Current review from Jan 2026: Mediocre and expensive bar. Sure the beer list is fairly long but they're all mediocre choices and all in bottles or cans, not a single draft. $7-9 for a 12oz can of nothing special and they didn't even have the 2nd or 3rd things I ordered. The barback who greeted me had a personality but after he walked away, the bartender was inattentive and devoid of personality. Overall, it got worse since my last visit albeit this time was only the bar and no food as I couldn't bring myself to their price point for a snack while I sipped overpriced meh beers. Still 2-stars, so maybe not as inconsistent as I thought, just not that good period. My original review from 2016 - 2-stars: Really inconsistent. I want to love the place as I have fond memories from my childhood of a place with the same name, that I can't even swear is the same establishment. The place has no tap beers, and pretty big offering of acceptable but not actually desirable bottle beers. I'd rather drink tasty choice brews from my fridge at home. read more

I visited this place late September so it was starting to get a little busy based on the start of spooky season. They do not take reservations so keep that in mind if you want to visit. The inside is amazing and set up perfectly for the fall and the town of Sleepy Hollow itself! I loved all of the details. I ordered a black garlic and cheddar burger and let me tell you, this burger lives absolutely rent free in my head. It was the BEST burger I've ever had. Ever. Knowing we'd be here for Halloween weekend, we looked up places to eat and this one came up at the top of every list. With good reason! We walked in just before lunch rush kicked in, got seated right away, and had tasty cocktails in hand quick! Being torn on what to order for lunch, I went back and forth before one of the servers convinced me that the boneless bbq ribs on a bun were the way to go, and a side of horseradish mashed potatoes too! Dang, it was good! The ambiance was old school tavern meets Halloween, all the servers mingled through the room helping whoever was closest at the moment. This place was great. Seems to be a staple of Tarrytown. Wait times in Autumn Weekends can be crazy especially if you are a group of 4 or more. They had plenty of Halloween Themed cocktails, which seemed fun. Everything we ordered tasted good, both in quality and quantity, especially for the price. The presentation is nothing fancy, which is to be expected for a Tavern vibe. Tried to get in here the year before but my mom did not want to wait super long for a table, so this October going up there with my son and husband this time, we waited. Honestly once you get on the list, they say how long it'll probably be and you can go stroll around. My group and I arrived at Horsefeathers at 6:20pm on a Friday night, and it was packed, with people on the waitlist standing outside. We had a reservation but were running a few minutes late because the parking lot behind the restaurant was full, so we got street parking at the nearby public park and walked. We were sat in a cozy wooden booth at the back of the restaurant, which was all decked out with cute halloween and fall decorations! The seasonal menu was also filled with ciders and donuts to match the autumn vibe. As it was packed and busy, the server took a while to get to us for our order, and then it was again quite a long wait for the food to arrive. It was 6:24 when we were seated, and when I received my food, it was 7:12. I thankfully wasn't that hungry, but my group was starving when we got there, so next time we'll make sure to take the long wait time into account. I ordered a cold apple cider and a turkey pot pie, and both were very good for the price! Everyone else loved the burgers and chili, which I'll have to try next time! This place is apparently an institution, so I'll definitely be coming back to try their other popular menu items! read more

We haven't been to a Horsefeathers in many years and this was great! There is parking out back of the building, but it is at your own risk. There is street parking you pay for at the meter. The atmosphere was nice and I loved the old books and the vintage building, it was nice. Our waiter was excellent, friendly and attentive. The food was awesome. My burger was spot on and tasted great and my sweet potato fries were perfectly salted and crispy. My husband said his food was very good. The portions were decent sized with the price we paid, which are similar to other places we have been. On Saturday 9/28/24 at 3:28 pm, I called Horsefeathers regarding a reservation. It took awhile before someone even answered the phone . A female told me they don't take reservations. I inquired about how long would we have to wait. She said about "20 minutes". We arrived about 3:45 PM, after finding a parking spot in their back lot. We were told now, it would be a "one hour" wait. I asked if we could come in and eat inside at a bar. She told me nothing was available. People were "just sitting" at their outdoor tables. It appears they were just waiting for their names to be called to come inside. There was a "large awning" over the outside dining area. Today was just overcast and misty. So, I can't figure out why people couldn't be served outside. Unless the restaurant didn't have enough servers etc....???? It's the weekend, you would think a restaurant would be more organized. read more

One of most favorite restaurants/bars ever! Though I've been going here since the 80's today marks my first ever review after dining there last night before a Music Hall show. We had drinks, salads & dinner (she had the French Dip & I the amazing Shepherds Pie). This is a great tavern/pub. I've come here in a pair and a group and had a great time and the food is consistently good. You will definitely need a rez on a weekend night, they get very busy. They have communal tables to accommodate walk ins, which is nice!, but you feel like you're sitting at the shame tables lol. read more

Food was delicious and server was helpful in choosing a beer. Highly suggest coming in with lots of time because during the busy season, they have a list even for the bar. If you're patient it's worth it though, and they have a good outdoor area if you're bringing your dog. read more

Had a really lovely meal tonight with my son at Horsefeathers. The servers were very attentive and everything was delivered quickly! We had onion rings for an appetizer. The batter was crisp but the onions were cooked just right on the inside. I had the Englebert Pumperdink which was delicious! My son had the classic club with sweet potato fries. Both sandwiches had hand -arved turkey in them which was a nice touch! We enjoyed the Black Beauty for dessert...a delicious brownie sundae! Our total bill was $60, which is crazy cheap for this area! The ambiance was darling...a clever mural in one of the walls was intriguing. The plates and platters scream Sleepy Hollow! Stopped into Horsefeathers after looking it up on Yelp as I was driving someone for a medical appointment in the area, and we had an hour to spare. It didn't disappoint - the ambiance was fantastically old school. AND CHRIS, who waited on us? He was immediately receptive to our request for fast service, JIC, even guiding on which meals would come fastest (ANOTHER good reason to get my burgers med-rare I guess). Firstly. This place is dark. Like needing to use my phone flashlight how my boomer parents do dark. That being said it really embodies the small town tavern vibe and being right down the street from Sleepy Hollow, it leans into that vibe. The staff was super accommodating with our needs and very friendly. Engaging in conversation and making us feel welcome. I wasn't expecting much, just usual tavern type food. We got some appetizers such as the wings and broccoli poppers with me then ordered the Broadway dip as my main. The sandwich wasn't bad. Nothing to write home about, but tasty. One of my gripes would be that the au jus could use more umami. (Yes I used that word for a tavern). I also appreciate the friendliness of the staff; they were very nice to us. The ringer was the buffalo wings. It was like they had been sauced, fried and then had sauce drizzled over them before plating. The skin was super crispy and the interior was incredibly moist. What a gem of a place!! My niece took me here and let me tell you they were outstanding!! From the greeting from our amazing hostess( sadly didn't get her name) to the incredible, friendly, patient, kind service by every person on The floor!! Bartender accommodated my drink, minus the mint and it was delicious! Had 2! lol the atmosphere is like that local joint from long ago, where it just felt comfortable and nice to be there.
