Giant Pretzel and Dirty Mashed Potato
    Jackie K.

Went here Friday after work. It was busy. A mix of young people at the bar and families at the tables. The food came quickly. The pretzel was very good. Not too salty which was perfect. The dip wasn't that good though. The mashed potatoes were yummy. Definitely could have had 2 orders. The food was served hot.

Mice behind booths in the dining area

They have mice ! DONT NOT EAT HERE THEY HAVE MICE Do not eat there ! I confronted the manager about seeing two mice run across the dining room and he brushed me off , and told me " i know, we have been trying to catch them in the trap" Needless to say i asked for my check and left .

Great spot!!! This place is easy to drive right past but it's definitely worth checking out. Professional friendly staff, nice decor with art the pays homage to the local Westchester area, and the food is delicious. This place definitely has its "regulars", but I've never felt unwelcome. Check this place out if you find yourself in the Thornwood area. Enjoy!

    Short Rib Tacos

I really enjoyed eating here. We decided to share two entrées, the short rib taco entrée and the fish tacos. The fish was crispy and delicious. Loved it. ...BUT the best and most surprising thing was the short rib taco. Instead of using a flour tortilla, they used a melted cheese that was laced and held up as the taco shell! it was amazing and the short ribs were tender and delicious, as well. Loved the pickled red onion and the slaw on both. Waitress was great, really efficient and super nice and friendly. Overall, a wonderful experience. We will be back soon!

Came here for appetizers and drinks on a late Saturday afternoon. We ordered a bunch of small bites to share. The food was really good! I'm usually not a huge fan of buffalo sauce, but the buffalo cauliflower bites and the buffalo wontons were really yummy. The restaurant wasn't that busy for a Saturday. There were a few people sitting at the bar and maybe three or four other occupied tables. The waitress kept checking in on us which was great, but she seemed to be annoyed that we were there for a while. We continued ordering drinks and food while we were there, but she just didn't seem to be in a good mood. Overall the food and drinks are good. This place is definitely worth a try!

Covid pickup. Excellent service through Grubhub. I'm a big fan of the place. Love the food, the beer selection and I can't wait until they get live music happening. Spicy peanut sauce on the Tavern Wings and has to have a Barley House Burger because I missed it so much.

Terrible service. Food came out cold and not worth the very long wait. Poorly managed and cannot handle busy shifts.

The combination of toppings on the chipotle burger skewed a little too salty for my taste, but the burger was cooked well.

I found myself at Freddy's to celebrate my dad's birthday. He was in the mood for a burger and…read moreafter searching the Westchester area we ultimately landed here. The pics, reviews, and menu all seemed to point towards a yes - so off we went. Freddy's is located within the main commercial hub of Pleasantville. It's not a large restaurant, but holds a decent amount of seating with tasteful and laid-back decor. We were there right at opening at 4:30p, so it wasn't crowded but started filling up as time progressed. The menu is mostly American - arranged by apps, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts. I decided to start with the burrata which was served with diced butternut squash, brown butter, and grilled bread. This was...not what I was expecting. Burrata usually comes as an intact sphere that you cut open to reveal the soft cheese inside. This was already broken, and served in an almost deconstructed way. It honestly looks like a way to cut corners as it was definitely not a whole burrata. That, and the lack of flavor do not make it worth the $17 they charge. My main was better - I ordered the smoked chicken which was a breast on the bone and came with grits, spinach, and honey au jus. This was tasty - the chicken was juicy with crispy skin, and the au jus added a welcome sweetness to the grits and spinach. We opted for dessert because birthday - I chose the carrot cake which was just okay. No nuts, raisins, or noticeable carrots - so, a spice cake? As a side note, we were there during HV Restaurant week, however in lieu of a dedicated menu they offered a prix fixe app/entree/dessert off their menu. It sounded great at face value, but then we were told the portions would be smaller - and for items they couldn't shrink they up-charged if we ordered off the regular menu. IMO, not the best way to do restaurant week - either have a dedicated menu for it or don't participate at all. That being said, we decided to order off the regular menu. Service was good, everyone was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, Freddy's sent me mixed signals - the food wasn't bad, but this isn't a place I would go out of way to try again - it's more of a local spot in my perspective. If circumstances found me here again, though, I wouldn't be mad.

Food just wasn't that good. The table ordered a variety of dishes--mid at best…read more Service was also 2 stars, not friendly at all. Tell my friends to pass or go at your own risk

Brisket was also tender and juicy The sausage was spicy but flavorful Crab cakes was decent, it wasn't overly seasoned so you won't have to worry about that. But I enjoyed them, Corn bread was meh in my opinion, it could of been more moist, it wasn't dry but it felt like it was close to being dry especially the way it crumbled, but it was good just not great The lobster and shrimp pasta was a thin spaghetti: it wasn't bad but it was decent The Mac and cheese was cheesey a high 9/10 The cake was delicious and moist, ice cream was regular, enjoyed the graham cracker crumbs, and marshmallows as it complimented the flavors

Located right off the Sprain, it's in a good location and parking is decent. It looks how it sounds, both inside and out. Nice big bar, a pizza oven front and center, and of course the fireplace. Love all of the wood. Service was good however they were empty so perhaps grading on a curve there. I got the open faced steak sandwich. Pretty formidable portion with plenty of steak, however in hindsight I should've ordered it medium. Got it with bleu cheese and there was a crapton of it. Onions/mushrooms were good. No chance in hell of picking the thing up, yet very enjoyable. My son liked his chicken fingers, mostly just eating the fries as per tradition. My wife's pizza took awhile to come which was weird as they weren't bus and the pizza guy was standing around, however we went as they opened so perhaps they were waiting for the oven to heat up. We came for a post-hockey lesson lunch and this did the job well. My son generally prefers Valhalla Crossing nearby (trains, ya know) which has a similar vibe, however wouldn't mind inserting this oldie into the rotation once in awhile.

We loved the farm tour that started our evening (eating a stalk of the best asparagus I've ever had plucked straight from the ground was a definite highlight) and getting to learn more about Blue Hill's philosophy of farm to table cooking and using as many parts of each animal as possible. Service was attentive but not stuffy, and everyone we interacted with that night was personable and enthusiastic about their work. For dinner service we sat in a corner booth and listened to the soothing sounds of bird calls interspersed throughout the evening. We began a litany of courses that consisted of the farm's freshest produce of the season, which was delightfully hands-on. Some of our favorites of the evening came later, in the buckwheat 4 ways course and the two types of asparagus, as well as the best celttuce preparation I've had. The field trip to the kitchen was fun and we got some delicious buckwheat chips and cow bone rind brie. Even though we didn't love the toughness of the dairy cow that was served in one of our later plates, I appreciated the thought that went into the conception of the course, and there were more than enough wow/extremely delicious other components & courses to balance that out entirely. As a ceramics enthusiast, a lot of the plateware was also very beautiful, especially the pieces that were sourced from dairy cow bones. What a lovely way to honor all parts of the animal! A tip to try the non-alcoholic beverages/mocktails if you're not otherwise doing a pairing. We had some excellent drinks throughout the night at a very reasonable price point for a restaurant of this caliber and I was thoroughly impressed by the thought and care put into every component of the menu. The beverage menu itself was printed on a lovely map of the grounds and I was able to take one home along with a polaroid of us in the kitchen and a small loaf of whole-wheat bread that I ate with butter in the following week. Just a delightful experience all around and I'll be thinking about it fondly for many years to come!

This review is for the breakfast at the cafeteria…read more Breakfast is more restricted than a McDonalds. It is 9:30 am to 11:00 am. The service is exactly like a McDonalds. I got there and waited while the staff and a customer were socializing and ignoring me. The standard 'we don't care and we want you to know it.' There is food that is prepackaged from other companies. I did not really look at it since I am here for the 2 Michelin star in house cooked food not something that can be purchased in a lot of places. I chose to get a golden raisin muffin because the scone had nuts in it. The muffin is $6.50 which is what you expect from fancy places. It tasted really delicious and much better than supermarket and bakery muffins. This was a nice once in a lifetime stop, but it is not somewhere to return. I understand it is a farm and has to be further removed from society, but the time constraints are too much. Also, there is no guarantee what will be served, and you need to be able and willing to eat anything.
