a half eaten sandwich on a paper plate
    Clare C.

Came here for an early lunch while skiing! We ordered the brisket grilled cheese! I enjoyed it. The outdoor seating is nice on a warmer day but not great if it's very cold. Workers were friendly while ordering. The sandwich was pretty filling and had a decent amount of brisket on it. The sandwich was a little burnt in a couple areas but still very tasty and hit the spot. The sandwich was ~$11 with the epic pass.

From what I could see, it was all outdoor dining, but the weather was good enough that I didn't mind it at all. Weirdly though, I felt like the food here was better than down in the lodge at the bottom, but that might just be because of the nice views and being up in the mountain. I had a grilled cheese with brisket and tomato soup, and it was much more filling than I expected. It was, of course, overpriced, but what isn't? Anyway, it's not my top choice of restaurant but considering it's on the mountain and there are decent views, we could do a lot worse. I imagine I'll be eating here again on my next trip to Heavenly!

Do NOT order the Cesar salad. It was $15.50 and 5 slivers of lettuce. The chili was good (also $15.50) and while advertised with corn bread it came with oyster crackers

The only downfall to this spot is the price. EVERYTHING IS SO EXPENSIVE!! I understand you are taking everything up the hill to provide on mountain service but wow. I ordered a Bailey's coffee and paid almost $12! $12 for some coffee and a shot of Bailey's (a smallish coffee at that rate!). You are paying for convenience I understand but there has to be a healthier balance between cost and convenience. I will not stop here in the future - once taught me my lesson!

Decent pulled pork sandwiches, convenient location next to the Sky Express and lots of sun. But otherwise it's a relatively overpriced BBQ bar on top of the mountain. Not that you'd have much choice. It was quite tasty sandwich anyway.

She was the sweetest girl ever. Her name is Jessee S. Go give this girl some business. Well as we are sitting there, we were under the music speaker. They literally had rap music on. I asked her what on earth we were listening to since we are in a German restaurant. She says left me go change it. She put on like piano bar music which we loved for a great meal. We opted for no appetizers this trip, but did get the beer flight again. So refreshing with heavy food. We shared a plate on this trip as we had food planned for the next week. So did not want any leftovers. Opted for the pork shank with ajus, subbed kase spatzeal for the mashed potatoes, it's a 4.00 upcharged, but OMGEEE so worth it. Cheesy noodle deliciousness. Also had saurkraut with it. I do not like this stuff, but I love theirs. It's so mild but amazing flavor. If you love this kind of food, go give them a try. So good

Belgian Frites with curry ketchup and garlic aioli were double fried and so good. My son said this was one of the best meals he has ever had (Pork Bratwurst, Veal and Garlic Bockwurst, Wild Boar and Cranberry Sausage which was his favorite, Elk Cheddar and Jalapeño Sausage). I had the Smoked Gouda Spatzle with Kielbasa. The service and atmosphere were very good. My only complaint was that there is a lack of parking for the restaurant and we had to park a good distance away, which wasn't so bad walking to it which was downhill, but getting back to our car up the mountain was much harder.

FOOD: Bacon Cheeseburger (10/10): The barbecue options didn't really catch our attention, so we went with a burger. You can't go wrong with a good burger, and this place delivered. The patty was juicy, the bacon was crispy, and the barbecue sauce added an extra layer of flavor. We also ordered a side of crispy onion rings, which paired perfectly with the burger. Loaded Fries (10/10): The fries were delicious. We chose the pork topping, and it did not disappoint. The fries were crispy, the meat was tender, and everything was topped with pico de gallo and a delicious cilantro sauce. Would definitely get it again. SERVICE/AMBIANCE: The restaurant was spacious and clean, with both indoor and outdoor seating. We arrived early, so it was relatively empty, which made for a relaxing experience. Service was relatively quick and prices were also reasonable. I'd definitely come back the next time we're in Tahoe, especially since I've heard their chili is really good!

It is so tender and the flavor from the smoke is so delicious. I only eat chicken breast and usually when I get it out, it is dry and bland, but this one was AMAZING!! Full Rack Baby Back Ribs - My mom loved the dry rub on the ribs. If you don't like dry rub, there is BBQ sauce to dip it in. Again, super tender snd smoky. Chili - A little sweet, so compliments the savory BBQ perfectly. Fries - My husband loved the seasoning on these fries. The are super crunchy and comes on a big platter (we ordered the smallest portion of fries too). Great compliment to the BBQ. Such an underrated restaurant! 10/10 would come back when I'm visiting Lake Tahoe!

Once we got here we were promptly greeted and sat outside. Our waitress, Rocio, was excellent throughout our time there and promptly brought us waters and was ready to take our order. We started off with some miso soup, sunomuno salad and gyoza. It didnt take long for those initial items to show up and everything was solid. For our main meal we ordered the Typhoon and Noname roll, and Ceviche and Rooster Salmon nigiri. The sushi took a bit longer to come out but it when it did it came out in an awesome shark plate and honestly that just made my day The sushi itself was very good and the standout for me was the noname roll, which I ordered because it had pecan in it, which I thought was interesting, and I loved it because the pecans gave the roll a great crunch and worked well with all other ingredients. Overall I super enjoyed this place and will for sure keep in on my short list for places to eat when in South Lake Tahoe.

Our next option was to check Yelp and this place looked promising. It was just about a couple of miles away and had plenty of good reviews. We drove down the main strip and headed to our alternate destination. It's located inside a weird-looking interior strip mall that has a separate shared restroom with the rest of the businesses contained in the building. The restaurant staff wasn't too welcoming upon entry as we got seated and service was as warm and hospitable as the weather outside. We ordered a Calamari ($15.50) for appetizers, and we each got a Combination Pho ($18.50). I chose to change my noodles to Egg Noodles (which I typically do at other Pho places) and wifey opted for the Flat Noodles. (More commentary on this later). I know prices have gone significantly higher since the Pandemic and with the recent tariffs, jacked-up inflation and all other factors beyond our control, I typically don't bat an eye now with the cost of how much everything is worth nowadays....and expectedly so. The server didn't even mention that it was gonna cost us extra to change the Rice Noodle to our preference of noodle. Although I noticed it way after as it was stated on their menu (shame on us for not reading), it would have been nice if the server provided us with this info. As for the food, the Calamari was so-so and inconsistent. Some pieces were crispy and some pieces were soggy. The coating was very doughy and bland. They were also cut very thinly and lacked the snap. The Pho was basic and uneventful. But the worst part of the food was the garnishes. These were still soaked in water they there were literally dripping water on the sauce. Did they just grab them from a container, plopped them on a saucer and didn't even bother draining the water on a dry rack? You can see the pool of water left on the saucer plates. And I mentioned the warm service earlier. It was hard to flag down a server as they kept passing by us and almost felt like they were ignoring us even though we would wave and raise our hands as they delivered the food to our surrounding tables in an attempt to get their attention. They weren't wearing blinders, but it felt like they were. Also....don't get me started when patrons receive their orders first even though we placed our orders prior to their arrival. Yeah....I hate it when that happens. Lastly, let's backtrack on my commentary on the pricing. It was a sticker shock when we received the bill since I didn't realize it cost extra to replace the noodles (even though it's stated on the menu as I realized later on). It would have been nice if they server mentioned this, but service was lackluster from beginning to end.
