It's a quaint little spot and they have plenty of yummy choices, and they're open late. Drinks were very good, no complaints there. I've been coming here since 2012 and I really liked it at first. Yes it gets a little crowded in there but it's manageable. Food is okay but a little on the higher price range. I've never gotten coffee here so there's that. Owners are this Asian couple that have never once given me a smile. I have heard from previous employers that they treat their employees unfairly. I get that it's a business and they're not there to make friends only money but where is the customer service and human decency? My husband picked up my order and brought it home, guess he should've checked before... missing one of the items and my chicken panini had mustard when it wasn't supposed to. I've been coming here for many years and they never disappoint me, this is a go-to spot! They have a pleasant & relaxing ambiance serving you with a nice & friendly staff. I always come for the Chicken breast panini deluxe, which is super bomb dot com! Tasteful and filling for sure. I also get the Vanilla soy latte, sometimes changing it up with the Chai tea latte with soy. Both are delicious, with the soy bringing out the flavor in both! Whether it's raining or shining, you can always come here to socialize and or get work done. They offer free Wi-Fi, outside seating, and ice cream as well! I knew this place was heaven as soon as I walked in and heard that delightful little chime on the door. This place is within walking distance of my place, so I was able to justify getting coffee and a pastry. I also really enjoy the breakfast sandwiches - I usually opt for the ham and egg croissant. It's really straightforward; I suspect they use Costco ham, fluffy eggs, and yellow cheese. But sometimes you are craving just a Mom-style ham and egg sandwich and this one delivers just that. And of course, the coffee there is delicious. A true coffee test for me is if I can drink it black and it not taste like burnt ass (cough cough Starbucks). The only thing really stopping it from 5 stars is two things: the bathroom and the employees. I was kinda grossed out using the restroom there. I had a flashback to my dive bar nights. Some of the employees there have absolutely no personality. And if they do, they are certainly not expressing it. Listen, you work at a cute coffee shop if you hate people that much that you can't even look me in the eye while taking my order and sigh heavily when I ask questions about your items that perhaps you are in the wrong field. I adore 3rd Street Coffee! It is, by far, my favorite coffee shop in the Downey area. I have been going there since they opened (must be over ten years ago) and have not had a single bad experience. The coffee drinks are delicious! I usually stick to the Blended Vanilla Latte Lite which is sugar-free and fat-free. Super-addicting and great if you're on a diet and want a treat. I also recommend the White Thunder, the Third Street Mocha, and the Vanilla Bean blended drinks. I agree- the lunch specials are very good! I usually get the Vegetarian Bliss Sandwich which is such a creative and delicious combination of ingredients: cream cheese, hummus, avocado, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers. I usually get two lunch specials to go- one for lunch and one for dinner! Best to-go lunch deal for vegetarians in Downey! :) The sofas are super-comfy, and I love that they have all the celebrity gossip magazine out there for patrons. The decor is very cute and just what I look for in a cafe. They've also installed one of those tv's that gives updates on the news, politics, weather, sports, astrology, etc. The owners are incredibly sweet and nice. They have been the owners since the beginning and have truly done a great job. The cafe is consistently busy with plenty of regulars who know how good this place is. This is a very cute cafe. Its kind of hidden so I would've never known it was here. It is open til 12 so it's a nice place to grab a bite to eat after work or just to unwind at the end of the day. The crowd was pretty young high school children. Probably all waiting to watch New Moon. Well they have variety of teas and blended drinks. They have a cheap lunch special for about 7.00. It comes with a sandwich, soup and a can of soda. I missed the lunch but I did try the vegetarian sandwich. It was delish! It has cream cheese and hummus! Even for the non-vegetarians..its a MUST TRY! it was about 6.00 so you'll have to come back during lunch hours..because for 7.00 it's a steal! =D The worker and manager are very friendly too. My wife and I enjoy this place. It's got a great atmosphere that almost feels like someone's living room. The furniture is soft and comfortable and there are some mags hanging around to enjoy while you drink a chai latte. Once you get inside, if you make your way to the far right hand corner of the room, you'll find a wall board full of business cards, which is just fun to look over. 3rd Street Coffee only irritated me in one area: music. It's a coffee house, right? Why does Britney Spears and every other pop sensation ring in my ear? And so loud at that? Sigh. Almost guys. Still, a great place to hang out with friends. I love this place! I'm from East La and I don't mind driving all the way to Downey. My go to is the chipotle chicken panini! I read a review saying the chipotle sauce drips to much.... but hello it's chipotle sauce. (What do you expect). It's so good. They ask you if you want everything on it as well. The chipotle sauce is spicy, but for me it's perfect. I love their green tea blended frapp. The owners are really friendly, and the employees as well. It does get busy during lunch time. Very cute and small coffee/sandwich place right across from the movie theater. A nicely warm place to walk into, you can instantly smell the aroma of coffee from the back of the cafe. I ordered a milk tea boba and a chocolate chip muffin. Batista was super friendly and had a small conversation about my earrings. Very sweet gal and costumer service on point. It was white and tasted nothing like mango, and since when mango only drinks come out white? If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I created a Yelp account specifically so I could write a review of this place. I ordered the blended mango boba drink. I wasn't expecting it to be the best boba drink I had ever had, but I did expect it to be drinkable. Usually when I order any type of mango beverage, it has a distinct yellow color. You can imagine my surprise when my drink was a cream color. It ended up tasting like medicine. I had only had a sip of it when I asked the young woman working the register if she could make me something else because what I was given tasted absolutely nothing like mango. She agreed to make me something else. This is when the owner came out with my discarded drink in hand telling me that mango is there best selling flavor and it isn't his fault that I didn't like mango. I love mangoes, but whatever concoction they gave me didn't taste like mango nor did it resemble something that could have been made from a mango. After a lot of back and forth, he agreed to give me half of my money back. Five Seconds later he comes back because he can't split $3.95. He asks me if I want the other drink I was told I was going to get instead of my money back. I said no. He finally just hands me $2, and I go on my way.
