Run to this hole in the wall bbq place! Cute as a button and the food was stellar! 1.8 miles from I-65. Go. Just do it. I'm a mom, not single, who travels alone all over the country with her young kids and this was a fabulous pit stop. Brown bag specials - pork BBQ sandwiches were spot on. My favorite sauce was the Original, but they honestly didn't need sauce. Smoked well! The Mac and cheese was homemade. The baked beans were smoked to absolute perfection!!! Like... I need to grab a gallon of those to take home. Fun Coke/Soda/Pop selection. Grab the Nehi Peach or a Sundrop! Desert. As my kids said 'Chef's Kiss!' Owner's family was there and we had a nice conversation with him and seems like such a nice, local farm family who owns the place. Clean restrooms. Accepts cash and cards. Hours are Wednesday - Sunday 11AM-8PM as of the date we visited. 7/19/2023 We plan on making this a regularly visited restaurant.

We were traveling through on I-65 and I had a hankering for southern BBQ and found this place on Yelp.

A great looking building. Then it sort of flops when you try the buffet. I went on a Saturday around 6pm. The fried catfish and barbecue chicken were drier than Gandhi's flip flops. The mac & cheese noodle was good but they use a bad cheese product. The tossed spaghetti and meat sauce wasn't great. The bread pudding was stuck to the pan like spackle. Looking forward to grabbing a shower and a beer upstairs later. I hope they figure out the buffet before the Gem of Tennessee comes in on June 24th. That's the rumor anyway. ...Oh almost forgot, they had a country music artist playing for diner. I thought that was cool. If more people hear about this, maybe the food might not be as dry? Anyway, Good luck Tennessean. We'll be out on tour so won't get to see Dolly. Edit: went back in today. The trucker showers are huge, just missing sink space and hooks to hang your bag. Towels were real nice. Tried round 2 at the buffet. Slightly better. The apple bread pudding was good today. Meatloaf was good again. They can't seem to put out good chicken. The BBQ glazed chicken was rock hard and almost dry. They had some chicken patties in gravy that also wasn't great. The people are nice here, but I don't think they've got the right people in the kitchen just yet.

The famous cinnamon bread is available for purchase and is absolutely worth the wait. Whether you choose the all-you-can-eat country buffet or order from the menu, there are plenty of options to satisfy everyone. The brisket was cooked perfectly--tender, moist, and full of rich, smoky flavor. The selection of sides, available from both the buffet and the menu, offers something for every taste. The chicken, unfortunately, was a bit dry, although it still had decent flavor. To finish the meal, I tried the peach cobbler, which was absolutely delectable. It would have been even better served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The service was slow. It seemed like the waitress wasn't quick to serve or refill drinks. Waitressing isn't an easy job by all means, but there were many times when we wouldn't see our waitress for awhile. The atmosphere is inviting. There are murals and guitars all over. The guitars are beautifully decorated. Overall, Dolly's Travel Stops is a worthwhile stop for good comfort food, delicious baked goods, and unique souvenirs.

Everything we have tried here has been fresh and excellent, the staff is kind and laid-back, and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. I do wonder why they have black tables and serve beignets, though :). The beignets are Cafe du Monde goodness, and the dipping sauces are really good. Their sweet tea is the real deal, too. If you are hungry, their burgers are some of the best in town. If you can't decide what to get, try the dugout fries. What I like the most is that it is family-friendly/Christian-owned and operated. You can feel that in everything they do. Love this place!
