I really enjoyed this place. It is fairly large and there is plenty of room. The staff from all three businesses were extremely polite and friendly. 3TOG is special, you can feel it when you walk in - and the beauty of the place is that it has only just begun. Located across the Oldham County line on a plot of land once a part of Yew Dell Gardens it is tucked in next to their sister meadery (more on that in a sec!) and a craft distillery. Because of the space available this brewery and Biergarten is nothing of not sprawling, giving the guests in warmer weather (ie 9 of 12 months here) the ability to stroll between bar areas amongst twinkling lights and wisteria, under canopies of redbuds and through greenhouse shelters. The long beautiful wooden table down the middle of the sheltered garden invites people to come together - and they do -it is a communal, happy, laid back party every time I'm outside there. Kids and dogs included. Echoes of the property's botanical garden history have been preserved and I love that decision, artfully adding seating, fire pits, outdoor bar areas around the beauty of the property rather than raze it down and start over like many would have. Well done. The 3rd Turn beer selection is as fabulous here as it is in Jeffersontown, which ironically was my favorite brewery in town until they opened up their OC location (talk about a delighted future patron when I heard the news). They do special beer tappings (this weekend's Release The Tropical Monkey was on point!) and are adding a mead bar this spring (mead is made with a honey base and - ya'll - I've had samples of their initial offerings and once this stuff is out for general consumption I may just set up a tent and never leave.). And I love that 3T supports the best of the local craft beer community also bringing in interesting brews from Country Boy, Goodwood, ATG, and the rest of our all stars. With two entirely different beer selections in the inside bar versus the outside bar feel free to sample away because the choices are plentiful and the bartenders and wandering owners are happy to stop in their tracks to discuss the merits of one over another with you - beer enthusiasts are welcomed here with open arms. And speaking of ownership. Living just up the road I come in enough to be considered a regular and, as such, have a sense of who the other regulars tend to be. The 3T ownership group is here in small groups (if not every one of them) every. Single. Time. I'm. Here. And I have such respect for that, especially given another location - they are positive and open and enthusiastic and so excited about you being there and having a good time. They ARE 3rd Turn, as much as the beer, as much as the place itself. Finally I would be remiss if I didn't talk about the food at the attached grill. Mark and the grill staff are low key gourmet out there, almost weirdly high quality when honestly you're expecting basic wings and bar food. Seriously, check out my pictures, I can't help but brag on them. Giant prawn shrimp anyone? Seasonal charcuterie plate? Poutine? Fried brussel sprouts are a personal favorite, I hear there's a healthy amount of vegetarian options, and of course their wings ARE amazing and bbq sandwiches and nachos but don't skip over the weekly specials because O.M.G. I've lived in the heart of beer country in Colorado for several years, have visited breweries from coast to coast, and I can tell you that this one ranks as one of the best among them in setting, beer quality, innovation, and staff of all that I've experienced. Evenings in the Biergarten have been nothing short of magical on occasion from day one, and they haven't even been open a year with big plans on the way for event space and more. We celebrated at 3rd Turn last night and it was perfect! We were able to reserve two tables ahead of time. The waitstaff was super friendly as usual (must have been our cake bribery)! The Shamrock Shake with White Russian and mint flavoring was fabulous! For St. Patrick's Day the grill was serving Irish Stew, which I heard was very good. I LOVED the Reuben Egg rolls and, my standby, grilled Brussel sprouts. They were willing to make the sprouts without seasoning too. All of this made us love this place even more!!! read more

My first experience with 3rd Turn was at the J-Town location and that's where I learned of their second at Oldham Gardens. The entrance from the main highway is a bit hidden by a railroad bridge. FYI take caution- The gravel entrance and drive is in need of major repairs, what appeared to be small puddles were deep pot holes. Two separate entrances, left to tap house, right to the casual seating grill house area with tv's and board games. We grabbed a couple drafts, mine a bourbon brew and hers a cider ale. There is a small selection of liquor mostly bourbon. The interior is ship lap surroundings many large bar top tables. After losing a couple games it was time we ventured to the garden area. A surprisingly large area where once a few Greenhouses stood is now a really cool patio of picnic tables with mature wisteria growing above offering great shading on a hot summers day. Also a lawn filled with fire-pits and corn holes boards. A couple outside bars with patio string lights add a relaxing touch. There are additional covered green houses under remodeling construction to expand the garden. So much I can't wait to see completed. There is a another outdoor grill serving burgers and sandwiches. Look forward to returning for a few more brews in warmer weather to see the completed garden expansion. read more

This was our first time here! I honestly had never even heard of this place until someone suggested it to us to cap off our date night. It was so cool! Parking was chaotic, but people were leaving when we arrived so we lucked out in a prime spot up front. We walked inside and ordered our drinks from the bar. There's a list on the wall with all of their local beers. They have a description, pricing, and alcohol contents. I tried a Moody Tongue it was delish. This building is also where you'll find restrooms and drinking water. After getting our beers, we went outside to find a spot to hang out with our group. There are greenhouses (minus their coverings) lined up with dozens of various seating under them. A few of them have wisteria hanging overhead. So pretty. There are also flowers planted all around. There was a wedding going on in one big area of the greenhouse patio area, so it did kind of limit our options. We ended up settling on a further out greenhouse that was basically empty of other people. Other than having to listen to the incredibly loud speeches from the wedding, it was pretty nice! We stopped by this location last night after the concert at Yew Dell Gardens. I've wanted to check it out since they opened and finally got the opportunity. What an amazing space! This place is huge and there is plenty of seating for everyone in nice shaded areas. We met two of the owners who introduced themselves and talked to us for probably 20 minutes about their vision and expansion into the future. Cool guys. We all tried the pineapple bourbon slush and it was the perfect drink for a warm summer evening. BBQ pork sandwiches were very good too! We definitely will be returning soon! read more

Food is gross and way overpriced. My fiancé got the brisket grilled cheese- very small portion of meat, it was just a overpriced grilled cheese. I got the wings which lacked juiciness and weren't tender. The drinks are different and the bourbon slushes lack alcohol. I drank 3 of them and never got any sort of buzz. read more

This place is bit hidden but worth finding. If you like good beer, a cool atmosphere and tasty food- then this spot is for you! We went for a friend's wedding celebration last weekend and had a huge outdoor space reserved. There are multiple bar areas, 2 of which are outside. The beer selection was on point with several IPA's, stouts, and various seasonal beer. The bartenders were great and the scenery was so chill and pretty. They have a big event space that is covered also and there was another wedding reception going on in there. We may have went in for a few minutes to dance and check it out. The only food items I had were the Brussel Sprouts and the pretzels with beer cheese but both of those were stellar. read more

We recently visited 3rd Turn's Christmas market and it was a wonderful experience. The German inspired food was great and the prices very reasonable. We enjoyed a variety of delicious mead, red and white Glühwein and some nice brews. There are plenty of seating options and even though it was quite crowded we always found a spot to sit down and take in the atmosphere. The market section could have been a bit larger but it was an overall wonderful event that deserves 5 stars! I will definitely be back for a regular visit to the brewery soon! read more

And if your curiosity has you wondering why, one sip will explain it all. 3rd Turn has a wide variety of craft beers with unique flavors that will make you want to try them all. No need to worry about space. While it may look small from the street, there is enough seating to host 1/2 of Oldham County. Large tables made of reclaimed wood and finished with high gloss are perfect for large groups. The majority of seating is outside; however it feels like it's inside because of the gorgeous canopy of vines overhead which provide shade and allow for a cool breeze. Didn't try the food but it looks good and some friends raved about it. Really nice for OC to have a trendy, eclectic place to go. read more

Hidden gem in Crestwood. The only bummer about this place is that it's starting to catch on. I'm actually surprised it took this long (about 8 months). Parking is tight, but plenty of room to enjoy once you get in. It's a brewery/beer garden. Nice indoor hang outs, but a little small. Beer bar indoors with 16 or 18 taps. 6 of theirs and the rest are craft. They also have several bourbons and a few frozen drinks. Outside is amazeballs. Old greenhouses transformed into a super relaxing and enjoyable hang out. Beer bar outside and they just opened a mead bar. You can hang out under a wisteria roof, or play some corn hole. A few people bring friendly dogs. A few bring kids (don't let your kids running around free at a brewery the staff and the other customers don't like it). Also have great food choices. More appetizer types than straight up meals, but I have made them my dinner more than once and been happy about it. They constantly swap out for fun new items too. May be one of my favorite places in the area, especially if the weather is nice. read more

It's a rare thing lately that I get to venture much further outside the lopsided triangle that forms my home, my sons' schools and work. My days pretty much follow that path, a side road here and there to add variety or avoid traffic but the trail is fairly well worn and usually not strayed from. However, those who know me, know I like to wander. I like to travel down roads I've never been, take sharp curves at too fast speeds and take a turn down a road not knowing where it leads. But I am getting older, time is growing shorter, and sometimes, I just want to reach the destination. Which leads somehow to an invitation to 3rd Turn Oldham Gardens in Crestwood, a place I'd wanted to try but one outside my usual realm. However, a simple invite was enough to nudge me in that direction. A few turns away from the perfect destination, I found 3rd Turn has great brews, good food, and in this case, fantastic company. It's a comfortable, relaxing place to be, one I could certainly get accustomed to, but far enough away (and I'm likely just enough past my youth) that I'll probably not get that opportunity often. This place is adorable! Great atmosphere, good beers, and family-friendly. Just forwarning. NEVER NEVER order food unless you want to wait over an hour for it, LITERALLY. My poor mother waited in the cold for our meal, and that's ridiculous. If you can't get the help you need, then hire more people. Don't waste your time waiting on mediocre food. read more

This place is amazing. It has some of my favorite things: nature, repurposed wood and booze. The owners bought this when it was a rundown greenhouse and transformed it into an amazing space. The potential here is incredible, with a total of eight acres. I talked to the owners today and they will be renting the space out for a wedding/reception next weekend.
