Price-wise I'm not sure this is the best deal, since it was a bit pricey, but if you didn't bring any food with you then I'd say 360 smokehouse is the restaurant to go to. Much better than the other options on the mountain. Their rooftop tables have really nice views because it's at the top of the mountain. I wouldn't come at prime time though because it is a little small so the space for lining up and grabbing your food would be packed like sardines. read more

Every time we go to Sierra-at-Tahoe, we end up having our lunch up at the mountain and it's nice that there's a little spot up here as sometimes you just want to board down right after some food. As you would expect, the prices are ridiculous but it is what it is. We had the pulled pork which was quite dry but it at least it wasn't drenched in sauce which might contain garlic (I'm heavily intolerant to it...I know I'm sad too). It was filling, enough for the two of us. There's seating inside as well as upstairs and outside, but the only thing I don't like is the smell of smoke which I get it...it's called a Smokehouse...so there would be smoked meat and a smoker. So just be ready to smell a bit but then again as long as you're in there and out quickly you'll get back to the fresh mountain air. read more

Ate here twice while skiing this past weekend and you definitely get your moneys worth here! We decided to order the ribs and the brisket in the bbq platter along with the sweet potato waffle fries. The second time we came, we ordered the ribs, the tri tip, and the onion rings. ALL of it was so delicious. I was actually quite surprised they have good bbq all the way at the summit. The sweet potato fries and the onion rings were nice and crispy. I wanted more! We ordered the ribs twice because the meat would just fall off the bone! Dip that in the yellow mustard sauce and you'll love it too! The tri tip was a little dry and tough. The brisket was better than the trip tip. However, dipping it into that mustard sauce really helped! Also I usually don't like cornbread, but they make a maple jalapeno one so it was very moist and not dry at all. The salad and potato salad were both great to go along with the meats. Definitely recommend eating at the summit over eating down at the base. read more

This place is delicious and a total reward for being out on the slopes. It's located at the top of one of the lifts that takes you to the starting point for all the Green slopes. Order: Tahoe King -- sandwich with brisket and pulled pork. Came with coleslaw and cornbread. Smoky good and huge portions! My husband and I split one and already felt 10 pounds heavier coming down the slope. Pros: Being delicious, lol. Huge portions for the price Comparatively, this was a good deal vs. other ski resorts (ahem Heavenly) and the food was good quality A lot of seating and it was actually available (to be fair, we were here on a snowy day skiing so not sure if this meant traffic was lower than usual, but the main lodge had been a complete zoo all morning) Bar is right there, instead of with the main lodge where it's on a different floor from the cafeteria. Not as busy as the main lodge -- you can have a stress-free meal without everyone 5 feet up your ass wondering when you're gonna get up. Cons: When we visited, was a little bit of a mess from some rowdier tables that had food all over the floor (nope, these weren't parents of small children, just really drunk guys). read more

The food is typically overpriced and typical ski-run choices, but the view is one of the best in Tahoe. Relax and have some soup or chili or hot sandwich and maybe a drink and enjoy 360 view of the Sierras and Tahoe. The deck on top has the best views and there's a lookout platform with signs about all the peaks in the area. Plenty of seating, with glove warmers and large bathrooms at the entrance, a couple dozen in doors tables and a bar, and then a dozen or so picnic benches upstairs on the deck. The bar has some food specials, so if you're having a beer w lunch you can skip the kitchen lines. read more

Based on food quality and consistency I think this place cannot rate as 5 stars. They just have too many logistics issues to be considered "world class". But class this place does have, after all it takes a lift ride to bring the staff up every day, not to mention all the food and supplies so that's pretty neat. The staff is generally very friendly and fun to be around. But they do run out of stuff so you need to be a little forgiving. This is also probably the highest BBQ restaurant at over 8500' feet above sea level that you will ever dine in. El Dorado County doesn't have too many BBQ places so this place is special within a small pond as well. Burgers, meat plates, chili, they have a turkey sandwich, and not too many vegetarian items, but they do have fried green beans which are pretty cool. The prices are actually cheap as far as the resort upcharge is concerned around Lake Tahoe, and within the resort there is not a special upcharge to eat on the top of the (Huckleberry) mountain. In fact the clientele is all skiers and riders so that part is very cool indeed. The bar is quite wonderful as well. If it's your first time try and sit down at the end of the bar. T'was said to be the best food available at the Sierra At Tahoe resort... I settled for the Roundup sandwich, and it was portioned enough for 2 people! You can even split in half and share because I had a lot left over that I ended up just tossing away. The people that work here were great and while loading up your meat, they'll have small conversations with you. Lightly smoked and slightly dry, the meat needed quite a bit of BBQ sauce dousing for each of my bites. There were three BBQ sauce options available on the table: Regular, Tangy, and Hot, which of course being a lover of spice, my default favorite was Hot. Unfortunately, the spiciness was not reflected as the label suggests and it was not spicy at all, so feel free to douse it in all that saucy goodness. My friends and I all shared sides and they're all so-so, okay. Not really worth the extra dollars, but the complimentary cornbread that came with the sandwich though... THAT. WAS. EXCELLENT! So good that I had a second helping to myself!!! My favorite! Even more than the hot sauce. Overall, the food was not bad... my biggest gripe about the food was that it wasn't hot at all... not even warm. :c I would've preferred that they warm up the food in a toaster after putting it together. That probably would've made my meal sooooo much better. If it's not too cold, find yourself a seat at the very top... the view is incredible and on a clear, sunny day, you can even see Lake Tahoe! read more

This is my favorite place to eat when at Sierra. I love how it sits at the top of the mountain with 360° of epic views from the deck on top. There's even great views from the inside with its large windows that are from the ground to the ceiling. As long as they aren't covered with feet of snow you can see out of them :) but we welcome that sight anytime. My go-to would be the sandwich with turkey, blue cheese and bacon. I think it's called the "blue bird". I also get onion rings. They always put cornbread and kale salad on the side. So. Much. Food. But I eat it all because I'm a piggy. My fiancé always get the sandwich with brisket, tri tip and pulled pork. I can't remember the name of the sandwich but it's got 3 meats in it! I get the meat sweats thinking about it haha! Lodge food is expensive regardless of where you go. The portions are so big I am literally done for the day after I eat here lol! 360 Smokehouse BBQ is absolutely awesome. Talk about an unexpected surprise! The menu @ 360 Smokehouse BBQ is straight on BBQ. All the favorites: ribs, BBQ chicken, BBQ burgers, brisket and awesome sides that include sweet potato fries! I did have the 360 platter with ribs and brisket along with mac 'n cheese and baked beans as sides. Great food. The ribs were perfectly cooked, had a great smokey flavor and kept my attention until I was lickin' bones. =) The brisket was also very good, a bit fatty in a few places that did make me stop and pull the fatty bits out. Mac 'n cheese was great. full flavor, none of that artificial nasty cheesy taste you can sometimes get. The baked beans were pretty good too, a little sweeter than the way I like 'em, but still very tasty. They did have 3 different types of BBQ sauce at each of the tables. The smokey BBQ sauce was exactly that, a very smokey flavor with a very distinct tang. The spicy sauce flavor was *very* spicy. Not sure about the rest of y'all, but that was amazingly spicy; just enough to make you clear your throat a bit because you weren't expecting it to be that spicy, but you continue to eat it. The sweet sauce was probably my least favorite. It was way too sweet. It felt like I was shaking brown sugar all over my BBQ food. Too much sweetness in that one to even be enjoyable. I found myself choking a bit on its sweetness. This place is really a great BBQ joint. Too bad it's on the top of a mountain and not 'round the corner from my house. =( read more

Basically heaven at the top of the mountain... After a full morning of boarding, Kathleen W. and I noticed this restaurant at the top of Sierra at Tahoe. We made the plans to take the lift up and were greeted by a nice employee who checked in our gloves, boots, and offered fuzzy slippers. This greatly added to the experience b/c what can feel better on your feet after having those clunky boots on all day... During the mid-day hour, I was actually surprised that I was able to find a seat, which was next to a window displaying the snow-covered mountaintop on this sunny day. Took a while to order food, but we ended up getting the 2-item platter with BBQ chicken & brisket. Combined with their smoky BBQ sauce on the tables, our hunger that was built up from the snowboarding runs (and falls) was happily satiated. KW went crazy on the mac n cheese (she loves her mac n cheese), and although we expected the lunch to be a bit more in terms of quantity, our bellies were full, but not too full to get up and hit some more slopes shortly after. Honestly, I experienced the best ski resort food at 360 Smokehouse BBQ and it will definitely be the lunch place from now on at Sierra. read more

I have often bemoaned the lack of good barbecue food in California so who knew that I'd find it 8500 feet above sea level at the top of a mountain in beautiful Lake Tahoe. I was as impressed with the BBQ here as I was disappointed in the snowboarding which makes me sad for I doubt if I'll be back to savour the delicious ribs, brisket and sides. I shared a platter of mouthwatering tender baby back ribs and brisket with my better half and oh boy did it hit the spot. I picked up the rib rack and the bone just came out in my hand, leaving me with the pleasantly sticky experience of slathering the meat with the excellent Cattlemen's sauces and stuffing the sticky meaty mess down my gullet. Side orders come in various guises and I selected mac n cheese & beans, both were perfect bbq accompaniments. The cornbread, oh the cornbread was slightly sweet, light and fluffy and we were lucky to secure a corner piece with a lovely thick crust that just made me smile. The brisket was a little fatty and the queues were out of hand meaning service was a little poor. Combine this with a Nutty Russian (vodka, kahlua, amaretto and milk for inquiring minds) and you have the perfect way to fuel you for some speed runs down the mountain. So in short, don't expect great snow from Sierra-at-Tahoe, but you can be sure of exemplary barbecue! read more

I like smokehouse bbq better because the parents that saves tables for their kids coming from ski school usually don't end up hogging everything up here. Tips: Line is long for the sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs. The salad and soup line is significantly shorter! I found a liking to the Backside Salad - grilled/smoked beef or pork(?) with lettuce leaves, onions, tomatoes, and some cheese. The food here is lowkey really good and unexpected for ski resort food. Definitely one of the best meals I've had at a ski resort and a great treat after skiing/snowboarding. What I liked: * Super filling which is perfect after a tiring morning of skiing (sandwiches and burgers come with a side of kale slaw or potato salad + cornbread). They don't skimp out on the meat which is a huge plus for me. * Really tasty. I got the King Tahoe Sandwich which comes with almost all their different kinds of meat (brisket, pulled pork, tri-tip). The jalapeno cornbread with maple on top was also delicious. * I liked that they didn't add the BBQ sauce to the meat beforehand. My absolute fave cheap eats of all the Tahoe resorts. I actually plan Sierra trips just so I can eat the yummy succulent BBQ chicken drumstick plate which is my standard order here. The sides are all pretty good and don't taste terribly mass produced like a lot of ski resorts' food often do. I've ordered the mac n cheese, baked beans, fried green beans, onion petals, and mashed potatoes and would easily order them all again, but maybe not at once haha. The tri tip and brisket are pretty delish too (a little more expensive) but three (LARGE) chicken drumsticks, cornbread and two side for $10.95 and an extra side usually satiated both me and the walking garbage can (the boyfriend). Any more food and we would food coma our way down the slopes. AND TRUST, I don't need any help falling. You can't beat a $15 lunch for two at any ski resort and to have it surprisingly delicious is a great bonus!!!!! read more

This place is at the top of Sierra at Tahoe, which is good and bad. If the weather is good, the view from the top of the smokehouse of Lake Tahoe is absolutely stunning, but then there's a massive crowd. If the weather is bad, there's likely to be less people, but then it's just like eating food at the base lodge since there's no nice view. Tony and Michael did a thorough review of the BBQ here, so I won't recap. Instead, tips!!!!!! 1. The bathrooms smell fishy. Hold your nose when going in. 2. If there's space, you can get your shoes or gloves warmed while eating. When you enter, turn right and there should be an attendant there. 3. The lines are often long for entrees, but if you just want a side, you can bypass all of that by just going to the left entrance and walking straight ahead. Sides are cheaper (around $2.95) and you can get a larger portion than a side you'd get with an entree. My favorites include sweet potato fries, mac 'n cheese, and onion petals. You can also get a fresh salad here. 4. If the sides line is busy, the left-most side of the food area has two types of soup - typically chili and broccoli. It's around $6 for a bowl, which is more than enough to warm you up. There's also a full bar where you can grab a beer or cocktail to enjoy. This is especially nice during the summer when the view from the top is gorgeous and it's not freezing. But, if you've come here to snowboard like myself, it's often a quick in and out to eat and hit the slopes. The really nice staff will often walk around and take your tray away for you. This is as good as it gets for resort food. I think this is by far the best dining option at Sierra, and is some of the best that I've had at any resort for that matter. Located at the top of the grand view express lift, this place offers an amazing view of the Tahoe valley. I like the fact that it is significantly less crowded then the restaurants at the ground level. Food wise, many options. My husband has tried the ribs, brisket sandwich, and pulled pork. All are fantastic and are tender meat. It's hard to pull a good brisket, but their brisket is tender and well flavored. The sides are awesome!! I particularly love the sweet potato fries, the fried green beans, and the macaroni and cheese. As far as vegetarian options, there are plenty of choices. I'm not sure what the previous reviewer meant, but they had a really amazing portobello burger when we were there yesterday and it was awesome for a vegetarian option. I was quite content and the burger was filling. Portion sizes are huge, 2 people could easily share a dish. Prices were about 10$ a dish and that includes a side, so not bad. I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was good except for the potato soup. However the manager offered to swap it out for something else. We had Tri-tip sandwich Brisket sanctify Chili Mac and cheese BBQ had a lot of flavor. The cornbread was excellent (the topping was sweet and perfect) Sweet potato fries. Crunchy and sweet Mac and cheese was "Kraft" style but it was perfect. Our cashier Shelby was friendly and attentive. Only complaint was the soup and 4$ for water. Good ski food. read more

After waiting about 45 minutes in the lift line to get to the 360 Smokehouse BBQ, we were ready to eat! I ordered the pulled pork, which I found to be a tad bit on the salty side. They let you order two sides, so i tried the mac and cheese which was okay, and onion petals, which i didn't care so much for the batter. The cornbread was a little on the dry side. At over 8000 feet and after a few great runs on heavenly soft powder, I was buzzed after a few gulps of my one and only pint. The buzz effect, although a bonus, is not the reason why I dig this place. Did I mention it was pretty high off in elevation? The view is amazing! The bartender (we were seated at the bar) was also quick on his feet when it came to taking our order. And the sweet potato fries were delightfully tasty. I have to say I was reluctant to eat here because #1 it's at a ski resort and the prices are always overpriced. #2 it's at the top of the mountain with a great view of Lake Tahoe and it would cost more and #3 it would be just simple tasteless food. Upon entering there was a worker offering for free to take my gloves, put them on a dryer while I ate and there were racks of slippers so one could take off there ski boots and rest there feet. I thought that they were really going to soak me for all the money I had. To my suprise the prices were same for any other BBQ restaurant and was just as good. I had the brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries. The bread was toasted and the cook piled the brisket on with a lot of fries. The cook noticed my wife and I were sharing and offered to cut the sandwich in half. Cool. The meat and fries was very tasty but the fries could have been warmer. Great BBQ sauce was on the tables. I paid $13.50 for this sandwich. The sodas were $3.79 with free refills and bottled water was $3.49. Normal prices for ski resorts. The drinks were bit to high for me so I had there provided free water I'm a cooler. I was there Dec 21, 2012 about 12:30 pm. I look forward to going back very soon. wah. wah. waaaaaaaaah (that sad little brass instrument noise indication of total "meh"ness!) My feelings on this place? On their food? TOTAL MEHVILLE!! Try getting there between 11-1 and you'll have nowhere to park your tired @$$, espcially when you're in a big group. I feel like a little table vulture, just having to stand there and wait to swoop in and put the mess of my equipment on the table to eat. The food down at the base in the Pub? DELISH. This place? OMG no matter what I order I always feel like when I hit the slopes again I have a giant rock of food in my stomach. And usually, because this place is by no means AFFORDABLE for those of us who don't work for a Fortune 500 company or the State of California, $4 for a side is all I can afford. Usually I grab the Mac N Cheese, but its like someone smeared custard-thick velveeta on elbow macaroni. The coleslaw, is surprisingly disgusting, and the only thing I really like is their BBQ beans (which are most likely just Bush Beans with a $3 markup.) The view is incredible, when I have sampled from my friends the food is descent for the main dishes... but you would expect a little more quality for the price. That's my biggest complaint. Most people say the richness and the quality of the food is really really a major rip off for the price. I feel like I just bent over and took it. Major moneyrape, batman!! Food quality aside, the staff is nice as hell and they always remember you. I see the same faces there week in and week out, Sierra always has great fun and friendly staff (with the exception of the way too stressed out/probably hungover lift line organizers). The decor inside is great, they also offer complimentary slippers (if you really want to spend the time de-gearing, and god knows I dont, especially if the weather is great!) It's convienient because it's at the top of Grandview, but the only other thing that sucks is that people who have the $35 learn to ride lesson & limited lift ticket are only able to ride up Easy Rider Express, so they can't go up there to eat unless they pay the full day lift ticket :( That kinda sucks. It was a little pricey, but the beef brisket sandwich was soooo good. I was very surprised how much I enjoyed the brisket and how they cooked it! Kale salad was great too as I never tried it before! If you're at this ski resort I recommend trying this for lunch! Staff friendly as well. Make sure you sit at the top deck... incredible views of the mountain and lake! read more
