This was our fourth visit for dinner, and once again, a perfect 10/10. In a region where truly outstanding farm-to-table cuisine can be hard to come by, Caples Lake Restaurant is a rare gem. From the moment they opened, it's been clear how much care, thought, and creativity goes into every dish. The quality and consistency are remarkable, and it's now our go-to date night spot. Can't recommend it highly enough!

We've had a house at Kirkwood for 24 years, and back in the early 2000s, we enjoyed dining at Caples Lake restaurant. For years now Caples Lake has closed during the winter, but they have new owners. They opened up their restaurant this past February I believe. This is Kirkwood, so I had pretty low expectations for the food quality. Wow, was I wrong! The food was fantastic. The service was great, and there were fantastic views of the frozen lake from every table in the restaurant. My wife is a vegetarian, and we were with a friend who is a strict vegan. No problem! The chef was very accommodating. I had the chicken pesto pasta, and it was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. The lounge/bar area looked like a nice place to hang out after skiing, too. It's too bad it's closing for the season this weekend. I plan on going back there every time I'm up in Kirkwood!

Went to the Caples lake resort lounge after lake Winnamucca flower hike. Excellent smoked trout dip with wine and beer, wonderful wine and beer selections. Beautiful lake and mountain views from the restaurant . We will definitely be back.

First off, WOW. What an amazing experience. Sunset, lake, wildlife, and fantastic food. We had the mushroom raviolis, CLR burger, rack of lamb, and Ceasar salad with salmon. 20 out 10! Stacy is by far the best hidden gem in the mountains, she is so kind and attentive! If you get the chance to dine here, do not pass it up!

We loved it all! They were very busy with several large parties so our reservation got pushed back a bit and they were so apologetic and brought us a free glass of wine then gave us a beautiful table by the window. Staff was very professional and friendly. Food was absolutely amazing. Fun and friendly atmosphere! We are so glad to finally have a quality place to eat out in the Kirkwood area!

Everything was exceptional! The food was outstanding, especially considering how remote this restaurant is!

It definitely feels like old Jackson. It's a brewery through and through. The bar is beautiful wood and it feels like you step back in time eating here. With one minor exception, everything here was above and beyond the expected. The onion rings were great, the little ones wanted another order. The green beans with the Chipotle aioli might be the second best thing on the menu (1st is to come). The spice was perfect and the breading extra crunchy. The wings were spicy and cooked perfect. The only disappointment was the cauliflower. The buffalo sauce was underwhelming and the blue cheese (spread) didn't work. The main dishes were great all around. Not one bite of any burger wad left over and the fish and Chios disappeared quickly. The highlight was the pesto fries and French dip burger. The pesto fries are drenched in fresh basil pesto with parmesan. The French dip burger is a burger patty topped with roast beef and onions with au jus. It's seriously the best of both worlds. A French dip and a burger. I will definitely be back for this alone. We made a reservation since out party was over 10, but you could definitely walk in and find a table without much wait. There is also the connected wine bar area that serves the same food and drinks, but has a counter as well.

I opted for fish and chips. It was very good. Others in my party had burgers, Cobb salad, patty melt. Very friendly staff members. Slow service, seemed understaffed and slow, service improved after our order was taken, very fast delivery of our food. Prices are reasonable. Bar restaurant in a cool old building.

South Lake Brewing Company is located in the same plaza as Target, with plenty of parking available. South Lake Brewing Company is also dog friendly for those traveling with their pups When we walked in through the back entrance, we were greeted by an employee. After looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: Pilsner, $8- My husband ordered this one for himself. He liked it and had said he would order it again. Not really big on beer (although I do like German beers), I didn't have any. 2 Towns Huckleberry Cider, $8- I ordered this cider for myself and I thought it was fantastic. The sweet flavors of the huckleberry was prominent and excellent as a hard cider. --------------------------- (Total= $16) After my husband paid, the employee helping got our drinks right away. Then we just sat in the corner inside to just enjoy and relax for a while. The place itself was pretty empty, although a small amount of traffic was coming in. The brewery inside was pretty clean and so were the ladies' restrooms. Outside there was a corn hole for those that wished to play and also it was nice that there was some shade as well. If I was a local, I would definitely come back.

I ordered from the food truck outside. Very nice, very young guy took my order. Two smash burgers with cheddar cheese and no onions. I asked if I should get the extra patty for three additional dollars but he said he thought that the burger was plenty big with the single patty. When the food came out my burgers both had onions and Swiss cheese, not cheddar and my fries were ice cold and super greasy. I asked for some fresh fries, but by the time I got them and got back to the table, my burger was cold. I ate it without complaining about the onions and the wrong cheese because I hate to waste meat. And by the way, that beef patty was skimpy. Pretty much the whole burger was toppings, which were under the Patty so it made the burger look bigger. It did have good flavor, but it was unsatisfying in size. Also the fries were hot now but they were very soggy. I got pale ale from the bar as well as a nonalcoholic canned beer for my man. The bartender honestly seemed very disinterested in helping me. I paid and tipped and went back to the table. I didn't think the Pale Ale was anything special, it seemed kind of watery and flat. The nonalcoholic canned beer was very good according to my man. Pretty sad when the best part of your meal came in a can. Between my cost at the food truck and my cost at the bar, the total for lunch was $58. I would likely not return to this business.

They also make homemade honey mustard dressing that they out on a lot of things. I'm not usually a fan, but this came on my salad without me knowing and I was able to eat it. Portion sizes are pretty large. They have indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to your table.
