The roll was really 2 inches long before cutting?? Soft shell crab rolls are nearly always the entire crab tempura'd, cut in half. The rice felt too large and heavy, and the rolls had no balance or fresh taste. The California roll was especially bad -- it was made with imitation crab sticks and had a very unpleasant taste. Updating my review for next time my best friend and I get sushi from our fave Chicago hidden gem sushi shop. It's located in 88 Market which makes it feel like an under the radar treasure. You'll go up the escalators to the market and take a slight right towards what looks like some food stalls. You are able to dine it or takeout. This visit we ordered on DoorDash ahead of time for pickup. It was the weekend before Lunar New Year so it was packed. If you do want to dine-in, there are tables in what sorta feels like food court style in front of where you order your food. There is a divider between the food and grocery sections. We like to do takeout. Our big takeaway is do not get anything with squid. It's just not for us. We wouldn't get the kraken special again. This time we tried the kraken special, dragon special roll, torched salmon maki special, hotate nigiri, and negi toro hoso. We got the dragon roll and hotate nigiri last time so we always recommend this for super yummy rolls. We fell in love with the negi toro hoso and its fun little onion kick, so will definitely order that again. We wanted more from the torched salmon maki, something about the sauce drowned out the flavor and made it more bland. The sushi is fresh and delicious here, you don't want to miss out! read more

We love coming to 312 for good quality Tuna! We usually like to get the tuna platter. It probably feeds more, but the two of us can eat it no problem. Of course we are very full after. I've heard good things about the freshness of the selection so decided to come on a Saturday dinner time. I mainly came here because I wanted uni and had read on Reddit that they sold it but ended up getting the Japanese flight and a few rolls as well as the wakame salad. Everything was excellent but the Japanese flight was the highlight. For $25 it was five pieces of nigiri and all were excellent. They have a few other "flights" like a salmon one and a tuna one that were intriguing as well. Service was quick and excellent, bathrooms were clean and conveniently located, and the location is in a cool Japanese market with lots of fun products that the boyfriend and I enjoyed exploring. We went for lunch shortly after 12 on a Saturday and the place was empty but had plenty of tables/seating, and a large # of staff (8?). We ordered the Double Trouble to share (12 pieces nigiri and 10 pieces sashimi), which was beautifully presented and served very quickly within 5 minutes after ordering. The proximity to the actual grocery area makes the stall seem much larger than it is, but it also gives you time to make your shopping list.
