The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. Once the order was placed and food delivered, attentiveness seemed to disappear almost entirely. I'm not sure where the standard is set.. Given the location and atmosphere, there's an expectation of a more refined and welcoming experience, but the execution never quite supports the price point or reputation. If you do visit, avoid outdoor seating unless you're prepared for an even more disconnected service experience. Ultimately, there are far better places to spend your brunch budget. Especially when this is the kind of meal many could comfortably recreate at home with fresher ingredients and more care. My experience at Poached had both positives and areas that could definitely use improvement. The service staff was friendly, and the food had good flavor overall, but the level of attentiveness did not match the prices being charged. I did not like having to pay and provide a gratuity before receiving service, especially when the service was lacking. On several occasions, we had to get up from our table and walk inside to request coffee refills because no one followed up or checked on us. The hostess and management team could benefit from additional training in delegating responsibilities and reinforcing stronger customer service standards with the wait staff. Unfortunately, most of the servers seemed disengaged, while the only consistently attentive employee was the busboy, who did an excellent job keeping the tables clean and organized. I ordered the Chile Verde Benedict. While it tasted good, it was disappointing to notice that some of the ingredients appeared to be store-bought, including the green enchilada sauce and the hollandaise sauce. Again, the dish had good flavor, but for the price point, I expected more fresh, made-from-scratch ingredients. This restaurant definitely has the potential to live up to its pricing and atmosphere. When you walk up to the restaurant, there will be a host waiting for you. They will ask you whether you prefer to sit outside or inside. They will give you a card and ask you to choose a table. Once they give you the card, you go up to the cashier and place your order. They will give you a number card to place on your table. Tip is not required, but the screen will pop up at time of payment whether you would like to leave a tip or not. I ordered their steak and eggs with hashbrowns and sourdough toast ($30), and fresh squeezed orange juice ($6). I think it was a little too pricy for what I ordered. We chose to sit outside because it was a gorgeous day and it was sunny. There was a glass bottle of water for us and silverware. While we dined, we didn't really see anyone that came to check on us. At the end, when we were finished with our meals, we needed some containers. Like I said, there wasn't anyone to ask for anything, but there was a station that had some containers already set up for self service. Their fresh squeezed (machine like Jamba's) orange juice was a little on the tart side, but it was fresh. When our order came, the food plating and presentations were beautiful and very colorful. I really enjoyed their hashbrowns because it wasn't your typical thinly chopped potatoes. They were thick and it was golden brown. The steak was cooked to my liking, medium rare. I wanted more butter for my toast, but couldn't get anyone to come over and assist me. They have two gender neutral bathrooms. The restroom smelled very citrusy and was very clean. Each time we looked over at the entrance, there was a long line to dine in or place an order to go. After we finished, we also ordered some food to takeout for our families. We had to go back in line and place our order. The only difference is that they ask for your phone number and will text you when your order is ready for pickup. There were a few benches just outside of the restaurant for you to sit and wait. I'm not sure if I will return, my husband said their chilaquiles weren't that great and that he had better. I was in the area swung by and the line was only a 15 minute Wait so we stayed this time the previous two times we've tried to eat here. The lines were ridiculous But they didn't disappoint. It has been a while almost since before Covid, since we last went to Poached and I would say it's still delivering in both taste and quality. My daughter and I went for brunch on a Saturday. I was surprised by how packed it was, which just shows how much people love the food and ambiance here. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor area has a mix of booths and regular tables with chairs. Initially, I was worried that with so many people and a line waiting to be seated the wait might be 30 to 45 minutes. However, the line moved quickly and it didn't even take more than 15 minutes before we could order. One convenient thing was that we could view the menu while waiting in line by scanning a QR code and be ready to order by the time we reached the counter. I ordered the Chilaquiles Verde, while my daughter chose the House Benedict. We also wanted to try the Tres Leches Waffle, which was listed on the scanned menu but we were told it was a seasonal item and unavailable at the time. We asked for a recommendation between the Gingerbread Waffles and the Bananas Foster Pancakes. The person taking our order recommended the Gingerbread Waffles unless we wanted something very sweet, as the Bananas Foster Pancakes were on the sweeter side. We also ordered a Peppermint Hot Chocolate for my daughter and a Matcha Latte for myself. At the entrance they have a color coded card system which I believe is for table selection. Before handing us a white card they asked if we preferred indoor or outdoor seating. I chose indoor seating and they told us to sit at any small table with two chairs. The cashier collected our card when we placed our order and confirmed our seating choice. We received our drink in few minutes and food followed after. We enjoyed our hot drinks. The Chilaquiles were good, with fresh avocado, pickled onions, radish and a side of black beans though I wish there had been a bit more meat. The House Benedict was delicious, especially the poached eggs. Among our savory entrees, the Gingerbread Waffles stood out as the star of the meal. Overall, we were satisfied with both the service and the food. Few things I feel could be improved: - Ordering at the counter can feel a bit intimidating when you know people are waiting in line behind you and the cashier is also waiting on you to decide quickly. - Tip is asked upfront when paying for the order. - The small table for two felt a bit cramped. With three plates, two hot drinks and water cups it was difficult to move things around, especially since me and my daughter wanted to share our food.
