Well it's been awhile since I've been here, but I'm glad to report it hasn't changed! The food and service is as great as I remember! My sister and I decided to stop for lunch after a busy morning. We were seated quickly and promptly served chips and 3 bowls of salsa 1: so mild it could be eaten by anyone 2: ok that's pretty darn good! Then we get to the green guy.... little back story my sister likes it spicy she lived in Cozumel for over 7 years as a bilingual teacher and the mean green was even a bit too spicy for HER! You have been warned. We both got the enchilada lunch plate and for a measly $8.50 you get a generous 3 cheese enchiladas, beans rice and guacamole salad. Note the beans were pretty bland, but that's just my one opinion and I don't judge a place on their beans, I do however judge them on their enchiladas and they hit a home run! They score a 10/10 on enchiladas! And the best part of today's lunch.... was finding out that the chef sings while he cooks! That alone creates an ambiance I've never experienced anywhere else! Forget the troubadours, give me a chef that sings while he cooks and the food will ALWAYS taste better because it proves he's doing what he loves. Happy eating y'all ;-) read more

The food here is quite delicious! Someone once said, " I've never seen someone unhappy eating Mexican food!" and I concur! I have never eaten here before and wanted to try food from somewhere I've never been. I had the beef enchiladas- 4/5. They were definitely delicious after pouring a little bit of salsa on them. One thing about the enchiladas at most Mexican food is they don't add enough seasoning to their meat. If you love cheese this is the dish for you. They smothered those delicious enchiladas in a blanket of cheese. Chile con queso- 4/5 this is a delicious dip to put your freshly fried tortilla chips in. This was very good but I had better. Rice and beans~ 5/5 I can't remember receiving a bad dish of rice and refried beans. I mix mine together . The ones here were delicious. Was conducting business in the area and had a craving for Mexican food. My usual spot was a bit too far away and I needed my hunger satisfied at once! Ordered the chicken chimichanga dish, alas to go. Came with the standard chips and dipping sauces (the green and spicier red one), beans rice and melted American or velveeta cheese all over the chimichanga. That was a 1st. Usually it's a type of tomato sauce on top, not cheese. Oh well. The appearance of the dipping sauce was not the best, but the taste was absolutely on point. The portions were very generous. Only downside was the guacamole. It was brown, hence its freshness was gone. The staff was kind and polite, will maybe dine in if I'm in the area to see if the freshness of the guacamole is different, and get a better vibe of the place. Fantastic! This place was hoppin' the Friday night we went. They have a small bar area with high top table seating along with the main dining area with lower tables and chairs. It's a small restaurant, but they're apparently doing something right! Groups of people gathered to dine and fun was had by all from my observation. I would classify this place as a "hole-in-the-wall" on the upside. The patrons were well dressed, the establishment was clean and the energy was high. They had a man playing the guitar and, what looked to be his son, playing the accordion. That piece of our experience gave it the old school Mexican mariachi restaurant feeling I haven't had in a long time. That was a common find in the 80's and early 90's, but hard to find these days. It was pretty cool. We were greeted by our waitstaff within a couple minutes with chips and 3 salsas, hence the name of the restaurant. They give you 2 reds and 1 creamy green salsa. All were good, but the green one is the spicy jalapeño sauce that is hot, but so tasty you can't stop eating it. The chips were warm and perfect weight for dipping. I ordered a frozen margarita with salt. It was good and complimented my chips perfectly. We ordered the trio fajitas for 2: chicken, beef and shrimp. Our meal arrived steaming, within 20 minutes (perfect time to enjoy the chips and the first margarita) and served with rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole. I figured the shrimp, being the priciest item on the platter would be skimpy, but I was wrong. There were 6 big shrimp along side of the good portions of chicken, beef and grilled onions. Everything was delicious! The meats were flavorful and tender. We were very impressed! Finally, the check... $54.00, including our tip (and 2 margaritas), for all of the above! Great prices!! Another near by Gem. I came here with my dad on a friday night before the movies. He has always told me about this place but was skeptical because of the 3 1/2 star rating others gave this place. I ordered the house margarita (regular). I also shared the combination fajitas with beef, chicken and pork. First off.. the 3 salsas they give you.. they really are delicious. Perfect name for this little mexican spot. They give you a pretty solid portion on the fajitas as well! The pork was super dry and hard to chew.. other than that everything else was tasty! Great spot for when you're in the neighborhood. If I'm not mistaken, this is the same place I knew 10+ years ago. If so, it's been through a lot and keeps on keeping on for the neighborhood. Between all the times I've been, my parents have been and told me about it, or how often they've compared it to other places I've taken them to outside of the Houston area, I can't say I've come across a dish I would call bad. For me, TXMX is about the rice and beans and they always nail it. As for the three salsas, love them all but the green sauce has a bit too much cream for my taste/texture preference. Pandemic note - staff is wearing masks but outdoor seating, while available, looks like where the smokers take their breaks. No thanks. Why not a 5? I think a lot of folks may prefer a more lively atmosphere, I tend do. Plus a few less fried items and more fresh (more like home Mexican food I suppose) items on the menu. read more

Great pricing, best service I've had in a very long time (although I went at 3pm on a Friday), and the food was great! The only reason they received a less than perfect review is the area. The parking lot is super sketchy and you're likely to run into someone asking for money. As the name implies, this Mexican restaurant gives you 3 different salsas with your chips. The best of the three is the green spicy avocado salsa for me. The other two I really didnt care for. One was like the juice from Charros beans and the red salsa was boring. I went with mexicano tacos which were great but some of the beef was like rubber. The chicken was ok. The drink menu as well as their margaritas aren't great. I ordered something that required a staff discussion which was concerning as im not sure I got what I paid for. I would not come back for drinks. The interior is a bit homestyle and plain. Overall very average restaurant. Solely done pick-up every time I've eaten from here. I have only tried the fajitas but plenty of times. Food is brilliant for the price. Plentiful amount of beans, rice, pico de gallo, and sauces. Only downside is the avocado is quite literally just smashed avocado - no flavor to it. Still, a lot of it. Classic fajitas that are cooked well. Good amount of meat, onions, and peppers. Here's a Great little Mexican food restaurant that is set back in an L shaped strip center at the corner of Highway 6 N. and Clay Rd. in Houston, Texas. I know they've been here for at least 25 years. The owner Arturo, is there most every evening to help with anything that the public needs. In Scott clean restaurants and nice small bar, flatscreen TVs throughout dish probably sheets about 70 people. Here's the best part, his food is really good from nachos and chimichangas to Hispanic cook T-bone steaks dessert of flan and Tres leches cake. My favorite is a deluxe dinner which includes a Cold plate of a taco, a cheese puff shell, guacamole and lettuce and tomato. Just about the time you're finished with that plate, you get a hot plate of two ground beef enchiladas, lots of Spanish rice and refried beans or if you prefer, Charro beans. As with every restaurant of this type, there are chips and here you get 3 Salsas. It's all very good and worth a try. Alcoholic beverages are provided upon request so you better get ready for a good margarita. Any type of drink you can think of is available. Kids dinners available and kids are welcome. There's Medium noise in the restaurant but you could watch a soccer game or a Tele novella. Check it out, it's good. I'm in here on an average of 3 to 5 times a month.
