I needed someone to install an electric vehicle wall plug last year. I was down to between two companies and 4 Service was one. Mike Schick spent so much time on the phone with me, answering all my questions and describing in detail the process and all related issues. They got my business from that call alone. Also, I forget how much a county license is, but they mark it up to account for their time - which I understand. The other company marked it up dramatically more. Fast forward one year, my plug is glitchy. I called Mike again at 4:30 on a Friday, left a msg, expected to hear back on Monday. He called me back at 5 pm. Again, he was patient, asked me about the issues I was having. He told me what plug to buy and told me that they'd install it for free. This company does not keep to their promised schedule and did a poor job. They messed up our walls unnecessarily. We understand electricians don't patch the walls, but they also did not have to make our walls so dirty full of scratches and skid marks. More care should have been put into the process as they installed new wires. We got a quote from them, and booked their service. They promised to come between 8 am and noon on an agreed upon date. On that day, however, they were missing in action. No call (despite their promise of calling us to confirm the exactly time, on the morning of). No message. We had to call the company headquarter many times. They kicked us from one person to the next like football. No answer. No updates. Each time we called (starting at noon) they'd say the electrician should arrive in the next 20 or 30 minutes and he'll give you a call. Nope! Nothing. Finally at 4 pm the electrician showed up. We asked him what was the hold up. He said coldly: you have to ask our office. The job of installing one chandelier to the ceiling of our dining room took them 4 hours! It ruined our evening plan. They did not finish up until 8 pm! We were supposed to go to our friend's house for dinner (and they cooked a feast) at 6:30! Bad service. Mis-communication and bad communication. Since my last review, I have learned that 4 Service Pros is under new management and that the company is run differently. No more free estimates--the charge is nearly $100! When I raised an objection to paying for an estimate for a straightforward project (replacing a PVC p-trap), the operator responded that it's standard practice for all plumbing companies to charge for estimates. Not true! I've found a different plumbing company (one that doesn't charge for estimates; you simply email them a photo) and will no longer use 4 Service Pros. read more

We had a clogged mini split and called 4 Service Pros since they did the install. T The technician they sent out was not able to perform any service on the unit, nor able to even look into what was wrong (clogged pipe, blocked areas, pump, parts, etc) without trying to nickel and dime me on the service. $350 to clear the outside unit, $350 to clear the pipe, $300 to take the unit down and see if there was a clog, perhaps another $300 for parts again without even identifying the issue. I haven't had any issues for years and never failed an inspection before. But the inspection guy from this company was actively looking for problems and kept threatening me I will have a huge problem if I don't fix it based on his recommendation. He failed my placed for the inspection. I quickly had another inspection company to come out and take a look. He said some of my parts are old but everything is working properly without any leak. He said there is no reason to fail the inspection. Please stay away from this company, especially if you need a routine inspection. These people will get your money by threatening you. read more

He understood the job to be done and quickly replaced the hoses in my two kitchen faucets. He carefully checked to ensure no leaks were present. He wore a protective face mask during the work and practiced social distancing, which we appreciated. We will continue to use 4 Service Pros as our plumbing, electrical, and HVAC service provider. All the electrician did was to switch the basic on/off function, which switches from left (the off) to right (the on). I've only had this company come for an HVAC tuneup so I can't attest to their pricing but I had a positive experience with my tuneup. I received an 8AM-12PM timeframe for arrival and my tech arrived right about 8:30AM (after sending a text that he was on his way). He inspected the outdoor HVAC unit as well as indoors. When I asked a question about a metal rattling sound I heard, he accurately and quickly assessed that it was just the dampers shaking around as the air moves through the HVAC. I received a list of things my tech checked which was several pages long (and included pictures of my unit and readings he collected) so I was very pleased to see that. I've contacted 4 Service Pros for two different services. AC annual checkup: great experience! The team tuned everything up and recommended a replacement for one of the parts and mentioned that our warranty may cover it. We appreciate their professionalism and honesty. Plumbing: we had an issue with the toilet and pipe noise so we contacted them. They were able to send someone out the next day. Instead of addressing the main noise issue, the technician tried to sell us on: -A new toilet -A new water heater -A new water filter -An auto shut off valve Again, none of the items above are broken and needed. We didn't ask about them. We only wanted a plumber to fix our one issue. The quote to fix that issue came out over $200 more than a local competitor. I don't recommend the plumbing team unless you're looking for a sales pitch. read more

I moved into a new home and chose 4 Service Pros based on Yelp/Google reviews. I scheduled two different appointments- one for HVAC issues and a second for plumbing issues. The HVAC tech came out and was able to service my heater/air conditioner. I feel he was honest and didn't try to say something was wrong when it wasn't. He did try to upsell me on a couple products but was not too pushy. There was a condensation leak I also had him look at but since it wasn't leaking at the moment he was there, he claimed he couldn't fix it and seemed uninterested in trying to figure it out. The company sent two workers for the plumbing issues. I had a list of small things to fix (running toilet, garbage disposal install, fix shower faucets, etc). The crews were very nice and able to fix most things. However, they installed the garbage disposal incorrectly which caused my dishwasher to flood. The company charged $300 to install it. Long story short - I had another plumber come out to fix the dishwasher thinking something was wrong with it, only to find out it was the garbage disposal. 4 Service Pros reimbursed me for that bill and a very small amount (like $25) of the initial $300 charge. I was hoping to find a reliable company I could call on whenever I had an issue but, for me, it will not be 4 Service Pros. read more

All-around great company and excellent customer service. Technicians Zachary and Henrri identified cause of water leak from upstairs bathroom to downstairs laundry room. The leak damaged the drywall ceiling which also exposed other leaks. A technician from another company conducted the initial "repair" but did not completely resolve the water leak. Zachary and Henrri replaced the waste and overflow pipes. In addition, per request, they replaced the shower control and diverter spout and did a great job in sealing the fixtures as some of the water was leaking around the old spout and shower control handle. I had to have my nearly 60 year old cast iron sewer lines replaced at my house, inside and out. I can't speak highly enough about my experience with Matthew Loring and Stephen Savoy. First class service from the first day they showed up to do the initial inspection and quote, to job completion. They came prepared, immediately identified the issue and started formulating a plan of action on the spot. They even started locating the lines under the concrete in the basement to better describe how and where the work would be done. Due to the complexity of the work and the location of other pieces of equipment, I had planned on being without hot water and/or heat (boiler system) for a time as they removed the old lines but I was wrong. They are skilled enough that they didn't need to take them offline and got the job done in the original time frame proposed. A+ They are extremely professional, showed up on time and did not try to upsell me on anything. They truly understand what it means to provide customer service and exemplify it to the fullest extent. Yet when I called, before I could even tell the receptionist what part of DC I lived in, I was told in no uncertain terms that they no longer service DC; only Northern Virginia. That's fine. I hired 4 Service Pros to completely replace my outdated HVAC and hot water heater. This was a job that started with some unexpected complications and has continued to run into issues throughout, some of which were preventable and some of which can only be chalked up to plain old bad luck. Sometimes stuff just happens, right? No worries. I want to shout out Maurice (the HVAC department head) for his efforts to work with me to get some of the problems squared away. He's proven to be patient, responsive, and is obviously highly capable, and I really appreciate his calm demeanor and helpfulness while we sorted out some issues. I also want to shout out Carl, a plumber who responded late last night to a leaking toilet. I panicked because, well, the toilet worked before the installation and leaked after, so it must be 4 Service's fault, right? Evidently not; just an ill-timed malfunction (see the "plain old bad luck" above), but Carl was awesome. He fixed it up, double-checked and performed preventive maintenance on the second bathroom, and even gave the new hot water tank a look to make sure it was good to go. And he did it all with a great attitude, which I really appreciated at the end of a long day for everyone. Overall, the company does good work and the onsite technicians are friendly and respectful of your property. The installation is still ongoing, but for a competitive price, I was able to upgrade my 15-year old system (14 SEER/corroding PVC pipes) to a 16 SEER unit and new copper piping. There's a slight coil issue that Maurice and his team will fix today or tomorrow and we'll be good to go. Customers should be aware that 4 Service has a pretty clear internal distinction between the HVAC side and the plumbing side. If you choose 4 Service, just make sure that communication is clear with both sides of the house. Some of our issues with this job stemmed from what appears to be poor communication at times. Greg (the owner) is aware of the issue and made time to come to my house twice to assure me it's being handled, which is all you can ask. Overall, I appreciate the leadership's responsiveness in dealing with some of the issues, and the work appears to be well done to my uneducated eye. I'd recommend this company, but just encourage customers to remain engaged to make sure everything is on track throughout (which you should do with any big job anyway). read more

I called 4Service Pros to fix an electrical problem I had. I knew I had a short somewhere in a wiring run, and that I needed a new wiring run from a switch box to a light fixture. I called 4Service Pros to install the new wiring run. When the technician arrived, he spent some time "diagnosing" the issue and informed me that his diagnosis was that I needed a new wiring run. He also told me the charge was $250 for the diagnostic and that this would not be applied to the repair. I was flummoxed because I was being charged for information I already had told them I had, and which put me in the same place I already was. Because this was in my rental unit and I wanted to get the job done, I authorized the repair at the additional cost. I was satisfied with the quality of the work, but extremely unhappy with the poor communication which ended up making the job cost twice as much as it should have. The service provided by 4Service Pro's was great, however, I was overcharged for my service. This was admitted to me by Daniel, the person who supervised my service. The date of my service was 1/27/22, and it is now 2/10/22. I have called the company multiple times to request that my refund be processed. I was supposed to be charged $4141.60 but I was instead, charged for $5664.35. I was told that I would be given a call. I have not received a call. It has now been two weeks. I want my deserved refund of $1522.75. I want to recommend this company, but I do not know that I can with this lack of response service and refund. Please advise. read more

Our hot water heater stopped working when we returned from an out-of-town trip and 4 Service Pros was the only service we could find that offered same day service on a Saturday afternoon. Regrettably, I did not read the prior Yelp reviews...otherwise, I probably would not have hired them. Arranging for their arrival was first rate; kept me informed on the status and arrival time of the repair technician, had an Uber-type system to keep you apprised on the status of the technician's arrival. Sadly, it was all downhill thereafter. The technician was professional and courteous. But before he even examined the water heater, he claimed it was an older model nearing its end and started on a sales pitch for a new water heater! I found this as VERY off-putting. I would expect the technician to do at least due a cursory examination of the heater first and tell me my options, but instead I'm hearing ominous overtones that I'm facing an expensive hot water heater replacement. After signing a form agreeing him to conduct work, he briefly worked on the heater and claimed to have got it working again (offering no real details on what he did or what was wrong) and it would take about 30 minutes to an hour for hot water to appear. He then departed and promised to send me estimates of what a new water heater would cost (minimum and maximum). Over an hour later, no hot water ever appeared. And 4 days later I never got the promised estimates...which is just as well as I won't be using them if I need to replace my water heater. This is a review of their plumbing service. I had a water valve stem that was stuck and needed replacement in the shower. I called their main number and made a same day appointment. Within 10 minutes I received a call from a technician saying he was 1 hour away. He arrived on time, he was professional, had the proper safety gear on, and i appreciated how they were clear on the work that needed to be performed and how it would be done. You agree to the estimate before the work begins. Overall, the entire process is clear and efficient. We had an issue with our water heater and with young kids in the house, not having hot water is not an option. I called 4SP hoping to get someone to come out to our house the same day and did not think it would be possible since this all happened on a Friday afternoon. Our technicians, Mark and David, called me within 10 minutes of placing the original service call to tell me they would be at our home within the hour. Not only were they both professional, experienced and friendly but they also took the time to thoroughly explain what the issue was and different options to solve the problem. Mark installed a new water heater which proved to be a bit more challenging than expected given that we have an older home. Due to the age of the home, there was an issue with the breaker and instead of trying to figure it out themselves so they could finally go home, they called Mike, who is an experienced electrician, to assess the problem. Mike was at our house withing minutes and was able to solve the issue and again, just like Mark and David, he took the time to explain everything carefully and gave us tips and pointers on how to improve certain things. Four hours later, we had a new water heater, the old water heater removed, and a set of still friendly and professional technicians finally ready to go home on a Friday evening. The excellent customer service we received was amazing and we cannot thank these guys enough for coming out and ensuring we had hot water by the end of the night. In short: responsive, ahead of schedule, quick assessment/knowledgeable, Willis the technician was professional. No cost estimate to come out and assess. Details: tenant had a leak in the closet ceiling. Called another plumber but they wouldn't reserve a date/time unless i had the contact for the unit above available as well. Called 4 Service Pros and they were available to reserve a date/time while i tried to obtain the contact for unit above. On the day of appointment, Willis the technician came early, checked out the closet leak and courteously waited until the unit above arrived. After 5 minutes in the unit above, Willis already found the root cause and relayed the issue and suggested path forward to the unit above-no pressure just straight forward on how much emergency call on weekend would cost and when hvac specialist can come. Also concluded that my unit was fine, no work needed to be done and no mold concern as leak was minimal; just need to fan the closet for a couple days to dry the remaining moisture. No cost incurred for Willis to come assess. In the end, i would contact them again for plumbing help and quick weekend service as needed. read more

Can not rate this company high enough. Stop looking. They are who you wanna work with. We had the dreaded Orangeburg problem. Crew came out. Camera down the sewer line (friendly with our animals). Showed me the issues and gave me an honest quote. Im a vet so got discount for that and the owner called me to thank me for my service with another discount. They were 40% cheaper than 7 quotes we got. Team worked till 9pm to replace the main sewer line with not a single trench in sight. Used "pipe bursting technology". GREAT JOB. First they have me scheduled for 4-6pm which is fine. Then they call and tell me they can come earlier and arrive 30 minutes later. I had no water pressure and they quickly went step by step until they solved the issue. I honestly thought I would have to rip open my walls and replace all the pipes but they assured me that wasn't necessary and fixed the problem quickly. Now my water pressure is almost too powerful. On top of that they took the time to look at my water heater set up and even make some suggestions to filter the awful alexandria water. Rick did a great job. This review is for an HVAC installation. Overall, five star experience using them from estimate to installation to even follow up quality check. I'm very happy, and Darnell kept me squared away even when I had tons of questions before, during and after the install. They were professional and ensure that all CDC guidelines were followed in the COVID19 response. Estimate: Darnell and I had worked out the numbers over the phone since I knew what I wanted and needed, and he came out to double check measurements and placement of the HVAC. It was evident Darnell (my main point of contact) was very knowledgeable about what was needed to include county permits for install the HVAC. Install: Chris and Nilson did the install. They had it a bit tough because of the water heater placement and where the furnace and evaporative coils needed to be placed. But they did a great job maneuvering through my utility closet and overall did an awesome job with the install from what I could tell. Quality Check: Yes, after the install, Darnell and a senior Tech (Allen) came out for a quality check since this was a high end system. They ensured proper functioning of the unit and will do an additional QC in the fall to check on the furnace. Speaking from experience, another vendor I picked did not perform a QC like 4 Service Pros. Logistics/Coordination: Also want to throw a shout out to Kathryn who did a great job coordinating the appointments and worked around my schedule. So technicians arrived exactly on time. No waiting around... score :) Pricing: Yes pricing matters... But I would emphasis that best value (and not cheapest) matters most when looking at the long-term. I do encourage folks to research (can't emphasis research enough!!) and get more than one quote (like you would if you were buying a car) from reputable companies but I also remind folks that cheapest is not always the best. If I could give a negative five rating, I would. They installed an (expensive) sump pump in our office in November 2020 that failed in May 2021. They then took no responsibility for the damage (luckily our general insurance company covered the flood damage and replacements). They did NOT EVEN INSTALL a replacement sump pump at no charge; they insisted on charging again despite advertising some sort of a warranty. When we had a second plumper check the pump THAT WE PAID FOR A SECOND TIME one month later to ensure everything was working properly, he said that the installation job was pathetic and would have caused other issues if left unchecked. This second plumber was someone we had used on 10+ other projects and is a trusted professional. AVOID THESE FOLKS AT ALL COSTS! read more
