    The failed inspection that M&S DID NOT pass, yet told us they did and continued work.

    AVOID Michael & Sons (M&S) After more than 20 years as a loyal customer, this has been one of the most mentally and financially stressful experiences. M&S performed defective work, failed county inspection, and did nothing to rectify their faulty, malfunctioning work. In July 2025, a leak in my basement ceiling led their restoration team to open the drywall and discover a drain pipe installed with the slope inverted--meaning water literally had to flow upward to drain. Their own technicians confirmed it was installed incorrectly. When I reviewed my records, I found that Michael & Son installed this plumbing during my prior basement remodel. I also located the Fairfax County inspection report rejecting the work at the time and requiring the drain lines be reworked due to improper slope. (but clearly M&S didn't). Because this defect was never corrected, our basement suffered water damage and mold contamination. Despite providing the contract, inspection report, and documentation, the company has refused to take responsibility. After months of unanswered emails, shifting explanations, and no resolution, I've had to take legal action; a huge expense on top of what I've already paid M&S. Extremely disappointing from a company that markets itself as family oriented and quality workmanship.

    Water heater number three

    Without hot water(again) so I called and made an appointment. The tech responded right on time and quickly diagnosed the on going problem as the wrong type of water heater was installed by M and S less than a year ago (natural gas instead of propane). He called and got another tech scheduled for the following day. Tech showed up right on time and replaced the water heater with a brand new one. I asked if it was propane and he said yes. Fast forward a couple of days and no hot water again. Tech showed up and restarted the pilot and asked if I had propane or natural gas. Propane. Guess what. Another natural gas heater was installed again. Water heater number three was finally the correct propane model! M and S offered a discount on future service. Don't think I'll be using it.

    Hole they cut without permission then lied that they did it.

    This company doesn't even deserve 0 stars. My actual rating is that I give them negative one million stars. Not only did they send 3 different plumbers over 4 days and were still unable to resolve my problem of an overflowing sink but on the very first day they got their 40 foot snake stuck in the pipes! They charged $1000 for the "repairs", they lied to us that we were just signing for the payment but instead scammed us into falsely signing a contract! Not only did they not solve the problem, they made the problem significantly worse! Now the drywall, countertops and cabinets need to be demolished to remove the snake. Not only in our home but in our downstairs neighbors home as well! Both of us in the home as well as our downstairs neighbor have had to take off multiple days of of work. They also said even though they completely caused the problem with their incompetence they said we will be 100% responsible with the costs of removing the snake. They also started to cut a hole in my drywall which I did NOT authorize them to do! I explained I have lead paint in my home, drywall has to be expertly demolished, you CANNOT just cut into it! This company exposed me to and spread lead dust throughout my home! When I called to complain they LIED and said they didn't do it! They were the only ones in my home! Of course they did it! Lying, scamming, beyond horrible in every single solitary way! Even when you call the manager Scott, even though he answered the phone"this is Scott" then when I start to complain he lies and says oh well this isn't Scott. Then I had the phone to the technician in my home and he goes, hey Scott, this is Adam. Yeah? It was Scott. A worst nightmare come true every step of the way. Hire literally anyone else please. They probably arent even plumbers as they call them "technicians"

    UPDATE reached out to the company representative who commented on my Yelp review and he didn't do anything but waste my time. Ignored my request for a refund on an estimate they were supposed to refund after I hired them to do the work. Then after telling me they couldn't reimburse for repairs someone else made on their work, said he wanted to see more info from my contractor. Sure dude let me waste more of my time and that of a company that had to fix your inferior work.

After the inspection, they were able to secure the part (a main circuit breaker) and schedule someone to fix it later that same evening. The electrician that did the fix, Markii, was professional, knew his stuff, took appropriate precautions in terms of wearing a face mask, etc. and after fixing the circuit breaker, inspected my fuse box in the house and walked me through how the system works and how the electrical load is distributed in my house and gave me some great tips. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend Markii. The only room for improvement I would bring up is the cost. Although they are similar in price to other companies or service providers, you can find more affordable options with individual electricians, but obviously I can't speak to what kind of service you would receive from individual providers.

One star off as trying to get ahold of someone at the company to ask a question was difficult as their listed email returns an error and the phone was not answered, but scheduling through their website was easy and convenient.

They asked for pictures of the breaker and the issue, diagnosed it quickly, and offered same-day service. Communication was incredibly easy and clear, all by text. Max arrived right on time, identified the short, and fixed it efficiently. They were professional, knowledgeable, punctual, and honestly just great to work with. I can't speak more highly of them.     I had a plumber come in for a consultation so that I could buy a tank-less water heater. I paid…read morefor a consultation so that I could buy a water heater that fitted with my home set up. I did not want to have to make changes to my house. I wanted to get a system that was compatible with my current set up. He gave me his advice and I ordered a Rheem 36kw tank-less water heater as instructed. He installed it and the next day it blew a fuse. Ok, no biggie. A few days later, it cut off again and would not turn back on. Called in an electrician and it turns out that the plumber didn't know what he was talking about. The fuse in my disconnet box blew because he hooked up the water heater's electrical components dangerously incorrect. The Rheeem he suggested requires 4 double 40 breakers to power it. He hooked it up to 1 double 30 breaker. Of course the system was too strong for the breaker and the wiring. I'm grateful my house didn't catch on fire but now I need to changed the breakers, upgrade wiring, and add additional disconnects to work the system properly. F that plumber. I paid him to avoid this. Enter Mister Electrical to the rescue. The tech came out. He was professional and extremely respectful of my home, even took extra time to make sure he didn't leave a spot behind him. After examining the set up and talking with his senior, the tech said they would take some time to make sure they get it right. He didn't want to give me any misleading information. The Senior plumber, being made aware of my situation, took a few days to go over the manual and my set up to find the best course of action for my problem. After a few days, he came up with a solution to hook it up to 2 double 60 amp breakers and to run it at a lower setting (the normal power settings were far beyond what I could ever use... damn plumber). At the end of the day, I appreciate how Mister Electric took the time to find the best solution to my specific problem. They were always respectful of my home and money. They could have rightfully charged me $5000 to hook it up like the manual basic instruction. But they took the time and effort to learn the system and find a way to save me over $3000 dollars. Integrity is priceless. Call Mister Electrical now.
