Everytime I eat here the food a bomb!!! Always hot and fresh :. The portions are out of this world they give you sooo much food. The reviews on here is ridiculous because out of all the jerk spots in Chicago this is by far the best they got the best jerk spicy sauce none of the restaurants in Chicago got don't nobody want that sweet jerk sauce and the portions are good.. all these other restaurants in Chicago don't be giving you that much on the portion side and this is a hood gem fr I love their oxtails fire!! I wasn't really hungry, but when I walked in here to pick up a delivery order and asked for an eta and stated that my battery was low, the person at the cash register grabbed my phone and threw it on to charge. With kindness like that I decided that I had to give them a play (and I'd had a crappy lunch experience and I can always eat and it smelled so good in there!) The customer order was going to be awhile so I ordered one whole chicken, dark. So so so good! And such a value! I was handed the bag containing the chicken and potatoes and exclaimed "it's heavy!!" Response, "that's good, right?" Yes, that's very good. The smothered potatoes were pretty good too but The Chicken! That's the star. The Packaging and presentation was everything. Good Portions of food. Everything is separated properly in the packaging so it didn't compromise the integrity of the other sides. The chicken is very juicy and flavorful. The Jerk sauce isn't too spicy and adds a nice blend of flavor and spices to the chicken so it's not too overbearing on the meal. The macaroni is good, not too much it's simple. The cabbage isn't super seasoned but it's cooked well. With the jerk sauce on it, it was perfect. The rice was a little hard in my opinion. I was craving Jamaican jerk chicken and I've been wanting to try 3Ds for a while now. We called in our order and the phone was answered right away and didn't wait long when I arrived to get our food. We ordered their jerk chicken dinner with candy yams, rice and beans, and cabbage. You get a lot of food and you'll have enough for leftovers. The yams and cabbage were tasty. The rice and peas were ok but I've had way better. The chicken wasn't too bad, was was missing the smoky flavor that jerk chicken needs. What really through me off was the black sauce that was covering the chicken. Not really sure exactly what it was but I've never seen that on any other jerk chicken plates at other locations. It honestly ruined the plate. One thing that saved it was that tiny little container of hot sauce. It was extremely spicy and added that heat that the plate was lacking. Nasty! I was reluctant to order because of the 3 1/2 stars but we went ahead and ordered. Don't you be a fool and disregard those stars. To be on the safe side I ordered jerk steak- yuck. I don't even like their jerk sauce. Also didn't think you could mess up a steak but they did. We checked substitute to get the Mac got all potatoes which wasn't even an option so hoooow?! Gross unseasoned potatoes at that. I'm guessing the f'd up my food on purpose at that. Just sent the Uber driver a bunch with what they wanted to give us and went home. The total was like $27.00. I was like okayyy not bad! I had a t-bone dinner mind you.. I loved how heavy the containers felt. Felt like I was carrying two three liters. They give you a lot of food!!!! Niceee! I get home to see each Styrofoam container was wrapped in Seran Wrap with a fork and napkins placed on the top in the Seran Wrap. I love how they paid attention to detail!!!! The T-Bone was massive as hell it was cooked well done (well it is Jerk) but was pretty tender. It was kinda salty. The smothered potatoes had good flavor. The Mac and Cheese had good flavor but it was dry. Like not a speck of cheese sauce or cheese was found. I wish the Mac was cheesy. That would have made this dinner much better. My husbands Jerk Chicken was kinda dry still tasty. Maybe because I didn't eat it until an hour later. Smoked chicken yes. Jerk chicken it is not. Aside from the breast being very dry, 3D's makes solid chicken that is nicely charred. The Jerk flavor was not prevalent and the sauce served on the side is terrible. I suspect it's watered down Liquid Smoke with Jerk spices. Luckily, I had a bottle of authentic Jerk sauce at the cribbo and was able to make due. Disappointing because I was really craving Jerk chicken. There is a saying that you cannot do the same thing again and expect different results. With this in mind, I reluctantly returned to 3-D on Sunday 3/20/16 for a steak special. Ordering by phone the second go around was less painful in that, given my first experience, I did not expect any pleasantries. I set out to place the order and give my name. Nothing more, nothing less. However, during this call, the person on the other end exhibited more warmth and patience than before. He took the order, repeated the order and said it would be ready in 30 minutes. When I arrived to pick up the order, I was immediately greeted and acknowledged. And as stated, it was ready in 30 minutes. How's that for service?!?!?? As I tore through the plastic, the reminiscent thoughts of my tilapia dinner tried to take root, leading me to be less enthused the second time around. But my first bite into each item on the plate provided a welcomed attitude adjustment. I could not believe how tasty it was! The Steak dinner with smothered potatoes and Mac n cheese is absolutely delicious!!! I did not use the jerk sauce or A1. Is it worth a drive to an unfamiliar enclave, parking on a street with flashing surveillance boxes and being served through a bulletproof turn-style which is a clear depiction of the realities in this part of the city? Decided to try this place for lunch. Ordered Tilapia with yams, cabbage and rice & peas. In all honesty it tasted like someone's trying to pass this off as authentic. The seasoning just wasn't "seasonin'. Everything except the yams (didn't try) was under flavored. The rice & peas tasted undercooked and not freshly made. Cabbage was so-so. Terrible customer service, I've ordered the same food multiple times and NEVER receive my shrimp that comes With my order. I called the last time to let them kno once again they forgot my shrimp, and when I told the guy on the phone which I assume was some kind of manager, o was asked to send him a pic of my food. When I explained that I'd eaten it all before I realized that there was no shrimp, he challenged me by asking why I would eat "MY PURCHASED" food without calling them to say something first, i was appalled and instantly Let them know that I'd be posting a review ASAP. I too am a business owner so I wouldn't play those kind of games at a black owned establishment especially. They have lost me as a customer. I had a hr drive home and waited till I got home to eat it, but it smelled so good in the car. I had give 3 stars based on the order system and not being attentive of their own menu options. Called in my order for a lunch special, when they opened at one... A half chicken lunch special with rice/beans, yams, and cabbage. I arrived 45 mins later, too a line of people who also called in. They need too start taking names, last four of the phone number, or ticket numbers. Because I expect my food when I get there and not given anything. My order had no cabbage, but a wonderfully large helping of yams. A better ordering system could've prevented this small error. And too be told, there is no lunch special at 1:45pm is not acceptable, when the order was placed as a lunch special. The chicken was awesome. Very moist and seasoned excellent. No complaints about that chicken. The yams were delicious, sweet and cooked just right, but I had too much. No complaints about the yams. I'm sure the cabbage is great, had I received them.
