Couple of weekends ago, the weather seemed just right for a long Harley ride! I told my man Daniel that I'd like to go somewhere, anywhere, that we hadn't been in a while. He obliged-actually he outdid himself- and treated me to an awesome adventure to Crescent City, Florida! I'd never been there, so that made it extra special! Daniel wanted to take me to a restaurant he'd been before with his riding group...3 Bananas. The trip there was mucho fun! I'm a country girl, grew up on a farm. Although I've lived in Jax for more than half my life now, and am pretty city-fied... going back to my roots is always special. The ride to Crescent City was filled with abundant wildlife (roosters, bulls, cows, horses); wide green fields of fruit & grain, and so many trees! One of the best parts of riding is the smells...oh the backyard cookouts and pig roasts, and during this time of year-fire pits and bonfires, the heavenly smoky scent wafting in the air...!! Okay. I know, this is supposed to be a review about where we went, not how we got there lol. But I promise, it's worth the trip! So we arrive at 3 Bananas and there are a few motorcycles parked out front. Don't let that deter you if you're not into bikes or looking for a family atmosphere. Plenty of every day cage riders (cage is biker-talk for a car) were there, and besides, most of us biker types are a friendly sort! As soon as we pulled up, I heard 70's music playing inside and I knew we were at the right place! So we decided to sit on the screened porch overlooking the Crescent River. The music was not too loud-we could actually carry on a conversation-a huge plus! We chose several appetizers instead of entrees. The Creamy Crab & Shrimp Dip...the Pirate Fries...and the Buffalo Shrimp. Everything arrived very quickly and the service was just about perfect. The seafood dip was cream cheese based and served hot with warm grilled pita bread. WOW. I don't know if 3 Bananas makes their own pita bread or what, but it was absolutely divine, and a great accompaniment to the delicious dip. I never met a shrimp I didn't like! And the Buffalo Shrimp was tasty. Not the best I ever had, but not bad. The Buffalo sauce was a medium-hot. We asked for blue cheese dressing with the shrimp and I have to say, it was the thickest, creamiest, most tangy Blue Cheese ever! Tasted like homemade. On to the Pirate Fries. This mountain of straight cut medium size potatoes was covered with crumbled bacon, jalapeno (could always ask for jalapenos to be left off if that doesn't please your palate) and plenty of ooey gooey melted cheddar! Mmmm. Typical bar food, yes, but you really can't go wrong with this choice. 3 Bananas is one of those places you don't have to worry about what you're wearing. Porch seating is mostly picnic tables. Rolls of paper towel for napkins. Outside looks like it's probably hopping with boats and partiers in the summer-there is indeed a dock where you can tie up your water ride, as well as a bar at the end of the dock. Maybe one day we'll go back and try something different. You should go too! read more

Hard Pass. WAY over priced, garbage frozen food and horrible service. They literally charged for a packet of sour mayonnaise for my cold fries LOL. Other silly up charges I've never heard of on top of already over priced food. Nice view though. read more

Beer prices are too high. Serve good food and people will flock there. Great location and you feel at home but we have stopped going there due to the poor quality of the food. Most people I talk to feel the same. Last time I went I had the fried oysters and they were not edible. Told the waitress and she just shrugged it off. Hope to hear from someone that the food improves and the beer prices go down. So off we will go to Renegades [dollar beers]in the afternoon or the Eagles.Better improve or someone else is going to come to town and put you out of business. The food is terrible! I got the fried catfish platter the catfish is a frozen shingle with no flavor something that is sold at a high school cafeteria. The coleslaw is not fresh the tartar sauce is not fresh I mean they do not make anything fresh from what I've seen. My wife had the chicken tacos and the salsa taste like canned salsa and the chicken was cubed up like it was already pre-cooked and they destroyed in the microwave to heat it up. The only positive thing I had to say is the waitress was very attentive and has an amazing view. I will stop back for drinks but will definitely not order anything from the menu read more

Looking for a lunch spot, and this was perfect! Great view to start...nice selections of beer (and a cider!) on tap. Lunch was very good...I had the chicken wrap and my husband had the catfish dinner. The portions are the perfect size...just enough to go with a couple of adult beverages. The fish breading is great...light and not salty. The potato fries are served with a honey butter...best combo ever! Potato salad and slaw were also very good. Definitely coming back. read more

Went to this place for the first time in 13 years. NOT IMPRESSED!! Paid $16.99 for a lb of U-Peel shrimp. They were not local shrimp, farm raised Asian shrimp. The salads were gross. Not fresh. Tasted like they were pre-made and in the fridge for a very long time. The excuse was "New Ownership". This could be a great place in the right hands. It is very disturbing that they are on the water and serving substandard seafood. read more

Had lunch on an overcast Friday afternoon. We were a little past the lunch "rush hour" so there were very few customers. Service was great. Waitress was very attentive and provided great food recommendations and continuous attention to our drink refills. We had corn fritters as a starter and then burgers. The fritters were average. About golf-ball sized hush puppies with a few kernels of corn inside. Good, not great. The burgers--one swiss cheese burger and one patty melt--were great. Burgers were juicy and tasty cooked exactly like we asked. Both came with a side. We chose curly fries. I also had a side salad. In a stroke of genius, the waitress brought a large bowl with the small salad. This allowed me to pour the salad into the larger bowl, add the dressing and "toss" to my liking. Nice touch by the attentive staff. We sat on the patio with a cool breeze. Seating overlooks the lake and was a very nice atmosphere. Be sure to check the hours as 3-Bananas is NOT open EVERY night for dinner. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have visited 3 bananas twice and I think it's a local treasure. I don't live in the area but we've had occasion to drive by crescent City. Really nice location on the water. The building seems to be a converted house and had a lot of local photos and memorabilia as the decor. The menu was solid bar/grill fare with a seafood twist. This place isn't fancy you get a roll of papertowels on your table if that gives you an idea.... but just the type of local place i like to go to. check it out! read more

Awesome little dive bar with great food!!! I had a salad, crab cake special, then a cold beer. The food was delicious, great selection of beer on tap, all with a beautiful view looking over a giant lake. They have a wrap around patio overlooking the lake! Breakfast review: Don't waste your time and money. There was only one other group of people in the place and they were almost done eating. We ordered pretty quickly but the food took a very long time to come out. It may have been sitting awhile as most of it was cold. The two eggs seemed like smalls. The hash browns were like McDonald's but with a slight fishy taste. We got one slice of toast with each meal. I have never gotten less the two slices anywhere. The iced tea tasted awful. Home fries were well done and the sausage patties were dry. It would've been nice to have a nice breakfast place with a great view close by but they lost our business. read more

I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon and the food was wonderful, staff were very pleasant, and the views were breathtakingly beautiful. Very charming building and business. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a good meal made and served by good people. read more

It's a nice looking spot lake in the back. Seemed promising and we were starving. I ordered a salad and my sons food with some drinks and an app. The peach margarita was disappointing, and the banana mudslide drink was weak. After a little I ordered some food. My food got to the table b4 my apps and my sons food. I had to remind the waitress, which surprisingly is a manager. It was sitting on the window. Very upsetting, I didn't want my appetizers anymore. my son hungry was scarfing down my girlfriends fries. Buffalo shrimp- just skip it. Fried chicken wrap was all lettuce. Will not come back. Worst seafood I have had in quite some time. Clams were tuff, couldn't even bite them. Ones I could were chewy. Shrimp had funny taste and the fish was this solid board with no flavor. Don't have a clue what the coating is they fried the fish in to make it solid. Out of the seafood platter, the slaw, sweet potato fries, beer and service was the only things good. I did let the waitress know (and she could see I didn't eat much) but management didn't care. Lessons learned especially if I move here. read more

Just had lunch there today. Delish! Our server, Shelby, was friendly and efficient. We started off with their tasty clam chowder which was perfect for this cold day. Then two different types of chopped sirloin hamburgers were ordered. I had the blue cheese and coleslaw burger and my husband, the regular tomato, lettuce and onion. Both were superb. This place was a complete surprise to me and I've been traveling up and down Highway 17 for years! It's a great place on the lake with inside and open air seating - just a neat place for a casual meal. Highlights for me were the Bloody Mary, the fish sandwich and the sweet potato fries. Love the place come here once a week, If you near Crescent City, FL, proceed to the only stop light in town and turn toward the lake, at the end of the street and stop at 3 Bananas, it's a "Jimmy Buffet" type of place with great burgers, wings, and wraps, the view is tremendous and if you own a boat they docking facilities..They only accept CASH no credit cards, but do have an ATM onsite. read more

I've just found an oasis. Tranquility and beauty with a full service restaurant and bar located on Lake Crescent. Live music on the dock on weekends. We happened to catch an amazing reggae band that added to the ambience. They offer a full menu, but I ordered the prime rib sandwich special (the house speciality sells out quickly) and was certainly pleased. The service is excellent,very friendly. They offer free docking so if you're out on the boat, stop by for a Malibu punch and a great time. read more

You would think that with the high price list you would serve your guests with proper dinner ware. I ordered the combo platter, the fish and oysters were over cooked so bad that they were too hard to eat. If you are going for drinks then this is the place for you. Worst service we have ever had at a restaurant. Starting from the time we entered today and had to find our own seating. It was clear they were busy but our friends who have been here many times said it was worth the wait. No problem placing our order for beverages to start from there it went down hill. Finally our order after flagging down our waitstaff was taken after 1 and one half hours I saw a table of 2 people get up and walk out without receiving their meal. When two tables of 6 each who arrived after us received their meals we were upset. We again flagged down our server and said if our food doesn't come in 10 minutes we would leave. 20 minutes later our food came. Mine missing coleslaw and silverware and my friend received food she didn't order. By the time we could tell the server we had almost finished eating so she declined to wait for the right meal. They did remove uneaten meal from check. At this point my husband told server he was giving her a full tip even though he didn't feel she deserved one. She gave a half hearted apology and blamed service on a party of 30 being in the restaurant. She asked if we wanted to talk to the manager...yes. The manager was clearly annoyed and also blamed our poor service on the party of 30. Well that would explain everone getting their meals late in the order taken. No explanation for the two tables who placed their orders after our table of 4 getting their food way ahead of us. She further insulted us by saying one meal was compted... really? She never ate the meal!!!!! We expressed we would never return and she basically told us we were losing out because their food is so good. Well in my opinion it was mediocre at best. We had a horrendous experience starting with the waitress when she welcomed us by saying, "sit wherever you want." The waitress didn't give us a hint of smile or friendliness---she took our order. An hour goes by, we're getting antsy, we see her talking to other tables. But not ours. My son finished his soda, not once she came to refill it or give us the assurance that our food is coming. They were out of the fish special on a Friday night. I got there 5:15 p.m. There were only 7 customers in there. They do not have very many menu items and I think their items are overpriced. They do not have onion rings. The food was hot and the service was good even though it took a long time to cook. For the price of dinners, it surprised me to have cheap paper as a table cloth. I did not care for this place a few months ago, but decided to give it another chance. I won't be going back. read more
