drinks, so please be patient because it's definitely worth it. Plus, he's honest and sweet that if you order a particular drink that will take some time, he will tell you before you confirm the order, so you can decide if you want to stay or go somewhere else. If you're worried that you won't have your drink within one minute because you need your "caffeine high", then go to Starbucks or someplace that won't put much effort into your drink. Anyways, you really, really, REALLY need to come here and give his drinks a try. I may not be a huge coffee fan but my hubby, friends, and family members all love the coffee here. Unassuming and fairly incognito, you wouldn't think this little coffee shop, nestled in between Smashburger and Hair by Lynn, would be grinding decent coffee. But 29th Parallel Coffee and Tea offers fantastic pour overs, espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, hot chocolate, affogatos, and teas! You can tell that Amir, the owner, and his team care very much about making a good cup of Joe for every person that walks through the door. They are friendly, passionate, and dedicated to the art of coffee making. You can watch them work their magic behind the counter; the pour overs are particularly fascinating! I ordered a honey latte and it was divine. One of the best lattes I've had. The pour over was also very, very good. They have a decent number of tables and even a few couches to relax in. One row of tables by the wall has outlets so you can charge your electronics and utilize their free Wi-Fi for work and play. I spent an hour here sipping my latte and studying, and I didn't feel rushed by the staff or guilty for occupying space. Most folks take their coffees to go anyways, but it's a nice, (for the most part) quiet place to read/study/work. I definitely was skeptical first stepping into a place with 64+ 5 star reviews, but that doubt was removed within 30 seconds of talking with Amir. Friendly would be a gross understatement to describe the way the manager and chief coffee evangelist enthusiastically shared about some of the pour-over coffees at the bar. He's the man and will go the length to make sure you're absolutely loving what you order. Direct trade coffee is a fresh alternative to the majority of coffee shops that share little about the social origin or history behind the caffeinated selections. I loved Amir's attention to detail and excitement for each individual roast - definitely try the Yellow Reserve or Secret Garden. Pair them with a pastry or dessert item to experience the full richness in flavor of these bold coffees. this little coffee shop is a Hidden Gem in Fairfax. this coffee shop even has pour over and it seems like the owner really takes his craft seriously. I ordered an iced honey latte and usually when I ordered this drink the Baristas would pour the honey in after the coffee which makes all the honey Clump up at the bottom of the cup. I can tell the Barista carefully thinks these drinks through because he puts the honey in the expresso cup when the expresso comes hot out of the machine so it softens all the honey and he can thoroughly mix it before pouring it in the cup. I have yet met a barista who can make this drink correctly and so I am pleasantly surprised. when drinking this coffee you can taste all of the coffee it's like the main show of the drink. unlike chain coffee shops like Starbucks where the main show is the syrup and you get a hint of coffee here it's the other way around. Just a great coffee place. I've been there easily over 10 times and plan to keep returning ad it is the best coffee place in the area in my humble opinion. I always go for one of the great rotating pour overs (there are usually 2 or 3 on any given day), but they also have lots of your typical coffee options like cappacino and mocha etc., as well as some teas. Options for non-dairy creamers are usually available (occasionally Amir forgets the supply is out). Based on customer feedback, they recently expanded their food options beyond simple baked goods to some sort of breakfast sandwich I think. The atmosphere of this place is what a coffee shop should be in my opinion: relatively quiet, save for the relaxed background music, nice staff, clean, and some natural light so I know I'm not in a dungeon. If there is any slight negative, it's just that seating space is somewhat limited (probably has seating for about 15 if you include the bar). And I don't consider this a negative, but if you're just looking for regular drip coffee, I think they stop serving it around 10am, or at least they used to. read more

I wanted an iced vanilla soy latte , it said on their menu that they have soy milk , but the guy at the register said they only have almond milk , which wasn't even written on the menu... but I got it with almond milk since I drove all the way there I wasn't going to leave without trying this place. The owner made it, made it with regular milk , I'm glad I noticed before drinking because I'm allergic to milk, they should be more careful about that especially since he is the owner. I told him I asked for almond milk , he seemed irritated and told me he was not told to make it with almond milk but that's not my fault , the issue was that the guy who took my order did not tell the owner the correct order. He reluctantly remade it with almond milk. It tasted so watery , not sweet at all , very bitter. My friend got a vanilla latte , said it was watery as well. I was glad that I was finally in the area to try this place out! The coffee shop is spacious and clean and I loved the jazz music that played in the background. There are, I think 4 or 5 pourover coffees offered and I got no.1 which was from Brazil (the name escapes me). It was so good! The coffee was nice and bold with a slight acidity about it. It coated my mouth nicely and was very smooth. The owner Amir, who is quite friendly and seems like a genuine guy, gets your cup of coffee ready using the pourover method (which takes like 5 min). I took the first sip and lets just say I was in love. It had been a while since I had a good cup of coffee. All the beans are direct trade and the price is very reasonable! I just loved it so much I also got the mocha and I loved the leaf design. I missed seeing such artwork and was definitely pleased when I saw it. The mocha was balanced nicely!
