I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anybody. I'm not one to leave a bad review but first off the service was horrible our waitress was behind the bar the whole time and barley came to check on us, we basically had to chase her down to put in our orders or ask for drinks. I put that aside, but then that night ended up with food poisoning and had to go to the hospital. I had sushi that probably went bad or wasn't kept in the right temperature condition. I was sick all night and the next day. Then called to speak to the manager and explained how I never complain, but I ended up with food poisoning after eating sushi and his response was I highly doubt that you had food poisoning from us and then wished me goodluck. Horrible customer service and horrible management. Don't waste your time coming here. read more

Especially the pizza; we have like three good pizzerias already in town (used to be four but vinny left the state to retire), and they're up in here trying to upsell their sweet-sauced abomination??? I've been to this place twice now. The first time was overwhelmingly mediocre with below-average service but a nice atmosphere. I figured, hey, it's new... they'll get it together. Fast forward to my most recent visit yesterday and sadly it seems to have gotten worse. Arrive at the hostess station and ask for seating outside. First hostess says we have to wait for the other hostess to help us. Other hostess shows up 5 minutes later and says there is a private event outside and offers window seating instead. Probably not in their best interest to host private events on the entire and only outdoor seating section. But hey, things happen and was totally willing to overlook that. 15 minutes go by before a server comes to our table. We order pretty simple drinks (glass of wine, vodka, scotch). They don't arrive for a good 20 minutes. Meanwhile the people next to us arrive after us and are already happily drinking their drinks (same server). Anyway, the drinks arrive and we immediately put in an order for an appetizer pizza and order our food at the same time after seeing how slow things would likely be. The menu is also very limited and they don't offer any specials. Pizza arrives another 20 minutes later. Go to take a bite of the (soggy) pizza and the entrees are already being brought out. The servers response? "Oh I'm sorry, the kitchen must really be on fire tonight!" No... you mistimed everything. This is basic stuff... you fire your entree after the appetizers are brought out. The salmon and bass sizes were laughable, maybe 4oz if that. We had to send a filet Mignon back because it was like a hockey puck (we asked for medium rare). The server also brought out the wrong glass of wine the second time we ordered drinks. Her response? "Oh I went to a different bar for it..." Why does that make a difference? The food was lukewarm, at best. Nothing was done to make the situation right; for the price we paid in drinks and entrees you'd think we at least would get an apology from the manager. The icing on the cake was the 20 minutes it took the valet folks to get our car. $5 to park, unless you were part of the "corporate party" in the back (the 8-10 people they blocked the patio off for). Overall a VERY disappointing experience with the service and food. It's a shame because it's actually a really nice place. I really love what they are doing to downtown Ossining but if theyre going to charge the prices they do and offer terrible service and food this place is not going to last very long. I'll try again when new management or ownership takes it over. I give it less than a year unless they get it together somehow. Two stars just solely based on the views. Mixed review here. Went Saturday evening 1/27/18, 6:30 pm group of six. Heads up groups 6 or larger 20% gratuity added to your tab. Location: nice location on river with what it appears to have nice outside dining during warm weather. Not sure about parking during the week since it is close to train station and parking is limited. Train station parking during weekend is free. Service: ordinary, nothing special, not bad just average. Servers should not be handling used flatware of patrons since they are touching other folks them coming to your table and touching yours, without hand washing??!! Hey it's flu season folks! Menu: nice selection, something for everyone. Not over the top but solid selection. Preparation: I had a fried chicken sandwich and felt is was prepared well, lot of flavor, fresh rolls which were tasty. Burgers, meh. Burgers were burnt outside, my daughter's had a hair in it and that sort of set tone for her. My wife and other daughter felt similarly, fortunately no hair! Appetizers were very good. Price: fairly priced for Westchester dining. We did not partake in any drinks so can't comment. Summary: Overall good ambience/location. Good menu. Don't get a burger. Worth a look because we could have had a bad night. Follow up: Management of establishment did contact me. Lots to be said about that, in a good way! Went this evening for the first time and the food was excellent. Finally, a decent restaurant in the community. Highly recommend the grilled octopus. Lite, fresh, flavorful and not rubbery. Fried calamari was delicious, lightly fried , excellent Thai sauce and o so fresh. Thumbs up for the drinks. Nice portions and you could actually taste the alcohol. Parking was difficult - ended up parking at the train station ($5) while a valet podium remained unattended . Hostess was rude and condescending. No reservations for outside patio tables, and a long wait while 5 tables were empty for at least 20 minutes. Ribs appetizer at the bar came out cold. Bartender took 15 minutes to close our bill after taking our credit card. Our ice cream dessert was melted by the time we found someone to bring over some silverware. If you want a stunning setting in the Hudson with good food, this is your place... as long as you don't mind stuff like that. I really wanted to like this place. Stuck in Ossining without a plan and a reservation, my family and I retreated to 3 Westerly Bar and Grill, a restaurant we had eaten at the previous summer. As soon as you step into the restaurant the first thing you notice is the beautiful view outside of the large glass windows of the Hudson River and the small park that surrounds the waterfront. There was a bit of a wait for outside parking but we found that sitting inside was just as enjoyable with the amount of light coming into the space. We had an amazing server, I wish I remembered his name but he was so attentive, quick and made sure everything was perfect the entire meal. I dropped my fork and it was immediately scooped up and replaced. The table was wiped down for us between courses and our drinks were refilled promptly without us even having to ask. 3 Westerly Bar and Grill has amazing food. It's so good. Seriously. Try the calamari appetizer, it's phenomenal. It has a slight twist with the sweet and sour sauce and I wanted to lick the plate for more. The portion sizes are on the smaller side for the price, but it is a waterfront restaurant. The quality of the food is great, the view is unbeatable and the service was impeccable. We will definitely be returning probably for our 3rd visit soon! read more

This is a good place for groups and your family. Reasonable fare. Truffle pizza has been fantastic each time. Restaurant staff from valets to greeters to wait staff is super friendly. My cousin suggested this place after being here so many times and enjoying the food. This place has a really nice scenery for dinner and it made the dining experience fun. We got a table outside and the only downside was the amount of flies there was outside near the tables. Luckily they left after a certain amount of time but I really wish they had candles on the tables to make them stay away or something. My cousins and I all ordered sushi and I'm not the type to like seafood but I really really enjoyed my shrimp tempura roll that had tuna. I devoured my roll and I was left stuffed!! One of my cousins order a double tuna roll and she said it was the best sushi she's had in a while. If you're going for dinner make a reservation! This place is an Ossining treasure. Right on the waterfront and it's gorgeous. Outdoor dining with an outdoor bar. A path to walk around and benches near the water. Unobstructed views of the sunset. It gets very crowded and the outdoor bar is small. The indoor bar is huge. You can eat at either bar. Don't feel you must eat dinner here, it's fine to just hang out at the bar. If you do eat here, the food is very good. The Caesar salad had thick chunks of smokey bacon and the 3 cheese pizza with pesto was delish. The service was excellent and the wait wasn't long even though it was crowded. Based on other earlier reviews they just needed a little time to work out the kinks. Most savvy hip people know not to expect too much from a brand new restaurant anyway. Well, it's not brand new anymore and it will become THE place to go in or near Ossining. Pleeeeze, don't let the Ossining address affect your decision to come here. I guarantee you'll be very happy. I took one star away because they charge $5 to valet park your car. That was ridiculous. Also, the outdoor dining area had some stupid annoying music playing. First visit - definitely last. Party of six, we arrived at 5:30 PM with the place basically empty but still had to plead for a table. Server Carly was nice at the beginning; she knew one of us from middle school. Downhill from there! I asked the busboy in Spanish to keep the water flowing but had to beg for a glass each time. Two of us were served a personal pizza and the other four were kept waiting fifteen minutes. My chicken sandwich was covered in cheese which I didn't realize was part of it and the manager made me feel as if he did me a favor by taking it back. My goddaughter order a $46 filet mignon MEDIUM that came out bleeding and sent it back; it took nearly a half hour for her to be served and everyone else was done. I told the manager that in a restaurant of that caliber you always comp a dish you screwed up and he refused, then of course threw in my face how lucky I was to get my chicken sandwich taken off the bill because "there was nothing wrong with it." Basically this is a place in a "luxury" building in an area TRYING to gentrify after historically being "average" or less. It pretends to be a five-star Manhattan establishment but falls very, very short of its goal. It was my goddaughter's birthday and we didn't even stay for dessert; we got a cake and took it home. Then there was a "mandatory" 20% gratuity for parties of six or more and guess what; yes, it's on the menu but the print is SO MICROSCOPIC at the bottom of the menu that it almost looks like a graphic. Normally I would never penalize a server for mediocre food (though the service was nothing to shout about either) but I was so incensed at the refusal to comp the $46 steak ordeal that I felt compelled to reduce the tip to basically comp it myself. I persuaded the manager to remove the $66 mandatory tip and left $10 instead. The bill was $358 for five dinners and some insanely overpriced glasses of wine. Honestly we could have gone to one of the finest restaurants in midtown Manhattan, spent less and had a much better evening. Sorry, Westerly, tonight was a total disaster. Fruit flies everywhere. My son couldn't finish his sprite which I tasted as we were about to leave and it was a disgusting sweet syrup. We were a party of 6. My sister and I each order a sushi entree and they brought them both together on one plate (odd no?). 20% tip on food and alcohol was automatically added to the bill. I went here last night with my husband we for Restaurant Week. The food was thoroughly enjoyable we started off with the wagyu sushi and it was amazing the shrimp tempura roll was good, and the muscles were yum. ( I thought the muscle sauce was a bit salty, but my husband liked it it was tasty.) This is our first visit to 3 Westerly & definitely will not be our last. The restaurant is new and very comfortable, the staff is very attentive and professional. Our drinks were fantastic (I had the Fig & Sprig). Our appetizers were also very good, As good as they were though, there should have been more per serving. My wife had the fried calamari which was great , but not enough to share. I had the Crunchy Rice Cakes, a great starter , but definitely not enough. We had the Salmon dinner from the Restaurant Week menu , again a fantastic meal, lots of flavor. The only problem was my wife's piece of salmon was almost half the size of mine. The only other disappointment was that they ran out of mussels for their appetizer & the offered Mac & cheese as a replacement . Will we be back , DEFINITELY! read more

TVs were facing us throughout the meal with acne cream and medical ads. Once there was even a medical procedure shown. When we asked about turning them off we were told it was out of the question. Seriously?? At 12:00 on a Sunday morning? It wasn't a sports event. There were medical infomercials. Really unappetizing. Also the place was extremely loud and cold. But the medical procedures on tv as we tried to enjoy our brunch were untenable. All this was happening as we were eating and celebrating a birthday. Waitstaff was friendly but the wait for the food was much too long. Let me start with saying that in my lifetime I have had a number of bad experiences and I have never ever felt the need to write a yelp review. After having a so - so experience at 3 westerly the week it opened, we decided to give it another try (mostly for the amazing view). When we visited in April, there was no table service @ the porch, so when we went this past week we walked in and right to the back seeing if we could snag a table to have a drink at. When we went to the back it was obvious they now had table service on the porch, so we turned back and went to the hostess. I was greeted with the most unfriendly girl ever who snapped at me about whether or not I had a reservation. When I explained that I did not, and that we were just planning on having a drink she turned her head and started helping someone else. I then interjected and said "excuse me but we saw a free table on the porch is there anyway we could sit out there, we didn't realize we could make reservations for our there now". She ignored me and another hostess said "yes that's open we can sit them out there" and the rude girl followed with " No I don't want to sit them". I was so stunned. The nicer girl then asked if we would mind sitting outside and I said that if there was a table outside we would sit there. Three days later I cannot believe the service. We were seated outside with an incredible view, which made up for the fact that no one came to take our drink order for over ten minutes. Waiting for a waiter gave us a lot of time to people watch, and while it's obvious there are a few hard workers (mainly two younger men - maybe college or high school who seem to never stop moving), the service really is just atrocious. read more

Apps $12 - $17 Salads $12 - $16 Pizza $13 - $21 (for a personal sized pie) Entrees $22 - $34 Sushi $7 - $18 *(see note) Sandwiches $13 - $17 Sides $7 - $8. You may be thinking the prices are a little high but not outrageous. Tell yourself that after you get the food. My Salad The lettuce looks like it was thrown on a plate by a toddler; in fact I'm pretty sure that my 3 yr old nephew could do a better job. Don't bother paying the extra $5 for the chicken unless you want 5 half inch squares of chicken on your plate. It's a rip off. (Look at the 3rd photo; top row 2nd page.) They had twice the chicken I had on my salad and at least their lettuce wasn't brown. One slice of Apple wood smoked bacon? I was told that the Burrata salad was good but I'm not a fan of just arugula. I asked if I could get a different lettuce and I was told no substitutions (subs). The French Dip $17 The French dip was bland... boring. The bread to meat ratio was abysmal. I would say that it was about 80% to 90% bread with the tiniest morsels of meat. The Au Jus part was like a bland salt lick. Meaning other than salt, there are no discernible flavors. The meat was so tough you couldn't bite through it. It was not liked by a single person at our table. Sushi / Wagyu Steak Tartare Sushi $18 *$7 for an avocado/cucumber roll is $2-$3 higher than most of the Japanese restaurants in the area. You think Ooo Wagyu steak! / Ooo Tartare. Right? Only adventurous eaters get tartare b/c its RAW! (I would like to direct your attention to page 3 of the photos - 5th; top row). Does that steak look raw to you??? NO its Cooked! Yes, I see the pink but then call it black and blue! Not Tartare. People love this dish? Why? Sushi grade tuna w/truffles, garlic and caviar, topped w/ wagyu steak. You are drowning out the Rolls Royce of both steak & tuna in such heavy flavors. Don't get me wrong I LOVE MY GARLIC and I LOVE MY TRUFFLES but when you have sushi grade tuna & wagyu beef you want to be able to taste the quality of those two ingredients. As my friend put it you're taking the Rolls Royce and putting a spoiler on the back of it. Overkill! Cocktails Cocktails were good. I had the Moscow Mule based off the recommendation of another yelp reviewer and I was happy with it, however all of our drinks were in disposable plastic cups. Buy some glassware. THE UGLY Service Ok here is what I don't get. We start at the bar and move to a table when it becomes available then promptly get ignored for about 30 mins. To be fair we started as the bar, so we had drinks...and while we were at that bar we had some wings from the happy hour special, that we carried to our table when we were seated. But wings aren't dinner for hungry customers. We are hungry and we want some real food. My friend tried to flag the waiter; she mentioned that she had been waiting 30 minutes for someone to take out order. The waiter said that we were being helped because we already had the wings and our drinks. We mentioned that we got them at the bar and he told us, and I quote "well the bartender was taking care of your table..." Wait what just happened? The bartender was taking care of our table? How often does a dedicated bartender come out from behind the bar and take orders and serve the food? If that is the case, than your restaurant is severely understaffed, or OR you have a really bad system for a sit down restaurant that should be rectified immediately. There were other excuses too: "I'm new" "I just got here" "Well you know I just started my shift" and "It's my first day". Can we back up for just a second? You are talking to 3 experienced waiters. The 3 of us combined have a total of approximately 9 -10 years of experience between us. If you count other food service then longer. If you are taking our orders without a pad we know its not your first day. And for argument sake if it was your first day - don't make excuses. Apologize, Reassure and Move On. It didn't help that after our drink order was taken it took another 15 minutes to get our drinks. Chef's ego So I understand when a chef states that they don't want subs on food items...I get it. You want the customer to understand your vision. You are sharing your passion. There is a concept and when its brilliant, food will make the senses tingle and the world will become brand new. Unfortunately, when you are throwing food on a plate, its not pretty. The food is lackluster, bland & zero thought went into the dishes. You should allow subs. Your ego as the chef doesn't trump my pallet. You are not eating the food.... I am. Break down There is a park behind the restaurant. Go pack yourself a lunch, sit on the bench and enjoy the views.
