Quality spot! Feel it's only right to start with the brewery aspect...some excellent pours to be had (absolutely loved the seasonal pumpkin when I visited!). Cocktails are not to be missed either...the chai take on an old fashioned was one of the more unique and enjoyable drinks I've had! And, lest I leave out the option for everyone...pizzas are pretty darn good! I've seen some reviews that the food takes a while, but my experience was almost irritatingly to the opposite...pizza was out by the time the drinks arrived. My point is not to critique, just that pacing can be a little off depending on the crowd. Interior feels a little cramped with a crowd, but the beer garden space is awesome when the weather is good! All told, well worth a visit.

I would highly suggest this place. This place is perfect for the small party. You will have your own private room for the party. Their whipped feta and the pizzas were so good. All of the ladies enjoyed it a lot. Also we enjoyed the beers and cocktails. It was truly great time!

I have been wanting to try Hop Atomica for a long time and I finally made a stop. My first impression was how clean, shiny and modern everything is. Most breweries that I've been to tend to have a rustic feel so it was nice to see something different. They also have a beer garden which is pretty spacious. They do have a decent menu of beer and pizza but the menu on the tables are not the same as the ones that are displayed by the bar. My husband's first 2 picks were on the paper menu but were not available to order. I don't remember the name of the beer I received but I enjoyed it. I also ordered the Fungi pizza. I liked the pizza but wish it has a little more sauce. The service was not the greatest. There were servers but they wanted us to order using a QR code which did not work. We ended up going to the bar to order and I never felt more sorry for the bartenders. They were insanely understaffed and I could tell they were working insanely hard to try to keep up. One of the bartenders, Jacob was great. I didn't get the name of the other person but he was doing a good job also. Hop Atomica is nice but I probably will try the other breweries before making another stop in

Really good experience! They have self serve water / silverware & plates. You order from a QR code on your phone at your table. Pizza was incredible. I had the mushroom and my partner had the pesto. The beers were just ok in my opinion. I'd go back for the pizza!

This was my second visit to Hop Atomica. The first time I visited in person for an event and was so impressed by the variety of beers on tap- I love ciders and sours and Hop Atomica had multiple options. They have a big patio that looks perfect to enjoy a beer in the warmer weather. This week, I grabbed carryout as part of the Louisville Restaurant Week special. That Winter Blues salad was full of goat cheese and fresh, ripe blueberries and blackberries - so good. The Fig and Pig was a fun pizza with the fig jam. The smoked wings were alright, but I was happiest about the house-made ranch that came on the side.

Second visit and Fantastic experience here. I didn't realize they make their own liquors too and I have to say the margarita maybe is my fav around the ville. Delicious pizza too, very fresh ingredients the crust is fluffy and crispy. Great vibe, modern and easy street sparking and a lot behind the venue. This is going to be added to our date night rotation!

Everything was delicious!!! You do order online while you are at the restaurant and then they will bring your food out to your table.

This is not the review I wanted to write. There's so much promise that remains unfulfilled at Hop Atomica. Paul, as the owner, I'm going address my comments directly to you. I know you're proud of your "self service" approach to ordering. But it flat out fails. It's been a consistent theme in comments since the day you opened. It's chaotic at best and damn confusing. We tried ordering by the app, but there's no way to customize an order. Want cauliflower crust? (We did). Get up and tell the guy at the bar. Want some special toppings? Get up and tell the guy at the bar. Why not just tell a server and save your guests the trouble? Need a water refill? Go get it yourself. Another constant theme you said you've addressed is burnt pizza crust. Sorry, it's still coming out black on the edges. See our picture. Noise. Many folks have complained about the loud music. My watch clocked over 100 decibels. That's short term hearing loss for a brief exposure and a flat out health hazard to your employees. It certainly doesn't make for comfortable conversation. One can barely hear themself think. Service. Well, that's another issue. You've got servers carrying food with no idea who ordered it. They Hop (pun intended) from table to table asking what food we ordered. Add a table number with an order and give the kids a chance to serve properly. BTW, my order of wings came out a full 20 minutes before my wife's pizza was brought to the table. Would you be happy with that service? One other thing. When I placed our order at the bar, no one brought out the beer. Again, self service, as you might have guessed it, as I had to get up and get the bar guy to pour it. He can't be both an order taker and a bar tender. It just doesn't work. Bottom line? You've been open 18 months and Hop Atomica still hasn't worked out the kinks. But based on the crowd on Friday evening, our concerns don't seem to be affecting business. From what we saw, the under 30 crowd loves the place and knows how the place works (or doesn't work). Your food is good. Very good. I'm not a fan of smoked wings, but yours were above average. The dry rub had good flavor (though I don't know why it's called a Korean rub). The wings were good sized and served nice and hot. The pizza was also quite good, although more of a European style. It came hot, lots of cheese. The gluten free crust (which you had, then didn't have, then had again-all depending on who we spoke to) was thin and crisp. And once you got past the burnt edges, quite tasty. But not everyone wants pepperoni on pizza. Sometimes a simple veggie pizza is desired. But at Hop Atomica it takes an act of congress to get some non-meat toppings. There's lots of beer to choose from. And it's served up cold. And the bar tender was generous with samples to help you find a beer to suit your taste. But the pluses of friendly people and good food and beer can't compensate for the frustrating experience of ordering and dining at Hop Atomica. I hope management takes a look at its practices and reconsiders. Hop Atomica is collapsing under its own weight. What worked at first isn't working now. As I said at the beginning of this review, "there's so much promise that remains unfulfilled."

We were traveling for pizza on our last night traveling to the area. Was a bit of a drive from downtown where we were staying and WOWEEEE! So glad we made it. The atmosphere was just perfect, staff was very friendly and it being our first time they were patient and answered all our questions! The interior was very well done, ALL BREW is made in house, we altered a pizza from menu and it wasn't a problem. We both chose small flights and enjoyed the brew, the pizza, I want to move to the loft nearby. Couldn't have been more on point! We sat outside, it was fantastic, they didn't forget about us or hover.

    THE HUMMUS
    Emily H.

My girlfriends and I have a tradition where we go out for lunch on Oaks Day. This year, we chose Hot Atomica and were so impressed! I had tried a sample of their food at the Taste of Derby and was so intrigued to go there myself. We started with the hummus, which was expertly plated and a step above normal hummus. The pretzel and beer cheese was also big enough for the four of us to share. It came out warm, and the beer cheese hit the spot. The main event, though, was the pizza. The Fig & Pig -- get this!!! The mix of mozzarella, fig jam, prosciutto and goat cheese is just perfect. I've been thinking about this pizza ever since we got it. We were able to easily get a table, and you can order from your table via an app. Their cocktails were also on point, though next time I want to try more of their beer. We will be back, especially to enjoy the outdoor patio!

One of my favorite Lou Brews!! Love the atmosphere, private rooms are available, and the patio is well lit and great for warm weather. The food is fantastic and there is a variety of yummy beers!

VERDE CARNE ASADA (November Pizza of the Month)
    Mariah C.

Hop Atomica has one of my favorite patios in Louisville. We attended there fall festival and won the doggie costume contest! We returned for pizza week. The verde carne asada pizza was tasty and for $10, it was a great deal. We also ordered the black garlic wings and 3 beers. Service was slow, our pizzas were served before our drinks, my partner had to run inside to ask about our drinks. The wings were tasty but didn't taste very garlicky. My blueberry wheat beer was one of my favorites! The restaurant is clean and bright. The pizza prices are pretty high regularly so I'm not sure if I would return without a gift card or special.

    Felicia G.

The quality is outstanding, and the pizzas and drinks are both delicious and uniquely crafted. I highly recommend giving Hot Atomica a try, bring your friends for a fun night out and enjoy the warm, welcoming hospitality. And definitely ask Paul for drink recommendations; he's a true wealth of knowledge.

During an early 2025 trip to Washington, D.C., we went to multiple establishments and, coincidentally or not, encountered this specific bourbon and just loved it. The most notable occurrence was at Jack Rose Dining Saloon, where I had literally the best Old-Fashioned I've ever had, using a special Angel's Envy that hung out in some sherry barrels for a while. Since then, we've both regularly ordered it when given the opportunity, and ultimately decided that the best way to appreciate this fine spirit was to go right to the source. So to the mothership we went. My chum did most of the heavy lifting here and scheduled a bourbon tour with Louisville Food Tours (very strong recommend) that featured Angel's Envy at the first stop. It's hard to really put into words what this building looks like as you walk in and explore, but it's just so...nice. It's classy without being inaccessible, and it just felt like a true cathedral of bourbon. As tasteful as the bourbon it makes. During our initial tour, we were probably in the distillery for a solid half hour plus, getting a quick tour of the still and fermenters before being led into a side room on the second floor to formally taste some bourbon. Paula was our guide, both during this tour and later on, and was just enormously impressive, which I touched upon in my review of the official tour as well. She's no-nonsense and loves her bourbon - who can't relate? We learned how to inspect the bourbon in the glass, to take a test sip to numb the pain receptors and to truly appreciate the subtle notes in the bourbon with the second sip. It was legitimately helpful, useful information that we're both going to utilize going forward. After our three-hour tour ended (go hard or go home), it wasn't even much of a discussion - we came back here for a few hours to soak in more of the atmosphere and drink some more bourbon. At this point, it was probably close to 5ish but the place was still pretty busy; somehow we were able to secure spots at the bar upstairs and made ourselves at home. I wish I could remember the name of our bartender (blame the time that has elapsed, not the bourbon), but he was very good, social without being oppressive and was just present and let us do our thing. After sipping straight bourbon for most of the afternoon, I switched to the Bourbon Renewal, which you'll be shocked to know includes Angel's Envy but is a more summer, fruit-forward cocktail and super refreshing. Was the right call and hit the spot. (We also got waters because that's the responsible thing to do.) We finally went back downstairs to the gift shop, which doesn't feel like the right term - it was more majestic than something you'd walk into after going through, say, a museum for an hour or two. It's enormous and offers numerous bourbons and also some very high quality swag. We reunited with our chum Paula and sampled their limited edition two-grain, which was created due to a fortunate mistake in which the rye wasn't added so it's just the corn and malted barley. You CAN see the difference and taste it; to me at least, it's more caramel-y than their normal single barrel. We each bought a bottle to bring back to the homeland. My chum basically bought half the store, but I remained calm/deliberate and my only other purchase was a MAGNIFICENT black hoodie. I'm not kidding - I love hoodies and have probably owned dozens over the years, and this is literally the best quality one I've had. It has this interesting front pouch pocket design with like a pocket within the pocket for high-priority items like your ID or credit cards, and the hood itself is interesting. It's just really good and I wore it all day the next day as we slowly made our way back to the East Coast. It's been washed and carefully placed in my closet, where it will reign supreme when the weather inevitably turns nippy again. It's not an exaggeration to say we probably spent hundreds of dollars (at least not thousands) directly and indirectly involving Angel's Envy on this trip. Worth it.

My group of four decided to wrap up our epic Bourbon Trail weekend at Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery right before heading to the airport. Having already hit six other distilleries over the weekend, we were completely "toured out" and opted to bypass the standard distillery tour. Instead, we headed straight upstairs to the bar and it was the best decision. We happened to visit right at the start of Derby week, so the entire building was alive and buzzing. Because of the festivities, they were highlighting their own rendition of the Derby fan favorite Mint Julep. I had to get one, and it did not disappoint. It was well crafted, perfectly balanced, and served in the classic, frost chilled sterling silver cup. Easily one of the best Juleps I've ever had. The bar area itself is beautifully appointed, sitting on one of the top floors of the historic building with a great atmosphere. A massive bonus: they offer patrons free bar snacks. The seasoned corn nuts were an absolute hit at our table, to the point where we had to ask for seconds (and they happily obliged!). Service was fantastic from start to finish. Despite the Derby week crowds, our water glasses were never empty and the cocktails came out incredibly fast. Whether you are doing a full day of tours or just want a world class drink in a stunning setting, Michter's is a phenomenal addition to any Louisville itinerary.

The cooper that was working was very energetic and treated us to a viewing of an actual barrel charring. I've never seen that in person and it was a real treat. The tour ends with a tasting that included a pin and a chocolate covered caramel marshmallow, which I ended up buying a full bag of later in the shop - they are so good! I found the high proof points to be draining, and so I can't recommend buying a bottle with my own money. The chocolates are a must pairing. Service, however, is super chill and friendly. The bar is a chill place to hang out afterwards, and the bitter blend for their Old Fashioned is stellar. I also bought a couple bars of soap. Earthy and aromatic!

What a wild disappointment. I do believe we came on and an off day, based on reviews and…read morerecommendations from friends, but our experience was so wildly unacceptable that I'm not sure it matters if we were an outlier. Our experience started at parking, there were multiple tour busses idling in the lot, and cars were parked rather haphazardly. We were directed to park on the side of the road with such a steep drop off, at one point our Yukon had two wheels off the ground. When checking in to the the $35/person tour (which we booked two weeks ago) I mentioned the parking situation and was told "yeah it's really bad, but we're working on it." I don't own a distillery, but seems an obvious solve is asking the tour buses to park up the road by the gift shop vs taking up space in the lot. We were eager to join our tour and forget about the stressful lot but alas, our tour was an absolute shit show. I stopped counting when I hit to 50 people, our tour guide had a loud speaker, most people in the tour were drunk and talking over him, and for the first time in many many tours, we walked off before we ever got a chance to try anything. There is no reason but greed to not cap a tour, they were making close to 2 grand off a miserable experience for their guests. Again, I do think it was likely an outlier but we will never be back, and I will ensure no one I know ever goes either.

Rabbit Hole is a newer distillery located in downtown Louisville. As with almost all others, their shop is where the check in area is and it's all immaculately clean. The team that works here are knowledgeable and friendly. I have found most of the distilleries have happy employees- that's appreciated. One part of the tour that stood out for us was a special tasting of one of their founder's blends (Adoura) at the end of the tour. When the price tag for that particular one is $900 a bottle, it's a real treat to try it.

We showed up around 930am for our 10am tour - they say to get there at 9:45 AM, but we were a little bit early - and they greet you with a welcome cocktail, which was pretty nice, you can choose between an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan. The tour was very informative and you do the tastings throughout, and then we headed up to their rooftop bar to drink a bit more - it was a rainy day but still nice. Overall I liked this distillery and would come back - there is free lot parking too, although only about 20 spots.
