I don't generally update my reviews but listen when the food is good, it's good. I once again ordered the rib dinner with mac & cheese and collard greens which was still made with l.o.v.e. We were immediately greeted at the door and seated within five minutes. Our order was quickly put in so that we could GET TO IT in a timely fashion. We never felt rushed and really enjoyed our time there. I did mention in my last review that the check was placed on the table while I was still eating my entree which is truly a pet peeve of mine. I truly appreciated that this time the check was not presented until the server made sure we had everything we needed from the kitchen. We left full and feeling like we were hosted by family. I'll be back for sure and will eventually explore the rest of the menu, including their dessert. Till next time.
We were recommended this place and I had it bookmarked for a while. I finally got the opportunity to visit recently. Upon arriving, there was one table with customers and we were finally seated. The interior was sort of dark but a nice jazz/ blues setting. The musicians are performing on the weekends. We ordered the sterling classic and the king George waffles n chicken. The waffle was thick batter and the chicken was seasoned good. It was crispy and flavorful. I actually liked the boneless tender better than the leg n thigh that was served. We ordered the orange juice but it was that Minute Maid stuff and not freshly squeezed that I thought it would be. They don't honor the yelp check-in offer as the guy told me that it needs to be removed. Overall good, I do have other items in mind to try next next time.
Breakfast Date on a Saturday morning because my fiancé and I don't get out much, this will be our new go to.. service was top notch , food was great, ambience, company.. nothing negative say. We were greeted and attended the entire time, even small attention to detail. Thank you for a awesome experience can't wait to return.
I finally returned here after my first visit several years ago. The menu appeared to be a little bigger than I remembered, and the prices remained fairly low given the current landscape. This time I ordered the spicy Bayou shrimp and grits. I tried this my last visit, and it was still very good, but not as great as I wrote in my previous review. There were 5 shrimp present, and it came with 2 eggs as well as a biscuit. I opted for over easy eggs. The sauce had a slight kick, but nothing too spicy. The grits were creamy and perfectly cooked. I also tried the mountain boulevard classic which came with a sweet potato waffle and three crispy chicken wings. The waffle was solid as the sweet potato was easily noticeable. The chicken was the highlight here as it was extremely crispy with tons of flavor. It was perfectly fried.
First thing First, the food here was great! Chicken and shrimp fried to perfection. The sweet potato waffle was okay, personally I like my waffles a little softer with a bit of crunch around the edges but that's just me. The biscuit was out of this world, mine was warm and literally melted in my mouth. If you eat it with the scrambled eggs, it taste like heaven on earth. Noooowww the bad unfortunately, the service here is not that great. The greeter can use some customer service lessons with greeting and talking to people. They can definitely use more help and they need more help. There was one waiter for at least 6 tables and even though he tried he could not give everyone his undivided attention. The lighting is a bit much but again that's personal. FYI- there is nothing wrong with my camera the sitting area of the restaurant is the color in these pictures . Not sure if I would revisit this establishment but definitely don't mind ordering for pickup.
Wonderful comfort food, good service, and owned by good people! We needed a breakfast spot for our family of 8 to kickoff the holiday weekend and 4 Brothers was recommended by friend. This place did not disappoint! We had fish and grits, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, eggs and biscuit and everyone left full and satisfied. One of the owners, Jason, was friendly and engaging. It's a family-owned business and they take pride in their food, service and hospitality. We will definitely be back!
I have been meaning to get to this restaurant for a while and finally got the opportunity. I ordered my meal of chicken and waffles online for about $17. When I arrived at first I couldn't find exactly where the place was because I didn't see a sign. I parked and walked in the plaza and I found it. I walked up and they had the entrance blocked by a fan because they weren't having people come in. The man told me he would be right with me. He asked if I was picking up and I told him my name. He gave me my food and that was that. When I finay ate the food, I wasn't too fond of the meal. It was just ok, not bad not great, but ok. I would have to try something else next time.
The food was the best part of the experience. It was finger licking good lol. I felt the need to not provide 5 stars because of the very long wait time starting with seating, ordering and receiving the food. It took 45 minutes after ordering to get our food. It was about 15-20 minutes of wait time to order after sitting. I would recommend a hiring a host. It appeared the only workers were the 4 brothers like the name. I would also recommend better outdoor signage. It took entirely too long to find this restaurant. There was an Uber eats driver looking for it as well.
My husband and I really love soul food so we were super excited to try out this breakfast spot for a birthday treat. Here's what we thought... : ok, lets's start with the GOOD. - I ordered the spicy bayou shrimp & grits and it definitely had that punch of flavor that I love. You could taste the spices without it overwhelming your palate. - I minimize gluten in my diet so I didn't eat the biscuit but my husband says it was delicious. - Shrimp arrived hot (biscuits room temp) - Was not that long of a wait (but we also were the only people there ). & the NOT SO GOOD. - ambience was heavily lacking. as you walk in the door to your left you see a very messy office desk area. - the water glasses were spotty and edge had a chip. - the water pitcher had unidentified specks floating in it . - the service was lacking (but we expected this from other reviewers) - Room was very dark with blue lighting, not really a bad thing, but if you look carefully around, the dark hides a multitude of sins in regards to the cleanliness department. all in all.... the flavors were there! But it was so hard to eat with peace of mind when you see the serious lack of care they put into the simple things. I mean, mystery water? It makes me wonder if this is what I can see, what can't I see in the back? I'm all for a hole in a wall , but this wasn't that. It's a place that gives vibes of wanting to be a nice restaurant but seems to have given up along the way. : This place has so much potential to be great. APPEARANCE: When we walked in, it didn't look like a restaurant at all, more like a disheveled office. We were the only customers at the time. In the dine-in area we were seated next to window but the blue light in the room was a little disturbing, but I guess that's their vibe. I could overlook the appearance if the food was great but it left us a little disappointed. THE FOOD: We ordered the shrimp and grits, and while the shrimp was cooked, perfectly. The grits were a little cold. The biscuit was a little hard. The 2 eggs were undercooked. All of this led me to believe that only the shrimp and eggs were cooked that day. (My mind can only think, we were the first ones here, and this is the first day they opened that week since Sunday, was this biscuit and grits sitting there since Sunday? That messed up my mind a little.) SERVICE: The staff was friendly, but scarce. We did have to flag him down once or twice for service, but he was a nice guy. Again, I think this place has great potential
Plugged in today at Four Brother's Breakfast in Warren, NJ. This was my 2nd time eating here and it definitely didn't disappoint. For a Saturday at 12:30 in the afternoon there was a nice flow of patrons. A really nice relaxing vibe to be honest. Don't let the restaurants location fool you. It is in the cut amongst other businesses and food spots, ample parking and accessible to the major highways. A nice day trip for sure!! I would give this place 10 stars if I could. It's been years since we've been back here. Arriving at around 3 pm, the place is empty, but the service and food is impeccable. The restaurant tables used to be set up right as you step into the store, but now the dining area has been expanded to the right side which is much roomier and has great air conditioning. There's also a stage with drum sets and speakers! We ordered fried okra, spicy shrimp with grits, and the chicken dinner which came with collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and sweet potatoes. All excellent and savory! If Putin and Zelensky had food here, the war would end right away.

This breakfast was THE BOMB. I would brunch here every weekend if I could but I also know that I would easily put on 50lb from all the chicken and waffles and biscuits that I'd be ordering. Everything was made to order, including the fried chicken, so it was juicy and crispy and had the perfect amount of spice to pair with my sweet potato waffle.. I am still thinking about this pairing and it's been a few days. The portions are large so I did have leftovers that I was asked to share once everyone at home got a look at them - I happily did and easily recruited a few new guests for my next visit. I really enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard at 4 Brothers and we all agreed that it was very cool that this is a family owned business. Our waiter let us in that they will be opening another restaurant next door featuring live music and an evening menu. I can't wait to hear what type of music will be featured here, hoping they open soon! I am already looking forward to my next visit and would recommend 4 Brother Breakfast to anyone looking for some authentic southern food or just to change up brunch and maybe stray away from the eggs benny's for once :) read more

So...my husband and I went here on a Saturday for breakfast. I made the reservation for 11:15 and when we got there we were seated right away. This was my second time eating here and my Husbands first. The service was amazing and the food was fresh and delicious just as the 1st time I had eaten here. I had the spicy bayou shrimp and grits and my husband had the fried shrimp and grits and we were extremely pleased & satisfied. The table next to me ordered the catfish nuggets and all I could say was ohhhh ahhh when they came out. I will definitely be going back very soon and those catfish nuggets are definitely top on my list. This is a must try as it is truly a gem in this area. read more
I came here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. As i walked in the place i notice it was extremely small. A gentalmen kindly asked me and my party to step outside. I didnt know why, but we did. Then he asked if i had reservations. I said no This is my first time here and i didn't know. He said i came at a great time because usually their busy on weekends. We waited outside for a couple min before being seated. This place holds about 20 people, so I then understood why we were asked to wait outside, luckily it wasn't that cold outside on this warm December day. This place is old fashion and rustically decorated. It was very cute. They even watch football on the weekends. The host or manager made an announcement that even though it was mostly ladies dinning, please dont mind the football as they watch it on weekends. Reason for the three stars is the food and service. While the service was great, the food was just ok. I ordered a cormeal bisuct which was $2 for one, the sweet potato waffle and chicken wings, and the others in my party ordered the french toast platter and just the carrot cake waffle with fried squash. The chicken was ON POINT!!! The best chicken i ever had. It was hot, juicy, and extra crunchy with a lot of flavor. The sweet potato waffle didnt taste anything like sweet potato. The carrot cake waffle came really burnt and didnt taste like carrot cake either. The biscuits had a weird flavor to it like old butter. The fried squash was ON POINT, and the french toast platter was good too as i been told. All in all I would come back because i like to support black owned businesses and the chicken was to die for. My critiques are the not so flavorful waffles, the homemade syrup i was not a fan of (when I asked for regular syrup, my bf over heard the worker talking to his staff on how i didnt like the syrup and said the were "offended". And they automatically added a 20% gratuity to our check for 3 people. But everything came out to a good value. Visited today for the first time with my boyfriend because I woke up craving fish and grits, but it seems hard to find good soul food near Piscataway so we drove 20 mins to 4 brothers. As first time visitors, we didn't know what to expect. Initially, we planned to get takeout but they do not offer takeout on the weekends, so this turned into a pleasant unplanned sit down date. I had the catfish and grits which came with eggs and a biscuit. My boyfriend ordered Uncle Buds pancake which came with eggs and beef bacon (so hard to find beef bacon out here so that's a plus!!) The food was amazing!!!! The drinks were as well, the apple iced tea tasted unlike anything I've ever had. In addition to good food, the service is unmatched!! We had a friendly and attentive waiter, he was very pleasant and personable. Support this black owned business!! Outdoor seating is available. read more

I went to Four Brothers in Dec of 2020. I was referred by a friend and was told great things about this place. I was and am highly disappointed with my experience. I've left several messages on their voicemail and no one has returned my call, even up to today. The fried chicken was not cooked thoroughly and my son, on the Autism Spectrum was eating it. If I did not happen to take a look at his plate as he was eating, he would have eaten raw chicken. By the time I'd reached home, from leaving the store, they were closed. I left a message that evening, I called a couple of days later, and even a week or so later, No call back. The guys were also arguing in the kitchen area and the energy was bad. Hopefully, this review will encourage your company to respond to complaints. read more

It's not very often I get this excited about a breakfast/ brunch restaurant. 4 BROTHERS BREAKFAST is just that kind of place if your looking for a breakfast/ brunch spot that's not your typical diner, or breakfast establishment. This is down home southern cooking at its finest! Everything is prepared from scratch, and you can feel the love and that down home southern comfort feel from every dish that is served to the linens and old fashion mason jars and bottles the drinks come in. From their FRIED CATFISH and ALLIGATOR NUGGETS from the gulf, to the southern classic FRIED CHICKEN and WAFFLES, and SHRIMP N GRITS, WARM BISCUITS, and GREENS, this truly gives you a taste of the south. They only serve turkey and beef bacon here no pork but the BEEF BACON is so delicious you won't feel like your missing anything. All their vegetables are hand picked and are farm to table from local New Jersey farms. They painstaking put their heart n soul into every dish they serve. Be prepared to wait awhile, nothing here is pre made or lying around. The service was very good. They will take a reservation for 5 or more people. When you arrive checkin, give your name and how many in your party and then wait or take a stroll around the courtyard. Two of the owners, brothers Jason and Najee couldn't have been nicer. Every single customer is treated with a smile and a warm friendly welcome. They don't miss a trick down to the warm maple syrup they serve up on their french toast or 6 kinds of waffles. 4 Brothers Breakfast is a small restaurant located in the Village Square Mall across from Silk Road Restaurant and down from the Warren Library on the opposite side.There is plenty of free parking. Inside there is approximately 10 tables and two outside. Coming this May 2017, 4 BROTHERS BREAKFAST will be expanding and doubling in size. This doesn't surprise me because through Yelp and social media this place is a big hit! You can order online and pickup. If you do it through Yelp 24 you can get a discount. They have a children's menu too. For my breakfast I chose their WASHINGTON ROCK CLASSIC. Red velvet waffle with 2 pieces of homemade fried chicken and warm maple syrup. The fried chicken was very crispy on the outside, the inside was juicy and tender and not greasy! The combination of spices were wonderful..The red velvet waffle was light, moist and tender. The little hints of sweetness complimented the fried chicken along with the warm maple syrup. I also ordered the homemade mac n cheese. It was creamy, and had so much flavor! The portion was a nice size. You have to try this...I shared it with my daughter and her boyfriend. I ordered coffee it was fresh and delicious. I also tried their "homemade hooch" APPLE ICE TEA it came in a quart size blue mason jar. Wow! Is all I can say, really good! ( I bet vodka would be great in it too!) The combinations of flavors were amazing! They also serve LEMONADE,RASPBERRY ICE TEA, SWEET TEA,and PEACH ICE TEA. My daughter order the same as me. He bf ordered BUFFALO CHICKEN WRAP WITH SWEET POTATO FRIES. The wrap had fresh chunks of chicken breast, lettuce, tomato,shredded cheese and a blue cheese or ranch dressing. It came with sweet potato fries. This got the thumbs up! I wanted to try their BUFFALO STYLE FRENCH FRIES . The fries were really good and topped with crumbled blue cheese. The prices here are reasonable. They have platters, wraps, burgers and more. I highly recommend you give this place a try. This isn't even okay Mac. This isn't even better than craft! This was so upsetting!!!!!! How'd I pay $10 for a cheap tub of Mac that had NO FLAVOR! You can't even call this southern. I'd rate 0 stars if I could. Don't order unless you want whitewashed food. read more

Egg yolks were so orange... amazing. Grits colored with a litte turmeric outstanding. Shrimps were perfectly cooked, spicy sauce was not too hot. Biscuit was heavy cakelike - delicious Coming back here again... fried chicken and waffles on menu :) A true Southern food joint. The brothers are from Alabama and brought their recipes with them. read more

Simply phenomenal! Great group of guys here. Very friendly and relatable. The food is made to order which means hot upon arrival to your table. The decor if southern in my opinion but nostalgic to say the least. The music was tasteful and great for lunch conversation and dining. There is parking in the parking lot of the plaza which offers multiple cuisine option but 4 brother's is the best by far. The food: we had a catfish dinner which comes with two sides. The side were collared greens and mac n cheese. The corn meal fried fish was heaven. The spicy in the greens were vent worthy. The mac n cheese was okay and plentiful but blended in with the meal. The fried chicken dinner and hamburger lunch was awesome. For drinks we had sweet tea and apple ice tea. THAT APPLE ICE TEA SHOULD NEVER EVER LEAVE THE MENU! If it's one thing you want to have before you leave this worlf it's their apple ice tea. Believe me, the gates of heaven will open for you no matter what you've done in the past. Lastly, they are a halal dining option! How awesome that you can eat everything they make here. I hope they stay forever because the community needs a place like this. read more

Perfectly fried chicken, catfish, and cod fish. This place has some of the most authentic southern cooking in the area. There Mac and cheese is a must as well as there cornbread. The only con is the wait after you have ordered because they cook the food once you order it, so it's not sitting out. Everything is made fresh so plan on staying awhile but it's totally worth the wait. read more

Had 4Brothers bookmarked for a while and just wasn't in vicinity for some time to try this spot out. But I've gotta say, today was a good day, chicken and waffles definitely was the highlight and i loved every little morsel down to the bone. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and super crispy. The waffle was just perfect for the dish. I had the warrenville classic and even though it was chocolate waffle it was very mild in flavor, kind of wished for bigger chunks of chocolate chips maybe but still good nevertheless. The coffee with the sweet cream has to be the best coffee I've had in some time, defiantly the sweet cream is what set it off. Andd lastly, fried okra! I've never had and I gotta say.. definitely a must try. Can't wait to come back and get something different! read more
I am a huge fan of 4 Brothers because they have an all-homemade menu, family owned, and gracious owners and staff. This restaurant has limited seating, and they put love into every dish they put out. Everything was out of this world!!!!! I absolutely stand by everything 4 Brothers represents: family owned, homemade, fresh/never packaged or canned, etc. They might not have enough exposure to say that they are raking in the bookah-bucks, but they ARE producing some of the best, most unique food I have ever had as a mostly NJ-based person (I had a 2 year stint living in MD at one point). We asked for their recommendations, and we got 'em: Fried okra (FRIED OKRA!!! I haven never seen fried okra on any menu anywhere I've been, albeit I don't tend to visit the South), French toast (we preferred beef bacon*; I have also never seen beef bacon on a menu ever), Cajun Shrimp and grits (they actually recommended chicken and waffles, but I don't care for waffles because I don't care for sweet). This is a movement (4 Brothers for Prez, 2016) The heavy: The wait was long. We got our food under an hour after we ordered. The light: 4 Brothers represents what is right in the world, with good/honest business practices, with good restauranting. In closing, these guys/families deserve your support because they are doing everything right, which makes it easy to push aside our NY/NJ expectation that we enter/exit a restaurant within an hour without actually enjoying the experience. Order: - Fried Okra - $4.50 - Catfish & Chips - $10.95 - Fried Egg Breakfast Cheesesteak Sandwich - $8.95 Atmosphere: Nice decoration, clean and neat. About 5 tables. It will be a long wait if lots of customers come in at the same time. Service: Excellent and staffs are very friendly. Staff chit chat every tables feels like very close friends. Food: It does take a while to get the food we ordered as they are freshly made right after we ordered and not pre-made. I was shocked by the fish and chip as the fish was a huge piece. When I eat it, oh my god, it is very soft, hot (temperature wise) and doesn't taste like fishy at all. Very fresh. Unlike some other places, their breading not as thick and lots of fish to eat. Their chips are also made from scratch. However, chips are a little hard. Perhaps, it might be better if they cut a bit thinner. Sandwich, they use ribeye steak and asked how we want to cook. This makes the sandwich more special. Price: Price is reasonable based on the portions. It is hard to find a place to eat fish and chip with this price although they are not using cod. But, catfish still have an outstanding result. Sandwich for 9 bucks, you are getting a ribeye steak and it is big. Overall: Definitely worth to try. But prepare to take a while to get your food but it is definitely worth it. Hopefully, we see the chips get some improvement. It would be nice if a sandwich comes with fries. One of the best eateries in the area, HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could've given them 10 stars ********** Too many pros to list but I will try.. Food was AMAZING, FRESH, WELL SEASONED, NICE PORTIONS, please I beg you not to change anything! I had the sweet potato waffles w/3 chicken wings, my husband had the Cajun Shrimp, beef bacon and scrambled eggs w/cheese, me kids (picky eaters) were able to find something on the menu for them as well (chicken + waffles & breakfast sandwich) Nice menu, something for everyone. The drinks were also very good to say the least. I had multiple refills of the raspberry tea (very refreshing) . I'm so glad that this establishment has opened up, FINALLY an authentic southern soul food restaurant where you can ENJOY a good meal at a decent price. I have no regrets, I would have paid more our meals. Definitely well worth the trip to Warren. Owners/Staff: KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! You are appreciated. The chicken and waffles are soooo good ! Everything is so fresh and hot! The chicken is so crispy and hot and ohh so juicy ! I had the red velvet waffle and it was amazing as well !
Is this place BYOB?
Yes, it is byob and we brought champagne for brunch - they supplied the juice for mimosas. They had champagne glasses too. Food was great and they are so friendly there. Make a reservation! It is a small place.
