I like this restaurant a lot. They serve several types of meat, ribs, pulled pork, ham, brisket, turkey, chicken. Their absolute best is the smoked turkey. This is the most succulent smoked turkey I've ever had. Great flavor but still moist and tender and they serve you a nice portion. You can buy it by the pound if you like. The other meats are good but not the best in the area, although I would say they are competitive so don't shy away from them. The sides are often the star of the show. Not all barbeque places offer great sides; this place does. The green beans, squash casserole and mac-n-cheese are very tasty and make it worth the trip. The banana pudding is not the best. It's sweet and tasty but not the kind the grandma makes. And they serve beer on tap! So well worth worth it if you are in the area. And their food is made fresh, so they will run out of some items occasionally. Just don't wait until closing to visit. read more

A big hit for the BBQ enthusiasts. If you are a sometime meat eater this can be a real treat. Friendly fast service. Not for the vegan diet as their vegetable dish consists of potato salad, cole slaw and beans. My husband is a BBQ aficionado and said he would go back. I tasted one of his ribs and it was falling off the bone tender and tasty. He also had BBQ chicken which he said was smokey and good. This was a stop-over on our way to a vacation destination but we may make it a yearly stop. read more

Well I'm not a pork ribs judge, but I know what I like. The pulled pork was very tender and not greasy nor fatty. The slaw was ok, I like a creamy slaw and theirs has too much vinegar for my taste. The baked beans are some of the best I've ever had. A great smoky flavor with just the right touch of brown sugar. The table sauce was slightly sweet with a nice touch of kick. The serving was plentiful! I wonder if they plan of ever making more of a variety of sauces? read more

Today was my first visit here. I had heard it was good so I decided to try as we have plenty of other places we go on Sunday. We had a group of 8 and there were of plenty of seating for groups. You order at a register before seating. The cashiers were very pleasant and patient. I got the bbq wings which were perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside and seasoned well. The sides were ok, Mac and cheese good. I also tried the banana pudding, texture of the bananas a little off putting, but to be fair I make a bomb homemade banana pudding. We will definitely add 306 bbq to places to eat on Sunday. read more

Google and their website says closed at 9p, walked in at 8p and blonde woman yelled at me they were closed! I apologized and mentioned the website and she said in a loud voice that the door says 8. I'm an adult, & don't need to be yelled at and humiliated in front of other customers. Will not be back!!!! Had a very good friend brought my husband & me dinner from 306 BBQ tonight. First time ever eating from this place. He got ribs & bbq pork with baked beans & potato salad, it was all so awesome. The ribs just melted off the bones, the pork had great flavor & was tender. We didn't want to stop eating ate enough to fill us up tonight & will have pork sandwiches tomorrow. Last month I advised no onion on my baked potato because of an allergy. It appeared as if the individual started to put them on and picked them off. The missed a few, I called and explained that could kill me and please be more careful. Today the same thing happened but it was caught before leaving the store. I reminded them of last month and her reply was we are busy and that happens sometime. We remade it that is all we can do. This was not some request because I dont like them, it can kill me. If you cannot accommodate people with allergies, how can you comply with COVID requirements. read more

Having been back MULTIPLE times since my first review, I must repent for robbing them of a star previously. My wife swore off ribs for years until I finally convinced her to try one here, and now she orders them herself. According to her, this is the only place that gets them to fall off the bone in an acceptable manner, and the sauce complements the dish amazingly well. The bones are soft enough to give to our dogs without being so mushy that you accidentally bite through them as I have experienced at other local places. We have also used them to cater twice now, and their bbq pork is a huge hit! The white sauce isn't as good as Big Bob's in my opinion, but the pork is so much better than anywhere else that it just doesn't need sauce. The sides are all spectacular, but the banana pudding is the perfect side to help mellow out the meat sweats! Last but not least, the service has only ever been good here. The staff are all friendly and know their menu well, and we've not had a single request that caused them to pause in their willingness to make it a good experience. Good bbq is fairly common in this area, but good service at a bbq restaurant is almost unhead of. I hope they keep up the great work, and I also hope they have a presence at Whistle Stop this spring! read more

We are blessed with great BBQ restaurants in North Alabama. 306 has the best ribs in the area and their turkey is amazing. The sides are good as well but as most BBQ places, it is all about the meat. The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the restaurant is loud. When it is crowded it is very loud. I usually get my order to go. read more

Been twice and had good food both times. I had ribs the first time and they were pretty good. The second time I had brisket and it was ok. It wasn't very smokey or tender. It felt like I was eating sliced roast beef actually. I love the cole slaw here. Good selection of beers and there's a good amount of variety on the menu. Stopped by on a trip through north AL. The ribs were great, fall off the bone tender, flavor was basic BBQ. The sauces were good. The white sauce did not quite live up to expectations, but it was tasty. I'm gonna skip the green beans next time. They were fresh and flavorful, but veggies do not need sugar. read more

I would love to give this place a higher rating. My first time in, ever. I stopped in for a to go order, as I was on a last minute biz trip to Atlanta. I ordered the grilled chicken plate. Comes with two sides. Trying to be a good little boy, I ordered a "half chicken with a side salad and Brunswick stew" Chicken was moist, but......soggy...throw away skin. Also....I got a 1/4 Chicken, not a half. But what a brotha going to do 10 miles down the road when he finds out? Brunswick stew was ok, but reallllllly greasy. I only ate a few bites. Salad, was a salad. This place has all the tools for GREATNESS! I hope they will strive to be such. read more

By far one of the best places to eat in Athens. Great ribs & chicken. My personal favorite...the bbq baked potato! It's humongous and delicious!!! I usually get mine with dark meat smoked chicken but I hear the turkey and brisket are also fantastic. And don't miss out on Apple casserole (only on Tues. & Fri.) or Banana pudding. Best ribs I've had outside a BBQ competition. They even beat some I've judged. I got a half rack. They were super tender without falling apart. They had a little sauce on them and were perfect, but I kept adding the red sauce to it because it was sweet and tangy. They leave the bottom membrane (common for most restaurants) on the ribs which may have block some of the smoke penetration, but once again, they tasted great! read more

After reading the reviews, I was excited to try them out. Well, I'm a little disappointed at the results. The rib sandwich had no bones and no sauce, taste like it had been cooked in a crook pot..the meat was tender but had no smoke flavor. Coleslaw was OK..mac n cheese looked like everyday Kraft mac n cheese. I'll keep looking for better BBQ in Athens. read more

If you are looking for well prepared BBQ served quickly 306 is highly recommended. Friendly staff and quality food at a good selection. Smoked Turkey sandwich is a great alternative to traditional ribs and briscuit or pulled pork but they have it all. Squash casserole and banana pudding are winners. The wings here are amazing hot and crispy with a juicy center. The BBQ is mediocre the smoked flavor is "not all there." With a name like "306 BBQ" I was expecting a BBQ so good I would smack my mother in the face, but not so much. The ribs are good this is one of the few places in Athens that I would order the ribs if I was having a craving for them.
