l used to come here back in the day and I made the mistake of coming on a weekend recently and it was a zoo! (not that there's anything wrong with that. great for business i'm sure, but not my thing)... So I tried again on Sunday with a friend hoping for a more laid back vibe. I attempted to order drinks and I waited longer than expected. I saw new customers come up to the bar and get tended to way before myself who had already been standing there. I decide to waive one of the bartenders over with "hey bro." The Hispanic bartender got so offended I called him bro that he approached me and warned me not to call him bro ever again or else and then threatened security on me. Another black bartender was able to read the situation and realized I was no menace to the bar and allowed another bartender to serve me. I bought my three drinks and left 20% tip for the bartender who helped me. The other bartender ends up snatching the tablet off my hands and closed out the tab as if he was mad I was being served. If his two coworkers felt inclined to serve me alcohol, there was clearly no problem to begin with. I think these bartenders need emotional intelligence training or a reprimanding because this sort of reaction is unacceptable and quite frankly a danger to society. Stay safe everyone. This bar is pretty chill and the bartender's of course are always welcoming (ALL of them!). So no wonder this bar has a good rating. I've personally worked security here a few times and always felt comfortable and ready to come back. However, this bar can get very... very packed on the weekends, so you're having to push through. Not only are these cocktails aesthetically pleasing, they taste great as well. The bartenders clearly know what they are doing. The bar is kinda small but there's enough space to do your thing. Came here for the first time last week at a friend's recommendation and was pleased by the atmosphere and ambiance. It was a weeknight and the two of us ordered a few rounds and hung out and talked in a corner booth for a few hours and just enjoyed the vibes. Bartenders were nice and the drinks tasted great and we made sure to tip based on that experience. However, at the end of the night, the staff in charge of clearing the bar after last call were insanely pushy. They notified us at our table that it was closing time and I said "thank you" and got up to use the restroom. We were already closed out so my friend waited for me outside. The restroom door didn't lock so I had to awkwardly yell "THIS RESTROOM IS OCCUPIED" as several people tried to open the door in the 60 seconds I sat down to pee. Whatever. Finally, I get up to wash my hands and the employee who initially asked us to leave barges in the bathroom as I'm standing there finishing up and says nothing but holds the door open in yet another effort to get everyone out. So awkward. No apology or anything. As a woman who was alone in a bar at that moment he really made me feel so uncomfortable. I didn't think spending a few minutes in the restroom at closing was going to be such a huge, awkward inconvenience for the staff. I understand needing to get more abrasive with rowdy, rude, or problematic patrons in a bar atmosphere but my friend and I are not those people. Overall, I experienced some very weird and unpleasant aggression that I think will prevent me from going back to 4100 Bar. If you do visit, bring someone who is willing to stand guard of the restroom door I guess. read more

This bar is right next to El Cid on the main Sunset road. It's a bit dark but it's classically known for hosting small wrap parties and boasts a photo booth and two pool tables. The seats fill quickly and the shape of the bar is a bit awkward because of the 360 wraparound bar in the center which takes up most of the internal space, but it's got a nice low light and drinks are affordable. I believe they have a good menu and also boast an internal taco stand which is a plus. The outer region is covered in astroturf and has umbrellas and dim twinkle lights flanking the sides. My favourite bar in town. Love the tented look, the red colours, the soft glow. It gets crazy loud on the weekends but it doesn't bug me. It's a sign of happy people, which is beautiful. Small, dive-y bar that's down the street from the El Cid. Parking is street, or you can walk or use a ride share service. Very low lighting except by the pool table. Music is loud, but we were able to converse without too much repetition. When we arrived, there was seating available, but it was rainy. Things might be different on another night. Drink options are decent but not super extensive. We got a couple of beers. I paid a little over $8 for a stout. There is an outside portion, but no one was there due to the rain. They also had a food cart guy making food outside. Didn't try any food, but good to know there's something to eat if you're feeling peckish. read more

This is my favorite neighborhood bar! They have really great seasonal drink specials (why do so many bars not do that??) and the service is really excellent. I love the patio and the food vendors, my absolute favorite thing is the real film Photo Booth. Since it's real film, it sometimes runs out and stuff but that's what happens with FILM and that's what makes the Photo Booth awesome. plus the management tends to fix it really fast too. Also seems like people love playing pool here. I'm not really into pool, but if you are you have to check out this place. Kudos to Scott for resolving my Photo Booth snafu! read more

The bartender here SUCKS. I ordered two Shirley temples (non alcoholic- it's soda and grenadine) and saw the bill for $22. This place is dirty and trash. $22 at an upscale restaurant? Fine. But not here, that is criminal. I asked the bartender if he made a mistake or they had alcohol and he laughs and says it's still a cocktail without alcohol. I was in shock and so were the girls next to me. Later I find out from those same girls he up-charged them on their well drinks. What. A. Dirtbag. Scraping all the cash he can get. So it's been a hot minute since I've gone to 4100. Not really since covid. Went last night for a date and it's been turned into a pool bar, as opposed to a lounge-y sexy bar haha. Ok that's like whatever. The real point of this review is for the bartender who served us our last two rounds. The first bartender hooked it up nicely, drinks were appropriate and fairly strong (thanks guy!) The second bartender straight up gave me juice for my vodka and cranberry, and my date's drink wasn't much better. We got a second round from her, I made sure to get beer since she obviously couldn't mix. My date got their Light Side of the Moon. The cocktail comes with a literal flower in it, it's pretty cool. But this bartender actually put rotten leaves in his drink. He was super good humored about it. I was shocked he continued to drink it, and really peeved that she would even bother. It's like she was being a troll. Really disappointing and imho 4100 should honestly rethink her employment. Came here for a little social event put together by my friend and I had a great time! I got my usual, a moscow mule, but I liked the special that my friend got, "Who Lives Under A Pineapple." The drink had depth to flavor that masked the booze and I can't resist a Spongebob reference. My Moscow was okay. A little too heavy on the booze and not enough ginger beer in it. I also found that there was too much ice and was not drinkable after only a little bit. But it's fine. I'm not a big drinker. I love how big the space is outside and the seats and benches available. It was never an issue to find a spot to sit down at least for me. It seems pretty easy to claim a stable or corner for your group as long as they aren't too huge and you come before 6-7 PM ish. The main thing that makes me want to come back, though, is the burgers they make fresh and at the outside area. My friend was raving about it and let me take a bite and we both agreed its one of the best burgers we've had. And I say this as someone who NEVER recommends bar food since it tends to be overpriced and shoddily put together (most people are drunk and get hangry, so can't blame the bars that do this, of course). The burger was cooked and seasoned right in front of us, and apparently the guy out front that cooks it baked the buns himself!! So damn impressive. The fries that come with it were really good too. Crispy on the outside but still soft and moist on the inside. I would venture to say that it's better than the usual cheeseburger and fries I get at Five Guys, AND cheaper too. If you're wondering, it's $15 dollars, which is cheaper than what I get at Five Guys and pretty reasonable for food at a bar. The main issue that I want to warn people about is parking during peak hours (we went during Friday night). It's in Silverlake so it took us around 20 minutes to find a spot, and even after that, it was a slightly longer walk than I was hoping for. read more
