As spring approaches this is a beautiful place to relax when the weather is just right. The bees are present but more interested in the environment than your family. Plenty to do for small kids and this place is great for well behaved pets. Every nook and cranny has a different food vendor, I believe I saw 4 total. There were two bar sections and they have a cooler with different options to drink as well. I have never been here until this most recent trip, and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this environment was and how inviting it feels. Probably my new favorite post work hangout to let the traffic die down. It even rained and the environment was still nice as there is plenty indoor shelter and overhead coverage to comfortable hold the amount of people that come out on a Friday night. read more

This is such a fun place with a great vibe. We stumbled upon this place after we already ate dinner. So we didn't eat anything this visit. We simply ordered a beer. The staff are super friendly and let us sample several beers before ordering. I ordered the 3rd Turn Swooly Jalapeño Fruited Kolsch. It was good and a little spicy with the jalapeño that is in it. There's a sign outside that says this is the second largest beer garden in the country. I'm gonna roll with it because I don't think you can argue with that. This is one of the most incredible spaces that I've seen transformed into a brewery. It is like an old greenhouse that has been turned into a space for folks to enjoy beer, and a variety of food options. If it's cold outside, you always have the indoor spaces where they have ample seating, ample options and plenty of TVs. I love coming for different events this year. Enjoy sitting in greenhouse spaces made for large and small gatherings. I'd even come here on my own if I was closer. The Backside Grill has items to indulge in for yourself or to share. Plenty of beers on tap as well as bourbon slushies, canned options and wine. We enjoyed the chicken nachos but would recommend skipping the pretzel a s beer cheese. The pretzel may have been sitting around too long and was too hard for the beer cheese to save. This is a family friendly spot. One group had spread out a birthday tabletop and brought in food and cakes to enjoy. Totally welcome. The music was not too loud to distract and disturb our conversation. Much appreciated. It's in an old plant nursery and some parts have vines growing everywhere giving it a fun green nature vibe. I feel like sometimes it can be hard to find both a great bar with great food and this one was amazing. Food can get a little pricey but I promise it is worth it (my personal favorite is the pretzel with queso from the Wager). Lots of seating for larger groups and a really nice atmosphere. It's also easy to have an actual conversation even when music is playing. The bar and food service/staff is so accommodating and nice. If you don't know what tap beverage you want they do samples so you don't order something that you don't like. Don't forget your bug spray in the summer time. read more

And in honor, I wanted to definitely send along a #ThankYouThursday kudos to TTOG! TTOG is an easy drive from Louisville in Crestwood, just up the road from Yew Dell Botanical Gardens. And ample outdoor beer garden space TTOG has in spades! You want a fire pit? There are several! A cozy corner for in my case my kids to play in and not (hopefully) annoy other patrons? Sure thing! A covered event space? Here ya go! Outdoor bars? Yep! The OK to bring dogs and kiddos (as long as they're well behaved)? You got it! My only wish is that TTOG was in Louisville. I would be there all the time. TTOG has several Third Turn beers on tap, as well as some other drinks. On the night we went you could get boozy or not hot apple cider. It also has some delicious food. I ordered the brisket grilled cheese -- perfection on a fall night! The pretzels, chips and Brussels sprouts were also faves among our group. I'm so excited to return, maybe on another crisp fall night or in the spring especially. read more

I'm so thankful to have a place like this in Oldham County. The location is so cool, if you haven't been you must go! it has the bones of an old greenhouse (covered in beautiful wisteria) turned into a beer garden, it's the perfect spot to relax after work. There's tons of parking and seating, They even have covered areas so you can enjoy no matter the weather. The beer selection is huge! If you're not a beer drinker (like myself) don't worry because they have adult slushees, rotating flavors but always delicious. They also offer mead, which is honey wine, in multiple flavors as well. If you haven't tried mead I highly recommend trying their orange blossom and the PB & J mead, sounds weird but it's pretty great. They also serve food. They've recently updated their menu and added tacos so we had to go try them out. You can buy a single taco for $6 or 3 for $15. I had a general Tso taco that I enjoyed, good flavor profile but it left me wanting more chicken. I also got a fish taco, I thought the flavor of the fish was great but it was topped with LONG piece of cabbage that I couldn't bite through. I think it would have been better finely chopped. Hubby got the veggie taco, he wasn't impressed said veggies lacked seasoning and the gyro taco which he said was pretty good. I'm not a fan of lamb so I passed on trying it. We also had the pretzel and beer cheese, which was the highlight of the meal. Before COVID we celebrated my moms birthday there with a group of friends. We were able to bring in our own cake and get a large table for us all. This is a great place for a big group of friends to hang out. Having repurposed a nursery with multiple greenhouses, there are many options for seating including open air picnic tables, gaming areas, and no need to crowd up. The service at the ordering stands (no table service that I saw) was excellent and all the locations are connected so no need to close a tab just because you've moved greenhouses. Guys, this place is MY JAM!!! 3rd Turn continues to rock out handcrafted venues (built by the owners). They upcycle as many materials as possible and do their best to maintain the unique venues natural magic. One must visit the majestic Wisteria in both the Spring as it blooms a delicious smell and dream into your third eyes view. And in the fall for its sweet farewell. In addition to visiting just because, we hosted our after elopement party at the long farm table. They were fantastic at also making a vegan beer cheese for myself and friends lining that are plant based! The chef is so very kind and has substituted ingredients for me in order to wat there more times than I can express! Thank you thank you! And now we are onto the beer. By far, my favorite brewery in Louisville. The tap changes almost daily and there is always something funky about even the most basic beers. I have difficulty drinking more than one beer total a day because of how heavy they can be. However, when consuming high abv beer that is clean and brewed the right way, I am able to drink multiple beers in one sitting. Which, makes it great for the beer lover that I am! Great spot! Finally made it here with some friends on a beautiful Friday night in late May. No problem finding a spot to sit in the outdoor "greenhouse" area for 9 of us. All the greenery that had grown up and the patio lighting really makes this spot a great spot for drinks. No service to your table, greenhouse, but there were 2 bars that we ordered from, one outside and one inside. Since this place is a brewery, it's more craft beers than anything else; however, the inside bar had liquor, I believe. I'm not a beer person so my options were limited... I got a bourbon slushy first from the inside bar and although it was tasty, it didn't seem to have much alcohol to it... surely didn't taste like it had any bourbon in it. I've had a bourbon slushy from the J-town 3rd Turn that surely had bourbon in it so I was a little disappointed in that. Anyhow, for my 2nd drink, I didn't want to do the slushy again so I got a cider. I think there were only 2 ciders to choose from... one inside and one outside. This was probably the worst cider I've had. I can't remember the name of it though. Food is available but it is a separate entity that is ordered at a window at the front of the establishment called Backside Grill. I ordered 2 "wandering" tacos at $6 each (or you can get 3 for $15)... I had the General Tso's and the Shrimp Po' Boy. These are not like a typical taco you would expect to get at a brewery such as this. I liked the General Tso's the best though... so yummy! Although, it was good, the Shrimp Po' Boy just seemed like a salad in a tortilla. A friend wanted wings but they were out of wings... something about a chicken shortage going on. read more

If you haven't checked this place out, you should. Indoor and outdoor bar areas, both with all different rotating tap beers. They also have mead, which I haven't had but it's honey wine. Lots of parking. Don't wear your heels, though, it's basically a farm. Our latest visit was a couple weekends ago, which was super crowded. There was a wedding going on so a few areas were off limits to us. We ended up hanging out in the last "greenhouse" towards the back of the property. We brought our pup so the front area near the outside bar would've been too much for him. Lots of kids running around. Picnic tables everywhere, horseshoes etc. They serve food up front, which we haven't had but looked pretty good...pulled pork sandwiches, beer cheese, etc. Definitely worth checking out, especially on a weekday evening. My friend was telling me this brewery was in an old nursery. Didn't really understand what he saying until walking through and drinking some beer. Got a porter and a imperial stout. Got some food at the food area they have on site. Pretty empty when we arrived right before opening but it definitely filled up over the two and half hours we were there. Parking lot too. I visited this establishment a few months ago with coworkers while in town briefly. I WISH. A place like this existed back at home for me because I would literally be there every Friday. A place to drink, enjoy good music, craft beers, sit by a fire pit with friends and just an all around social establishment! I had a great time as the a atmosphere was just so positively relaxing. My boyfriend brought me here yesterday, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the atmosphere! We got here around 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon, and it was not crowded upon our arrival. We were able to find a nice spot immediately. I noticed the crowds came between 5:30 and 6:30. Despite it being a warm day, the shade kept the area cool. I was comfortable the entire time. I tried the peach cider and the chips with ranch dressing. Both were delicious! This is such a great place to come to to have a couple of drinks. Next time, I plan to bring a game as they have long tables where this can be done. I liked the diversity of the crowd. Several families brought their children and dogs. We were able to tie our dog's leash to a pole, and there was enough space we didn't have to worry about her. I absolutely plan to return, and I'm excited to introduce others to this space as well. read more

I have liked the original 3rd Turn for years now. After my Fella made a recent stop to get a growler of the $240 Worth of Puddin' porter (which is...*sigh* liquid, delectable candy in beer form!), he excitedly told me the time had come and we would be making a Crestwood pilgrimage to visit the Oldham Gardens location. Oldham Gardens is home to three separate businesses, of which I think 3rd Turn is the most well-known, established, and probably the most popular. Part of that is because the 3rd Turn overlords (so-named with love and appreciation) have been consistent and proactive with marketing and cross-promoting both of their locations and what they have to offer on social media! Another part of that is because I think they were the first ones to move in to the space. We knew we were going to have a beer or two while also indulging in some mead. You can move freely in an out of the business spaces and take your goods with you to each. 3rd Turn has some really delicious and wonderful beers and they branch out, doing more than just one style of beer. I am always excited to visit 3rd Turn and try something new. Even if I don't like it, I know something on the menu will please my taste buds. I like that they also support local and craft breweries and have some guest taps. Literally the easiest way to get me to try new beer (aside from an at home beer share) is to take me to 3rd Turn! Inside, there are several high top tables perfect for large groups, as well as several smaller groups to slide up to. They have some games to partake in, but don't be surprised to see them missing pieces. Outside is a huge, long beer garden, with wisteria hanging down. Charming and picturesque, I gotta tell you. They have live music on the regular. And if you get hungry, there is a restaurant on-site, the Backside Grill. Be advised: the 3rd Turn bars have a shared POS/payment system, but if you want to order from the grill or the mead place, you need to use a different card or close out each time. They *are* separate businesses. The gravel parking lot is big, but if it gets busy there are no parking lines to guide you. It can get crowded. But it is a blast! The beer flows, is cold, and the people are great! You should absolutely make a jaunt out to Oldham County to pay them a visit! You won't be mad about it! read more

I missed the $240 Puddin' at the Jtown location so I traveled out to this location. I picked up a growler of it and had one of the other beers they had on tap. I noticed there were multiple businesses including a meadery. After telling my gf about the meadery, we were back out here the very next day to stay a while. Meadery. 3rd Turn. Restaurant. Gardens. The following Thursday, I had a doctor's appointment nearby. What happened earlier that day? They updated their menu to have a new beer.. Loco - A Maple Bourbon-barrel aged Sour Stout. You read that right... and YOU COULD TASTE EVERY DESCRIPTOR IN THAT! I've been out there three times already in a week. I'm blown away by how awesome it is. That Loco(Maple Bourbon-Barrel Aged Sour Stout) really sealed the deal. That liquid was delicious. I should've ordered more but I hope they bring it back at some point. Other notes: -- Music on Saturday. -- Games inside. -- Taps inside and outside. -- Decent food. -- Mead if you want to switch it up. I also had a beer a few years ago(at the original 3rd Turn) that was a chocolate orange stout. 3rd Turn has been around for a few years but they're quickly becoming a favorite. No one else in town is doing things like they're doing. You could compare maybe Against the Grain but with AtG it's more about having variety than quality oddball beers. Everyone knows I love Gravely but other than their Cherry Stout(RIP) and their Blood Orange IPA, I don't really have another go-to beer from them that makes me excited. It is tough that this location is so out of town but it's a cool space. I loved that the taproom and the gardens are spaced out. Most bars clump dozens of people together. This spot has plenty of space to hang and stretch out. There are many breweries in town and if you're visiting, you should visit as many as you can(preferably). If you can't make it to them all, 3rd Turn is one of them that you must visit. If not the gardens, then make it to the original location in Jtown. My best friend had her wedding here on Labor Day weekend. She had been planning this wedding from Connecticut for about a year. They worked very well with her. Especially during the covid era. It's been amazing to see how much the area has changed in the last 10 years and the addition of the 3rd Turn Beer Garden has made an excellent touch!! The Beer Garden has a very large outdoor seating section (so big that there could be multiple parties and groups there and you would have no idea!) they have multiple bars so that there is easy access for replenishment no matter where you sit. There was plenty of options for beer lovers, as well as some wine selections. while the food options are minimal, each item I had was great! I anticipate that my family and I will make visits to 3rd Turn each time I am in town in the future! read more

3rd Turn Oldham Gardens get a major award for most unique outdoor setting to enjoy a delicious beer! It was our first trip and we were glad we made the drive to rural Crestwood, KY. We decided to make the trip outside of our usual urban setting at a friend's invitation. The beer garden is set among old greenhouses one of which features a massive Wisteria in the middle and growing over the top of the greenhouse frames. It must be breathtaking when it blooms. I think I will put a note on my calendar to check this out next spring!!! There are many different areas with tons of tables and benches. There is a nice indoor taproom with lots of delicious 3rd Turn beers and beers from other breweries. There is also an outdoor bar with different beer selections from the inside taproom. Prices are reasonable and the selection is very good. Food is available through Backside Grill at Oldham Gardens which appears small but has a great menu with delicious food to complement the wide beer selection. They have great dry rub wings and the Caprese salad special was hands down the best I have had this summer! It was chock full of vine ripened tomatoes. Summertime on a plate! Oldham Gardens has venue space for weddings, showers and birthday parties. It is very unique and they have lots of parking. We had a great time and will return for more delicious beer and to get a glimpse of that monster Wisteria this fall after it sheds its leaves and most definitely next spring when it is in full bloom. read more

My favorite local craft beer. Actually my favorite craft beer anywhere and the fact that it is in an old greenhouse that has become a "beer garden", in every sense of the word, makes it even better. They have bands that play on weekends, there's an occasional yoga class, they have party areas, and corn hole. Also, if you don't like beer for whatever reason, they have wine, bourbon, slushies, and meade. Also as if you need more, they have great food! There are two great food areas, one on the "backside" that has a large selection and one in the garden itself which usually serves just meat options. I personally don't drink, but my best friend does and loves coming here so I often join her! The atmosphere is great inside and out (and over by the Meadery as well). Everyone that works here is kind and they often offer samples of the drinks! Most recently, we came and hung out by the Meadery and had a great experience. It was my best friend's birthday and the employee working the Meadery let her and the rest of our group sample several flavors and even gave her a full size drink on the house for her birthday! In the past, we have also come during Oktoberfest and had a great time with all the activities they had going on. They also serve food which I would say we like about 75% of the time.
